About the author

John Broughton was born in Cleethorpes in Lincolnshire, studied at the local grammar school and went on to take an honours degree in Medieval and Modern History at the University of Nottingham, where he also studied Archaeology.
John retired in January 2014 and chose the period that fascinates him most – the Anglo-Saxon period – as the setting for his first historical novel. Since then, he has had 28 novels published by Next Chapter Publishing. Most are historical novels, but he also writes murder mysteries, fantasy and sci-fi.

So this is the 3rd book in the series and I’m thankful I didn’t waste my time reading the first 2 for that ending there was so much hype up for a battle that lasted 3 sentences of the last chapter and ended in the main character dying…. followed by an epilogue of his funeral and no updates on the rest of the characters or another book afterwards to me it makes the entire book not worth reading if all of the plot goes to nothing, the main character never did find out about his dad, we never saw his mom again, and there’s so many more plot holes that I’m highly disappointed this was the best Norse book I’ve read but it ended on such a short note.

Excellent storytelling, whilst embracing the historical facts of the era.
I would thoroughly recommend it. I could not out it down.
