God wills it. A Saint must find a way. All Tommy Nolan wants is some peace to enjoy his family. He’s been to hell and back, and now he needs a break.
But evil doesn’t need to take a breather, and now the Vatican is back on his doorstep asking for help.
A nearby monastery has been desecrated and the exorcist monks murdered in the most brutal ways imaginable. A legion of demons is gathering for something big, and Tommy’s the saint they need to help.
An old enemy is the ally he needs, but can Tommy trust him? Can they track down all of the demons in time?
And what does the Necronomicon have to do with it all?
Declan Finn is the NYC based author of books ranging from thrillers to urban fantasy to SciFi, including the 2016 Dragon Award Nominated Novel for Best horror, Honor at Stake, 2017 for Live and Let Bite, and 2018 for Codename: Unsub in best Apocalypse. He is known for "his strong fight scenes and is romance novels are sexy without being dirty, providing enough sexual tension to curl toes."
He hosts the Catholic Geek Radio show, and can be found wherever someone is starting trouble. He also writes thrillers, video game reviews, and works for several blogs.
He is one of a legion of writers over at The Catholic Geeks blog (a legion, for we are many). Other books he has written includes the comedy-thriller It Was Only on Stun! where he blows up a sci-fi convention (no, not this one). He co-authored the science fiction espionage novel Codename: Winterborn. However, he is most proud of The Pius Trilogy – which includes “A Pius Man,” “A Pius Legacy,” “A Pius Stand,” and an anthology, “Pius Tales.”
This was the tenth novel I have read by Declan Finn 8 in the last few months. I have now read the first six in his Saint Tommy Series, starting with Hell Spawn and Death Cult. I now understand why so many people rave about his works. Before reading book 1, I had also picked up White Ops Book 1, but got going on the Saint Tommy Series first. I have also previously picked up several anthologies that Finn has contributed to, that I have not got around to reading. They have been bumped up in my ‘to be read pile’. The hard part of discovering a new favourite author who is very prolific is there are many works to choose from. I believe at the time of writing this that Finn has 38 published books and short stories, including this series which is to be up to 12 books within a few months. As of late my fiction reading I have been alternating books by Finn, Andrew Grant (aka Andrew Child), and J.D. Kirk, but having finished Grant’s back catalogue Finns are now in more frequent rotation. I am currently reading 2 in this series and then a White Ops book, two more then a Pius Man book as well.
The description of this story is:
“God wills it. A Saint must find a way. All Tommy Nolan wants is some peace to enjoy his family. He’s been to hell and back, and now he needs a break.
But evil doesn’t need to take a breather, and now the Vatican is back on his doorstep asking for help.

I said before I was a little hesitant to start this series. It seemed a little over the top. And from the authors, publishing people, and friends it was so hyped I was afraid it would disappoint. It did not! In fact before I had finished the first 3 I picked up a dozen other works from Finn’s pen. And this series is getting better and better. With each volume I appreciate the world building that Finn is doing even more. Often when series stretches out they eventually dip in quality and entertainment value. That is not the case with the Saint Tommy series. But, back to this specific volume.
Declan likes to push the line with these works. He is not afraid to punt political correctness out the door. He uses fiction to write about issues, and concerns that most media completely ignores. And in this one, not only is he called back into duty early, and on American soil again, his police partner, his wife, children and even close friend a New York Medical Examiner, Doctor Sinead Holland are all in on the action. And in each novel the action gets more intense, and to some extent terrifying! In this one someone is trying to raise a demon and wipe out much of North America. But to get there they first start with an investigation of a massacre at a monetary. All the exorcist monks have been murdered. And the whole place has been desecrated. Tommy, his partner with NYPD Alex Packard, and Father Michael Pearson his partner at the Vatican a combat exorcist, are on the case and they soon realize not only is it serious but also very time sensitive. Soon it is a race against time to see if they can save the people of earth again!
I really appreciate what Finn is trying to do in this book and in the other stories in the series. For some these books will be quick entertainment. For some they will raise serious questions or faith and faith in action. And For some they will raise awareness of situations going on around the world. However, I did not enjoy this one before this as much, but this was an excellent read! With my only family background in the Orange Order and occult this one really hit close to home. I love Tommy recalling prayers and praying his way through the battles, it is always entertaining. And I must admit I have added a prayer or two to my daily devotions.
This is aa great story an excellent series. I continue to look forward to the rest of the books in this series, and other offerings from Declan’s always entertaining and masterful pen.
Deus Vult by Declan Finn is an amazing story that I have read. This is book number six in this amazing series that I have read and loved. I hgihly recommend this stoyr to everyone who loves reading fantasy and horror.

Tommy and his family relaxed on the porch swing of a summer home owned by the local Medical Examiner, Doctor Sinead Holland, as Tommy held his 2-month-old daughter Gracie on his lap. His wife, Muriel, came out to join him while they watched an odd game where Jeremy, his son, threw things in the air while their telekinetic adopted daughter, Lena, batted them out of the way with her mind! They made it more interesting when Jeremy tossed a handful of grapes and Lena skewered them with toothpicks and piled them on a plate – again, using only her mind. His partner, Alex Packard, stepped out onto the front porch to join them as he watched the children playing.
As Tommy is cooking breakfast for everyone, the doorbell rings. Father Michael Pearson was there, his partner when he was asked to work missions for the Vatican. This time, they needed him to look into a massacre where everyone in a nearby Passionist monastery, which held most of the exorcist monks in the United States, was slaughtered. The exorcists were killed first, then the rest of the monastery personnel. The monastery was totally desecrated. Aside from his gun, Tommy wore a powerful ring that held part of the Soul Stone and powered by his faith, prayers and God. Pearson, Alex, and Tommy headed to the crime scene. The scent of evil was so horrible that he had to put on a magic golem helmet which filtered the air for him so he could breathe in the vile atmosphere. He smelled burned paper and they found that the police had completely ignored all the scattered papers in the office. That is where they found the clue! They pieced together 3 pieces of paper that missed burning and read the name of a company, Matchett Industrial. When Pearson came in with a sign-in register, a variety of names had all signed in with that company name, so they began fitting all the information together – and they had a name from a business card to begin their questioning. Are they going to need more help on this one with at least 10 killers involved?
In the author’s signature style, there are twists and turns in this rollercoaster ride that will keep the reader guessing. The action almost never stops. Powerful descriptive writing will put the whole scene clearly in the reader’s mind to experience everything that is going on. The author’s writing style is definitely impressive! Detective Thomas Nolan can actually smell evil, and he is a saint with some God-driven skills. The Saint Tommy books come down to good versus evil, and I’m glad Nolan is on our side when you see what he has to deal with!
I received a free copy of this book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
In the continuing saga of St. Tommy vs demons, this book is another success. I love the book, the story, the characters, the fights, and the twists. Tom Nolan, St. Tommy, to those familiar with his job, is summoned by Father Pearson again. There has been an extraordinary attack at the Passionist Monastery that requires a very special investigator. Together with Father Pearson, and Tommy, Tommy’s partner, Alex Packard and Dr. Holland, a forensic pathologist, the team set out for the monastery. What they found was beyond description and caused this experienced team to react with horror. Not only is scene of the crime, where a dozen monks have been horribly murdered, the church desiccated and filled with filth, but the implications of the murder are hellishly frightening.
In an advancement of the attacks on humanity an old foe has reappeared and called a gathering of demons to work together to help the demon of all demons destroy mankind. In an epic battle between demons of hell and soldiers for God, death and destruction are wrought upon Massachusetts shores where the Nolan family, a police detective, a priest and a doctor fight with the aid of an unexpected ally to save the world.
If you enjoy the supernatural, if you are not afraid to read books containing references to religion, and you are looking for exciting reads with fascinating characters, this series if for you. Grab these books; you won’t regret it.
While Tommy and his family are keeping their heads down at the secluded home of a friend, he is called upon to investigate a massacre in the area. Although there is still a bounty on his head, he and his partner agree to do what they can to find out who murdered everyone in a nearby monastery that housed most of the exorcist monks in the United States. Another thrilling mystery and adventure in the fight against evil. Tommy continues to be his usual modest self while using his god-given abilities to fight evil in this next installment of the Saint Tommy books. We get to spend time with some familiar characters and get to know newer characters better. There are twists and turns in this roller coaster ride and almost non-stop action. We get to see more of Tommy's family's strength and their skills in surviving whatever is thrown at them to stop Tommy's fight against evil. While there are obviously religious overtones, (let's face it, with a series titled Saint Tommy, how could there not be) this book is not preachy or over the top. The religious aspects of this book are matter of fact and just part of the story. I love this series and while each book is a stand alone complete novel, I would recommend reading the entire series in order. I loved this book as I have loved each and every book in this series.

Tommy Nolan has all of the qualifications for sainthood except one-on-one He's still alive. He's relaxing with his family when an exorcist that he's worked with before arrived to ask his help investigating the murder of an entire monastery. This leads to clues that the whole world is in danger.
This is the sixth book in the series. While reading the others will make you appreciate this one more, it can easily stand on its own.
As you might expect from the title, the bulk of the central characters are Catholic, and Catholic dogma is central to the plot. Don't let that scare you away. What you need to know you will be provided, and not via lectures. This old Baptist had no trouble keeping up.
There's plenty of mystery and actio, and is a fast read. Stop reading this and go read the book.

Wow. Another great installment for Saint Tommy Nolan. At times I thought it seemed a little more violent than some of the others. I went back through the previous installments and realized the difference was less story than more of something else. Mariel and the kids are almost deserving of their own story. Without giving anything away, I am looking forward to the next part of the story. I am such a fan I will be watching for the continuation of Tommy’s journey.

No rest for the saint. Tommy needs to save the world again but evil times makes for evil bedfellows. Action packed, nail biting plots and old frenemies coming along for the ride. A must read if you enjoy the supernatural and well executed fight scenes. I was spellbound till the end and cannot wait to read the next book!

Tommy Nolan is one of the best characters on the Horror scene!, C'mon folks A Wonder Worker NYPD Cop (A living Saint) who fights the Supernatural..... What's not to love!. He and his family fight like Papal SAS (Not that there are any Papal SAS...Are there? Try the Pious Man trilogy for the answer! another awesome read from Mr Finn!). The plots are believable, well written and extremely difficult to put down!. If you miss this series you'll kick yourself! 10/10
Saint Tommy has God given abilities that allow him to root out demons and actually smell evil. This story is a combination of action and religious supernatural combat. I was gifted this from the Booksprout.
Saint Tommy has been granted the ability to fight demons. His latest challenge starts with a mass murder at a monastery. From there it spirals downward as more forces of evil come into the plot.
Overall the story is OK. I found it weak that about a third of the book is prayers which are immediately answered in the battles. The characters are one dimensional, either all good or all bad. Also, the author follows Augustine's lead and makes all non-christian gods into demons. It oversimplifies the multilayered tapestry of existence into black and white - no greys, no colors. To me, the most interesting character is Bokor Baracus. He shows ambiguous subtlety and depth as he plays his parts.

Good versus evil, major demons, nastiness personified and a great group of God's people ready to fight to save the world. No more right now, but read the teaser for the first in another series so on to it.
When you mention the big guy, you gotta summon the big guy. Eventually… Or damned close. Wow. How can one cop from NYC handle the ultimate Kaiju? God is on his side…
Sixth entry in this series with each novel being as enjoyable as the last. Just pure fun and Declan 's mind goes strange places when it comes to battling monsters.

It is good to find a book that upholds strong family values. I generally do not expect that in a really good noir urban fantasy. The author has portrayed Tommy Nolan to be a really devout Catholic badass justice-seeking everyman in his previous books. Does it surprise anyone that Tommy's family is much like him? The Nolans do a lot together - they pray, they worship, they .... save the world from the forces of Hell together? I am stopping here - you have got to read the book to find out how. You will find it thrilling!

Some scary fights. I like the way the author puts the prayers in the fight I am not sure if he is saying them out loud or to God in his head. Still I like the effect it portrays. So much goes on in these books very fast paced. The tenderness Tommy has for his family to the violence of the fighting is so stark it is awesome to witness. I can see it all going on a large screen in my head. No faces because I can't think about who would make a better actor to portray the people in the book. To me it would have to be a new face. I like the way the children (or Tommy's son Jeremy) takes to his new big sister, Lena and loves her no matter what. He thinks she is so cool. I really like that. She will grow up to become a power into herself. Maybe with Jeremy next to her. I do hope that there will many more of these stories coming in the future. They are so awesome. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
Deus Vult: A Catholic Action Horror Novel is the sixth book in the amazing Saint Tommy, NYPD series. This is a fast-paced, action-packed thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat for the entirety of this enthralling ride. Detective Tommy Nolan can smell evil and is the first man the Vatican calls when a monastery is desecrated and everyone is murdered. This is a true Good vs Evil story is a must-read for anyone who loves supernatural action thrillers.

I did not enjoy this book. In fact, I didn't finish it. Others may enjoy the story but I could not get into it. But, don't let this stop you from reading it.
