It ended too soon. Needed to go longer to tell you what actually happened with Roo in the end.

it was just ok

Spoilers ahead—

I had the hardest time getting through the 143 pages that was this book… it started off thrilling and interesting and turned to boring. After the major life altering event that happened, it was a slow. Things like… she got up, she made coffee, her sister came to help… but then she would have a creepy vision. She went about her day.. but it was hard. Blah blah.
I didn’t think there was anything thrilling about this book- and it would have been a lot better if you could read through the other personalities eyes or have literally anything happen besides mundane life go on.
The last 20 pages where you realize she has multiple personality disorder wasn’t even thrilling and anticlimactic.

Thank you to the author for sending over an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Definite five star because - WHAT DID I JUST READ?! (In the best way). As soon as we start the book, there’s been a horrific car crash with our main character Roo, her husband Shane, & her two daughters - Miley & Jayden. After the wreck, we also meet Molly. She’s Roo’s sister & she helps take care of her as Roo tries to recover from the events of the crash.

I thought about this book so often when I had to put it down! From the very first page to the very last page, I thought I knew what was happening. As soon as I had it figured out & said “Oh!” Then, the author just gave me another page or two & metaphorically said “SIKE! YOU THOUGHT!” Roo has me feeling sorry for her. Then, I felt angry with her. Leading to me being bewildered by her actions. Then, somehow, I’m confused & scared. Finally, for me to be blown away! ALL WITH THE ONE MAIN CHARACTER! I wish I could forget it & read it all over. It was like I was right next to Roo in multiple scenes. I could smell the stagnant water. I could hear the footsteps & laughter. I could feel the glass break. A vivid read that puts you inside the book at every turn. I wanted to punch Mr Kepple. I think Dr Page knew more than she was letting on but, here we are! Yet, by the end, I wanted to hold Molly & just hug her too because this family has been through so much that nearly every piece crumbles.

This book is absolutely the definition of a psychological thriller. I cannot wait to read more from this author!

This book had a lot of potential, but it took a strange twist at the end that didn't seem to fit with the rest of the book. Roo and her family are involved in a car wreck which leaves her two young daughters dead and her husband in a coma. Roo, as the only survivor, is struggling with life after the accident. Her younger sister, Molly, suggests that she start seeing a therapist and this is where things start to be revealed.

Roo sees and hears her daughters around her home, dripping with water after their drowning and obviously not alive. But, is she seeing their ghosts or is something else going on? To me, the ending was rushed and came out of nowhere. It would have been more realistic to have things develop more slowly throughout the book instead of having so much of Roo's daily activities described.

The narrator was a bit hard to understand at times and I found my mind wandering. All in all, not a bad book, but could have been better.

This is a suspenseful story that I enjoyed reading. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites. I enjoyed how this author uses their writing skills and attention to details to make her stories come to life. This book is no different. This is a well written story that has twists and turns like no other. They had me sitting on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what was lurking next. I found the characters to be connectable, strong and supportive of each other. They had me coming back for more as well as made the story easy to read. They have great growth as well as the plot throughout the story. This is a fast paced story that is hard to put down and engaging. I really enjoyed reading this book and I highly recommend it.

The story its self is great. I loved it. Rue and Molly and great characters and I’m sure a lot of people will relate to the mental health aspects of the story. It’s unfortunate Rue didn’t get help sooner as many people in the real world don’t before something tragic like this happens. We see similar cases like this in the news all the time. Can they all be attributed to mental health, no but many can. It is important id you see something to say something!!

The only reason I’m giving it a 4 is because I think it could have been much shorter for the reason that things were repeated and explained over and over again. I heard myself say out loud several times “OK I get it”.

I listened to the audio book. The narrative is pretty good.

I loved this book right up until the ending. If there had been some paranormal reason, or maybe even if she had just cracked under the pressure of her life, I think I would have still loved it. However, with DID being such a heavily stigmatized disorder and those with DID being a group significantly more likely to be further traumatized than to commit acts of violence, using an already vulnerable community as a cop out at the end of this book feels cheap and beyond insensitive. I'm just glad I got it as a free e-book and I didn't waste any money on yet another piece of media that furthers the stigma of a trauma disorder. I'd give zero stars if I could.

I received this book free for my honest review.
This is a book you can easily read during one setting. I enjoyed this book. This author goes into great details, I felt like I was in the accident myself. I think if you have children of your own, you will have a lot of feelings during this book. I did not expect the twist at the end. This is my first book from this author and I’m looking forward to checking out her other books.

I really enjoyed the read , though I felt the ending was abrupt. I needed more about maybe a trial or how we got to the conclusion of multiple personality disorder. There’s a lot of unanswered questions floating .

Just when we finally find out what’s going on in Roo’s head and why she killed her family, the book ends… There was so much potential to keep it going so we could find out more about her mental illness. Molly’s character could have been developed more after Roo tried to kill her as well.

Loved the narration of Kelly Wilkinson, who brings out the suspense, characters and thrills

Great suspense and found myself second guessing myself. Great twist, I did not guess the ending.
A great thriller.

Wasn’t what I was expecting and I think that’s why it’s a 3 ⭐️ for me. And it’s so short it felt rushed.

What can I say. First of all the main characters name… ROO. This book is written in the 3rd person, stupid character, stupid name and the word ROO seemed like it was in every sentence. Extremely annoying and very repetitive. I feel like the author kept saying the same things over and over again. I almost DNF this book, but managed to get through. It was painful and took awhile to read because I had very little interest.
