Nora Yates has a dark past, one that means she never wants to find her fated lord and suffer a male's touch ever again. However, when her sister-in-law's brother appears suddenly from the future, broken and barely breathing, she rushes to help him. One touch makes her heart beat, blooding her and determining her fate—she needs to claim him at least once or she'll slowly go mad and lose her mind. Although how she's going to suffer being intimate without her dark memories crashing down and paralyzing her, she doesn't know.
Dr. River Vale wakes up in pain, his new surroundings unfamiliar, and his body weak from his months' long captivity. It's definitely not the same place where he'd been kept prisoner and tortured by a ruthless vampire mob boss's minions. But when a female vampire shows up with the same last name as the bastard who ordered his kidnapping, he lashes out. The look of fear and uncertainty in her eyes makes him pause and wonder if she's actually afraid of him or merely putting on an act.
As River tries to adjust to the fact his sister brought him to 1890 London via her newfound magic, he learns more about the vampire female named Nora. Her damaged soul calls to him as a healer, and when he finds out he's her fated lord, he wonders if maybe he should give them a chance. But will both of their pasts be too much to overcome to find happiness? Or, will being together make them stronger than they ever thought possible, enough to shine light on the darkness of their pasts and create a happy ending after all?
Note: This is a spicy/steamy time travel romance featuring a fae witch hero with a tough exterior but a heart of gold, a vampire heroine who is still overcoming her dark past, a journey of healing, and plenty of heat. It’s definitely not a fade to black book (you’ll learn just what a vampire’s bite can do…)
Jessie Donovan has sold over half a million books, has given away hundreds of thousands more to readers for free, and has even hit the NY Times and USA Today bestseller lists. She is best known for her dragon-shifter series, but also writes about magic users, aliens, and even has a crazy romantic comedy series set in Scotland. When not reading a book, attempting to tame her yard, or traipsing around some foreign country on a shoestring, she can often be found interacting with her readers on Facebook. She lives near Seattle, where, yes, it rains a lot but it also makes everything green.
Book 2 of the Dark Lords of London series This second book of the series gives us the vampire sister of Leo Yates (Book 1), Nora who has lived a traumatized life while she was a teenager, and the brother of Yesenia Vale, Dr. River Vale. Yesenia was attempting to use her Witch Time Bender powers to bring into the past a Fated Mate to a vampire. She did not focus on Nora, but Nora’s Fated Mate is who she has brought back in time- who turns out to be her brother. The story continues as the two try and reconcile their different lives. Jessie Donovan gives us quite a bit of backstory for both of these main characters, which would allow a reader who hasn’t read the first book to read this one with minimum problems. The characters are well developed, and the plot is easily followed. This series is a new direction for the author, and shows that her imagination knows no bounds. I was given an ARC of this book by the author, and this is my honest opinion.
I am loving this series. I very much enjoyed the first book and could not wait to read book two and it is oh so good! Nora is an incredible character, damaged yet strong even after all she has suffered. River is an intriguing, compassionate character whose has been captured and tortured and it turns out he is Nora’s fated mate! It’s a wonderful story filled with time travel, magic, action, adventure, romance, fae witches and vampires and so much more and with each addition it just keeps getting better and better.
Much awaited second book in this series, riveting, exciting characters and storyline Nora had never expected when her sister-in-law had used her gift to contact her brother and sister in the future that she would actually bring her brother back into the past to join her in her new life and home.
River had been held for months by the vampires who had tortured him un-relentlessly over and over again allowing him time to regenerate and repair himself, denied food and water his strength waned and now his abilities had almost ceased. He was overed in wounds, burns and cuts with broken bones that had festered, covered in his own filth he still refused to sign the contract giving the vampires use of his Fae healing abilities to be used in a negative capacity.
Nora had rushed to his aid and as soon as she had touched him, she had felt her heart start to beat, her need for food had resumed and she realised that River was in fact her Fated Mate, she knows that she will have to bond with him or else she will become lost to madness and then her life would be forfeit.
River is surprised to discover that his older siter had possessed magic all the time but that it was a very rare ancient magic that had allowed her to travel back in time to her own Fated Mate. Leo had been surprised when he learned this woman from the twentieth century dressed in a wedding gown had jumped through time into his gaming hall, had removed him from his frozen state and now his life had changed so much and he knew he would not be without her in his life.
Nora although frightened of all men except for her two older brothers and her son Ambrose is aware that she feels fairly calm around River, he has even touched her arm on one occasion to heal her arm and she had not fallen apart which was a major miracle.
As the need for her to join with him to complete their bond and to prevent her succumbing to madness she is frightened as she has never voluntarily allowed a male to touch her, her body shows the scars and bears witness to the cruelty she endured before she had entered her frozen state.
This had all happened to provide her father with wealth to supply his never-ending greed with no thought of the suffering his daughter endured, he knew the cruelty and the beatings and scars even sending her to the most brutal of the men for two contracted periods until she was carrying his child, then as soon as she had given birth, they had been taken without her even holding or seeing the babies.
I will not spoil the plot and you will have to discover for yourself what happens between River and Nora, will they be able to fortify their Fated Mate bond and what will happen to them both. It is believed that every fated mate is specific to the other to help them in their life overcome troubles, strengthen their resolve and bring them peace of mind you will have to discover for yourself.
I cannot wait for the next book in the series, if it is anything like the previous two it will be a complete read-feast where I will have to finish the book in one sitting to discover the outcome.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read. I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.
Late Spring 2022 Newark, New Jersey For six years River Vale has studied under Dr. Dave Morelli to become a Witch Healer. He has hidden away in New Jersey under an assumed name of River Foresst. His mentor enjoyed restoring an old motorcycle and riding in a Motorcycle Club. On the day that was to be his graduation River as abducted by over 10 vampire and an SUV. River has been starved, denied food and or water. He was allowed to heal partially. Derrick Yates wanted River’s power to influence enemies or kill them. He had no idea how long he endured this torture. Then it stopped.
Late April 1890 London , England
Yesenia Vale Yates is now a partially trained Time Wielder Witch. She was thought to have no power at all but it was an extremely rare witch talent. She has worked hard to learn how to rescue her brother and sister from their father and Derrick Yates. She finally is able to bring her brother back in time about 130 years. River is in very bad shape. He is essentially a burned, tortured and starved husk barely alive. Yesenia and her husband send for his sister Lenora Yates to try to help River. Lenora is a vampire with healing abilities. She kneels at his side trying to find a pulse. Then it happens, ‘Nora’ is blooded, she has found her fated Lord. Her lungs fill with air and she breathes for the first time in fifty years. Her heart starts to beat and Nora is horrified.
Nora endured years of torture by men that her father sold her to begat children starting at age 14 to 24 when she entered her frozen state. She does not want to have a fated Lord. She will go mad if she does not allow this claiming but how can she?
This is the second book in Jessie Donovan’s’ new and different Dark Lords of London. I love this new series. There are great characters to fall in love with and a few you will hate. Derrick Yates has a lot to answer for. Can Nora accept Dr. Rive Vale as her fated Lord? It is hard to trust after ten long years of torture. Could River help Nora with this claiming and become a Witch Healer in this time? So many questions! We learn more about the other Dark Lords of London, Willian Khan and Everett Black. They are intriguing to say the least. The last Dark Lord (unofficial) is a woman named Matilda Banks. I like this world. I want to know more about William Kahn the Wielder of Nightmares. This was a great book.
Vampires Fae Witch Healer Dark Lords of London Book 2 Jessie Donovan Dr River Vale, brother of Yesenia and Meadow, had the whole world in his hands. Life was turning a corner. River had finished his apprenticeship to Dr Morelli and life was beginning to become well, normal. River often wondered about Yeseinia and Meadow, but because their Father had evil plans to take over their lives, he was not close to either of them. Yesenia had sent them away for their own safety. But his pleasant motorcycle ride turned on a dime. Vampires had found him, calling him by name meant even more trouble! A terrible fight ensued……. Nora Yates was going about her everyday business, just like always. She was trying not to worry about SIL Yesenia bringing another person through time to them. That was what Yesenia did. She could move objects and yes people through time! But worrying was what Nora did best! Leo suddenly appeared asking for her help. Yesenia had done it brought her brother River through time, but he was in really bad shape! The smell hit her first, rotted, decaying, burned flesh. Nora was a healer of sorts herself. But when she touched River to feel his pulse………..her lungs burned and heart pounded…she hiding Jessie Donovan’s story of romance means more than just finding love, but mixing old with new, recent with past, magic with paranormal! We have vampires mixing with fae witch, shifters, and humans thrown in! Yesenia was a fae witch just learning her trade. Bringing River to London was easier because he was fated lord for Nora. Nora was not looking for her lord, just the opposite. Her life to date had been trying to get over all that had been done to her by males! Yesenia was one of her only friends. Life just turned harder than ever! River and Nora have a very hard time getting to know one another. Both have had lives filled with trauma and despair. The story follows them learning about the other. Nora finds out River is a gentleman, a good healer and ultimately her champion. River finds out that Nora has been hiding for decades from cruel people and also champions others in her own right. Together they fit well bringing the best out in each other! How the story unfolds, you will have to find out for yourself! I highly suggest reading the first book in the series, Vampires Modern Bride.
River Vale reaches the end of a six year Doctor's apprenticeship with a good future in sight, taking over the current Doctor's practice on his retirement.
The only dark spot on his life was how much he misses his sisters, Yesenia and Meadow.
It was for their mutual protection he didn't know where they were.
Late April 1890 London, England
Leo Yates, Nora's eldest brother, is the vampire Dark Lord of London, and happily mated to Yesenia, a time weaver who had travelled from modern day Boston in the first book.
On his arrival in 1890, River is still weak and traumatized from his months tortured by their vampire enemy. He's also out of sorts from wearing three piece suits instead of biker leathers.
At first he reacts badly to where he is, but nursing him, Nora gradually worms her way into his heart.
He and Nora are both damaged in their own ways, and he hopes they can help each other heal.
They grow closer as the novel progresses, though River does swear like a trooper and it's a jolt to the system of the 1890's characters.
This second book really delves further into the vintage world and we meet other new characters like the female Dark Lord, more of Everett Black and his sister Grace.
I'm now officially addicted to this series. I want to see how Laurie and Joseph - partners in the Nyx Pleasure Club develop as well as Lord Khan, the Fae Witch realm and Grace.
They are diverse, interesting and complicated people with different needs and vulnerabilities.
The world building is great and I love how the modern people such as Yesenia and River react to everything.
The PTSD is also handled very well.
There's plenty of chemistry, romance, sexy times, danger and humour to be had.
I love this series.
Donovan has outdone herself with the Fae Witch series and I want many more books.
You'll have to read this to see what happens and to experience the stunning narrative hooks that will lead to other stories.
Nora and River's story was so good! After meeting Nora, I couldn't wait for her story. The female vampire has been through such horrors in her life. She deserved to be free of them and find her happy ending. Though she never expects it to be in the form of her new sister-in-law's brother from the future. One minute River is suffering from horrible pain after being tortured for months, next minute he wakes up in a new setting and finds out that not only has he jumped in time by a sister he thought had no magic but he is the fated lord of a vampire named Nora. His body is the weakest it has ever been and thanks to his magic, his mind is hiding the bits of memory from his time as a prisoner. But it's only a matter of time until the memories come rushing back. As for Nora, she swore never to be with a male again. Her vicious past has left her scarred physically and emotionally. She hasn't even left the home her brother built. But then one touch by River and her heart starts beating. She can't help but wonder why mate match her with River? But as the two of them get to know one another, they begin to realize that maybe they can heal one another. And find the happily ever after they both thought they would never have. Loved both of these characters. Nora's journey of healing is slow but strong as she brings herself to put herself out there with a little encouragement from River. With his support and love, she finds herself wanting a future she always hoped she had but never dared thought possible. And River has the biggest heart but also is so hilarious by how much he curses. The man has no filter and it is fantastic. And just what Nora needs. You don't want to miss this story and this unique paranormal world!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Jessie Donovan, you’ve done it again! I loved River and Nora’s story! Bringing together fated mates from 2 different time periods is always so much fun, I’ve loved both books in the series so far. I always enjoy how in the beginning they seemed so different from one another and have trouble understanding each other. But with time it becomes clear that they are perfectly matched, even if their frames of reference are completely different. In this book I specifically loved how both the characters and romance grew together in a way that made sense given their respective trauma’s. River is amazing and I love him, I wish men in the real world could be so kind and loving (but I digress lol). I’m also glad you added in the extra epilogue, where they visit her safe haven house, it was a perfect way to finish the book. So many couples are hinted at in this book, and I want to know more about them all. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

Nora and River story was heart-warming, sweet with a high dose of healing for the poor souls that suffered and now are put together to heal each other. I loved the way they gained each other trust, how they offer emotional support and strength when they are at their lowest, and how they heal each other from the pain, torture and suffering they had in the past. They are so perfect for each other and complete each other so beautifully, they give confidence and bravery they previously lacked as well they are at their best when they are together. I loved how their relationship blooms, how they tease each other, and how happy and carefree they learn to be. It was an amazing read and can't wait to read what happens next.
What a great read. Nora and River story was sweet and heart warming. I really loved both of these characters. Nora's journey of healing is slow but strong as she try to put the unspeakable horrors she experience in her youth behind her. Also not to be forgotten that River was also trying to heal from his own trauma as well. I don't want to say to much but I just really enjoy watching both Nora and River overcome their pain to fall for each other. Anything where the power of love overcome the imaginable and ends in a HEA is going to be a plus in my book. Overall a fantastic read. So looking forward to the next book in this series. As always my reviews are totally voluntarily and no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are completely my own.
This is the second book in Jessie Donovan’s 2nd novel in her new Dark Lords of London series. Nora is the sister of Leo who is one of the main characters in the first book, “The Vampire’s Modern Bride” and River is the brother of Yesenia who is the other main character in the first book. Nora and River have quite a lot of healing to do to find their HEA. Following along with their ups and downs brings to life the struggles that they each have to overcome. I love how Jessie has these two, Nora and River, siblings of the first two main characters and continues the storyline of her world. If you love time travel, fae witches, vampires and shifters, then you will love this book. Can’t wait for #3 in the series!
This was a long read for me, what with work and all, but I read this in one sitting after office hours. I probably have a "Don't Disturb Me" sign written on my head while I was reading this.
This is one of those books that is hard to put down. I was so engrossed in the story, it was like I was with them as I was reading the book. The MCs are amazing, they are both survivors and deserved a medal.
There was a hint of some future stories in this series and I cant wait to read them.
Absolutely loved the second book in this series. Nora and River both have traumatic pasts to overcome, but together they can do it and just might find love along the way. I really loved these two together and watching them find what life can hold when you open your heart. Can't wait to see what is in store for them and the rest of the family and friends. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the 2nd installment in this excellent new Dark Lords of London series and as great as the 1st. Steamy with a hot, handsome very modern hero and his sexy, vampire bride who he manages to convince to trust. The time travel and contrast between the modern and old adds a great element to this series. Can't wait for the next one

Great second book in this series. It is a standalone story but I would recommend reading the first book just to see the characters as they develop. Nora is still traumatized from abuse she suffered 50 years ago and her fated mate has just spent months being held captive and tortured. They must find a way past their terrors to being the couple fate meant them to be.
Absolutely loved this book. Can’t wait for the rest of the series. I was so sad to get to the end it was that good I didn’t want to put it down. Thank you Jessie for a wonderful book that sucks you in and makes you feel as if you are living right there with them.
I am writing this honest review in for a review copy.
Nora and River's story was so heart warming. I loved how patient River was with Nora and helped her gain the confidence for her to come out of her shell. They make a great couple who both give each other strength to overcome the trama in their lives.
This is the second book in the Dark Lords of London series, and it is so very special! First it broke my heart, and then it melted it! Nora is one of the most damaged characters in all of the books Jessie has written, and River is a close second. I loved them both!
In spite of the unspeakable horrors that Nora suffered in her youth, she still manages to be sweet and loving. Jessie’s handling of Nora’s past and present is so careful and heartfelt. River is the perfect Fated Lord for Nora. Despite, or maybe because of, his own recent trauma, River’s compassion, and patient, loving, nature, made him the only person who could have broken Nora’s ties to her past. Watching these two overcome their pain to fall into each other made my heart full.
This world still has so many layers to discover, and many characters I want to see more from! I can’t wait for the next book, and the next book, and the next…!
