There has always been something about Bay, a self-proclaimed flop whose only success, however serendipitously it came, was splashing out of depression.

When every living thing under the water is faced with endangerment, the very unlikely Bay faces her devout kingdom with an answer to their her secret and a deliverance. With this, tides changed for the mergirl. Forgotten was all that she lacked in the her failings, chronic self-doubt, and always being a far swim behind. To her delight, no longer was she discounted.

On the wave of her redemption, which leads to her being celebrated, she discovers something very telling. It hints that in Lucaya, a kingdom populated with pious mermans, she is swimming in waters polluted with a half-truth.

If you are looking for a fantastic new world full of wondrous terminologies from the point of view of a mermaid, Tell Tail is the right story for you. It sweeps you off your feet with its original concepts and emotions.

I read it as an advanced reader(ARC), and my honest review is that you should go for it as your next great read.

Bay is a mermaid who feels undervalued and sees her world below the ocean and above it with a different angle that keeps you glued to the pages till the end.

Especially the natural solid bond between the twin leading siblings Bay and Baouyant.

A human named Finn's contact with Bay adds great depth and meaning to their mutual conversations.

I am not disclosing the end; you should discover it yourself and not miss the suspense and joy of a great new read.

The Mer world of Tell Tail is so vividly described that you can actually visualize its lovely colors and features. You can't help becoming lost in the strong characters and story till you have read it whole.

Enjoy a fabulous new nautical adventure!

An magical adventure under the ocean

This book weaves together Christianity and mermaids into a fantasy filled coming of age tale. Bay is a young mermaid and has a twin brother, Bouy. Together they are members of the royal family and have very pale scales, kept this way by staying well below the surface. Bay’s desire for a little color on her skin brings her to the surface where she encounters a human boy named Finn who she has befriended.
The story opens with a crisis. The “edibles” have been vanishing and the sharks are hungry and may start a war with the Mermen. The way the story ties in with the effects of the pandemic in the Bahamas, and the multitude of sea creatures Bay encounters is truly imaginative.
It’s quite a unique and interesting story over all, and I think this is a great book for kids who love mermaids.

A fun mermaid adventure

This is a fun and positive story with a solid message. It moves along at a good clip and is entertaining. The writing is a bit hard to follow in places–sometimes because of mermaid idioms standing in for English ones, and sometime because of odd formatting or scene transitions. It would have helped me to start with a glossary of expressions and terms so I didn’t have to stop occasionally to try to figure out what was being said. Largely because of that, I wrestled with giving this three or four stars. Three and a half would have been my choice, but since that’s not an option, I went with four because I enjoyed the creativity of the story.

There’s also a fairly strong religious quality to the story, so be aware of that going in.

A journey of self discovery

Bay is a wonderful protagonist. The author did a great job of making her as real as possible, especially considering she’s a high fantasy character. I loved that the underpass was frequented by many mermans long ago.it makes the reader wonder who they were, why they visited the underpass, and what they did while they were there. This shows me the author is deeply interested in the history of her world building.

I hope there will be more books from this author in the future, and aside from some editing issues, the story as well told.

The world of the merpeople is theme that has always appealed to me. This book was unlike any other I've read. The world built by the author is vividly described . The main character is of royal blood and the secrets kept by the royals runs deep. I think it's a great fantasy adventure for kids.
