Look, giant superhuman immortal soldiers mowing down hoards of aliens is a promising premise. It's a rootin' tootin' shootin' good time. Honestly it was silly of me to expect the writing to have any substance and I can only blame myself for my disappointment. The dialogue is about as deep as the plot, so basically a warm kiddy pool. It was fun take a peak at the world of Warhammer 40k, and now I know it's not for me.
A good 40k read about one of the true Champions in the series. This being in very long form shows the development of both Sicarius and Scipio as characters as the get older and learn from the their experiences. One of the reviewers here apparently missed that aspect of the story.
