Skincare expert Melanie Grant knows that healthy skin doesn't need make-up; it glows on its own. She also believes that the most beautiful people are those who embrace ageing and feel confident in their own skin, whether they're in their twenties or sixties.
With practical, elegant advice for every age, skin type and concern, The Modern Guide to Skin Health reveals how to achieve a glowing complexion using effective everyday products and simple, tailored routines. Cutting through industry hype and insider jargon, Melanie educates us to make the best choices for our own skin, from understanding ingredients lists and professional treatments, to eating the right food to support skin from within.
This is the new beauty bible for women of all ages, who want to look and feel radiant in their own skin.
This is a specially formatted fixed-layout ebook that retains the look and feel of the print book.
Such a great book! Beautiful pages and imagery first of all, but the content is so informative! I am someone with a keen interest and pretty basic understanding of skincare, so it was so helpful reading through this book and being able to ditch all the marketing BS out there to really understand the ingredients, products and treatments I need for my skin type.
The book details a number of skin concerns and I like that you can flick through to the parts relevant to you. I especially loved the skincare by age part - teens, 20s, 30s all the way up to the 60s and beyond! It’s literally the skincare bible I will carry with me through life to refer back to.
What I also loved about this book is that no product is shoved down your throat, nothing tells you to go out and spend a fortune (though it is obvious those that can will ultimately get the best results - no surprises there), there is a primary focus on ingredients and how to read them, so you can do your own research to find products best suited to what you can afford.
Feeling super inspired after that! Would highly recommend to everyone.
I liked this book by Melanie Grant, reading of sound and reasonable skincare advice was refreshing. Melanie doesn’t push certain brands or products down your throat, she simply gives helpful skincare advice without all the jargon. Overall, I recommend this book to anyone who wants to look after their skin and read about some helpful healthy living tips along the way!
Quite a useful refresher on what ingredients and routines are applicable for different skin types, concerns and ages. I like Grant's approach to skincare (less is more) and took quite a few notes for me to review and consult from over time. Small gripe for me was that there were lots of pictures of her (we get that she has beautiful skin!) which didn't add much - I would have liked to see diverse skin types pictured and perhaps a few testimonials or pictures of her clients. There was also this small section in the middle of the book which had a couple outdated-looking racial/geographical quizzes and classifications, which I guess was meant to indicate different groups of people had different levels of melanin and thus different approaches to sun and skincare. I thought it was quite unnecessary in this day and age but also that it could have been expressed in a different way. Don't let that put you off reading this book though, there's still something for you if you are interested in skincare!
Great overview of how consistent skincare habits and modern dermatology can support healthier skin overall. Skin health conversations should also include awareness of conditions like vitiligo, where pigment-producing cells are lost and white patches can appear on different parts of the body due to autoimmune processes. Anyone interested in learning more about causes, symptoms, and management options can click here for vitiligo info, since understanding less-discussed conditions is an important part of a complete guide to maintaining healthy skin.
For all the girlies that want to understand skincare better - this is the best skin guide ever!!! And it’s so aesthetically pleasing , can always go back and forth and refer back to certain pages depending on what it is that I want to quickly look up. I just discovered the author Melanie and been following her for a while, probably my favourite beauty experts out there
Very comprehensive and enjoyable to read. I lost interest at times because I felt it was repetitive, but overall each topic is explained and advice is given in a concise manner. Bonus points for the images.
Loved this book. I feel like I have clear direction on what products and ingredients I should use for my skin type and age and appreciate her “less is more” approach to skincare.
Simple to read yet big on information. Modern, up to date. Enjoy the author’s positive thoughts on ageing. And her aversion to pushy sales advice. Gives me power in my choices.
