USA Today bestselling author Suzanna Medeiros was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. Her love of reading led her to pursue a degree in English Literature from the University of Toronto. After working at a number of interesting places, including a federal inquiry, a youth probation office, and the Office of the Fire Marshal of Ontario, she decided to pursue her first love—writing.
Suzanna is married to her own hero and survived raising twins. When she isn't writing, she loves reading and playing video games.
She would like to thank her parents for showing her that love at first sight and happily ever after really do exist.
I received an advance ebook copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for review.
A Viscount for Christmas by Suzanna Medeiros is the first book of the Christmas Scandals. Isaac Thornton has returned home for Christmas. After his late arrival, the butler tries to inform him of something, but he ignores him and heads to his bedroom. Little did Isaac know that he wouldn’t be alone in his bedroom. Celia Rowland was sent to this bedroom by the dowager viscountess because of a problem with her room. She is startled to awake to the undressed viscount beside her in bed. Things quickly spiral out of control and Isaac offers to marry Celia in order to save her from scandal. Celia despises that Isaac has been forced into this engagement, and she plans to eventually end it. She believes her childhood crush on him is over. Soon she realizes that is far from the truth. But she doesn’t believe he could possibly feel the same way.
It was very fun reading this novella. I liked how quick and sweet it was. I will definitely read the rest of the series!
When the Viscount comes home for Christmas he goes straight to his room. He takes his clothes off and gets into bed. But wait, there is a woman sleeping in his bed! This was a quick read and it was very enjoyable too. Looking to read books 2 and 3 as well. 4☆
I picked up my first book by Suzanna Medeiros in 2014 and not again until 2020. This is my 12th book by her. I have really liked her books. They are well written and good stories.
I hate the really quick reads but she is such a good author... I really liked the characters, Isaac and Celia. I liked the story.
I received a copy of this from Booksprout and this is my freely given opinion.
This was a sweet little novella about Isaac Thornton, a young viscount returning home for Christmas, to participate in his mother's annual Christmas house party. He arrives late, and tired to his family home, and ignores his butler's attempts to inform him of something important, as he just wants to fall into bed and go to sleep. He goes to his room, strips down, and falls into bed, realizing too late that he is not alone in said bed.
Celia Rowland was sent to sleep in Isaac's room by his mother as there was a problem with her room, and he was not expected home that night. Imagine her surprise when she is awoken by a half naked Isaac in bed beside her... so she screams. This brings around her mother and other guests, and lo and behold, the unsuspecting young pair are caught in a compromising position. Isaac attempts to save their reputation by announcing their engagement.
As we read on, we find out that Isaac and Celia have known each other over the years as Celia was often at the house, as a visiting friend of his sisters. She had a youthful infatuation with the older brother of her friends, but he never thought of her as anything but the young friend of his sisters. Isaac and Celia are each suspicious that perhaps the situation was a set up to force them into a marriage. Celia is aghast and does not want to force Isaac to marry her, even willing to break things off and live with a tarnished reputation to save him from being forced to marry her. She cares for him too much to force him into such a situation. Isaac, as he gets to know her again, comes to realize that Celia may just be the partner for him.
For a short little novella spanning just a couple of days, this packed in a lot. The couple being caught and betrothed, the suspicion of conspiracy, manipulation, and intrigue. It was a short, but nicely written little love story that I enjoyed very much, though if I were Isaac and Celia, I would not be very trusting of her mother any time soon. Another fast, fun Christmas in July read.
This moved extremely fast and there was absolutely no flow from one chapter to the next.
This is basically a best friends brother type situation but it’s all over the place. They know virtually nothing about each other and then they’re confessing their love to one another even though theres no build up or flashback scenes to when they were younger.
The writing wasn’t bad, i do think the structure of the novella didn’t help so maybe longer form would have worked here and gave the story padding.
It just felt very superficial. I wasn’t convinced. The minute they’re “compromised” he’s proposing and it just felt too much too soon. I’ve read novellas that were able to pull this situation off well but this isn’t one of them unfortunately
This is a sweet love story between Celia and Isaac who are forced into a betrothment. Celia wants no part in trapping Isaac so they work together trying to get out of it. They never thought they would actually fall in love along the way. It's well written, moves quickly and smoothly and is a cute read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Medeiros brings heartwarming with a dash of spice. Isaac and Celia turn heartache into temptation. From misunderstandings to risque emotions, A Viscount for Christmas turns sugar and spice into the sweetest delight.
“When his gaze reached her, a smile spread across his face. Her heart began to race when he lifted his glass of wine in her direction. “I am very happy to announce that Miss Celia Rowland has consented to be my wife and will be the next Viscountess Thornton.”
❄️ Viscount Isaac Thornton - having grudgingly decided last minute to attend his mother’s annual Christmas house party, he arrived a little past midnight, cold and exhausted and just wanted to find his bedchamber and go to sleep. Only he wasn’t unaware that his room had been assigned to one of the house guests and he unintentionally compromised her as he tiredly climbed into his warm bed.
❄️ Celia Rowland - Isaac’s younger sisters’ best friend, had the hugest crush on Isaac as a young girl, which everyone knew about, except Isaac.
“She’d thought herself past the youthful infatuation she’d once had for this man, but now she knew that wasn’t true.”
❄️ A quick 100 pg. Christmas novella filled with house party activities and a sweet burgeoning romance that had me smiling often. Both MMC and FMC were gentle, caring and extremely likable characters that made it easy for me to root for them and held my attention. The pacing of the story was perfect for a novella and did not leave me with an insta-love feeling. The main conflict was whether to quietly break the engagement as agreed upon or let it stand 💘.
❄️ The steam came in towards to end. It was a descriptive scene but by no means raunchy. No sexual innuendos thru out the story. It was a sweet, classy romance. I’ve not read this author before, but I’ll definitely read more of her books.
“I’d like to perform a little experiment,” he said.” ……😘😘😘….. “he leaned in close and whispered, “I’d say that experiment was a success.”
Celia Rowland is excited to attend the annual Christmas house party given by the mother of her best friends since childhood. Although her friends won't be attending, their brother, Isaac Thornton, will.
When the party leads to a compromising situation with Isaac-her childhood crush-Celia finds herself in a predicament that leaves her feeling happiness at what the future could hold, and dread that Isaac might feel trapped.
Isaac, on the other hand, is noticing that Celia is now a grown woman and the attraction and affection are almost instantaneous.
What ensues is a story that moves along nicely and at a quick pace. The characters are kind, thoughtful, and easy to like.
This was an entertaining and angst-free story that can be read in one sitting. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series. The next book is a marriage of convenience and it looks like it has a bit more drama and shenanigans and I look forward to checking it out!

Cute. Short. Perhaps a little silly and also a little sweet. Heroine's mother stretched credulity, but that's not surprising for the genre. I've been in a long stretch of sweet/clean romances, so the sex scene took me a bit by surprise, and to my thinking wasn't really necessary for the plot or super in character for either main character given the time period and their stations in life, but I know there are readers who don't like/won't read books without sex scenes in them, so I figure that's why it was there. Also, it's difficult in novellas to cram everything in and have it feel unrushed and natural. This one felt a little worse than usual because first they're going to get married right away, before New Year's, then they're not going to marry at all, then they're going to marry by spring to spare themselves gossip and maintain reputations, then they give in to passion, and so then they're marrying in a month.
I did feel the interest, caring, chemistry between the two main characters, so that was nice.

This may be a case where an accidental situation may turn into the best Christmas gift this couple could ever have wished for.
Celia Rowland growing up had feelings for Isaac Thornton. She was his younger sister’s best friend. But that was many years ago, she was too young for him, and she got over it. But at a house party, there is an innocent misunderstanding when Viscount Isaac Thornton unexpectedly returns home early to attend his mother's annual Christmas gathering. Tired, he goes into his room, undresses, climbs into bed, then is shocked to find a beautiful woman also sleeping in his bed! Celia would never try to trap him into marriage. But he is caught in the compromising situation with Celia, and to save her reputation, declares they are betrothed. Will the two of them find a HEA within this awkward situation? Will they be able to find love for each other regardless of the way it came about?
A Viscount for Christmas by Suzanna Medeiros is the first book in the Christmas Scandals Series. Suzanna Medeiros writes wonderful historical romances that make for a great holiday read. The story includes tropes about compromising situations and crushing on an older brother.
Viscount Isaac Thornton felt forced home by his mother for her annual Christmas Party. He couldn’t wait to crash for the night, and didn’t stop to check in with his mother or the butler. Bad Choice!
Celia Rowland is the best friend of Thornton’s sisters. She was invited to the party and was happy to attend. Unfortunately her mother had other motives, to force Celia into marriage. Thornton’s mother tried to help out Celia, but her son’s lack of checking in with his mother caused an impossible situation.
What is a Lord and Lady to do? A Viscount for Christmas by Suzanna Medeiros is a quick, happily-ever-after holiday read. Enjoy!
Summoned by his mother to attend the annual Christmas party, Isaac had informed his mother, of his date of arrival, he was not due until the next day. Isaac arrives unexpectedly early and goes to his room only to find it occupied. Celia's mother catches them and suddenly Celia is engaged!
This is such a wonderful story of an unrequited love turning into a dream come true. Celia always liked Isaac and his good looks, kindness and his kisses have her falling in love with him. Celia was his sister's friend and was much too young so he didn't think of her in a romantic sense. Told from dual POVs reveals intimately their thoughts, feelings and emotions as they explore their relationship. There's an epilogue and a HEA 💓

One house party and two people trying to escape a forced wedding who just might get the Christmas gift they didn’t know they want.
Celia Rowland outgrew the infatuation she had for Thornton years ago. When a misunderstanding means she’s been compromised, her mother insists they get married.
Celia ended up in Thonton bed during house party. Knowing their fates were sealed. They had to find a way to find love and happiness.
Delightful! When Isaac and Celia found themselves in a compromising position, a betrothal was declared. Celia had adored Isaac for years, as he was the older brother of two of her dear friends. However, she was unwilling to trap him in a marriage he did not want. As they spent more time together, he wasn’t so sure he wanted out. This is a sweet story set at a Christmas house party that includes Celia’s conniving mother and an odiuos baron. There is just enough conflict to keep you on edge, but watching the relationship develop between Isaac and Celia is endearing and entertaining.

This was a very quick read with not much depth to the characters or their relationship. The author could get away with that a little because they had known each other previously, but still felt they should have spent more time together than one kiss for Thornton to realize he loved her. There was a sex scene near the end that just felt like it was added to give readers a little something extra but didn't feel necessary to me (I think more interactions earlier might have helped this scene not feel so out of place). The epilogue was kind of a waste -merely a set up for the next book.
But if you want a quick, mostly sweet Christmas story this is good.
Celia has known and loved Isaac from afar for years. She is friends with his younger sisters. While attending a house party, they are discovered in a compromising position and, of course, betrothed. Celia has no desire to trap Isaac into marriage, so they need a plan. However, as they spend time together, they find that they might not want a way out. This is a delightful holiday story with a sweet happy ending. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A surprise gift at Christmas. Celia and Isaac story was a lovely bit of fiction and I loved the story. They have known each for some time as Celia was friends with his sisters. When Celia mother pull a horrible scene Celia and Isaac are faced with a problem they need to deal with. I loved it when they realized how they felt for each other it was great writing. I also like the lead into the next story about Lord Seaford and Lily cannot wait to read that little gem. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.
A Viscount for Christmas is a charming Regency holiday story and a good read anytime of the year. Celia Rowland has found herself in a rather compromising position while attending a holiday gathering which leads to some very complicated misunderstandings and a story that produces a well written heartfelt narrative that is engaging in all the feel-good ways.

When Isaac Thornton comes home for Christmas Late in the evening He immediately crawls into bed only to find Lady Cecilia Rolland sleeping. When Cecilia Mother comes barging in She demands that lord Thornton marry Cecilia Isaac and Cecilia have known each other since childhood Asia had played with Isaac's sisters Any brief few days they realize they are in love And a true true wedding match is made
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel from the first page until the very last.
It was a short novella; but at the same time, it was an extremely satisfying read. It has been a very rare occurrence that I could just pick up a book and read it within an hour or so; but, I must admit that I was captivated by these characters and their amazing love story instantaneously.
Well yes I'm a sucker for historical romance and it'll always be great to be swept away in times of old when things were very different. The viscount doesn't listen to his butler and thus signing his own fate unbeknownst to him. Now he must rescue the reputation of a lady. However she isn't a fan of it and thinks her crush on the viscount is over. Or is it?
This is a sweet story with no angst and a nice read for the holiday season. It is the old “accidentally caught” trope but very innocent. As Thornton and Celia start their “betrothal” they find that they are suited (Celia has been in love with Thornton for years). Cute. I read this as part of an anthology.
Loved this story when I first read it in the Christmas Kisses anthology. Issac and Celia's story was so much better on a second read. I can't wait to read the next story in the Christmas Scandals series.
