Also contained in this book is a detailed interview with Hartley, plus a complete filmography.
Hal Hartley is the writer, director and producer of numerous feature films. He received the best screenplay award at the Cannes International Film Festival in 1998 for Henry Fool as well as prizes at Sundance (Trust), Tokyo (Amateur), Prague (Meanwhile) and Berlin (Ned Rifle). He is a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres of the Republic of France and an alumnus of the American Academy in Berlin. He lives in New York City.
Trust is my favorite Hal Hartley film so I was thrilled to find the screenplay today at my library. Reading it gave me a different POV on the meaning of the movie. There's an interview with HH at the beginning of the book that gives us his perspective, thoughts and process during writing and directing. I'd recommend for anyone who enjoys independent cinema.
I literally typed out the whole screenplay of Trust because it is very interestingly designed and I just wanna understand how everything was made in that film.
