I didn’t realize how far I’d slipped until she met me at the bottom. I’m the last man she should save, but that doesn’t stop me from reaching for her.
Guilt has been my unwelcome partner for seven years. I’ve drowned myself in work, but every close call triggers memories of that day, of him… Of what I did to her. I have to face the past or this vicious cycle will kill my medical career.
Going home, I don’t expect to find her there, still so beautiful with long, dark hair, bright amber eyes, luscious curves. She still dominates my heart, my mind, my bed. Only she’s different now—stronger, bolder, unafraid.
I clearly have work to do. We’re a mess, tangled up in a web I created. But I’m determined to treat these wounds, to heal this break. One thing is certain, I won’t say goodbye to her again.

She returns to Eden, the small island community where she spent the first twenty one years of her life. It's her first time home since she moved away, and she's looking forward to reconnecting with her family. What she's not prepared for is a run in with her ex. Beckham Munroe was her childhood sweetheart. He broke her heart, and it was never quite the same since. Will she finally confront the past and let it go?
Beck Munroe is a doctor at Bayside Regional in Tampa who is in need of a break. He decides to spend some time at his family beach house on the Gulf Coast where he spent his summers growing up. This small coastal town holds many wonderful memories for him, all involving the girl he's loved since he was a kid. Carly has haunted his dreams, and he has many regrets about how things ended. It's been seven years since he last saw her, but when he lays eyes on her again she still affects him like it was just yesterday. He craves her touch, and is determined to make her his again. -We've never been able to deny the power between us. It's as primal as the elements themselves.
-I want her. I've always wanted her.
-She's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
-She's so small for the oversized place she holds in my heart.
Tangled Up by Tia Louise is the final and fourth book in the Bayside Heroes series. This is Beck's story. It's a small town, standalone, brother's best friend, doctor romance about forgiveness, first loves and second chances. It's a beautiful love story full of suspense, angst, chemistry, emotion, passion, and all the feels! <333
This story is a wild ride from anger, sadness, humor, desire and love. Along the way it’s laced with the perfect level of suspense and a story to accompany it that satisfied all I love in romance.
Waiting to learn what exactly had happened between Beck and Carly had me anxious. Learning about their past was heart breaking but just having it out in the open between them was cathartic and I couldn’t wait to find out how they would eventually work things out.
Beck and Carly’s story had me on such an emotional journey, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. They took me on the very highest of highs with their romance, including a chemistry that was intensely hot and required me to switch from heat to air conditioning, stat.
I then plummeted to some of the most insane lows I’ve ever experienced with a book by this author. I was truly wrecked and found myself bawling my eyes out and not so silently cursing T.L. Then she sweetly healed my broken heart and gave me the most wonderful ending I could imagine.

Be Still My Heart... With All The Intrigue... And Another Second Chance... I'm All Twisted And...
Tangled Up is an emotional second chance story with the added bonus of some suspense thrown in. I loved getting to know Beck and Carly and I really liked them, both as their own characters and as a couple. Their pain from past mistakes was evident and so real that it had my heart pounding. And getting to see how strong that made their connection after they allowed themselves to be together was truly amazing. And with the added tension from Carly hiding out from an ex-patient of hers who was after her it really showed on every page just how perfect she and Beck were together.
Overall, this is a sweet romance with a light amount of suspense to keep you captivated. It's part of the multi-author series, Bayside Heroes, but it can be read as a standalone with no issue.
ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.
Tia Louise delivers a sweet and swoony second chance love story for the final story in the Bayside Heroes series, and this one even has a bit of unexpected danger and suspense to go along with the heartfelt romance. Yet another great visit to this world that has captured my heart- I’m not ready to say goodbye to the amazing Bayside world.
Tia’s story focuses on the swoony Beck Munroe- the somewhat mysterious friend of the Bayside crew that we don’t know much about yet, other than we've seen that eventually his heart ends up with a girl named Carly outside of town. And now we get the breadth of their story, as we learn that Beck and Carly were each other’s first loves many years ago. Carly has returned to her hometown of Eden to hideout after one of her patients from her criminal psychology work may potentially harm her. She finds safety in the comfort of her friends and family, but she never expects to confront her past with Beck when their paths cross when he too is visiting home. Their hearts still beat for each other- and in the midst of the threat of danger, a sweet and steamy second chance blossoms.
Tia Louise always knows how to touch my heart with the sweet sincerity of first love, and here we get to experience that through the eyes of two people much older who are reconnecting with their young love feelings. Misunderstandings and time have kept them apart, and it was magical to see them working through the drama of their past and present with that Tia Louise trademark tenderness. Beck is every bit as delicious as the other Bayside men we’ve met- he’s kind, emotionally open, protective and so sweet. He shows up for Carly in all the ways that make my heart pitter pat. And I loved watching Carly’s journey- she’s got some spark, and her connection with Beck felt so authentic- Tia definitely helped build a chemistry that was believable one rooted in history and friendship.
Unlike the other stories, we have a bit of danger and suspense with Carly’s stalker patient that gave this a bit more of an edge. This kept the pages turning. What I missed though was the Bayside Crew. I didn’t dislike the new cast of characters we got here in Eden, but I felt a bit sad that the final Bayside story didn’t center around the crew I’ve fallen in love with. I wished we’d gotten more of them, and some time seeing our other couples in their HEA bliss alongside Carly and Beck, but perhaps these authors will gift us with more in this world- because I adored this series- each author has brought the feels, a bit of humor, meaningful emotional, and lots of heat. I really hope we find our way back to this world one day!
UNPUTDOWNABLE - Once you start, there’s no stopping!
Tangled Up is a brilliant blend of Tia Louise’s signature style. Beck is just the right amount of jaded and broody with plenty of love waiting for the right woman. Carly is witty and vivacious—the exact combo to balance Beck. Together they’re combustible and addictive. Plus those added bites of suspense kept me on the edge of my seat.
This is a second chance romance I’ll never forget!
This series is amazing, don’t get me wrong. But I think this book is my favorite. For several reasons.
Though the story focuses on the romance–of course–it isn’t JUST that. There’s a bit of suspense: Carly ends up back in Eden because she has trouble at work and there’s a sick person threatening her. This element isn’t prominent until the third act, but it brings fast paced chapters that renew the interest in the story. Also, there are several side characters around Carly and Beck, and things happen to them that aren’t connected to the main characters. They are the heroes of their own stories. All in all, it’s top quality storytelling.
A non negligible reason for me to appreciate this book: it’s the steamiest I’ve read from the author. It’s hot and dirty, and there’s also a lot of reminiscences of all their firsts. It was kind of cute. At least, you get the full extent of Carly and Beck’s connection. Their chemistry is incredible.
The medical aspect isn’t forgotten. Even in the bonus story, Beck has lots of insecurities and doubts about his skills and knowledge of medicine. It is what prompts him to come back to Eden in the first place. And he has some trauma that needs to be resolved if he wants a life with Carly. That also was an interesting element.
My main complaint is that most of the story happens far away from Tampa, and we don’t get to see much of the rest of the Bayside crew. I suspected it was the case since Beck is barely in the previous books, but it was a bit sad. I’d have liked to see more of Beck’s interactions with his friends. They aren’t completely absent, so it’s just a minor complaint.
Compelling characters, a gripping story, some hot scenes. Yep, this book is a good one.

A wildly addicting second chance romance with delicious enemies-to-lovers vibes weaved throughout, Tangled Up swept me off my feet and left me breathless. Tia Louise knows how to suck you in from the start and keep you begging for more. Surprising, fresh, and beautifully written. Five stars and a tequila sunrise!
Tia Louise writes a sweet and sexy second chance romance with a dash of suspense.
Criminal psychologist Carly Dennison needs to hideout while a potential threat to her safety is on the loose and goes back to her hometown of Eden to stay with her aunt and see her brother and best friend.
In order to exorcise the ghosts of the past, Dr. Beck Munroe has gone back to Eden never expecting to run into his childhood sweetheart, that’s turned into the woman who still owns his heart.
After seven years apart, their hearts and bodies still yearn for each other, but can Carly forgive Beck for pushing her away?
While Beck and Carly’s chemistry was scorching hot right from the smart and I did feel their connection, I also got a bit of whiplash from their hot and cold push and pull and a bit weary by lack of communication.
This is ultimately a story about letting go of the past and forgiving yourself. I loved Carly and Beck’s sweet and swoony happy ending.
Tangled Up is part of the Bayside Heroes series. Tangled Up is written by Tia Louise. It’s a contemporary romance told from both points of view with a happy ending. Tropes: small town | medical | second chance
Tia, you have once again given me characters that I can't help but fall in love with and get pulled into their world. Tangled up is part of the Bayside Heroes series. Beck and Carly are fabulous addition to this with their second chance romance. They are going to bring on the heat, sweet, angst and oh yes it will have a touch of suspense! Carly is a psychologist that has found herself the victim of a stalker. She returns to her hometown for peace and safety. One of her patients has taken her words personally and feels that she needs justice for what she thinks that Carly has taken away. Beck is a doctor at the local Florida hospital and finds a connection to his old hometown when he cares for one of his old neighbors. He stops by for a visit and never expects to find his old love back in town. This is all about to get very interesting! Carly and Beck were teenage sweethearts but outside forces tore them apart. Now years later they find themselves back in their hometown and face to face with the past, present and hopefully the future. They can't stop the attraction to one another. It is as though it picks right back up as though the years meant nothing. Now it time for truth, forgiveness, a whole lot of feelings. We also have a bit of a stalker issue. Tangled Up has everything I love in a great read! ~~Michele McMullen ~~
Meh and bah I was looking for suspense,, Why did they were apart?? Hmm
Was not enough for me though
Safe, almost Hero celibate for 7 years they were apart Heroine-- i think she was not (she was married to another man, mormon,,, i didnt get if they were having sex after the marriage though...)
Tangled Up is a Second Chance Romance in the Bayside Heroes Series. This is the only book I’ve read so far in the series. I’m not sure if I’d want to try the other books.
So while this book is one of my favorite tropes, this particular second Chance didn’t do it for me. I felt no connection, no spark, love or romance. I wanted to force myself to finish but I just couldn’t. I was getting angry and decided to just let it go.
Something about this just didn’t work for me. I found my mind wandering and I was bored so much while reading I had to finally decide to DNF this at 55%.
An emotional and suspenseful second chance romance that cannot be missed! Tangled Up is a MUST READ and one of my absolute favorites this year. Tia brilliantly wove a smoking hot love story into a masterful tale that charmed me to no end. The PERFECT end to this series.
Okay, this whole series has been amazing, but Beck and Carly's story is wow! Just wow! Maybe it's the second chance romance, or the added level of dramatic suspense, but I was on pins and needles, desperate to find out what would happen next and how things would resolve.
I loved the charming small-town beach setting juxtaposed with the busyness of the big-city hospital. Beck Monroe may be a silver-spooned, busy geriatric physician, but it's clear his heart and his roots remained in the small community of Eden by the Sea where he spent his childhood summers. Add in the mystery and threat of Carly Dennison's unstable client, and the suspenseful drama took this story to the next level.
Then there’s the second-chance romance. I can never resist a good second chance! Getting to know about the younger versions of Beck and Carly and then seeing them overcome so many obstacles was everything! These two are so endearing and relatable, they made a place for themselves in my heart in no time at all.
This is my first contemporary romance from this talented lady, and it definitely will not be the last. She has a new fan for life, and I'll be eagerly seeking out more of her amazing romances. Run to the 1-Click and start reading this heartfelt, steamy, phenomenal second chance romance today!
5 star Review Tangled Up by Tia Louise What a great addition to The Bayside heroes series Tangled Up was. Having read a number of books by Tia Louise I couldn’t wait to read this book. As I have come to expect from her stories, it was well written with characters whose story you quickly become invested in and was one I had a hard time putting down. From the first chapter to the last I was hooked on the story she wove about Beck and Carly’s second chance at love. The road they travel is rocky and if they can come to terms with the past, meet the danger that is circling them head on and survive, then they have a real chance at the forever happiness that they both deserve. In my opinion Tia Louise is one of the best writers of romantic suspense. There are equal parts of romance and suspense which will keep you on the edge of your seats. The characters are engaging and you can feel their emotions as they come together again thanks to Carly’s family who I adored.
This second chance romance is an emotional and exciting read. I have to admit that I was initially a bit hesitant at the speed with which these two MCs, Carly and Beck, got back together. However, their emotional growth back into forever love was well written and well paced. Add in a bit of excitement, a lot of swoony romance and love and a fantastic cast of characters and I was drawn in completely into this story. This book is a part of a 4 book series of interconnected romances and this series has been a wonderful gift from 4 talented authors who managed to be so cohesive while still keeping their own voices. This story, a beautiful romance that showcases how first loves can truly be forever loves at the right time, was a delight to read.
Sweet, swoony and unexpectedly suspenseful, Tangled Up was a captivating read and a perfect crescendo to the Bayside Heroes series.
With a great sense of redemption, this second chance romance perfectly encapsulates both the sweet sincerity of the small moments and the high octane burn of sizzling chemistry. Tied together with a touching plotline and inspirational tenderness towards mental health issues, this was a captivating story, that's bound to touch your heart.
Tangled Up in the fourth and final book in the Bayside Heroes series. Each book is a complete standalone and written by different authors. This is only the second book I have read by Tia Louise (first book was read back in 2015) and I am not sure why I have not read more by her before.
Tangled Up is a second chance romance that features Beck and his past love, Carly. I thought the previous book in this series was my favorite, but this one is definitely right there for enjoyment but more on the suspense aspect.
Tia really knows how to build and keep readers locked into this story without feeling as things are being drawn out too far. I enjoyed every aspect of this story. Is it a slow burn romance, but it also has a lot of suspense that adds to the thrills of this story.
Overall, this series could not have ended on a better note. Highly, highly recommend not only this book, but the whole series.
I knew I would love this book. Tia Louise always gives me a fantastic romance with the perfect amount of heat. Add in its Second Chance. Yep I knew it! But I wasn't prepared!!! She hit me with a hero carrying a heartbreaking guilt. I wanted to hug him! Shit hit me with some suspense and an action scene that had me on the edge of my seat. But Oh My Goodness she gave me the sweetest most touching HEA. I was all choked up with tears rolling down my face as I read the last few chapters.
I usually really enjoy this author, but for some reason while reading this one I kept thinking Carly could do better than Beck, which is a bit of an issue when it's a romance.
Have you ever wondered just what your first love is up to in life, only to find that they’re in the same boat of misery and regret that you are? And at the same time? If so, welcome to the beautiful, painful, utterly perfect tale of how Beck and Carly came to be, fell apart, and now seem to be thrust together on this same patch of land years later. The innocence that’s lost, the regret and sadness between them, the explosion of chemistry that still remains, and he secrets they both keep are there, just waiting to all be addressed. Sure, it seems impossible to find their happiness again. Carly doesn’t need or want to be destroyed again, while Beck doesn’t want to live without her again. And it helps that her family is crafty enough to put them in each other’s path more than once now. They just have to get past the danger one party doesn’t believe is truly danger and then it’s smooth sailing.
Of course, that danger and the secrets and one big lie are sort of issues. As in, someone has a lot of resentment, someone else has a lot of anger, and one of those two someones had the means to make it all better but refused to because of bitterness. Finding out who does what and the secrets that are still waiting to be shared made for a read I didn’t want to put down. After all, it’s not every day your first love can also be your last. It helps that Carly’s family is wonderful, an old man is the catalyst to set all of this in motion, and maybe another party will see the error of their ways. I hope to see more of this group because I know that at least a few have good stories waiting to be told!
Tangled Up by Tia Louise is a steamy contemporary small-town second-chance romance, and the last book in the Bayside Heroes series—a series of four interconnected standalone medical romances by the following bestselling authors: Kandi Steiner, Harloe Rae, K.K. Allen, and Tia Louise. Tangled Up is told in first person dual POV as it follows the relationship between Beck Munroe, an internist specializing in geriatrics, and Carly Dennison, a criminal psychologist and Beck’s first love.
After an accident fills the ER with patients, memories from the past rise to the surface. Beck can’t ignore the ghosts that haunt him anymore, so he goes back to the small town where he grew up so he can face his demons. As fate would have it, Carly is in town too. After she received threatening messages from one of her patients—a female prisoner who went MIA while out on a limited visitation furlough—Carly’s police chief sent her to her hometown to hide out until they locate the missing patient.
Beck and Carly were each other's first everything, but things didn’t end well. It’s been seven years since they’ve seen each other, and neither is happy about unexpectedly coming face to face. But they can’t resist the enduring pull toward each other either. Will Carly and Beck rekindle their flame? Or will danger snuff it out before they even get the chance?
I loved Carly and Beck’s story! As characters, they were fully fleshed out, relatable, realistic, and likeable. Beck and Carly have scorching hot chemistry. They also have matching baggage, both harboring pain and resentment toward each other from their previous relationship. Additionally, Beck is carrying a secret from the past that he needs to confess. I enjoyed seeing them reconnect and watching their relationship grow and develop as they got to know each other again. Tangled Up is sexy, suspenseful, and romantic—a fantastic addition to a great series.
I absolutely loved and completely devoured this heart-pounding, and swoony, second-chance romance! Louise captured me right from the start with her enchanting story, and intriguingly rich characters. This is the last story in the Bayside Heroes series and I was so excited to read more about Beck Munroe. We didn't find out much about him in the other stories except he's a broody, successful Doctor. He is haunted by things in his past, especially about losing the one woman he has ever loved, who got away. When he treats someone he knows from his past, he decides to head back to his summer beach home from his youth to check up on his patient. What he didn't expect, was to find the love of his life to be back in town as well. Carly Dennison is a criminal psychologist who is laying low in her home town when a threat is made against her life. It is great to be home and reconnect with family and friends. What she didn't expect was the extreme emotions that would resurface when she sees Beck again. He was her first everything and could never forget him and the heartbreak he caused her. They both have so many unresolved feelings and regrets, but their chemistry is more explosive than ever. Beck wants to make up for his past actions, and wants to show Carly that she can trust him to never hurt her again. But just as they start to find the future together that they always dreamed of, the danger to Carly threatens to end her for good. Beck and Carly are both flawed and carry emotional scars and secrets, but have such strength, resilience and beautiful hearts of gold. Beck is so swoony with his patients and how protective he is of Carly and she is a great heroine. I love them both along with Carly's family and best friend, Jessica, who all add so much humor, and unconditional love and support to each other. There are many sweet and funny moments as well as heart pounding suspense that made it impossible for me to stop reading! This is a moving, and heartwarming story about healing, family, and second chances at love. This Bayside Heroes series was so much fun and Tangled Up was a great way to wrap up these amazing heroes!
I instantly fell in love with Beck and Carly’s story! The two of them have known each other since they were kids and would spend their summers together. As they got older more and more feelings became involved and they became each other’s firsts for a lot of things. Then one day everything changed and now they haven’t seen each other for years. Until they both happen to return to the small town where they first met.
I love Carly. I love how strong and independent she is. Even with essentially being stalked by a former patient, she wants to handle it herself, she doesn’t want to worry anyone in her family and doesn’t want additional protection. She isn’t afraid. I absolutely love Beck. He is caring, protective and swoony. Pretty much everything you could want. Their past together and how things ended was heartbreaking and I felt for them both.
There is a lot of pain and heartbreak between the two of them, but there is also a TON of chemistry. After everything that has happened and the years apart Beck and Carly are completely drawn to each other. However, there are secrets between the two of them that could cause even more pain and may be unforgivable.
I loved the light suspense this story had and it was just enough to keep you on the edge of your seat.
If you’re looking for a small town, second chance romance with a touch of suspense this is one to check out!
I have loved the three previous books in The Bayside Heroes Series and Tangled Up is a fantastic addition to the series. I was drawn in from the first chapter and there was no putting down until I had read the final line of Beck and Carly’s second chance at love. Tia Louise is one of my go to authors and as I have come to expect from this author, we got another hot, broody man to fall hard and fast for but this author comes into her own with her romantic suspense novels and for me Tangled Up is one of the best books I have read this year in that genre. Dr Beck Monroe and Carly Dennison are both successful people but there is something missing, the history they shared has haunted them both and now it seems fate has decided to push them together once again but is this the right time to find their HEA. I guess all that’s left to say is please one click this gem of a read and please look at reading this wonderful series which has something for everyone.
The night of the car pile up Beck sees his older neighbor Mr C from his hometown and he saves his life. A few weeks later he decides to go see Mr. C even though he hasn’t been back in seven years he needs a break. While he seeing Mr. C he sees Carly the girl he grew up and the love of his life but she hates him because he ghosted her. They are both here for different reasons but the intense heat and attraction are still very much alive. With both of them keeping secrets can they overcome the past and be together ? Great characters and storyline Highly recommended Amazing Book Absolutely love Beck and Carly and the supporting characters were easy to love
After finishing this book, my heart is so full. Words fail me to express how much I love Beck and Carly's story! The suspense, the waiting for the second shoe to drop, is a killer for both the romantic and the dramatic parts, although to be honest, both parts are equally dramatic, lol. The first time Beck and Carly meet again after seven years truly took my breath away because of the tension between them, the intense memories that resurfaced, the chemistry. I felt like I was breaking the surface of the water after being submerged for too long. The depth of Beck and Carly's love literally oozes from these pages, and I'm sure every woman reading this story longs for that kind of love, if she hasn't found it yet.
I think I've said it before, but it's never been truer than it is now ... in my humble opinion, this is the most profound, passionate and emotional book Ms. Louise has written to date.
