I'm going to lay her bare, body and soul, until there is nothing she can hide from me.

If running a successful crime empire has taught me anything, it's that everyone has an agenda and coincidences aren't to be trusted.

So when a pretty young thing just happens to save my brother from certain death I do what any reasonable man in my position would do.

I take her. And I make her talk the way only a man like me can.

On her knees, with her bottom red and burning, she swears she knows nothing about the plot to murder my brother.

Despite every cell in my body screaming at me to keep her, to claim her for my own, I'm forced to set her free.

But as it turns out, Cristina isn't as innocent as she led me to believe. And the secrets she keeps are far more dangerous and deadlier than I could ever have known.

She loves to craft strong, enigmatic men and bright, sassy women to give them a hard time—in every sense of the word.

'Savage King' is the first book in Ashe Barker's "Caraksay Brotherhood" series and it's riveting. A mafia romance, this one comes with situations and strings that pull at the heart. Christina, aka Sarah Robbins, has a routine she follows every morning, which includes her five-mile run. As luck would have it, one morning as she's jogging she sees a man leave his group to relieve himself under a bridge. As he starts to return, four men follow him and proceed to attack. Aaron, the younger brother of Ethan Savage, Mafia Don, finds himself surrounded and ultimately cut and thrown in the river. Christina sees this and lets out an involuntary squeal which is heard by the men attacking. Rather than being caught as they give chase, Christina throws herself into the river and ultimately saves the young man from drowning. But, as most of us know, no good deed goes unpunished, and she soon finds herself dragged out of the river, manhandled, thrown in a car, and eventually a helicopter. Ethan wants answers and it seemed awfully convenient she was there as her brother received an assassination attempt. Of course, this is a mafia romance so you know the chemistry is going to be blazing between the Hero and heroine, and Ethan admittedly being a Dom lets you know there's going to be at least a bit of kink in the telling. What makes this such a wonderful read is the storyline itself. The intrigue, the continual surprises that come with each twist and turn, and the unexpected bombs that are dropped along the way. And good grief, don't let me forget the explosive ending that had me gasping. I can't wait for 'Savage Prince' to see what happens next.

Cristina is out jogging when she witness' someone being attacked and thrown in a river, she saves him, but gets kidnapped by the guys with the one thrown in the river. Ethan has Cristina brought to him after she saves his brother, he wants to know what happened. While looking into her he finds out she's run away from her Moldovian bratva brother and in hiding. Ethan wants answers from her and resorts to some dark methods to interrogate her. Some content readers may find objectionable or triggering so be warned.  It doesn't take long for them to become intimate and it's pretty steamy and there is a BDSM element, Ethan is a Dom, to some of their encounters. The story has some action and violence. There's not too much gore just mentioning what they did to a person, it's not super descriptive. There's plenty of intrigue to keep you hooked. There's a little suspense in a couple parts of the story too.  Then there's the twists in the story, a couple of big one's. The writer had me hooked. Even though toward the beginning there were some BDSM type moments, that was minimal in my opinion. If you're not a fan of that kind of content you could skim that part over and then continue reading and still enjoy this book. There's also a change in Ethan, for the better. There's not much humor or lightheartedness to the story, but it does end with a happily ever after.

Cristina ends up saving the brother of Ethan, who is the head of a mafia family. Ethan doesn’t trust her and questions her motives and discover what she is hiding. Sparks may fly between them but what will happen when Ethan uncovers Cristina’s secrets? Fast-paced dark mafia read with plenty of drama, intense chemistry and twists and turns. Great characters and entertaining story. I loved it.

This is the 3rd book I've read written by Ashe Barker; he has done a great job at writing a good book; I will definitely be reading more of his books.

This is the first book in the Caraksay Brotherhood Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Cristina & Ethan; he’s part of the mafia and when she saves his brother when he was attacked on the beach. He has her kidnapped trying to force her to tell him why his brother got attacked.

This is a riveting first book in Ashe Barker's New series The Caraksay Brotherhood. I became invested in the story almost immediately. The suspense, danger, chemistry and twists and turns not only kept me hooked but also kept me guessing. Christina and Ethan are incredible together, I loved their sizzling interactions. This is an amazing first book of the series and I have high hopes for the future books.

What more can we ask for powerful men, grumpy, oh and sexy and the super strong women learning they are the ones with the real power so buckle up this is a wild ride, dangerous men, alpha personified, possessive, oh, so gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a deliciously story 😊. There will be suspense, betrayal, lies, more lies, secrets reveled, violence, arrogance, kidnapping, saving a crime bosses brother’s life, deceit, threats, manipulating, distrust, deception, honor (family), hope, forgiveness, passion, and maybe just love. (All the great stuff a crime story is made of…just saying)
By the time you’ve figured out who is who and what is what, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter!
Can’t say I didn’t warn you.
This is the first book in The Caraksay Brotherhood series Cristina goes out for a jog like any other day, but this day stood out because she witnesses an attempted murder watching a body be thrown into the river, she is spotted by the attempted murders so jumping in the river with two goals save herself and save the man they threw in the river. She also wasn’t expecting to be take once she got them to safety where the man, she saved his brother is mafia leader. Ethan sexy as all get out mafia leader living on an isolated island off the coast of Scotland, not trusting anyone comes naturally to him especially in his line of business, so when his enemy attempts to murder his brother learning he was saved by a young women and of course she didn’t do it out of the goodness of her heart there has to be an ulterior motive, she has to be after something, or she is trying to plant herself in his small circle of family but whatever the reason he will get it out of her 😊 this is where it starts to get really good because this is where he uses a very unique sexy way of questioning her but he discovers she really is a good person and she really did save his brother because it was the right thing to do. In questioning they are both so attracted it was instant, it was intense, and the magnetic pull between that be denied but he knows she is hiding something from him and he means to find out but oh boy when he does it is worse than he originally thought but she is his, he will protect her with every ounce of the man he is, keeping her safe is a part of his agenda now, she has gained the trust from his brother considering she saved his life, will her father, her brother find out she lives considering she has been living while on the run, and can they find their own HEA along the way?.

“Savage King”, by versatile author Ashe Barker, is the type of story that pulls you in from the very first page and keeps raising the stakes right until the very end. It’s the first book in a new series called ‘The Caraksay Brotherhood’. Dramatic intrigue and mystery are blended together in ways that kept me anxiously turning pages to see what would happen next.

Cristina is a single woman who lives a quiet and humble life. While out jogging in her typical early morning routine, she comes upon a crime in progress. She does something that saves the life of the victim, who was severely injured. Several other men appear and abduct her, whisking her away from the scene and then even further. The man Cristina saved happens to be the brother of Ethan, an extraordinarily powerful man who runs a criminal empire. He doesn’t believe in coincidences, and it’s almost incomprehensible to him that she could have been in the place where his brother was attacked, at that moment. He interrogates her in his own special way, and comes to the conclusion that she may not be in on the attack on his brother, but she’s hiding something. As it turns out, she has multiple secrets, each one bigger than the last. The dynamic between Cristina and Ethan initially buzzes with distrust, suspicion, anger, fear, and lust – then as the story goes on a whole new range of emotions comes into play.

I don’t want divulge too many details about the plot because I thought this was an excellent story, and part of the intensity of it was discovering everything as the author intended. Some things may seem confusing at first, but just keep reading and it all comes together perfectly. There are multiple twists and turns, a couple of which I really did not expect at all. There are a couple of BDSM moments, but nothing excessive. The various settings in this story are described in enough detail that you can picture everything in your mind. Even more importantly, the emotional journey of each main characters comes through vividly. The ending was excellent and made this a book I would read again.

This dark and brutal Mafia-themed book, with all of its diverse characters,
had an overload of triggers from the past to the present that shaped each
of them differently. I have read a good book when I can’t get the characters
out of my mind. I thought I knew where this story was headed, but I was
thrown a curve ball or two.

You would have thought that Ethan had a good reason to be grateful to
Cristina when she put her life on the line saving his brother from certain
death. Instead, he treated her like the enemy, held her captive, and treated
her harshly. I was surprised by the 360 degrees turnabout towards Cristina
He went from one extreme to another, and when danger lurked Ethan
pulled all stops to protect her.

I admired Cristina for her resilience and for her determination to fight
for justice and to reclaim the most precious person in her life. She had
suffered the unforgivable, and with Ethan’s help, her goal was at her
finger tips. Despite her reluctance, her body responded to Ethan’s
dominance time and time again.

There were many layers of complexity in this book, and how I enjoyed
stripping back those layers one by one. Amongst the brutality, there was
just enough light for a HEA. Lastly, the sexual tension was off the charts.
Expect heart-stopping scenes that will take your breath away.

I thoroughly enjoyed this first book in the Caraksay Brotherhood series and am already impatient to read the next. This is such a great story, with so many different plot lines and story twists that it was almost impossible to put down. Yes, there are some discipline scenes (surprisingly not spankings) and a fair amount of very graphic, very erotic, sex scenes, but they are far from the focal point of the story. This is all about the building of a true mafia Family and how each character, right down to seemingly the most insignificant individual, fits into the needs and the fulfillment of the family. In my opinion, were the author to tame down or even delete the super-hot scenes we enjoy so much, this book could easily become a best seller on the New York Times Fiction list and even be sought after for a movie deal. It is that good! I don’t want to ruin your enjoyment of this book with any spoilers, but will tell you there are surprises around every corner. Lots of twists, lots of turns, lots of action and lots of enjoyment. This first story is really all about Ethan and his personal growth and evolution from a crime organization boss to a true Family Patriarch. The next book appears to be Aaron’s (his brother) story. I can’t wait. 5 Stars

In the past, Ashe Baker’s books have been pure Viking romance erotica and not a whole lot of substance from what I have read, but this book brought a whole other dimension of storytelling I haven’t yet see and throughly enjoyed! Of course there was the requisite erotic, bdsm, punishment scenes but those weren’t the focus like a lot of her early books. Ethan was still the morally grey, not sure how he makes his money but it’s probably not legal, male bada$$ character who takes Cristina prisoner after she saves his brother. Obviously. Cristina turns out to be foreign Bratva princess with a reward for her return but also a whole lot more as book reveals through the many complex chapters and dual POVs. I loved all the twisting and turning I the book as we learn more about the characters … it was hard to stop reading until the very end! The next book features Ethan’s brother Aaron and I’m excited to see what’s in store for him as well as next for our current couple!.

First book in a series, but not the first book I have read from this series. I started with an ARC of part 5, got intrigued and binged read the rest of the series. Entertaining series, easy to read, full of action and intrigue, steamy scenes and alpha males and feisty ladies, although sometimes the feisty ladies are too submissive for my taste, and the men too alpha. Like in this story. Cristina witnesses an assassination attempt, helps in the rescue of the victim and as a thank you she is treated like a prisoner and taken to the head of the Savage family for questioning. Ethan Savage soon knows that Cristina has secrets and uses unorthodox interrogation techniques in the form on non consensual sexual administrations to find out more. (would that always be his way of interrogating?) This was my least favorite part of the book. Not because of moral objections perse, but because my imagination doesn't reach so far as to understand how although the main character is terrified, she still takes note that Ethan is a very handsome man and ends up enjoying his sexual torture. Not long after she also has consensual sex with him while wondering what she is doing. Well, I wonder that too. And she still remains afraid of the man who brought her to Ethan. Although I can't imagine that Cristina falls in love with Ethan so quickly, it does happen, and Ethan also starts to care about Cristina. He does what he can to make her live more easy, helps her with her quest end comes to the rescue when’s she is in danger.Gradually Ethan appears to have an increasingly soft side and is able to show empathy.
I like the writing style of the author, the story flows smoothly and is not boring. This story also introduces more people who appear later in the series
A bit more credible love development would be a plus for me,

Savage King is a fast paced, riveting, suspenseful and extremely well written dark-ish mafia romance that makes for one seriously-hard-to-put-down page turner.
I absolutely loved this book. The characters are solidly built, their constant balancing act between crime, ethics and love bringing them complexity and natural growth throughout the story as they draw the reader in with an ever growing chemistry that is both hot and endearing. The plot too, is exceptionally well built with twists and turns to keep the readers on their toes, guessing.
This book caught me from the get go with it’s immediately palpable atmosphere of mystery and danger, and kept me captivated all the way to the end without a moment of boredom.
I very much recommend it.

This was such a good mafia romance with excellent spice and a great plot to boot. Cristina finds herself in a predicament when she is out for a jog and becomes a witness to an attempted murder. The body is thrown into a river and when the perpetrators spot her, she jumps in after it to save the man while escaping. Little does she know she is about to be taken by the other side, Ethan’s men. A mafia leader who lives on an isolated island off the coast of Scotland, takes Cristina for questioning (by some extreme but sexy methods). They soon find themselves in one another’s arms and more secrets are uncovered, including Cristina’s true identity as a Moldavian mafia princess with a dark past who is on the run from her family and brother.

Savage King is the first book in the new ‘Caraksay Brotherhood’ series and tells the story of Ethan Savage, boss of his powerful Mafia family, and Cristina Bival, Moldovan Mafia princess, estranged from her family and on the run. When she comes to the rescue of younger brother, Aaron Savage, she is kidnapped under Ethan’s orders as he has suspicions she was involved in the attack on his brother.

WOW! What an absolutely captivating and enthralling tale. The book is well written, the storyline is intriguing and full of secrets and distrust, twists and turns, drama and mystery and red hot, super sexy sizzling passion with a touch of mild BDSM too. It’s an emotional read with a very satisfying ending. Can’t wait for book 2 in this fabulous series. Highly recommended!.

Ethan Savage is the head of his family empire that is the mafia. Cristina has been hiding from her brother, the head of his own bratva, believing that he wants her to marry his second in command. They meet when she saves his brother's life and Ethan has her brought to him. He wants answers and he will do what he needs to get those answers. Cristina is scared, but she comes to trust Ethan and is falling in love with him. They have a HEA.

This author writes a great story. All the questions that I have along the way are explored thoroughly and I just loved how Ethan grew through the story. He started to help out women who needed the help. It was great to read.

Savage King is the start to a series featuring a Scottish crime family with a great and unique setting in the Hebrides. Even though there's quite a bit of violence, Ms. Barker doesn't dwell on that aspect - which I'm really greatful for. Instead this is a multi-faceted story with lots of layers and I love how we learn more and more about Ethan and Christina as their feelings develop and grow into love. There is a light BDSM element - as is the case with all of the author's books. But again, it is not the focus, just adds to the story. From the teaser we get, the next book in the series is going to be just as captivating.
I'm fortunate to have received a copy from the author and am voluntarily and honestly leaving this review.

★ “You’re here. You’re mine, and no one is coming to save you.” ★

—>>> Exciting first installment for this series - the story of Cristina and Ethan’s meeting was filled with plenty of mistrust, when the pleasant run she was experiencing before she witnesses an attack on a man in broad daylight plunges her into a world of fear and being taken hostage. As his brother was the victim, Ethan has to exercise extreme caution when trying to determine the true purpose behind her being there at the scene. With Cristina’s own reasons motivating her to not be completely honest regarding her own background, Ethan’s suspicions are heightened, but eventually, he begins to feel more than animosity for her, and things begin to steam up between them.

Ashe Barker is such a versatile author and with Savage King she demonstrates this again. Ethan and Cristina are a perfect couple and for an almost cruel mafia kingpin Cristina is the perfect foil. Cristina is no stranger to violence but for eight years she has been living a quiet life until an innocent run turns her life upside down. This is a story full of interesting and compelling characters. It is so fast paced, sometimes gruesome, sometimes hot, sometimes sweet and always fascinating. There are twists and turns and more than one story, a happy ending and the promise of more to come. A not to be missed book well worth reading.

Cristina sees a man being attacked and lets out a squeal, that distracts the attackers and stops it. The victim's brother is mafia leader, Ethan. But he doesn't trust that she wasn't involved, so he "interrogates" his way. During this he discovers she really was in the wrong place at the wrong time and did save his brother, but he knows she is keeping other secrets from him. Their attraction is sizzling, steamy, there are twists, turns, action, drama, and more. I can't wait for more.

Underworld Love

She’s a mafia princess in hiding, he’s a ruthless gentleman criminal. Sarah/Cristina and Ethan were brought up in mafia families, but their world’s collide in the most surprising ways. Their story is now a pretty one, nor is it a traditional romance, but I quite enjoyed it, particularly the suspense parts. There’s some dark parts I had to skim read through, but overall, a very enjoyable read.

I read books 2-7 first and wondered why I never got to book 1. I knew Ethan and Cristina’s story but wanted to read how it all happened. I absolutely love this series, only two more books to go. Ethan and Cristina started off on a bad foot but the more they are together the more you could see their feelings for each other. The push/pull of these types of stories are always a huge draw for me. This non-stop action book is just my style of reading.

The start of a new series is always exciting. And discovering the reasons behind why one would not be grateful for being rescued, why one would hide from family and how to merge trust and truth together makes for a suspenseful read. Ethan and Cristina reveal more than they believe when they match wits and balance ethics.
