A collection of 50 delicious worldwide mac n' cheese recipes from two chefs who have graduated from paper to cloth napkins. With Mac N' All Over The World, the Trap Kitchen franchise goes global.
"variations of cheese-drenched pasta scour the earth for inspiration.. No ounce of cheese ... is wasted in these deliciously outrageous recipes." - Publishers Weekly
"The cookbook spills the secrets on their most notorious dish and ... flavors of regions from around the world." - Ebony
Three years after the release of their first cookbook Trap Kitchen: Bangin' Recipes From Compton and a whirlwind of success later, former rival gang members turned famous chefs Malachi "Spank" Jenkins and Roberto "News" Smith are back with a second serving. Trap Kitchen: Mac'N All Over The World will combine the soul of macaroni and cheese from the heart of Compton with the flavors of regions around the world. From a business that started selling plates through their living room window via Instagram ads to now having multiple food trucks and even a brick and mortar store, Mac'N All Over The World continues where the first cookbook left off, inspiring people from all walks of life to follow their passion no matter what the odds are. And following a year like 2020, the message hits that much harder. It's not just Jenkins and Smith whose lives changed since the last cookbook, either; they'll explain how platinum-selling, Grammy nominated rapper Roddy Ricch went from delivering plates for Trap Kitchen just a few years ago to now being one of their most frequent customers. And of course, mac n' cheese is his favorite - much like a lot of Trap Kitchen's celeb clientele. Just like last time, the cookbook will take another deep dive into the journey of Trap Kitchen's growth since they first made their mark in the literary world.
Thank you Goodreads and Malachi Jenkins for this. Won this as a giveaway and am leaving an honest review.
My son is the chef in the house at 23 and he absolutely adored this book. He said that he never knew that there was that many dishes for Macaroni and Cheese, Especially for different countries. Truly a unique and delicious idea. Superbly done.
Any cookbook that is dedicated solely to Mac & Cheese is an automatic 4 stars from me. The formatting on this was a bit wonky for me (ebook version) so that’s why it’s not a full 5 stars. Will most likely purchase a physical version to add to my cookbook collection because so many of the recipes looked so good.
I picked this up from the library on a whim because, c'mon, it's an entire cookbook about mac 'n cheese!
I loved this cookbook and would consider getting a copy for myself. Though I'm a vegetarian, I thought the recipes they devised could be easily made into vegetarian dishes with simple substitutions of tofu, seitán, or the like. They even had a vegetarian and a vegan recipe!
I highly enjoyed the voices of Malachi and Roberto in their descriptions of the dishes and the instructions on how to make the recipe. It may not be to everyone's taste, but I liked that the parts of cookbooks that are often dry came across like someone was actually standing next to you at the stove teaching you how to make their favorite recipe. It was easygoing and humorous. Yes, there's definitely curse words, so this isn't something you'd want to hand to a little kid, but it's freaking great to read as an adult.
The photos on the cookbook were also top-notch work.
The only knock I would give the book is the font used on the recipe titles. It was a little hard to decipher sometimes.
I won this book on Goodreads and leaving my honest review. This book has some unique recipes for Mac and cheese. I will definitely try some of them. I am surprised I have never thought to make something similar to a few of these.
Amazing recipes! The moment I got the cook book I started looking through which ones I wanted to try and they are all amazing. Easy to follow recipes and good for a budget.
Given the historical importance of Mac and Cheese-written with utmost sincerity, I avoided this cookbook and th as an inevitable of American culture. Then, I was reminded of an influencer video railing against a Food Network show featuring a somewhat blasphemous casserolesque Mac dish filled with chunks of veggies, and..nevermind.
This cookbook offers an 'around-the-world' fusion, even a basic twist on 'Kraft Dinner Mac'. With a kind shout out, aka Foreword, by Snoop Dog and about 15 versions I'm committed to trying, including Korean Kimchi Fried-Egg , Greek Gyro, Moroccan and Philly Cheesesteak Macs.
It's a simple, easy-to-follow guide with straightforward ingredients. For those of us avoiding grass walls and DJs in noisier spaces, this cookbook offers the basic bihs and home cooks at-home entertaining options or a punch up for weeknight meals.
I love Mac and cheese, so I was super excited for a book dedicated to just that! There are so many amazing recipes in the book that I want to try: Crab Rangoon Mac and cheese, general gaos! I had a bag of Ikea meatballs about to freezer burn so I used those for the Ikea Mac & cheese. The sauce was delicious!
So with the adult language in the book, I just wouldn't gift this to an older relative (unless they are fine with the f-bomb). This is a fun book to gift to colleagues. I currently have the Kindle version but would love a print copy for the kitchen counter. There are so many recipes that I want to try with my daughter (I just can't read the the recipe word for word in front of her young ears).
I quickly read this book while waiting for a class to end. I made several OUTBURSTS of laughter. Laughter is good for the soul!! I texted my BFF a few pictures of a few recipes I want to try. I did tell her if these two say CUZ ONE MO TIME I’m headed to PORTLAND OR LA LOL! Minus the swearing I wasn’t expecting that but my child had read the book before I did and asked me to make a few of these. Who would’ve thought having Mac & Cheese in any version you like. A little “Hood” a little “Bougie” or just “Ratchet”? LOVED IT
The not gonna eff with the one grandma used to make has to be the most bland thing I have ever read. If your basic is bland then I am already prepared for the fact that the foundation is a crumbling. I am definitely going to try some of their unique takes on it. But some of these recipes are missing some key ingredients for a good and proper Mac and cheese. Their grandma needs to meet Patti labella.
Great recipe/cook book. Who can resist of whole cookbook dedicated to yummy and unusual macaroni recipes. The book consists of many, many different combinations of Macaroni and Cheese. The best of it's kind. I am impressed with the story behind our chef's in this book. I will definitely be ordering their first book to go along with this one. A recipe for everyone.
There are actually some good recipes in this book, I was impressed! I have tried two of them now, and my whole family approved. We will be trying more soon!
I like this cookbook! If you love Mac-n-cheese this book has Ton of things to elevate it. IKEA Mac with Swedish meatball what?? Looks so yummy that’s what I’m making lol
I have enough cookbooks (shelves worth) but this one on just mac ’n’ cheese recipes caught my fancy and it's not just any old mac ’n’ cheese but recipes with an international flair. How fun. I bought the e-book. First things first, these recipes make big batches so unless you are feeding four teenage boys who haven’t eaten in more than 24 hours, expect left-overs.
All right, I hear you say, then why give it a lowly star rating of 2? I did so because of the horrendous mess of the editing. Flourless Cheese Sauce often became Fourless Cheese Sauce; ingredients listed didn’t always match up with “How to Make It;” and I wish they were clearer as to when cheeses in the Flourless (or Fourless) Cheese Sauce were a substitute and when an addition.
Finally, and I admit this might just be me and I understand the normality of its use in some circles, but the continuous use of a certain S word that also means excrement used in conjunction with my food was a little ‘ick.’
This was a fun book to thumb through and try new recipes. I've altered a few to make them my own. All in all, decent recipe book. Never knew there were so many different ways to make mac n cheese.
