Sometimes you just want to cast your former life aside… Like and old shoe. After her old job went up in flames, pizzeria manager and amateur sleuth, Cassandra McNeil, never expected to be involved in the shoe selling business again, but her old life collides with her new one when a local hotel hosts a shoe store convention and some of her old coworkers come to town.
With a handful of familiar faces to contend with – some that she parted on good terms with, and some not so much – she’s expecting it to be a busy week. She doesn’t expect it to be a deadly one.
When one of the pizzeria’s regulars is found dead just outside the hotel that is hosting the convention, Cassandra can’t stay away. She has to know what happened and why.
Is her past coming back to haunt her, or is the man’s killer someone from closer to home?
When Cozy Mystery author, Patti Benning, isn’t busy plotting the deaths of multiple fictitious characters, she loves to spend time hiking with her rescue dog, Max, who is her bestest writing buddy.
Patti loves to cook and the food in her books has been tried and tested in her very own kitchen. She’s technologically shy, and stays away from social media a great deal, because it makes her feel more awkward and introverted than meeting someone face to face.
Writing is the perfect job for her because in her books, she gets to explore all the topics she loves, food, animals, crafts and reading. She loves her readers dearly, and is thankful for the opportunity to share with them through her work.
Another will written Miami murder mystery family and friends relationships adventure thriller short story by Patti Benning (Miami Slice Cozy Mystery book 4). Cassie's sister is moving out too another apartment with a friend. There is an convention in town and Cassie has done advertisement with the convention to increase business. People from her old job are attending the conference and come to the pizzeria 🍕. Murder follows and Cassie ends up in the middle of it. I would recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of mystery novels 👍🔰. Enjoy the adventure of reading or listening to all kinds of books 📚. 2022 👒😤
Patti Bennington is an amazing writer. She is able to start every series strong and never falters. This book is no exception! Her characters are multifaceted and this book is well written, keeps you guessing, and easily read in one sitting because you just can’t put it down.
What should've been a halfway pleasant reunion with some former coworkers turned deadly. The whodunit wasn't really hard to guess this time, but it was fun to see how Cassie sleuthed it out with Antonio. I just love those two together, they're so darn cute! At one point I was yelling at Cassie in my mind not to go somewhere, but she went anyway, and the rest is history since it did cause the perp to get caught.
It'll be interesting to see how it goes now that Bridget moved out of Cassie's apartment since she's actually earning money and doing okay again. I could tell the sisters were missing each other, but at least Cassie might have a little more privacy if a certain cute security guard wants to come watch TV! Looking forward to borrowing the next on KU!
Cassie has the idea to further grow the pizzeria business by partnering with a shoe store convention in town and have them give out discount coupons. Before the pizzeria Cassie had managed a shoe store so she new some of the attendees. The first day goes well and she sees some of her old friends. Then someone is murdered at the convention hotel. The intrigue deepens and Cassie is threatened. Lots of twists and turns with a surprise ending. A fun addition to the series.
Cassandra’s past life collides with her new life as the world of shoe and pizza come together. She finds herself seeing old faces when the local hotel throws a shoe convention.
Things hit close when a regular pizza customer is found dead out the hotel. Is there a connection or just coincidence as Cassandra curiosity will get her involved?
Old friends come to town for a convention bringing trouble with them. Cassie finds herself in the middle of it all. Very enjoyable story. I look forward to more in the series.
