My Past.
My Present.
Eternal Torment.

The past is catching up and everything I used to be.
Alone.
With no friends, no family. I thought I could be me.
That I could laugh. Be free.
Have friends.
I thought I could let myself trust the alluring guys next door.
That I could thrive with words of affirmation—of love and affection.
But nothing stays buried forever.
Certainly not my past.
Now it's knocking on my door, whispering words of hate and abuse.
Of pain, and self-loathing.
Can my new loves save me, or am I doomed, To become one word...

Enslaved

This book was NOT it for me.
I'll try to keep this straight to the point.
There are a lot of inconsistencies in this book along with less than desirable writing - it definitely reads like it's a debut book. I wonder if there just weren't beta readers for this book considering some of the blatant mistakes.

1. I wanted to DNF at 30% due to the awful pacing. Our FMC has been through a traumatic abusive relationship and is diving into a sexual relationship with the guys. The way it happens is so strange because there's no buildup to it, and it happens so quickly. It was honestly uncomfortable to read and poorly written. Even as the book moves forward, their relationship is so far along yet somehow also so shallow. We know basically nothing about the guys. Another example of the awful pacing is Tori's friendship with Grif. It seems like he has dinner with her one night, and then the next day immediately claims her as his best friend/little sister? He takes care of her the way the guys do and Tesa does, but he's known her for LITERAL DAYS. Fucking weird. (Also want to throw in that I do not like that we don't get any romance between Tesa and Grif - their interactions for the most part are like Tesa's interactions with her brother and the guys).

2. I don't like that Tori's made out to be incapable of taking care of herself. It doesn't make sense if you stop to think about it for even a second. Tori's spent years in an abusive relationship where everything she does, wears, eats, etc. is being watched and dictated. But now you're saying she's out of this relationship and she's like a child, not capable of making sure she eats, going to pee, or taking her medicine on time? You would imagine that her responses to things would be that she's scared of being late or not doing what she's supposed to, and yet she's incapable of doing so, so Tesa and the guys have to literally babysit her. It's both embarrassing and also doesn't seem in line given her situation.

3. The ending?? OUT OF LEFT FIELD. No build up, nothing to clue you in that this would happen. It feels like it wasn't thought out at all. The guys believe Anthony that Tori's been sleeping with him this whole time. Let's say we ignore the fact that they've witnessed her trauma reactions and that they know he had cameras in the apartment as part of his abuse. Let's ignore that he literally attacked her recently at the club where they heard her screaming in the bathroom and saw the bruises and evidence of abuse. Let's ignore that. They've literally all spent like every single second of every day with her. Tori is either at work, with Tesa, or with them. She literally gets almost no time to herself in this book, and when she does it's inside her house or in the guys' house. At what point would she have been with Anthony?? Lmao. I get it. The author wanted a dramatic cliffhanger to end this book off. At least make it make sense.

Ultimately, this was a 2/5 star read for me. Not the worst book I've ever read, but I don't think it's well done and I wouldn't recommend it.
I sincerely hope the author has some good beta readers lined up for the second book to tackle some of the problems with pacing, as well as proper build up and setup for any conflicts she introduces.

Five shining stars ☆☆☆☆☆

This is book one of a duet by Jenn Bullard, her debut novel! It's a dark reverse harem romance dealing with tough issues. I think Jenn Bullard tackled these issues bravely and in a wonderful way.

Tori is our heroine. She's had a tough life and an abusive ex who won't leave her alone. She meets the heroes- they're super overprotective and caring towards her in a way she's never known. We get to see Tori dealing with violence from her ex but she overcomes every obstacle. She's a really strong heroine, probably one of the strongest I've read about. I rooted for her the entire book. It felt like her life was MY life- and that's the joy of reading a good book.

I want the next book so bad! This book was a craaaazy ride but I enjoyed reading it. I felt every emotion known to man- anger, happiness, contentment- everything. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book! Five stars!! ♡

Welcome to Jenn Bullard's debut "Living words"!

If you enjoy RH, fast burn, turbulence, ride or die besties and some M&M action, you have come to the right place!

I got this book as part of her ARC Team and really enjoyed reading it 😊 I did have some difficulties with Jenn's writing style in the beginning, there are loads of pet names which are a pet peeve for me 😁, so I can't give the full five stars, but the more I read, the more I got hooked.

Some things I spied from a mile away but especially one thing at the end I didn't see coming at all and had me almost screaming at the screen - insert Cliffhanger here - 😀

To sum it all up: I definitely recommend this book if you enjoy the above mentioned themes! (Please check for possible triggers though if you have them)

I dived into this book without knowing anything about it.
I’m glad I did and what a rollercoaster ride this book is. It does end on a cliffhanger so I’m looking forward to reading the next one. It had me gripped from the first page. If I didn’t have work commitments I would’ve finished this book earlier.
This is Jenn’s debut novel and 5⭐️
It’s a dark reverse harem and there are a lot of triggers so please read these before reading this book. I thoroughly enjoyed this and I loved Tori as the FMC. She’s hard core and is struggling with her life and bad relationship with Anthony who is an arse. She meets Tesa and her neighbours (3 handsome guys) and they are there to protect her. Things start to go wrong with her ex stalker boyfriend. I can’t wait to read what happens next.

I really wanted to like this.
But, I could only make like 25% in before I had to DNF it.

And I only made that far because I got fed up and skipped ahead a few chapters.

I'm going to try to be constructive about this rather than my usually bratty self because I suspect this is the author's first work.
Still, I apologize in advance. I honestly don't mean to be a b*tch.
I promise.

My main issue with this book was that despite it being multiple POV, it was essentially just one POV.
All of the characters, to me, seem very reminiscent of each other in how they speak, their attitudes, and all that stuff. Miguel and his sister, Tesa, the heroines potential love interest and her new bestie, respectively, are the same. When they interact with each other, it's like one person having a conversation with themselves.

I'm not explaining this well.

It's like when you read the RH books where there's however many harem members. Despite them having different names and the reader being told it's 3 or 5 or whatever number of guys, it's basically like one guy because they, essentially, are the same person. Same personality, same way of speaking, same mannerisms, same sense of humor.
That what this was like, except it wasn't just the harem members; it was all of the characters. Tori, Miguel, Greg, theotherguywhosenameIcannotrememberbutI'mprettysurestartswithanL. Even Tessa, the best friend.
The only character who was different was Tori's abusive boyfriend, Anthony.

Anyways, the fact that I didn't really care much for the characters and all of the characters being essentially the same... this just wasn't for me.

This is just MY opinion and could just be a "me" thing, though, so…

DNF 53%

This started off really strong with what was going on with her boyfriend and getting out of that situation, it was well done and realistic.
Once she got to her friends though she has one breakdown then jumps into a relationship with three guys who were dicks to her the day before. She's enjoying things that should have triggered her after her abusive relationship (that she's been out of for a week maybe two at this point).
The final straw was after the guys thought she'd been r**ed in the bathroom at the club (after having sex with one of them) and they thought it was important to make sure she'd enjoyed the consentual sex with her boyfriend before asking what has happened to her?!
So disappointed after such a strong start.

This is a dark romance, reverse harem novel with some triggers, so check before diving in. I thought this was a good book and the story was very addicting but for me, it had a few issues so for that reason I'm giving it 3.5 stars, not the full 4.

The characters, the conflict the connections all worked well but there were times I found the characters bounced back and forth too much in their emotions and actions with little change in their interactions. The FMC Tori has every right to be emotionally all over the place but I felt her reactions to some of the guy's actions were either too over the top or unlikely given her circumstances. As for our MMC's they have some really great genuine reactions to her and what she's going through and then the next time they won't. It just left me a little jumbled with following their feelings.

Would I recommend this book? Yes, I would because it really was a great storyline and those issues I have may not be an issue for someone else.

If you like dark romance and reverse harem then you'll want to give Jenn Bullard's debut a go. I get the feeling her writing and storytelling are only going to go up and up.

Looking forward to part two of the duet.
.
.
.
Tori is in a relationship that is toxic and abusive and getting worse. She has no one though, no family, and no real friends. That is until Tesa from work continues to badger her into going out. When her boyfriend Anthony has to go away for the weekend it's the perfect chance for her to have a night free from him and the stress he causes.

That one night of freedom shows Tori just how messed up her life has become and thanks to Tesa's support she can almost see a light at the end of the tunnel. When Anthony sends her another abusive message it's the last straw for Tori and Tesa is there to help her.
'Never again. I will never be trapped again. I will never have my choices taken from me again.'

Anthony isn't happy to let her go though and she knows it won't be that easy.

After moving in with Tesa she finds out that her brother Miguel and his best friends, Greg and Link live next door. The overprotective alphas aren't happy with Tesa taking in someone she doesn't really know and when they find out the trouble she could bring they are even more concerned.

Each of them is attracted to Tori though and as they get to know her more and more they want her more and more. It seems she may be just what they want and need. After what happened with Link they don't want to let another woman come between them but if she's attracted to all of them as much as they are her they could be great together.
"You sometimes get these shadows in your eyes when you think about things. It makes me want to burn the world down when I see them."

Every time Tori finds a bit of joy and peace in her life Anthony works to ruin it. He wants her back and to punish her and when things get dangerous the guys and Tesa rally around to protect her. But Anthony is evil and he will take everyone and everything from Tori until he gets her back. It will only take one moment for him to strike though and it may cost Tori everything.

Happy Reading.

Living Words is a dark reverse harem romance that follows Tori who is in an emotionally abusive relationship with her boyfriend Anthony who decides one day that she can't continue living with the intense cycle of abuse and ends the relationship and moves in with her work bestie Tesa.

Tesa lives next door to her brother Miguel and his best friends Link and Greg. Tori and the guys are extremely attracted to each other and once they overcome some initial distrust they fall for each other.

Together they try to help Tori navigate her life and emotions, but Anthony isn't prepared to give up Tori without a fight.

Jenn Bullard captures perfectly the array of emotions that Tori goes through day by day. Her moods are all over the place and you can really resonate with the character and how she's feeling. She has spent a long time with Anthony being controlled, she has a difficult relationship with food because of him and she sometimes struggles with interactions with her new boyfriends because the way they speak to her might trigger her.

In amongst all of this, we also have some fantastic chemistry and spicy sex scenes with Tori and her three guys as well as some super hot M/M moments. I love how all the guys bring something different and with the multiple POV get to really see how they each feel about Tori.

This book features a lot of triggers, mainly non con, stalking and emotional abuse.

Living Words does end on a pretty big cliffhanger, but don't let this put off from reading and I know we won't have to wait too long for the 2nd part of the duet.

If you are a big fan of why choose romance and like your books dark, then please give this book a read. You won't regret it!

Holy hell this was an addicting read! 🥵🥵🥵

Spice: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

✨MMFM✨

Tori is my favorite FMC. She starts out as a victim of domestic violence and she can’t seem to leave her abusive boyfriend. But she finally has a girls night with a coworker and they become instant best friends. Tesa, the best friend, encourages her to leave him and move in with her. I loved how Tori didn’t immediately go to the MMC’s and instead we had quite a bit of story building.

Tesa’s brother and his two friends live next door and their first several encounters with Tori don’t go great. Eventually the guys all get to know her better and the four of them decide to start a relationship. I love how sweet and protective they all are of her. It takes a little bit for the spice to begin, but it does start with a bang and it just gets better and better 😉

But, even though she’s left her ex, he’s on a mission to steal her back and continue the depravity. Not to mention Tori is under so much stress at work with all of her authors being so needy. Can her sexy men keep her safe? Read and find out!

But beware of the cliffhanger. It’s a doozy!

Damn, I am having a hard time thinking of what to say. This book knocked me down, tore my heart out & put it back together slowly and then ripped it back to shreds! The characters, the story, the emotions, all of it was phenomenal.

We have our main girl, Tori, who is a book editor (um hello, dream job) with an abusive ex and is trying to heal from the trauma and start over. We get to see here during the last few moments she spent with him, and her gathering to courage to finally leave him. I really liked this, we get to see her vulnerable and starting to heal.

With the help of her new best friend, she has a new place to stay with some smoking neighbors. They each have their own backgrounds, but are the bestest of friends and just work well together. They all have their own baggage, but try their hardest to be there for Tori. I loved them almost the entire book. I really hope for the sake of Tori and my broken heart, they pull their heads out of their asses and grovel!! That damn cliffhanger!!

What?! No seriously WTF? That cliffhanger 😭

Ok ok I've calmed down... at least a little.
It's 3am and i finished reading and I don't know what to do. This book took me on a wild rollercoaster of emotions and now I'm finishing plummeting down.

Tori our fmc has officially left her abusive boyfriend. Like all abusers though he simply won't let her go. An absolutely amazing coworker who turns into her best friend is helping her out.

Tori meets 3 guys who let's be honest don't make the best first impression but they work through that. They begin a relationship that honestly was the best part of this book. Then they mess it up and you're left crying.

This is an amazing debut. The story grabs your attention from the get go and won't let go. The cliffhanger broke my heart. I need the second part of this duet ASAP!

P.S I think all 3 guys need need to be d!*k punched before they start their groveling.

First part to the Unwritten Truths Duet & Jenn's first release!! Jenn did a fantastic job with these characters!!! I can't get enough of them. Tori has had to deal with things no one should have to. Same with one of the guys in her Harem. They've both been through awful relationships and are healing from them. I was sucked in from page one and it was so hard to put down! It's really fast paced & fast burn so we got lots of very hot spicy scenes MM, group, 1 on 1, all of it. Its so good! I can't wait for everyone to get to read this book! The cliffhanger! Holy crap! I didn't see that coming and it shocked me and made me so angry and sad. Jenn really pulled all the stops. Prepare yourself....Anthony....I have so many words for him but I'd settle for a good hard kick to the balls.

You ever have a book that you didn’t want to stop reading? This was that book for me. Unfortunately life got in the way so I couldn’t have read it in one sitting but did I stay up until 3am just reading as much as I could? Absolutely. Did I full name scream the author in a book chat I’m in? Yep. Did I scream at that last page. You bet I did. I’m not ok. I’m alive but I’m barely breathing.

In this book we meet Tori, a book editor with an ex I wouldn’t mind unaliving. Like I wanna get a couple of psycho chicks and their harems from other books and let them have their bloody way with him. He deserves nothing but pain. She’s so…well…she’s not broken. She’s bent but she’s learned to love again. (I’m quoting song lyrics here apparently, bare with me). She meets a new guy who happens to be her bestie’s brother. Then she meets his friends. Fast burn romance but I’m all for it. I’m so anxious for the last book.

This book checks a lot of boxes for me: fmc has trauma, reverse harem, guys with different pasts, best friends. I am happy that I read it and honestly can’t wait for the final book in this duet since this one ended on a brutal cliffhanger. Make sure to check triggers, because this book has several.

Our main gal Tori is in abusive relationship, when she finally makes a friend in Tesa, a work colleague. Tori divulges some of her relationship issues to Tesa who helps Tori remove herself from the relationship.

Tori quickly falls into a relationship with Tesa’s brother and 2 friends who live next door. Their relationship is red hot while navigating the controlling, demanding ex-boyfriend.

Thanks for the read Jenn!

A fantastic read! The FMC is so damaged from her ex boyfriend who is crazy. Three white knights come in and turn her life upside down in the best possible way, plus her awesome best friend that is always at her side. What an ending/cliffhanger that broke my heart though!
Can Tori find a way to fix everything that fell apart, while staying safe at the same time? Can her white knights remove their heads from their behinds before it is too late? 🤬😂
Can’t wait for the second book to see what happens since this one has me sitting on the edge of my seat! 😍 Also the spice in this is perfection👌🏻🥵🌶

Wow just wow! Someone get me some water! 🥵

I love the fact this book had my same sense of humour which had me in tears laughing. Tori’s best friend Tesa, can we be friends to?

Let’s talk about spice! 🌶 I love me a good RH.
The spice was super tasty 😋. Loved the group scenes and of course we gotta love the MM action, which I love when a RH includes. All three guys are obviously very talented which kinda makes me jealous. 👀

Anthony is a piece of 💩 and I can’t wait to see him 🔥

Also damn that cliffhanger! So angry on how they treated her! 🥲

Tori is in a very abusive relationship. She goes out with a coworker, Tesa, and her realize that her relationship with Anthony is not a good one and gives her the courage to leave. In this story of discovering Tori learns a lot of things about yourself and about the situation she ultimately ends up in. Link, Greg, and Miguel are attracted to Tori and become protective of her and do all they can to help. Find out what happens with Anthony? Does she end up with the guys? So much happens and the story ends on a cliffhanger, but has easter eggs hinting At what will happen in book two.

I enjoyed this book. My favorite thing about this book is the friendship between Tori (heroine) and Tesa. Tesa alone is a riot, but when Tori and Tesa are together, shenanigans ensue.

Living Words is a dark why choose romance. Please make sure to check the trigger/content warnings. I highly recommend this book for anyone that enjoys dark romance and why choose romance.

This book was everything I didn’t know I needed or wanted in a book. Tori’s story drew me in from chapter 1. After everything she had been through with Anthony she still was willing to put herself out there with Miguel, Link and Greg. When that trust was broken she had her best friends Griffin and Tesa to lean on and take care of her. Tesa and Griffin showed her just what it meant to have unconditional love and support. Check your triggers on this book as it may not be for everyone. Jenn wrote this book so beautifully and put a piece of herself amongst the pages
