Will this wolf shifter find or lose herself in her lovers’ arms?
My future has always been mapped out - by my father, by pack - but I’m not willing to live by their rules anymore. Yet, if I don’t become a breeder, take my assigned partner, who am I?
Finding myself, when my wolf is just awakening, is harder than I thought. All I know is that I’m not ready to settle down. When three dangerously hot men show an interest - the best friend, my father’s beta, and a once-feral wolf who calls our pack home, I might be in more trouble than I imagined.
Still, this unchained wolf won’t be held back from my dreams, no matter who or what stands in the way.
~This is book one of a COMPLETE trilogy~
This is a rewrite/rework of the original Ashwood series (Sins of Wolves) with many updates and changes. ***This is a fast burn why choose featuring werewolves/wolf shifters, books 2 and 3 have triggering themes***
J.E. Cluney is a full-time author who lives on the Sunshine Coast in Australia. She spends her days writing, binging on TV shows, and reading. With a slight addiction to chocolate to fuel her midnight writing.
J.E. Cluney has many projects lined up in the reverse harem genre, and her best-selling series, 'Corviticus University' is only one of many.
The only other named Huntress, her aunt, is a lonely infertile spinster who watches school children pass by with regret etched on her face. Taylor makes sure we know her minimal dating life is sad so shes not living the carefree single lifestyle. Nor did she leave the pack to be lgbta+ without the pack's heterosexuality crushing her to death.
Everything in pack life revolves around sex. They are always fucking. They are always creating more children or worrying about creating more or in Taylor's case worrying about having them and escaping the childbearing lifestyle. And worrying that by not having children she's holding her boys back. Did you know werewolves are horny?
Everything is written like info dumping. They are either having sex, flashbacking to the sex they just canonically had, or Taylor is going on an info dumping tangent about werewolf sex. We either get explicit sex or info dumping tying the scenes to each other. I know this is common in sex books like this one. We all want to get to the next horny scene, but this feels like the author wanted to cram as much of her world building as possible into as little space as possible and its a bit jarring.
For instance, the sex book literally starts with a description of the boring average bar Taylor works at. Why? We never see it again. Did anyone pick up this book hoping to read about the typical booths and wood floors of a small town bar? Then it switches to werewolves can smell if humans are on drugs. Ok. Why? What does that matter so much as to be in the opening paragraphs of a sex book?
Blurb: Eighteen years I’ve known what I am, and the night has finally arrived where I awaken. My father has already mapped out my future for me–he’s chosen me the ideal mate and is eager for me to start carrying on our lineage and be your typical breeder. Too bad my newly awakened wolf has completely other plans. I’m not ready to settle down–I want to explore and find who I truly am. I have an inkling of what that is, but I need to be sure before I hurl myself onto a completely different path in life. With three men causing my wolf to unravel, I dig deep to discover who I am and what I want in life, and if that means enjoying the three men I’m yearning for, then so be it. This unchained wolf won’t be held back.
This book was great. Tay is a strong sassy self assured female werewolf who has a spell cast to suppress her wolf until she matures to a certain age. The spell is lifted and chaos in the form of having deep feeling for multiple partners ensues. We have Nathan the beta with good blood genes and the alpha’s second. We have Scott the wolf who came to town and won second beta position. Lastly, we have Jaye who was feral but the alpha forced him back on two legs. He’s slightly broken but with Tay’s help, he’s coming back into his own, piece by piece. This book doesn’t leave on a cliffhanger but a hook. Can’t wait for more shenanigans with this group.
This story was hot and intense, while also sweet and cute. I loved it! Taylor is different - she's going to shift for the first time at 18, putting her behind her pack mates. Once she shifts all she wants to do is explore and learn who she is but finds herself drawn to 3 specific wolves. The problem? Her pack is traditional- they don't do the multiple mates deal nor the independent she-wolf deal either. But Taylor isn't about to let that dictate what she wants and so the fun begins, as well as the fight to become who she wants. I really liked Taylor as a character and the guys are all wonderful as well. Great start to this new trilogy!
This is Awesome, fast paced and a little steamy! It’s also exciting and very entertaining and our female mc is a strong, kick ass wolf! The world building is incredible, the wolf pack rules a little dated and daddy is very old fashioned but Tay’s mates are fantastic and intriguing and each their own person which Is great and does not get boring! It’s intense, it’s sweet and I really enjoyed it!
Wow! I really like this book! The building of the characters and their world was so well done and I love that it's not that slow burn. Really looking forward for book and I really need to know how the guys are going to rescue Taylor!
J.E. Cluney Wolf Unchained (Ashwood Wolves) ARC REVIEW Tay, Jaye, Scott and Nathan This is a good start to this new series! Tay is the Alpha's daughter, and he wants her to mate with a wolf of his choosing, and carry on his line. She and her wolf have other ideas.
Alright. I gave myself a couple hours to stew on this and come up with a way to express my feelings toward this book.
Spoilers obviously.....
Let's start with our main character, never been a huge fan of a sheltered main character but I tried to put it aside because her father was why she was so sheltered. I can understand the inexperience and wanting to see what the world has to offer but I think this character was annoying about it. She also turns out to be quite impulsive and makes rash decisions without even a conversation with the men she is supposedly falling for. I don't fault her for choosing to be a huntress at all, but she does it in a childish manner while asking those around her to respect her adult decisions.
Then let's hit the romance. I'm always a fan of fast burn, I am a sucker for mates and falling quickly so that was not the issue here. My issue was that it felt we did not get build up at all on any relationship. Even the friendships were rushed and I think she talked to her brother more than she talked to any of her love interests. I also find them all spineless. Again, I read a TON of shifter romance and get the concept of alphas and obeying orders but none of them do anything to support her, and just roll with her becoming a huntress to somehow bypass her dad.
I think the book just disappointed me. The concept was there, the rh was there, we have mates and a dead mom from a genetic disease and somehow it just fell flat and felt rushed. I won't be reading on.

I started out really enjoying this book... but it kind of turned into just a smut book at about the 43% mark... which there is nothing wrong with that. I like a good smut book. But if you start out with wonderful characters and good world building and then just drop it for smut... the book suffers for it. The story suffered for it. There was really no more forward movement for the story other then just more smut.
While I was happy that Taylor was spending time with Nathan, Scott, and Jaye and learning about what she really wanted in regards to them all being together. It like everything else froze. She wanted everything to just stay as it was. No discussions with her father, or even anybody else about what she wanted or needed. It was all a big secret. And that kind of turned me off.
Even her dreams of becoming a huntress were no longer talked about. She didn't even think about it anymore until the very end of the book when she decided she would become one because then the Alpha (her dad) would no longer have a say about anything. And he wouldn't be able to kick her off the pack lands while she was training to become a huntress. It all seemed like a convenient thing to do to get her own way and not a true calling or something she really wanted to do anymore.
Not sure if I will read the next book in the series or not. For now it is on my TBR and that is where it will stay until I can make up my mind if I truly want to invest more time into this series.
Wow! Sins of Wolves was a fantastic start to the Ashwood Wolves series. We are introduced to the heroine Taylor who is the daughter of the Alpha of the pack. She is not currently living with the pack, against her father's wishes, as she wants to train to be a warrior like her Aunt. However, as a powerful female wolf, she is targeted by the alpha of a rival pack who wants her for his own. Not to roll over, Taylor will do everything she can to not have to marry Richard. Even if she has to fight for her own freedom! She won't be alone though. She'll need the help of her father's three betas, who also happen to be very much in love with Tay, to keep her independence. You won't want to put Sins of Wolves down! The character development is fantastic. Readers will primarily see the story through Taylor's eyes, but we get to see some other perspectives through the three betas that are just as wild and sexy! I am so excited to continue this series with book 2!
This book was brilliant, it really pulls you straight in to this awesome supernatural world. The characters and described and portrayed amazingly, it really puts you right there in the story with them going through the same story right along with them! The world building and the narrative and creative and unique and totally new to me which makes it even more awesome! The relationship between MC and her guys is passionate, enthralling and hot with a capital ‘H’! I’d really recommend reading this book you won’t be disappointed! That cliffhanger though!! Can’t wait for the next one!
I liked the other books from this author, but this one, while better edited, was nothing but pure teen girl sex-fantasy with no real plot. It was good as that, but as a novel, it had very little tension or conflict, and the male leads are clearly written from the mind of a woman. I am going to try the next in the series in the hope an actual plot develops. If you just enjoy reading group sex scenes, this is a hot novel. If you are looking for plot, you won’t find it here.
This is a fantastic read with wonderful characters. The world building is remarkable as the world is realistic yet has the edge of fantasy. There is a fantastic flow to the story and plotline. The multiple POVs allowed for the story to be told from all sides for the past and present, allowing for a well rounded/ complete story, and was done seamlessly. I received an advanced copy and am voluntarily leaving an unbiased, honest review.
***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*** This was a great first book to a new series! The world building, and characters were great. There were a few steamy scenes between Taylor and her three men. I hope to read more about the men and their background. We learn a lot about Taylor, but not enough about her men. Looking forward to book 2 and seeing how her men end up rescuing her from Richard.
Taylor is not only a loner, a bartender & a wolf but shes also the Alphas daughter. A fact that shes not that happy about. Coming home is not part of her plan until her dads 3 betas (and Ex's) turn up to take her back. Thats when the fun & games start. She has to deal with a sly Alpha that wants her & 3 Betas that love her. Plenty of sexy times in this Reverse Harem book & a strong main character make for a fab book. Great cliffhanger that will keep you keen to read the next book
I loved this book. This book took me away to another world and did not bring me back to reality until I finished the last page. It moves along at a really great pace, making for an enjoyable read. The characters are so real, that you feel as though you know them and no matter what you want to be with them helping them overcome whatever may get in their way. The story will grab you and keep you reading till the very last page. This is a must read, no doubt about it.
This is a RH book. J.E. did a fantastic job on character and environment development. The FMC is an independent badass that doesn't take shit from anyone! The other MC are 3 very handsome men. The storyline has some twists and is a great tead. This book ends in a cliffhanger. Looking forward to book 2! I recommend this book!
*** I have Kindle , and use that service to read this book. ***
This book was so amazing and sexy. Drama And pantie twisting goodness. I love how the author did this book. We got to know each of her guys one on one as well as together. The story that’s woven drags you in and keeps you gripped through the whole story. This is a must read and a great start on this series. Can’t wait for more.
An alpha daughter who wants to have her own identity and life plan is summoned home by her dad. She reunites with her 3 boyfriends and finds out the alpha of another pack wants her as his own. Can she find a way out of this? I highly recommend this book. The characters are great and well developed and the plot is fast moving.
This was an awesome beginning to the Ashwood Wolves series! Tay is a strong, kicka$$ FMC and the dynamic between her and her guys is swoon worthy! The storyline holds a lot of backstory and getting to know the characters with action to boot. The scenes between Tay and her guys are hot hot hot! Needless to say I am looking forward to reading further into this series!
There was a time in my life I was wishing I could get the men I wanted to be with to be willing to share me rather than having to sneak around to be with each one separately. I was not able to get them open to it they were all strong and leader types so having to share me was not a option for them to the point I went looking for more.
An wolf alphas daughter with pure blood, wanted by a shadey alpha of another pack. She's training to be a Huntress and has 3 beta lovers in her father's pack. She manipulated and takes her father's place to fight the alpha in human form.
The premise of the book is brilliant but there is a little too much smut compared to plot in this one for me. I really want to see where Taylor’s story goes though so I will definitely be reading the next one.
I picked this book up free on Amazon it has a spicy why choose plot about wolf shifters I enjoyed this one it was fast paced and I really liked all the main characters especially the main female I have already picked up the next book in this series as I am interested to see what will happen next
I really liked this book! It was sexy and exciting and the men top notch! But man does that ending got me messed up! Don’t leave hanging like that my heart can’t take it!!!
Absolutely love Taylor and how she handles herself and never lets anyone get in her way. The guys are great and I love the storyline. Love the way it ended and cant wait for book 2!
