Everyone says she should leave the past behind... but Jeannie doesn’t have the heart to reject a sick man, no matter how much pain he’s caused her.
Caught in a moral dilemma that strains her relationships, Jeannie is torn between comforting the man she once loved, or pushing him away to protect her future. I have about 28 minutes left but this book is making me so mad. Thank goodness it's an easy read.
*Spoilers* WHY in the WORLD would Jeannie not look into Luka's medical records? Hello? You divorced a master manipulator and you don't fact check him? Mistake number one. Dummy. Also, she doesn't deserve Aaron at all. This man is willing to do whatever whenever. Giving up sleep, work, time, OFFERING A CAR. And what does she do? Basically says "screw you bye." because her ex husband is sick? Yeah absolutely not. Oh and getting mad that Aaron is seen with Isabelle?! Girl bye. You are 47 not 17. Figure it out already. I'm right at the part where she finds out the cancer is a fake (DUH, could've told you that as soon as he showed up at your door claiming to have cancer!!) And she's over here whining to her kids saying she's an idiot. And her kids are literally validating her saying "no you're not!" Yea you are Jeannie. You really are. If I could go into this book just to slap you, I would. Only because the people around you are being way too nice. You need tough love sister.
Also not only does Jeannie mix up Aaron and Luka's names, but so does the author! That for some reason gets under my skin. Aaron didn't claim to be sick! It was Luka! 😂🤦🏻♀️
Okay, I'm done. I'll never be reading these again. 😂

I like the story but very predictable. Can’t stand how she can’t stand up for herself but maybe that’s how abuse is? I’m not sure.. it was a good story but like what I said very predictable. All i kept saying was “i knew it” and “ugh jeanie please think!!” Lol.
Also, no proofreaders? Or copy editors?? So much mistakes, especially with the names towards the end.
Anyhoo I’m off to read the last book. Hopefully its much better.

I had high hopes for this series as I thought the first book was very good. Interesting characters, good plot...but this 2nd book disappointed me greatly. SPOILER ALERT BELOW.
As someone who has gone through a horrible divorce, there is no earthly way any woman who had gone through abandonment, a horrible divorce, seeing her children abandoned and one traumatized by the leaving of her father AND the experience of being kidnapped would allow the ex to stroll back in like he owned the place. ESPECIALLY when he did so with such gall and entitlement, like the world and his family owed him something. After all the pain he caused, he should have at LEAST been groveling and not so flagrant and haughty. I was literally screaming at Jeannie to stand up for herself AND her children. It just wasn't believable. I have already purchased the set, so I will continue and hope that Jeannie has a turn for common sense, but I'm just not sure. I wish my ex would have come back to town and strolled into my house! REALLY?! I don't think so...
I like the author's writing style, but there were two places in the book where the name of Allan was used when it should have been Luka...your editing staff missed the mark.
We shall see when I finish book 3 if my mind has changed...Jeannie reminded me a lot in this book of my college roommate who couldn't make even simple decisions for herself...frustrating to say the least...maddening at its worst!

The book was fine overall, but PLEASE re-edit it. The names are mixed up so many times it gets confusing. You know they’re talking about one person but use someone else’s name (and not on purpose)
Oh dear we are now in book two and poor Jeannie, she has finally found love with Aaron and he is down on one knee to ask her an important question and who should come busting through the door. Yep, it's Luca....He is trying to get back into Jeannie's life and again after fifteen years wants her back. Basically, he is there though to bring havoc to her life again. Can she stand up to him this time, what tricks will her use to throw her for a loop this time, what about her kids do they understand what he does to her and why she has trouble getting him out of her life when he reappears. Then we look at Aaron, he love Jeannie so much but is he willing to be second to her ex-husband or is that just too much to ask. This book got me so heated because we all know someone like Luca who only looks after themselves and will say or do anything to ruin someone else's life. Will Jeannie find all the answers before it is too late. This is the second book of this series and I can't say I got it free..after reading the first book I had to go immediately and buy this one. Now I have book three to review from Booksprouts and that one should be done and up later today.
The continuation of book 1: Does she choose her hard won new life even though she will hate herself if her ex dies alone? Finally, divorced from Luka, but here he is begging her not to desert him while he is dying from cancer. Everyone is turning against her because she is too kind hearted, but what about what she needs. Can they be right she is too gullible? I dragged through the first book because it was so obvious that Jeanie is too trusting to be allowed out alone. She mistakes a rich man for a regular workman and he immediately is always underfoot. She worries about her 18 year old, but lets her go to California alone to become a model. However, once the drama began with her first husband, I began to get hooked.
I really enjoyed the firsr book in this series, and was convinced that I'd be just as hooked on the second book.... Not so. I really struggled with Jeannie in this one, she was just so spineless that it really annoyed me. Aaron and Jeannie's children are just as wonderful and do their best to help Jeannie find her backbone, Cathy annoyed me to and I felt that she needed a break from Jeannie. Luka remains a great vilain and was the best character for me in this one. I will stick with this series, but I desperately hope to be able to stomach Jeannie once more.
This second book picked up right where the first on left off. Reading through Jeannie's struggle to get out of the pickle she got herself in with her ex and then losing Aaron. The second books leaves off in a cliff-hanger and I can't wait for the next book. Eliza really develops her characters so well that you feel you've known them for years. I am enjoying this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What happened? The first book was great. I immediately started the second one. Not only were there multiple typographical errors, I felt like I was reading the same content over and over. It was a bad case of Deja Vu. The strong female lead character seemed to disappear along with her supportive best friend who had unexplained absences. Nothing happened until the last few pages. The series ends here for me.
Jeannie is finally sorting her life out and making a go at her bakery but then her ex-husband comes back and takes away her self-confidence but she will preserve it just may take her a bit longer. I really enjoyed this book.

I enjoyed book 2 of this series. I love the later in life characters and storyline. It was entertaining, heartfelt and emotional. The book is well written and keeps you turning pages. Book 2 does pick up from book 1 and also ends on a cliff hanger so I'm anxiously waiting for book 3.

This is the second book in the series and picks up where the first book lets off. The author brings strong characters and paints her scenes perfectly. It's well written, moves fluidly and is a great read. It does end in another cliffhanger.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I liked the first book and really wanted to like the 2nd one but Jeannie progressively got more annoying. I think in the end all three books shouldve been combined into one instead of 3 separate stories as well.
I loved it! For me, right now, I need a good story with characters that are believable. A story without poor language and unnecessary explicit overtones. A story to relax in, and enjoy due to it's tone throughout.
Second book in her trilogy, I wasn’t that impressed with the story. Jeannie was manipulated by her ex-husband and it would seem her newly found romance with Aaron may be over. I’m not sure if I’ll invest any more time or money in finding the final book in the series.
A good segue from book 1. The only down side is the printer's devil in constantly transposing the names, Luka and Aaron, which could possibly disrupt the reading flow. Overall an easy Sunday read.
The first book was much better. I felt this was so repetitive. Also, I found quite a few errors in this one that caused confusion. I will read the lat one in the series since I am invested at this point.
I love Jeannie. I really get her. There were a couple of confusing moments where Luka and Aaron’s names were mixed up (editing mishap). Really engaging stories that make you want to read the next one straight away.
This book had me on the edge of my chair all day! I just had to finish it! The ending..wow... Eiliza sure knows how to leave you hanging! I did enjoy this book and am really enjoying the series!
