The one missing person he can’t find is the one who matters the most.
Private Investigator Jax Rodriguez has been searching for his brother, Diego, for twenty years. When he stumbles upon another lead, he makes an agonizing decision—he will follow this last trail until it grows cold, and then he will marry the woman he loves and abandon his quest once and for all.
Artist Mikayla Grant is terrified of losing another person close to her, but she has to let Jax go after his brother. Given the secrecy surrounding Diego’s disappearance, clearly Jax is heading into danger. When all contact with him is abruptly cut off, can Mikayla trust that God’s promise to never leave nor forsake Jax will be enough to bring him safely home? Or does she need to take matters into her own hands?
As Jax attempts to survive the dangerous streets of Caracas, Venezuela, and then face the myriad of unknown threats in the El Yunque Rainforest in Puerto Rico, he is not the only one hunting down his brother.
A ruthless drug lord bent on revenge is using all his resources to discover the truth about what happened to Diego. If Jax can’t stay one step ahead of his pursuer, then he, like his brother, could disappear and never be heard from again.

Wow! Okay, first of all if you haven't read the previous books in the series (like me) then I suggest you do. I haven't and at the beginning I was a bit lost on who the characters were and their storylines. That being said if you don't want to start at the beginning you could definitely grasp what is going on and follow along but I just think it would be a lot more meaningful and you would definitely be more intrigued by what is happening with these characters. I will definitely be going back to read the beginning of the series.
The story pulls you in from the very beginning and you want to know more about the main characters Jax and Makayla. Jax is a PI specializing in missing persons despite him having this past of never being able to find his missing brother that is until he receives a postcard that presumably is from him and he clings to one last hope and goes in search of him. That is when a good portion of the suspense and action begin and it takes you on a whirlwind of emotions.
I really enjoyed the romance in this story as well. Its been a while since reading a book where the relationship is already established and it was nice to just see their love grow for each other throughout the story.
There is a very strong thread of faith in the story as well. Themes fo forgiveness and trusting in God are very clear when reading. Being that I am from Puerto Rico and hispanic I really enjoyed the Spanish phrases throughout the book but no worries the author does tell you what they mean in a way that just flows with the story.
Overall I thought this was a pretty good book and definitely full of suspense and twists! If you enjoy that genre definitely pick this one up (but seriously start at book 1).
I received a digital copy of this book through Just Read. I was not required to post a positive review. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
Walking away carries a terrible price. All Jax knows for sure is that he cannot walk away. When his brother, Diego went missing Jax found his calling - finding missing people. The only problem was that it seemed to be impossible to find his brother.
This edge of your seat suspense starts and ends in Puerto Rico, with discoveries in Toronto as well as Venezuela. Will Jax survive to find his brother, only to discover he is dead? Will he and those who have come to help him realize that the Lord will fight for them and whatever happens is in His plan?
A great ending that brings it all together. This copy of The Night Guardians Book 4 was received though BookFunnel and CelebrateLit. My impressions were in no way solicited.
Forged, by Sara Davison, although fourth in the Night Guardians series, is easily read as a stand-alone book. Davison fills in the back stories nicely. The reader is not left with many questions regarding past events. Forged is a great romantic suspense story. The characters are strong, yet their flaws are portrayed too. The emotions and reactions of the characters are relatable and realistic. Although, I admit I would not be as courageous as Mikayla to travel alone into an unknown situation. I liked how the author reminds the reader, through her characters, that they are not alone. God is ever-present and in control. The importance of forgiveness and family are strong themes throughout the story. A number of twists and turns in the plot kept my interest high. Several times throughout the book, one character or another will ask, 'are you ready for this?' Reader, get ready for an adventure that will take you from the safety of Canada to the dangers of flash floods, poisonous spiders, and a dangerous chase by a drug lord and his thugs found in Puerto Rico. I was given a complimentary copy of the book through JustRead Publicity Tours and was not required to write a positive review. The opinions are my own.
This was a good romantic suspense novel. I haven’t read any of the other books in this series so it was great to see that this book can be read as a stand alone. It was easy to follow and know what had happened in previous stories. I liked how each of the characters had things they needed to overcome and I liked how they turned to each other and to God to get them through their challenges. I liked that it was an intense read that kept you engaged through the whole story until there was the resolution at the end.
I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors. A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own.
I discovered Sara Davison's books a couple of years ago and I must say they have become my favorite in Suspense and Romance Novels. I was excited to learn that Forged by Sara Davison which is Book 4 in The Night Guardians Series was coming out. I have read a couple of the other books in this series and enjoy them very much.
AMAZING from the very first Chapter. I really enjoyed Jax and Mikayla's story. Jax Rodriguez is a Private Investigator who has been trying to locate his missing brother for 20yrs. Mikayla Grant is an Artist and is very supportive of Jax's search for his brother. I LOVE how Mikayla puts her trust in God and his mercy to keep Jax safe as he heads off to another search after receiving another lead on where his brother is. Jax's latest adventures in his search for his brother have many twists and turns and really keep the reader engaged. I was on the edge of my seat reading this book. I can honestly say this book reads great as a Stand Alone book. I enjoyed this book and I want to read the series in order now! I HIGHLY recommend this book and series to anyone who loves Suspense and Romance! GREAT BOOK!
This book kept me reading until the end. I had to know how it ended, and if all the parties were safe, and if all the parties found each other, I love that scripture insights were part of this story. I really don’t remember if I read the other books in the series or not, but I don’t feel like I’ve missed anything by not remembering previous novels. This story was easy to follow and I really recommend it for readers that likes clean suspense. There were surprises in this book that I wasn’t really expecting but it just made the book that much better.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and Celebrate Lit and these opinions are my own.
Thus us the fourth and final book in The Night Guardian Series. Thus is Moist la and Jax's story and what an exciting one it is as Jax goes searching for his brother who has been missing for 20 years. Then when Jax goes missing Milan la has to go looking for him. I very much enjoyed this whole series.
Once again I've enjoyed another, and the last, book in this series! There is a LOT that happens in this story and having just finished it, I'm trying to collect my thoughts.
First, let's talk about the faith that is woven throughout this entire story. Thank you, Sara. Thank you for making faith such a vital part of this story. None of it felt forced, and it had such deep meaning to the characters!
It took me a little bit to reacquaint myself with the characters and their previous stories. It was action packed from the get-go. From being nearly run over to running for their lives, Jax and Mikayla will do what they have to to find answers.
I really enjoyed the Spanish filtered throughout the story. While most I didn't understand, maybe a word or phrase here and there, the author does a great job of either explaining via conversation what was said, through the character's response, or in a natural way as part of the story.
While I loved Jax and Mikayla's tenacity and determination, I kept wanting to yell to them to STOP! But it was easy enough to put myself in their shoes knowing I'd make the same choices. lol There were some surprises that I wasn't expecting, but really enjoyed.
The ending actually surprised me and gave me quite the contented sigh. I'm going to miss this group of people, but I still need to go back and read Guarded, which I bought about a year ago. So, I'm not quite finished with them yet. Just out of order.
*I received this ebook for review. This is my personal opinion.
I found Forged to be entertaining and fun to read. It had excitement from the very beginning until the end. I love the twist and turns. Each character had to learn to trust in God and to depend on Him in the situations they had.
Forged is the fourth book in The Night Guardians series. I have read the third one. I want to read the first two also.
I received a complementary advanced copy from the publisher but the review is my own.
Forged is the fourth book in Sara Davison’s series. I enjoyed the book very much, but I wish I’d read the others first, to understand the relationships better. The first chapter seemed a little slow, as the characters and relationships were introduced, but once the action started, it didn’t let up.
If you like thrillers with good vs. evil, drug cartels, violence, danger, and travel in international settings, you will love Forged. It’s intense! The story features characters of diverse ethnicities, and the book was set in Canada, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico. The author is either familiar with those settings or did a great deal of research. Her descriptions of the food, the cities, and especially the jungle were fascinating and beautifully written. I felt as if I could see, touch and taste everything the characters did.
The main character, Jax, is especially well-drawn. He wants to propose to his girlfriend (heroine) and establish a life together in Canada, but he also feels driven to track down his long-lost brother, even knowing that Diego is probably already dead – a victim of substance abuse and dangerous living in South America or Puerto Rico. He wants to find his brother, but he’s angry with him for disappearing so many years ago. This conflict is portrayed well. Once he embarks on the mission, he’s determined to see it through, but he's not bullheaded. He’s realistic.
A plethora of red herrings and plot twists kept me turning the pages. I thought I knew the answers halfway through the book, but I was completely wrong!
Almost all the characters are committed Christians. Forgiveness and trust are the main themes in the story. Jax and the other characters were in uncertain and dangerous situations for most of the book, but Ms. Davison balanced the tension, fear, and faith well, in a natural way. The ending was satisfying without being too predictable. I do highly recommend this book to readers of Christian romantic suspense and thrillers, and I would suggest reading the other three books first. I intend to go read those now. This was my first book by Sara Davison, and I’m glad to see she has quite a few others for me to enjoy!
If you are looking for a book with action, danger and faith look no further. The author has written a story that takes us from Canada to Venezuela to Puerto Rico. It is a fast moving story that involves secrets, drug cartels, extreme danger and the importance of trusting God.
I loved Jax and how he has never given up looking for his brother. It has been years since he has seen him but he still needs answers to why his brother disappeared. With a subtle hint in the mail he decides to follow his instincts and finally uncover the mystery surrounding his brother’s absence from his life. His deep faith is evident in every move he makes and I loved that he never doubted that God was with him at every step.
Mikayla is a great character who stands with Jax and encourages him to go find answers he has long prayed about. When he doesn’t keep in contact with her she begins to worry that something is not right. Her discernment tells her that Jax is in danger. Her next step to me was a step of faith. Traveling to a foreign country with no real plan of action she relies on God. Her devotion to stand with Jax and support him demonstrates her unconditional love for him.
There are two more very key characters in the story that gave me a gasp when they are revealed. The author does an excellent job of describing the country this takes place in. The food sounded wonderful and the rain forest was everything I could have imagined. The twists in the story were unexpected and at times I could feel shivers running down my spine. There are a few scenes where violence comes into play. I did not find it graphic but for some it may be a trigger.
As the author closes out this series she gives us a lesson in trusting God and how important family is. I loved how Jax never gave up hope and the ending made me cry. One thing that is important that the book illustrates is that “God allows us to go through the fire but we are not alone in the fire.”
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
Forged is the third book I have read by Sara Davison. I think you could easily call me a fan of her writing! I was especially excited to learn that much of the storyline for Forged took place in Puerto Rico. I lived in Puerto Rico in the early 1990s. A quick glance at the book’s contents revealed I had been to many of the locations Sara mentioned. I even worked on the military base Fort Buchanan. So, I knew I had to read the book!
Like the other books I have read by Sara, the story was intense. However, Forged focused more on the action and suspense than on romance. Although the romance was present.
The author shared that private investigator Jax Rodriguez had not seen his brother Diego in 20 years. Jax desperately searches for him, and the search leads him into the dangerous streets of Caracas and the El Yunque Rainforest. Mikayla, Jax’s love interest, is concerned about Jax’s well-being when she does not hear from him after several days. Next thing you know, the two of them are reacquainted and have a ruthless drug lord on their tail.
The suspense is alive and well in Forged, and I wondered what would happen at various points in the book. Would Jax find his brother? Would Jax and Mikayla ever see each other again? Who's dead? Who's alive? How can that be? Oh, that’s how? Would anyone make it out alive? So many questions kept me turning the pages of Forged. Rest assured, Sara answered all my questions and more. Great story!
If you like reading action suspense from a Christian perspective on topics, including a missing person and a dangerous journey, this book is an excellent choice. As usual, Sara did not skirt important, time-relevant topics and wasn’t afraid to share God moments in a meaningful, thought-provoking way.
I highly recommend Forged. I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
Note: I reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, which I received through Celebrate Lit. I was not required to write a positive review or be compensated for sharing my thoughts. I am disclosing this per FTC regulations.
DO NOT DISTURB . . . . READING TIL FINISHED!! Interrupt me at your own risk!
HANG ON TIGHT! IT IS QUITE A RIDE!!
Oh my gosh from the moment I started to read Forged I knew I was in for quite the ride. The latest and last book in “The Night Guardian” series by Sara Davison would be a good one . . . . holy bananas it was WONDERFUL! There were so many twists and turns wondering what was going to happen ~ would it be okay in the end? It was a nonstop journey from page one to the end.
There is so much to say about this book ~ it is a book about relationships ~ between family, spouses, girlfriend/boyfriend, friendships and God. It is about trust – trusting family members and friends as well as totally complete strangers as they come to face dangerous obstacles. It is also about trusting yourself – as what you thought to be true is really true or is it false? It is about love ~ the unconditional love of parents and siblings. It is finding what you once thought was lost. It is about coming full circle. WOW!! I could not put this book down – I kept thinking one more page or one more chapter . . . . no, the ‘do not disturb’ sign was up as I read this from start to finish and truthfully was sad when I read the last page. This book really had it all with action and suspense as well as amazing journeys of all of the characters. Working together as one unit to make it all good in the end.
This is one of the best books that I have read this summer and I highly recommend this book ~ just make sure you have plenty of time carved out of your schedule to read as once you start you will not want to stop this book til the very last page.
I want to say thank you to the author, Sara Davison for an e-copy of this book. I received no compensation and the opinion in this review is mine and mine alone
Talk about an intense read! The suspense begins from the start and doesn’t let up, right along with the conviction and drive of Jax and Mikayla to find out the truth once and for all. Though this is part of a series this novel can be read as a standalone, as the backstory is blended seamlessly with the current storyline, but I would highly recommend reading the other books in the series to get the full effect.
Since it’s been awhile since I’ve been in this series it did take me awhile to get my bearings but once I did it all came flooding back, reminding me of everything that I’ve loved about this series so far. I love that the characters are flawed, bringing a realism to the story that I was here for, helping me build a bond and connect with each of them, especially when it comes to their faith and family, aspects that are very important to this story, but myself as well. Their faith felt very organic, and never forced, but more like a trait that helped give even more character depth.
There are all kinds of twists and turns that are pretty intense, and keep you on the edge of your seat, so much packed in one novel that thinking about it all makes my head spin, in a good way of course. There were some that I truly did not see coming, one big one being the ending! I love a good surprise ending and it’s been awhile since there be a big twist at the end that I truly did not see coming. Love it!
The Night Guardians series has been a wonderful series that I have truly enjoyed, and I think Forged has been my favorite so far! With faith, family, suspense, and romance what more could you ask for?
I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher through JustRead Tours. All views and opinions expressed are completely honest, and my own.
Get ready for another exciting book! Davison keeps the reader enthralled throughout the final chapter of the Night Guardian series, which I fell in love with years ago.
Since so many others have reiterated a lot of the key plot points, I will stick to what I love about Davison's work: solid characters that are relatable, yet also have flaws, great world-building and consistent commitment to detail, a faith arc that varies from person to person (each learning their own powerful lessons from their experiences) and finally, a great conclusion to this series.
The characters throughout the Night Guardians are complex, with heartbreaks and hopes that drive them. They don't have to be perfect to have a faith journey--everything is not black and white, there are a lot of shades of gray, just like reality.
I would recommend this series to any true crime fans who love shows like Bones or Law and Order. If you like strong characters with a commitment to the truth, yet are still relatable and human (!), then this series is most definitely for you. Davison also has other stand-alone books that are tremendous, too. ( Technically, you could read Forged as a stand-alone, but for me, I enjoyed having some history with many of the characters in this series. Just my humble opinion!)
If you'd like to read a new author that has a deep proliferation of work that stands for something, Davison is for you. I would encourage you to begin with the first title in this series if you want to experience it as I did.
I was an early reader, thanks to the publisher. All opinions are my own and I was not required to leave a review.
Forged The Night Guardians Series #4 By Sara Davison
For twenty years, Jax Rodriguez has been searching for his big brother Diego. Just as he is about to admit defeat and propose to Mikayla Grant, he receives a clue that could only have come from his brother.
The future he is planning with Mikayla is put on hold as he follows this lead. A lead that will take him into Venezuela, where all his hopes could be dashed. But Jax is more than persistent and he won't give up until he finds Diego or learns the truth.
What he never expected was that Mikayla would get caught up in this deadly search. A search that could cost all of them their lives.
Forged is the fourth book in The Night Guardians series, and it doesn't let up on the life-and-death action that previous books have had. But this time, it is much more personal. Now this book could easily be read as a standalone title as the author manages to work enough back story in to keep the reader well informed. This book is a suspense-filled action read that offers a good dose of clean romance. Throughout, I believe it is asking what would you sacrifice to learn the truth. Overall, I'd recommend this book. It is well-written, and for the most part, the pacing is good (in a couple places, it seemed a tad slow). The characters are real and relatable as they struggle with knowing what to do, and what path to take.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.
Forged is the fourth, and I believe final, book in Sara Davison’s The Night Guardians Series. There is some character and plot overlap between the titles but I don’t think it is necessary to read the previous books before reading Forged. Obviously you will be missing some information if you don’t, but I think you can still enjoy the story. Forged focuses on Jax's search for his brother whom he hasn’t seen in 20 years. The last time Jax saw him, Diego was involved with drugs and alcohol. Jax’s girlfriend Mikayla is very supportive of his search even though she has had major losses in her life and she is afraid of losing Jax. The search takes Jax away from Toronto into some dangerous and tense situations. Mikayla also gets into some dangerous situations. As with life, the story has its ups and downs, its high points and its low points. Through it all Jax and Mikayla continually remind themselves and each other that they are never alone that God is always with them. This is a good reminder for every reader, no matter what they are facing. While the series is complete, I’m left wondering what is next for each of them. It is my hope that some (or all) of them someday re-appear in one of Davison’s books. Forged is definitely written for the adult audience. If placed in a K-12 Christian school library it should probably be labeled high school only due to the highly stressful situations portrayed in the book. I received a complimentary copy of Forged. This is my honest review.
I loved this book. I’ve actually been a massive fan of this series which I didn’t expect. It’s outside of what I normally read but it is so good! You’re going to love this series! What happens when you’re technically doing something bad but for good reasons? Can you still get into trouble? And how do you explain it?
If you’ve read my reviews you’re going to know I’m a huge advocate of reading a series in its entirety. So this is book four of this series and therefore I’m going to say read the whole series! But if you’re not so inclined this book can be read as a stand-alone book as well. However, I greatly advocate reading all four books. I mean, who doesn’t want to add four books to your TBR pile instead of just one! You won’t get a leaning tower of books if you only add one at a time.
Jax wants to find his brother. He finds missing persons all the time so why can’t he find his brother who went missing 20 years ago? Find yourself off on an adventure as you go along with Jax to track down his brother after he receives a mysterious postcard. Plus find out how Jax and Mikayla are doing and what’s going on in their lives.
This book is a solid Christian novel. You’re going to encounter God and faith throughout.
I have voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from JustRead Publicity Tours. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the FTC regulations.
Forged is book number four in the Night Guardians series that is written by Sara Davison. I have not read the entire series, but they can be read as stand alone books. I will say, this is a book you will want to make sure that you have a nice chunk of time carved out for. once you start reading you will not want to put it down. You will be drawn in within the first few pages.
Private Investigator Jax has been looking for his missing brother Diego for over two decades. It has consumed his life and he has had to make decisions based off this. Mikayla has had a rough past - she is scared of losing another person close to her. When she sees how committed Jax is to finding his brother, she knows that she has to let him go. However, There is a lot going on with Diego's disappearance. When Jax receives a postcard that he feels is from his brother - he knows he has to check it out - even if that means putting the proposal to Mikayla on hold.
Mikayla was a former missing person herself. She understands how important it is to not have someone give up looking for you. We see that Mikayla really needs to lean heavy on the promise that God will not leave us or forsake us. Jax finds himself being hunted and sought out by a ruthless drug lord in unfamiliar territory. The book is well written, there is a lot of true crime elements. I really like the way the author writes.
Thank you to the author, publisher and JustRead Publicity Tours for allowing me to read a copy of this book - all thoughts are my own.
Forged, by Sara Davison, is Book 4 in the Night Guardian series (though you can absolutely read as a stand-alone). Juan Miguel (Jax) Rodriguez is a private investigator, specializing in missing persons cases. He’s been able to help many families reunite, except his own. His brother, Diego, has been missing for 20 years, and all of Jax’s searching has yielded nothing. Mikayla (Mik) Grant is an artist, Jax’s love, and a former missing person herself. She reunited with her family only a couple years prior. She lost her adopted family, and is terrified of losing anyone else that she loves. When Jax receives a cryptic postcard in the mail, seemingly from his brother, he knows he has to follow up, despite the engagement ring he so badly wants to give Mikayla burning a hole in his pocket. But he knows he has to chase down this lead. Mik knows, too, and despite her own fears, leans on her faith in the Lord and encourages Jax to go. Jax finds himself in danger, a hunted man, from the streets to Venezuela to the rainforest of Puerto Rico, trying to stay one step ahead of would-be killers…trying to stay alive. Can Jax find his brother and stay alive? Can Mikayla’s trust in God see her through her own fears, and help her decide what she needs to do to help bring her man home safely? I read this book in one day. You’ll want to settle in and read it, too! I was given a complimentary copy of this book, but my opinion is entirely my own.
Forged by Sara Davison is a work of Action/Suspense. This book is the fourth book in The Night Guardians series. Private Investigator Jax Rodriguez has been searching for his missing brother Diego for twenty years. When he stumbles on a lead regarding his brother’s location, he decides to follow that lead until the path dries up. If and when that happens, he resolves to return home and marry the girl he loves.
Mikayla Grant, an artist, fears losing another person she loves. So when Jax, the man she loves, determines to go to the dangerous streets of Caracas, Venezuela, and then face the myriad of unknown threats in the El Yunque Rainforest in Puerto Rico, she finds herself forced to have faith he is safe.
As Jax searches for his brother, he is not the only one following his brother’s trail; danger surrounds him and Mikayla. The author does an excellent job building suspense and creating characters I enjoyed reading about. I also appreciated the twists and turns the author took in this story. I also think she did an excellent job concluding this story. While you can read this book independently, I recommend reading the books in this series in order.
So if you enjoy works of romantic suspense, check out Forged by Sara Davison for yourself. I recommend it.
So if you enjoy works of Action/Suspense, check out Forged by Sara Davison for yourself. I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.
I’ve read a couple other books by Sara Davison, but this is my first in the Night Guardian Series. And I have to say, it is probably my favorite book that I read by Davison. It’s filled with action and suspense, themes of faith, love and hope, with twists and turns thrown in that will leave your head spinning.
While this book could stand on its own, I wish I had started reading where the journey first begun and got to see all the characters grow and develop over time.
Speaking of characters, I loved all of them. Jax is strong, but also allows himself to be vulnerable. He cares deeply for those in his life–his Mama, his brother, and Mikayla. And he will stop at nothing to find his brother and he will do everything he can to protect Mikayla.
Mikayla, while she not as prevalent as a character as I’m sure she was in the previous books of the series, still plays an important role. She cares just as deeply for Jax, and worries for him while he goes off to find his brother. All she wants is for Jax to be safe, too, but also encourages him to do what she knows he has to do.
The author does a great job at ensuring her readers keep turning the pages, needing to know what happens next. If you like suspense and action novels, I would highly recommend this one.
I had received a copy of the book as part of the Celebrate Lit Blogging Team and was required to give an honest review.
This is the fourth and final novel in a series but the first one I have read. Backstory is revealed in pieces as this novel progresses and what was revealed does help explain the complicated relationships between the characters. The necessary information comes late in the story, however, so this one will be much better understood and appreciated if the earlier books in the series are read first.
The characters and the relationships between them is the focus of this novel. The depth of the relationships is built from experiences in earlier novels. Even though I did not know all of the previous events, I could sense the strong commitments that resulted. Readers who have read the series will be deeply invested in these people and the adventures they experience.
I appreciated all the information on the flora and fauna of Puerto Rico. There is good suspense woven into the adventures there, especially revolving around the danger posed by drug lords. Because of that location, there is much Spanish in the text, some not translated. I found that a bit distracting.
There is a very strong faith message in the novel. It is a suitable book wrapping up this series.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book through Celebrate Lit. My comments are an independent and honest review.
Hang on to your hats! Mikayla has found the love of her life after losing her parents two years previously. What is she going to do now that he has left her behind to go find his long-lost brother? Jax has received a postcard from Venezuela that he discovers is from his brother who he has not seen in twenty years. While Jax was trying to follow the straight-and-narrow, Diego got into alcohol and drugs before leaving his mother and Jax in Canada. Mikayla is worried sick after failing to hear back from Jax for two days, since he had been faithfully keeping the communication lines open. Frankly, I think I would have sought professional help to find him rather than going after him myself, but we already know from the previous story that she is not wired that way. The story starts with the reader wondering if there is any chance that Jax will ever find Diego. Before long, the author has you wondering if any of them will ever see the others again. She takes us on quite an adventure with plenty of action, romance, and suspense. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the stories in this series, particularly as new characters were introduced and brought into the circle. I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
Book 4 of the Night Guardian Series did not disappoint. Each of the other 3 were in my top 10 books of their year and this will likely be as well. While it’s listed as a romantic suspense it’s much more suspense than romance (my preference) and kept me highly engaged from the very beginning. It takes place in Toronto, Caracas, and Puerto Rico and pulls you in to every location. The characters are so well developed that you root for them, yell at them, and cry with them throughout the entire book. Their reliance on God was the most important part of their lives as they kept reminding themselves of His goodness and care.
Favorite quote: “And I came to believe that God was real and cared about me and what was happening in my life. I have been following Him ever since.”
At the end was a heartfelt note from the author as she closed this series. I will miss the characters but know she has more up her sleeve to write!
I received a complementary advanced copy from the publisher but the review is my own.
Forged is the fourth installment from Sara Davison’s The Night Guardians series. Since this is the first book I have read from the series, I feel as though each book can be read as a standalone. I thought it was a good suspense filled tale that had guessing throughout as to what could possibly happen next. I found that the main characters, Mikayla and Jax, made a great team and had good chemistry. They were taken on quite the dangerous journey that had a few twists and turns. I liked it.
Forged will be getting four and a half stars from me. I recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean romantic suspense. I am going back to read the first three books from The Night Guardians series to see what happened previously from this one.
I received a digital copy of Forged from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
Forged is part of a 4 book series by Sara Davison. A romantic suspense thriller that is more suspense than romance, it follows the life of Jax Rodriguez as he searches for his long lost brother Diego. There is a lot of back story to cover during the first few chapters which can cause a bit of initial confusion if you are reading this as a stand alone book. In spite of the beginning bumps, Forged is still a great read. Jax Rodriguez and Mikayla Grant have fallen in love which complicates Jax's efforts to find his brother. He has to make a difficult choice between following love or following family. Follow their page turning adventure as they come up against incredible evil but find an unexpected ally for the journey.
This is the last book int his series and you should read them in order. In my case I have to fix that! Jax is trying to find his missing brother. It's been a really long time, about twenty years that he's been trying to find him. There's a lot of action and some romance, a good bit of suspense. I almost didn't read the last part, since I need to read the other books. Mikayla was strong and I liked how supportive she was. Lots of faith and word is packed into this story.
Thanks to Celebrate Lit for my digital copy of this book. This review is my own and a positive review is never required.
Forged is is the last book in The Night Guardians Series and a wholly wonderful conclusion to the lives of those characters we’ve become invested in. Jax’s trust in the Lord is tested when Jax gets a lead on his brother’s location. Mikayla must challenge and overcome her fears as she loses touch with Jax. Will they be able to overcome what faces them? This is a well written romantic suspense that keeps the excitement right to the end while still communicating the message of God’s faithfulness. A must read.
