In the eons he's existed, Animus has been rejected by whole world. Mortals don't revere him and his fellow spirits belittle him. Furious and hurt, Animus concocts a dastardly plan to get back at them all.
Shifters are strongest when protecting their loved ones. What better way to incite that power by capturing one of their own?
But there's one big risk Animus never calculated: falling for the mortal alpha he kidnapped.
Leveret
No one gets Leveret.
He's not like the rest of his family. He's different. And that's okay.
What's not okay is that his family expects him to be mateless forever. Just because he doesn't express himself like everyone else doesn't mean he wants to be alone.
So it's actually a nice change of pace when he gets whisked away by the dark spirit everyone's so terrified of.
Leveret thinks he's pretty cute.
Fated: Hare and the Spirit is an mpreg book with an autistic hare shifter, a scorned spirit, sweet fluff and hurt/comfort, and an HEA as usual! This is the final book in the Pack of Heirs series and best enjoyed in series order.
Hawke is a M/M author who loves the world of MPREG and shifters. In his spare time he enjoys hiking with his dog, hanging out with his boyfriend, and playing video games.
I love this! I haven’t had time to write my review because enjoying this is better than stopping to write my thoughts lmao. THIS IS SO GOOD. Big thanks to you, Hugo my bestfriend for this :) and for all the rants I dumped on you lmaoo
"I will never think less of you for having emotions. You can talk to me about them. I won't judge you. It's better to talk than to keep it inside, where it gets hot and angry, and hurts when you finally let it out.”
Leveret. There are so much things to say about him. He’s autistic. Already know it, soft spot for him since the beginning. His character is so well protrayed. So realistic. The subtle explanation of his behaviour, those confusing interpretations, and then the direct and straightforward thoughts. He also has his own way to express his emotions. Then, the way he thinks and shares his opinions. Add all of that with his alpha self with absolute no shy in bed 👀🙊 just perfect!
“Gods, why wouldn’t this feeling go away?”
Animus is the perfect love interest. Perfect would be way too much, but that’s who he is. He might not give a lot of impact on the book, but on their love, it’s something else. He listens, always so considerate and thoughtful, patient and always try to understand another perspective different than his. Especially when it comes to Leveret. It also makes perfect sense how he was so confused and thinks Leveret is something else. Although some moments really hurt me, it felt nice reading about Animus. I can’t tell you who he is in this story without spoiling, but I assure you his character is sooo comforting.
Their love did not comes fast but once they knew they were all in it together right away and I can’t get enough that they fit together even before everything starts to unfold. Storyline wise, I enjoyed the pace and how easy it is to catch up. I also enjoy the action and fantasy in this book by a lot. Wanted to give this a 4.5 stars but the enjoyment I felt reading this worth a 5.
End of review.
I always love to talk deeply about mental health/neurodivergence in books so here are my thoughts. The representation is wonderful. The best part is, the book doesn’t even try to focus on any part of Leveret’s autism. The message delivered was clear for both NDs and NTs. I can see how people love Leveret and Animus because of how they accepted each other.
As an ND, I felt so real with Leveret. He made me feel real. I adore him not only because of who he is, but because of the world around him. He builds that himself. He knows what he wants, how he wants it and never shy away from communication. And it is genuinely hard for “normal” people to understand him the first time. It is always that way, even in real life. But then, comes Animus who changes everything. Just. Absolute. Perfection. I genuinely think NTs should read this book to understand people like Leveret better. But not only because of the fun behind an autistic character. But to understand, and love the differences.
This was my 1st book by this author & the last book of this series! I never intended to read it fully but it was too sweet not to! I loved Animus & Leveret! They're sweethearts! Read in along 4 hours! RTC
I am a fucking sap this book made me even more of a sap. I can't count how much I teared up at cute moments that happened in this book. Both of the main characters Animus and Leveret are just too good like they literally have no flaws I don't care, I mean that in the best possible way don't worry there's still character development. Even the side characters Hell EVEN the fucking "villain" you couldn't help but feel for them even if it's just a tiny bit.
Hawke oakley books always made me believe in fairy tale and this one just increases it.
The story goes so smoothly from the romance to the plot.
I really enjoyed this book and thought it was a great ending to the Pack of Heirs Series by Hawke Oakley. I definitely think that this was my favourite book out of the whole series. Sometimes you just need to read a low angst, fluff, insta-love story which this is definitely that. I loved the connection between Animus and Leveret. Man, Leveret was an absolute sweetheart, and what you see is what you get. I loved that he never judged Animus for his past actions, and just asked him questions to get to know him and the reasons why he’s done certain things. Animus has done some good for Leverett’s pack but the others are wary of him due to his past actions. Animus has been trying to get his powers back from his spirit brothers since they stole them from him. He hates alphas but he has a really good reason but he doesn’t feel that way towards Leveret.
Animus decides to k*dnap one of the pack and chooses Leveret, as he knows that the rest of his pack/family will do anything to protect him and to get him back. Animus thinks that all their combined fated mates magic will be enough to get his powers restored. I loved seeing Animus get his redemption and that him and Leveret found each other. Leveret was okay getting taken by Animus as he knew that Animus wasn’t planning to hurt him. I found it interesting seeing the reason why Animus’s powers were taken from him in the first place, I really wasn’t expecting that. Leveret and Animus’s son Nova was totally adorable, and I’m looking forward to seeing what his shifted form is when I read the freebie bonus scene next, which was the download link is at the end of this book. I’m looking forward to reading more books from Hawke Oakley in the future. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.
Animus has been a slight thorn in the packs side for a while. He's also helped them at times too. He asked for their fated mates magic instead of taking it like one of his brothers tried doing. To me he's been misunderstood and that comes to light in this book as we see into the past at what really happened to him. I wanted to hug him so badly and give him the all the love he deserves. He has a plan which is as summary says kidnap Leveret which doesn't go like he thought it would.
Leveret changes Animus' plans when he doesn't fight the kidnapping. Says it can't be a kidnapping if he wanted to go with him. He finds him beautiful. Unlike anyone he's see before. Leveret isn't like the rest of his family. He finds joy in simple things like watching flowers grow or picking clover for hours at time. He wants sit on sidelines and have someone that does that with him. His family thought he didn't want a mate but that not true. He doesn't like that they assumed that either. So when Animus took him he was happy to go. When he was told why the he helped Animus.
These two are so sweet and wonderful as they are falling for each other. Leveret is the o of alpha that really has gotten Animus. He's nothing like the man that Animus once had who hurt him after Animus shared magic with him.
I loved the love here and the sex was hot too. What Animus can shift into I called it right before he shifted. He had done forgot himself and his brother didn't know either. He was a magnificent creature. What he did at the end made my heart melt even more.
I'm going miss this series. Hawke please one day come back to them somehow.
I absolutely loved Lev and Animus. They were such interesting characters and so sweet together.
We finally get the full story about the spirits and some things surprised me. The children were present again and making friends. So cute.
It was a nice conclusion to the series but now I'm sad it's over. There were some parts that could have been explained better in the world building but overall it was a complete and nice story.
If I have to say something I was disappointed about, it was that we didn't get to know what baby Nova shifted into. It felt unfinished... I know there are some free short stories that cover some more parts but I don't know how to get them as I didn't get them when I signed to the author's newsletter.
POV: dual Tropes: fated mates, spirit omega/hare alpha, omega kidnaps alpha/alpha likes it, mpreg, found family. Spice: medium (detailed scenes) CW: hateful comments made by spirit family members, mentions of past violence.
This was such a wonderful story! I have never read a book where one of the primary characters has autism, secondary yes, but not one of the main couple. Seeing the world through Leveret's eyes was both unique and beautiful! There is a lot I'd like to say about Animus as an individual but no spoilers here so suffice to say he and Leveret have quite a journey together in more ways than one. You'll just have to read this to find out ;). This was definitely a worthy ending to the series!
OMG what a fantastic 6th book! I just love this series. I get all caught up in this world and the whole crazy pack. I have waited for Leveret's story. To pair him with the spirit of fire...Animus... is genius. I have known there was more to Animus than met the eye. I liked him. This story shows a whole other side to him. And Leveret...it's always the quiet ones who surprise you! I can't recommend this book too much. You are going to love it! Get. It. Now!
Excellent closure, but hopefully not the end! I absolutely adore Leveret! He and Animus are the perfect pair. They are both misunderstood by their respective groups and not listened to. In previous stories, no one asked Animus about himself. They did slowly get an idea of who he may be, but no one asked. Funny, sweet and adventurous. We learn a few truths about Animus' brothers Terranus, Nautilus and Mistral. This is an excellent final chapter to the stories and I hope we can hear more, maybe through the kids? Great story, excellent flow. Well done!
This series was amazing and this conclusion was the best book out of an already great bunch! I loved Animus from his first appearance, so words can’t describe how excited I was when I found out he’d get his own book. Leveret was my other favorite character. I am so so so so so so so happy they were paired together. Their story did not disappoint! I’m just sad that the series is over.
Omg, this one was simply perfect, breathtaking and beautiful. This one was just amazing and a perfect ending to this beautiful series. Two characters that are so beautiful and perfectly written, and you will fall in love with them as they fall in love with each other. Stunning HEA too.
Best book in the entire series! The Pack of Brothers AND Pack of Heirs series. Leveret is just too precious for words. Such a perfect end to the family saga. My only complaint is I wish it was longer because I wasn't ready to say goodbye to Lev and Animus.
A wonderful HEA story about a Spirit and a Hare. I loved this book, sad it’s the end of an amazing series. I loved both series and o hope the kids get their spin off too.
So sad to be finished with this series!... unless there's going to be more? Would love to see a holiday book with everyone. I don't wanna give too much away. If you love the series, you'll likely love this one as well ;)
OMG, I loved this soooooooo much. I lived getting a back story on the spirit Animus, who has been so misjudged and had so much done wrong to him. And Leveret is the perfect match for him too!
Now I need ANOTHER series for the kids of the middle generation of these amazing fates mate couples!!
Animus and Leveret’s story was a beautiful and tender conclusion to the Pack of Heirs series. Leveret’s quiet strength and unique perspective made him such an endearing character, while Animus’s journey from bitterness to love was moving and heartfelt. Their dynamic had a lovely balance of hurt/comfort and mutual acceptance, with Leveret seeing Animus in a way no one else ever had. The emotional depth, paired with the sweet and gentle romance, gave this story a satisfying and heartwarming ending to the series.
