'This book is an important contribution, and I hope it will open many minds. What is particularly important in it are the discussions of David Bohm, of bioplasma, biophotons, and bioelectronics.' - PROFESSOR ZBIGNIEW WOLKOWSKI, Sorbonne University, Paris
"Answers so many questions, scientific and esoteric, about the true nature of our reality... A seminal work... Will revolutionise how we frame reality and the thinking of everyone on this planet. Kudos to Professor Temple for striking the first match to light the fire." - NEW DAWN
The story of the science of plasma and its revolutionary implications for the way we understand the universe and our place in it.
Histories of science in the 20th century have focused on relativity and quantum mechanics. But, quietly in the background, there has been a third area of exploration which has equally important implications for our understanding of the universe. It is unknown to the general public despite the fact that many Nobel prize winners, senior academics and major research centres around the world have been devoted to it - it is the study of plasma
Plasma is the fourth state of matter and the other three - gas, liquid and solids - emerge out of plasma. This book will reveal how over 99% of the universe is made of plasma and how there are two gigantic clouds of plasma, called the Kordylewski Clouds, hovering between the Earth and the Moon, only recently discovered by astronomers in Hungary. Other revelations not previously known outside narrow academic disciplines include the evidence that in certain circumstances plasma exhibits features that suggest they may be in some sense alive: clouds of plasma have evolved double helixes, banks of cells and crystals, filaments and junctions which could control the flow of electric currents, thus generating an intelligence similar to machine intelligence. We may, in fact, have been looking for signs of extra-terrestrial life in the wrong place.
Bestselling author Robert Temple has been following the study of plasma for decades and was personally acquainted with several of the senior scientists - including Nobel laureates - at its forefront, including Paul Dirac, David Bohm, Peter Mitchell and Chandra Wickramasinghe (who has co-written an academic paper with Temple).
A chatty and occasionally digressive discussion of how the slowly emerging study of plasma, the "fourth state of matter," may show how we live in an unsuspected universe of conscious beings made of this powerful, pervasive, and largely invisible substance.
Before I picked up this book I had never heard of the Kondylewski Clouds or that the known universe is 99% plasma--the state that a gas achieves when it is so energized that its component atoms and molecules are stripped of some of their electrons. The aforementioned clouds are two large clouds of plasma that remain parked at Lagrangian points in the Earth-Moon system--pockets in space where the gravitational effects are balanced so that matter can rest there without falling toward either body. The author suggests that all the science points to these (and other plasma bodies) being complex, self-organized systems that are not only capable of being alive and sentient, but are, if anything, vastly more intelligent than human beings or indeed than all life on Earth put together.
With plasma being so ubiquitous (all stars and nebulae are made of it, as indeed, are we to a certain extent, according to the author), the implications are far reaching. The author makes the case that the organization of plasma bodies into coherent, complex, and interconnected systems--living systems--is all but inevitable, and that the universe is a much more lively place than we have imagined. The science that we call physics has concerned itself almost entirely with the fringe phenomenon known as solid matter; "real physics"--the physics of the majority of matter--still lies ahead of us.
It's fascinating stuff, and this author, a trained scientist born in 1945, has credibility, being acquainted not only with much of the hard-to-find and often suppressed literature on this topic, but also having known and even worked with a number of the key players in the field, including some Nobel Prize winners. He comes across as enthusiastic, open minded, and well informed, but also as quirky and much given to asides about the inequities of mainstream science and the injustices visited on many of the geniuses who have done the research. At times he seems like a bit of a name dropper, although in truth he is a staunch advocate of scientists and their integrity. His points are well taken, but in some cases they may distract from the main argument.
But of the importance of plasma and its study there can be no doubt. This is a super-important field for the future of science and humanity, and this book will surely be remembered as a landmark in this still germinal realm of knowledge. It has been observed that new ideas are first ridiculed, then violently opposed, and finally accepted as self evident; the ideas presented in this book are probably early in this sequence. But if you want to find out what the coming centuries are going to be about in science, you can read this book.
When I started this book, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I came to it by recommendation and am immensely glad I followed the lead. Robert Temple's work is groundbreaking, profound, meticulous. He doesn't miss a detail, not even a dirty one. And there is more than one dark secret in his field of expertise. Robert Temple is not afraid to expose wrongdoing, to clarify who, when, where is withholding information and why. He is a great storyteller and it is a great pleasure to listen to the audio book parallel to reading the physical book, because it is he himself who performs the reading - in a highly entertaining way. I have never heard a better book read by the author.
To put it in a nutshell, everything that spiritual people have always known to be true is true: the universe is conscious. Everything has consciousness, the things we have created have consciousness and we're all part of one huge living organism. We are all beings of light, we emit light and there is evidence to prove it. Our sun appears to be one giant storage place for and transmitter of information. Not to speak of the huge plasma clouds between our earth and the sun, not to mention the plasma clouds surronding each and everyone of us.
This book left me stunned, breathless and hungry for more knowledge like this. I hope that there will be many more scientists who have the courage to share their knowledge in this way instead of selling it to the military or industry.
Full of conceptual leaps and cherry picked science. This book should not have the word "science" in it.
Read 3 chapters. Some interesting physics presented, but some major conceptual leaps are consistently made that I feel are misleading the user.
First off are the "Kordylewski clouds". It is pure speculation (as stated by the article that was written by the author) but the book makes you believe that these clouds are actually plasma dusty clouds while there has been no evidence towards that. He literally states, "These two clouds are made of plasma." So take that claim with a huge pinch of salt.
He uses weird phrases like ions include "incomplete atoms" (or more widely termed 'neutral atoms') when they are generally seen as atoms but with a net charge. And then goes on to say only 'whole atoms' are physical matter which doesn't make much sense. What is he defining as 'physical matter'? He doesn't. Is table salt which is made of two ionic atoms not physical? The electrolytes in our body? The calcium ions in our bones? If he wants to state that "physical matter" is defined as neutral atoms, then say it. I've never heard this being defined like this before.
He states non-atomic plasma is the main constituent of the universe, which is true, but it's 99% of the 5% of matter of the universe. The rest as we know it is made of dark energy and dark matter. While one could then debate whether or not if dark matter/energy even exists he fails to mention it.
He talks about creating 'something out of nothing' which he puts in quotes to hint that it's not actually like that (fair), but then on the next page states, "So we see clearly and repeatedly that it does not take something to create something, as it can just as readily be created by nothing." When scientifically it is NOT nothing. This would be the perfect place to talk about how this may 'appear' to be something from nothing but actually is the quantum vacuum (or in the experiment he referenced, the 'condensate vacuum') He doesn't mention vacuum energy at all.
The last page of Chapter 3 that I read that was titled 'A Brief History of Plasma Research' he states that 'plasma people can exist' and that the Kordylewski clouds could be married or in a civil partnership. This actually make me chuckle and all the hate from the logical gymnastics he's been playing made me want to maybe keep reading to see where this all leads.
----
Another book update (sorry, lol). So I jumped to Ch.14 titled 'Electric People' hoping that would get to something more. I dunno, "fun" or at least maybe a chapter that was less susceptible to my nitpicking. Nope.
To sum it up I would say it's about the emergence of biophysics. Sounds cool, right? He focuses on one scientist (that he has met) called Albert Szent-Gyorgyi, who he says is looked up as the 'grandfather of biophoton reserach'. Do you know who actually holds this title? Alexander Gurwitch who originally came up with the idea AND confirmed it with experiments.
So Szent-Gyorgyi wrote this book in 1968 called Bioenergetics that helped paved a way to biophysics. Great! Are you going to talk about or at least mention all the cutting edge biophysics happening today? No, he's going to base all his arguments from this old and dusty tome along with some other papers and such from the 70s to be the basis of his arguments of the book.
For instance he states that there is "no doubt" [red flag] the Kordylewski Clouds are filled with Josephson Junctions (which are precise lab created superconducting devices involving quatum tunneling). These have not been found in nature, only speculatively (Josephson-like behaviour) perhaps in neutron stars where this has actually been modelled (I got this from my own research not his).
He states that superconductivity occurring in humans is fundamental to the argument of the book. He bases this off papers from the 1970s proposing ideas - nothing actually confirmed - and that security agencies have been working on it since then and is holding back this information from us. I mean maybe, but this seems like a tenuous link to base a whole 'new science' book off of. Why not dive into the recent research into the area and then base your speculations off of that? I'd be much more open to learning about all of that - I'm not adverse to speculation and wild ideas but this book is very clearly built on a big house of cards, no foundations to speak of.
Wow! This is the the most exciting book for me! I have listened 4 times in 2 years of owning it in Audible! My favorite astrologer Pam Gregory interviewed this author and opened my eyes to the importance of this subject and this book in particular! Must read!
Wow! Mindblowing is an overused phrase but well placed for this book. It describes a real paradigm shift based on genuine science, meticulously annotated in an academic manner. I got more and more excited as I read on and found it hard to put down. It confirmed so many of my own experiences of psychic phenomena and even stuff I was forced to read in the bible when brought up in the Catholic faith, which I rejected as an adult. However, like Robert Temple, I shall avoid religious parallels. He writes in a playful, humorous, and easy-to-understand way so that everyone can grasp the mind-boggling nature of the book. Basically, he is saying that the Universe is not governed by gravity but by magnetics, and...it is conscious. I finished reading the book with a sense of joy and hope and a delightful affirmation that my work as a Reiki healer, a Tai Chi and Yoga practitioner, and someone who has 'seen' or 'heard' those that have gone before me, doesn't mean I'm mad after all! Highly recommended to anyone in possession of an open mind.
This book is an exploration of plasma as conscious matter. Temple challenges conventional notions of consciousness and offers a new perspective on the nature of reality. His language is accessible to non-astrophysicists such as myself, and weaves a web around plasma physics, ancient wisdom, and the realm of consciousness.
The book starts out describing huge cloud formations between Earth and the moon, called the Kordylewski clouds, which are made of plasma. We then learn that plasma is, in fact, pretty much ubiquitous in the universe, and very much alive, under most definitions of what being alive means. Plasma is highly organized, it reproduces, and feeds off the solar wind. And then Temple connects plasma to consciousness, arguing that plasma possesses inherent intelligence and self-awareness, and must be considered as a conscious entity.
It's not necessary to understand all the scientific information. The bigger picture is the implication of how plasma may be involved in the mysteries surrounding consciousness.
The author set himself the targets of establishing that complex plasma fields may be both alive and have intelligence. In fact he thinks that some such fields may be more intelligent than humans, although that is not such a high hurdle to leap...
While readers may not rule out such possibilities on reading this book, it's clear that the field is not far enough along to support any such claims yet. The author also has a habit of wandering off into areas that are only remotely related to the main themes. Readers need to be patient and really want to study this area to be able to get through it without a lot of skim reading.
Overall, the book includes some interesting ideas, but it really called out for the services of a strong-minded and ruthless editor.
This Is, a science book, but; it's tripping good. It's hard to connect all of the author's dots (we'd need some quantum superconduction or josephson junctions in a cool plasma (or something). But the story he lays out is one both speculative and experimentally observable. How that happens is as much an mystery in the heavens as on Earth. Less poetically this book is very wide ranging and covers plasma clouds between the Earth and moon (who knew) and biophotons during life, at birth and at death. And where most likely are organic room temp josephson junctions? all over our brains. Again, don't ask a simple review to cover this book... read it yourselves.
A quantum physics journey you'll remember - COSMIC MDMA with love and empathy
Everyone wants to know the purpose of their life at some point in their physical journey. Robert Temple will make your life's journey even more fancinating and rewarding when you find out how and why things we take for granted rely on interconnected flow of information and energy in our plasma world and cosmic universe...and perhaps our understanding of our consciousness and a universal cosmic intelligence...The book is thought provoking and should be a school text for opening our children's minds and their understanding of the modern physical world. Robert is a hero...
Narrator had to establish how close of a relationship he had with each of the scientists he was quoting and it seriously took up so much of the book and I’m like yea yea buddy we get it you’re well connected let’s cut to the chase.
Content was interesting but I’m not sure yet how this applies to ~the world as we know it~
I am keeping this book on my "really awesome" shelf to re-read, someday, when I am old and have time to re-visit all the most fascinating things I've learned during my lifetime. Author Robert Temple is a genius-level intellect with understanding of various aspects of plasma physics that are still in the process of being discovered. The book's title is apt because each chapter reveals insights into the complex nature of the way things actually work.
The only reason I hesitate to declare this an instant classic is because Temple has a grudge against the military-industrial complex that has clamped down on scientific research - diverting funding away from new discoveries and into weapons applications. On a few occasions he interrupts his narrative to rant about how difficult it was for him to obtain this information. I can't really blame him, and the interruptions are few enough that they don't distract from the main point. There's probably a lot more in the notes at the back that he edited out of this book.
To summarize his main point: more than 99% of the universe is plasma - a fourth state of matter consisting of free subatomic particles not bound into atoms (fire is one example). The type of matter we are familiar with on earth is the outlier, although the inner working of cells in biological life also contain forms of plasma. There are two giant Kordylewski Clouds of plasma floating in-between the earth and the moon that are nine times the size of our planet which may be super-intelligent life forms. Observed phenomenon like ball lightning may in fact be manifestations of plasma observing us, and one early chapter speculates that much of the religious history we record as divine revelations may have come from plasma entities. Even the sun does not work the way we are conditioned to think it does, cushioned within our clunky solid-liquid-gaseous human bodies. I am amazed at the scope of potential future discovery, and I am eager to see how quantum science proceeds now that this information is becoming more available.
A New Science of Heaven delivers a substantial backbone of collated plasma research!
As I continue to practice biofield tuning, my relationship to plasma and aether has become deeply tactile. Learning about the similar properties and functions between plasma and the biofield (bio-plasma) opened a new understanding of the intimate connectivity between the universe, spirit, and manifested condensed forms of matter. It is under this context as to why I found this book to be so interesting.
A New Science of Heaven by Robert Temple is one of many newly released books that are taking on the monumental task of reconciling the material and spiritual sciences. I came across his work while researching plasma cosmology, the biofield, subtle energy, consciousness and the shifting of paradigms.
Professor Robert Temple is a seasoned researcher in the fields of archeology, architecture, history, philosophy of science, and humanities. He’s a rather interesting fellow with lots of stories woven throughout the book, giving a personal connection to a far out subject. Temple’s style of writing is friendly and conversational as he leads the reader into the realm of plasma and all of its manifested expressions that are continuing to bewilder the scientific community.
A fascinating speculation and thesis, much gratitude to Robert Temple for bringing forth this crux of paradigms to the scientific and spiritual sciences. The timing for this knowledge and understanding is perfect, as we are now transitioning into the Aquarian age.
Don't know that I would follow Temple on all of his leaps (and I know that I'm not qualified to assess the science), but this is a fascinating and provocative journey, nonetheless. For example: In light of what we now know about the predominance of plasma in the Universe, we really need to turn our physics on its head. Instead of trying to model the Universe on the basis of the very rare and specialized form of dense matter found on our planet, we need to treat dense “physical matter” as an exceptional form of the true “universal matter,” plasma. There is no use in our trying to establish universal laws on the basis of a tiny sample of far less than one percent of what exists. We need to establish physical laws on the basis of plasma and specify what we call “physical matter” as a very special and limited case…Scientists residing in the plasma realm could read and study this with the greatest of interest, in the way that we study the strange conditions found in deep-sea thermal vents, astonished that such life forms can exist.
A must read! It took me a long time to get through mostly because I found myself re-reading chapters. I don’t have a strong science background so it was a bit of a hard read but it wasn’t challenging.
He shares really interesting and thought provoking ideas, all backed by other researchers. I also love that on his website he gives some more depth to the book if you’d like to look further into any of the research he mentions.
It was a really fascinating take on the merging of science and spirituality/paranormal. I enjoyed every bit of it and I think this is one book I definitely need to invest in and not just borrow from my local library. Thank you Robert! 🧬
This book explores the possibility of Non-Human Intelligence in complex dusty plasmas. The author postulates that earth's "ghost moons" are living intelligent plasmas that are made of inorganic particles. He supports this claim with actual research that he has reviewed on the topic. I am pretty blown away and left wanting more.
I took away a star because at point he sounds a bit arrogant but hey if I knew this stuff as well as him I might be arrogant too.
This is a fascinating discussion about the physics of plasma, the fourth state of matter. Plasma is essentially clouds of naked electrons, protons, and neutrons, if I understand this correctly. Dr. Temple proposes that plasma has evolved intelligence, and exists as bioplasmic organisms inside our bodies as well as free standing sentient beings outside, including the universe as a sentient being.
Some chapters were absolutely fascinating while others went on wild pseudoscientific tangents (like trying to find plasmoids in the Bible and saying they are responsible for biblical phenomena like the burning bush).
Still, the interesting chapters outweighed the far fetched ones and I finished the book. Plasmoids are intriguing phenomena that should be studied further and a more scientific book written.
Extremely interesting both in audiobook and printed copy. I always enjoy a non fiction audiobook more when it is read by the author. I was unaware of the subject of plasma physics but watched a webinar with Robert Temple which sparked my interest. The book is clear and readable
This is the real deal and ahead of its time. I share many beliefs with this book and am writing my own on a similar subject. He is channeling some really interesting truths here and it resonates with me in so many ways. I just know this has truth in it and you will too.
This was a great book! I really enjoyed the subject matter, especially the Kordylewski Dust Clouds! But I think I need to read more books on plasma physics after reading this one. It really made me think that our spirits are probably made of plasma.
Robert Temple’s humor and intelligence make this an excellent resource. I loved discovering new (for me) thoughts surrounding our ideas of the universe. I feel more aware of the scientific perspective shifts that are hopefully happening today.
I really enjoyed the content of this book, it held my rapt attention throughout. The fact that Aristotle's ether and other spiritual predecessors intuitive insights are validated with this breathtaking plasma science is not surprising to me. I have always chosen to believe in my intuition and have faith in the divine mystery of the unknown and the unseen. The content of this book contains revelations by the author of a scientific explanation of an untold number of phenomena that have been with humanity throughout our existence. This work is utterly brilliant, it effectively provides a bridge between the physical and the metaphysical, and so much more. This work resonated with me so deeply that I just had to read it twice in the same month. Both times it resonated with me wholeheartedly. The reader must keep an open mind and have an open heart to the metaphysical, spiritual, and the unknown. I highly recommend this book and hope it changes the world and blows others minds as it did mine. I can't wait to learn more about plasma and the discoveries related to this beautiful, stunning, and exciting book.
Robert Temple and the whole world of experience in having who and what we are transforming in ourselves as humans. Can be baffling. But we are here and able to evolve ourselves with the artistry and energy of our spirit in every breath we take.
