When reports of a Dogman attack hit the news, Greyeagle and the other Hotamétaneo’o respond to investigate. They soon find themselves tracking a ghost from Greyeagle’s past. A shadow that remains elusively one step ahead of them.
Tracking the creatures brings more questions than answers, with danger lurking behind every tree and shadow. Something sinister is hunting them, always remaining just beyond their reach.
Their investigation not only reveals the presence of the deadly Dogman, but something far worse. An unrelenting, lethal opponent with a taste for the flesh of the Hotamétaneo’o. Can they find the secret and survive the mysterious Land Between the Lakes?

Wow, the mind of D.A. is amazing! I never thought that an Apex Predator book would end in the way this one did, but wow did he ever fire the ultimate curve ball. The ending wasn't out of Left Field, it was back behind the baseball field !
This book by far was the biggest surprise, although pleasant, of the year. It was so good I wish it was longer. I cant wait for the new series, if any studio has a bright mind; they'll make this into movies or a show. The series scratches my brains desire for what goes bump in the night.
Loved this new book in the Apex Predator series...Werewolves, Dogmen, Gugwa, Bigfoot Giant spiders and Dragons...What more could you ask for?..Keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish....
Absolutely amazing characters, settings, but most of all the story lines. It’s like a tree growing in the middle of the universe and the branches connects to many unknown worlds with creatures and Guardians seeking their own definition of life.... Can’t wait for the next chapters...
So I wish the author would put this in a series where I can track it. I think I’ve lost track of events because there are so many characters and stuff going on here. The new dimension is interesting. Disappointed that the Thor guy didn’t seem to have his powers or was that a different book? I was a little disappointed how the soldiers were changing right out in the open where giant arrows could hit them. That just didn’t seem practically smart from experienced hero’s.
...not to be with a large publishing house. I bet DA has amazingly detailed dreams in technicolor, which he converts to written word. His DAVerse would be epic with a really good editor and proofreader, but he needs professionals and not just fans or friends. Right now, he does not write fast enough for me because I want MORE. Now, after the change with the Wylie/Grandfather meeting, I suspect the entire Wylie-Ragnorrak series could be rewritten, and I eagerly wait to see what comes out of this man's head next!
Mr. Roberts has again knocked it outta the park! I never leave spoilers in reviews. I will say that this book adds another layer in the cryptid world. It’s exciting, the details are amazing and the story flows perfectly, your never lost when you read his books but your always thrilled and a lil chilled at those “what if “ possibilities! This is a definite must read!
I love D.A Roberts books. I leaned about his books through Cammeren Buckner's podcast and I have read all of the apex predator, and the wild hunt. I alsom just leand that most of his others books are connected to each other and I will be reading the others. iI wish this was on T.V
This is a good book of this series. It has definite twist at the end that will let the author explore different possibilities instead of the same old story lines. Look forward to the next book
I like this guy’s writing, the story is great. The only concerning factor is finding the right order to read his books. I think it’s guy is a good rider, he crafts his stories very carefully. I look forward to the next story
The action starts immediately, no long build-up and back-story. Bam! The fantasy trip begins. I enjoyed this book with its outsize characters, both good and bad. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
D. A. Roberts did it again! I had so much trouble putting the book down once I started reading it! I do look forward to the continued saga about the "Hotametaneo'0" clan! Will they open the portal or NOT as this adventure continues!
I have long been enamored with Native American-stories. This one contains all the romantic mysticism to satisfy me. The story itself was a nice change and without all the hokey pokey. A good read.
One of the better books have had the good fortune to read! Cannot wait to start on the rest already involved in the characters! They are some of the most fascinating ever.
Loved this spell binder. Now I know what happened to Greyeagle,Shara, and Jason. Can't wait for the new series D A Roberts should never doubt his writing ability. I love the way he uses the same characters you get to feel a connection.
I crave these books of Clark, Greyeagle, all of the characters!!! I'm so sad that I have to wait. But I will be one very happy lady when the next book comes out. Love your stories D. A. Roberts❤
This is one of the best books in the Apex Predator series. Greyeagle leads the Hotametaneo'o to Kentuckys Land between the Lakes were a strange portal has opened drawing creatures to it. Creatures trying to seize its power. Others coming through it causing havoc.
An amazing book. The ending left me in shock! I never saw it coming. This is definitely a new series. This author is awesome. The books just keep getting better. I know that I have never read a series as stunning as this one.
This book brings together the team and the Lakota warriors. It is also non-stop action with secrets revealed. New monsters and magic and fighting are more important than ever.
This was a little different than the werewolf big foot books, but totally awesome. Can't wait for the next saga to come out. Really want to read about this new world that greyeagle Sarah and Jason have gone too.
Liked this one in the series pretty good. Go a little over board at time lol but it is fiction hated to see this one end it was getting really different
New creature’s introduced and the best part, they come from the beyond. More characters introduced as well and looking forward to learning more about them.
3rd time I've read this book. Be ready to suspend your disbelief, buckle up and enjoy the ride! You'll need a scorecard as a battle takes place in the LBL, worlds collide and you learn why you need to "always pack for dragons"!
