1/5 ⭐

The Forever Promise by Leigh James is book Two in The Forever Series. This continues the story of Bryce and Chloe. The previous book 'The Forever Contract' should be read before starting this book. The last book left us with Chloe and Bryce going their separate ways but this book has Bryce needing Chloe back due to his father. Can't wait for the next installment in this series.

Chloe and Bryces duet is complete and they definitely have come full circle. So much blackmail, lies, deceit and scandals surrounded them and they didn’t want there relationship to turn real but they couldn’t help that it did

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Forever Promise was the second of three books in this Billionaire romance series. It does need to be read in order since the first book ends with a cliffhanger. Slight spoilers from book 1 will be in this review.

I'm such a sucker for the arranged marriage, and billionaire tropes and this series has both, in all it’s sexy glory!

In this book, we follow Bryce and Chloe's story in the aftermath of her being "fired" from Bryce's services. I found myself wondering how she would find her way back to the island and how she would react to seeing Bryce again after he essentially broke her heart. Without getting into spoiler territory, the patriarch of the Windsor family finds himself in some legal issues and the family must come together to present a united front, including Chloe. While we see less of Noah in this book, we see more of Daphne, who I surprisingly enjoyed a lot more than I expected and we get to meet Bryce’s brothers, who were fun new additions!

My only plot gripe would be that Chloe is the worst communicator. Girl needs to share her feelings, and show that she outwardly has a backbone.

I really enjoyed the pacing of this book, there was always some kind of action going on, if not it built up quickly. I had mentioned in my review of the first book that I wished the book was written in dual POV, but I now understand the choice of single POV now. Chloe's POV is that of a young, very impressionable woman and we get all that doubt and insecurity going through her mind and it definitely keeps the reader in the dark as well. I feel like Bryce’s POV would be too telling. So mo books, mo mysteries, and I'm here for it!

Now, the spice. The spice in this series has been *chef's kiss*. The chemistry between Bryce and Chloe is palpable, very much like the first book and again, I'm here for it! I made a note at one point near the beginning of the book that said "wow, she keeps saying that he's handsome", like drinking game, a lot.

I can't wait for the finale of Bryce and Chloe's story! I'm so invested that I need it and need it ASAP!

Final rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🌶🌶🌶

Full review to come.

I just finished reading this - this is the second book. I thought this was a duet, but it's a trilogy.

I enjoyed the book, but not as much as the first book. I wish there were more scenes with the H and h that were not sex scenes. I wanted them to get to know each other.

This ends in a cliffhanger. I don’t know when the last book comes out.

This book picks up 2 weeks later from the last book. H "fired" h from being his hired bride, but they are still married, but living separately. Both Celibate during separation.

H's father is accused of insider trading, so H makes new proposal to h to come back and show united front as a family. h is heartbroken by him but agrees for money so she can support her younger brother.

PR is hired to make the H's family and h look good to the public, but the PR strategies like working with paparazzi and creating fake drama causes angst between H and h. (Side note: the goal of the PR was to make them look good in front of the public, but the strategies were questionable even the H and h had doubts and the PR strategist's explanation didn't make sense.)

Also, H's asshole father does not like the h because of her poor background and continues to try to them apart.

This book had good angst, but I was frustrated with both the H and h:

H because we don't get his pov. I understand why the author did not include it, but it was hard to understand H's feeling because he would act loving then stand offish and cold. I didn't like that, although he hated it, he was okay with using the h for a PR stunt that suggested a love triangle with ex.

h because she had the body betrayal syndrome and I wish she communicated her issues with the H, like how her pos dad and stepmother was extorting her for money by threatening to go to the reporters and taking back custody for her brother. What was the point of her agreeing to this new agreement if she was gradually losing money by agreeing to the extortion. I am so disappointed in her lawyer, Akira Zhang. She gave h a lot of advice in the last book, but in this one, she didn't give her any advice on how to handle to extortion.

On the cheating warning in the blurb, the cheating is not between H and h, it is with H's young stepmother.

I was surprised to like Daphne, the shallow, cheating and gold digging stepmother to the H. She was entertaining and she was somewhat friendly to the h. Not a true friend, but at least she doesn't hide who she is.

Are we supposed to like or grow to like the loyal maid, Hazel, because since book 1 she has been a total judgmental, condescending bitch to the h? I prefer Daphne over her.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

This story is the second book which picks back up after the first book, and as such, I'm going to do my very best at not giving away detail since it could be spoilers for the first book. Bryce's father has been a very bad boy, and Chloe has come back face to face with Bryce because of it, and the fact that she would do anything for her brother, and that's all I'll say about that. The roller coaster ride of angst did my heart in while devouring this story, as not everyone was happy about her being back so the drama & betrayal was insane & I found myself calling many people ugly names out loud throughout LOL! All of the chaos made it impossible for me to set this book down to even eat until it was finished or should I say, until Leigh James kicked me off a higher cliff with the ending. I'm dying inside for more, and I believe everyone will feel the same after hitting those one click buttons! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Leigh James has done it again!

The Forever Promise is the second book in the Forever Series and just like the first book I could.not.get.enough.

The story picks up two weeks after Chloe left the mansion. She is summoned back due to some family scandal with Gene. Once Chloe returns, it's like she and Bryce were never apart. Their chemistry is unwavering. I wish their communication was like their sex drive... open and willingly.

Chloe is still young and naive and has everyone's interest at heart. She needs to learn that she needs to look out for herself first and foremost. Bryce has gotten better in this book. He is opening up more, but more times than not he communicates after the fact. He has definitely opened up about his feelings, which is...swooon.

The one thing I don't like about this series is the cliffhanger!!! I can't wait for the next book to come out to know what happens! Ugh!

However, I really enjoyed this book.

There’s a cliffhanger ! This one was good. I can’t wait to read the next one. Chloe just wants a better life for her and her brother. And Bryce needs a wife. I’m the first one Bryce and Chloe get married but now that they’re married they face issues not normal couples face. Thank you for this Arc ! I was excited when I received it in my kindle :)

I wanted to throw the tablet away when I got to the end of the book, not because the book was bad but because it wasn't fair that it ended so quickly and left me with all those emotions. Thanks to Grey's Promotion for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
In the first book Bryce decides to end what he had with Chloe but in this second book, he needs Chloe to keep up appearances, however the feelings that were denied are more alive than ever and wanting to establish a limit but at the same time being tempted to taking back what they had is going to be a struggle that the protagonists are going to face throughout the book.
What I liked about the book is the relationship that Bryce has with Chloe's brother, that way of showing that he cared for him and that he cares about his well-being. I also liked the development of the story, it has a good rhythm and you don't feel like you're reading because the book goes by very quickly, the author knows how to hook you with the plot and you grow fond of all the characters. The racy scenes are second to none and you really feel the chemistry between the leads.
What I didn't like... IS THAT WE HAVE TO WAIT TO READ THE THIRD BOOK hahaha I think I grew very fond of the story and I just want to know what happens, I want Bryce and Chloe to have their happy ending. Seriously, the only thing I didn't like was that at times I felt there were filler scenes that didn't help develop the plot, they were entertaining, but I think they were somewhat unnecessary.

This is the sequel to The Forever Contract, which I LOVED. This one does much of the same, insane jealousy, stupid rich people situations, and a brother that is used for motivation but seen very little, if not even less than before.

The book would just not have happened if the two spoke to each other. But they don't. They just lie or keep things from one another that would cause issues between them.

In fairness, our heroine is a bigger moron in this one than the previous one and that infuriated me and is the major knock on the story this time around.

The second book in Leigh James’ Forever series with The Forever Promise picking up the story a few weeks after the end of the previous book. I love the whole arranged marriage/age gap tropes so was really looking forward to this series but I’m feeling let down by the characters. While there is plenty of chemistry between the hero and heroine I didn’t feel any real connection and just didn’t like them as people and this made me struggle to care what happens to them. A part of me wanted the author to lock them in a room together to force some kind of emotion and have them actually talk to each other, maybe that would’ve spiked my interest but on the other hand it would’ve probably only ended one way especially if there was a bed in the room. I also felt that this book was overly long and perhaps could’ve been abbreviated. As it is, it end on another cliff hanger. Is this going to be a trilogy?

I must be missing something that all of you are seeing. I do not understand why this series is rated so high.

I’ll summarize this for you: She is practically a child, he is a grown up with insane issues (not even sexy morally gray, just actually needs some intense therapy). She is in love with him but doesn’t want to be. They have sex (I don’t think you could go 10 pages in this book without reading how “wet” she is or how big his co*k is). He stops talking to her and she swears she won’t have sex with him again, but guess what, a few pages later she’s doing it again.

I put up with it in the first book thinking the plot would get better but it’s just the same over and over again. I hate both of these characters so so so much.

Pathetic lead female!

How sad that you have to make the female lead character so pathetic and without a backbone. It is almost offensive on how pathetic you make her seem In spineless. She's easily manipulated by everyone around her and continues to fall for the same tricks over and over again. She allows her husband to emotionally and mentally abuse her and yet she is still in love with him?! I read this second book because I was hoping That maybe she would actually get a backbone and stand up for herself but obviously that does not happen. There's no point in even reading the 3rd book.

Nothing really works with this story. All the drama is contrived and makes the characters purposefully obtuse. Bryce was so unlikeable for most of the book, taking from Chloe constantly. And Chloe continues to be so damn young in her actions. I’m sure she’s meant to come across as kind and giving, but she reads as more bland and timid. The number of times a joke about her age was thrown in this book really annoyed me too. The irony is that this story would’ve benefited from making her a few years older. Instead we get jailbait jokes and a heroine who’s a doormat for an absolutely bland hero.

Thank you to Greys and Leigh for sending me a copy of this book to read and review.

Before i start about this book. OMG that ending i was literally screaming at the book wanting to know more. I was practically frothing at the mouth.

This book is soo wonderful . I was gripped from the first page, constantly wanting to know more about what was going to happen. Every single event keeps you hooked and the characters are incredible. the scenes between them were soo hot. they were literally made for each other in and out of the bedroom.

This book gives off great character development. seeing them grow and reading the story unfold was just amazing. I loved every single second. I literally could not put this down.

We first meet Chloe at her apartment in Boston, where she is staying looking after her brother. This is set after her Husband fired her. Yes you read right! (read to find out) Chloe is one heck of a strong badass. She had a tough life growing up. her father was pretty much an asshole and her step mother was the epitome of wicked step mother. Her husband paid them off with 1 million dollars in order for Chloe to raise her young brother. but will that be enough?

Bryce is a billionaire the son of a wealthy businessman. But Bryce has earnt his place in the company always putting business first even before his hired wife. When his fathers greed is too much and the authorities get involved Bryce hires the bets lawyers and PR Team which means he needs his wife back at his side. Having his wife back with a contract in hand and stipulations on what can and cant be done is the only way Bryce can protect himself.

This story goes from a contract the real feelings being entwined. They Love each other but just don't know how to tell each other and put the past behind them. Every single twist and turn life throws at them brings them closer together.
Love conquers all and they will do anything to protect the people they love.

I swear this book was amazing and definitely worth the read go grab your copy today!

Leigh James thank you soo much i can not wait to read more.

¿Amamos a Midge? Amamos 🙌🏼.

The Forever Promise is book two in the Forever series by author Leigh James. It had me hooked, and I think I read it in one day.

Chloe Burke is a paid employee of Bryce Windsor. He’s paying her to be his wife, and they are legally and truly married and in love. While each one has said the words, they are each too scared to fully commit. Bryce needs Chloe on his arm now because his father has been accused of insider trading, and Bryce needs to present a good image as head of the family company. With paparazzi everywhere, it’s important to look happy. Threats to Chloe and Bryce’s marriage are everywhere. Chloe’s dad and stepmom are blackmailing for money. Bryce’s ex-girlfriend Felicia is in the picture and wants him back. Worst of all, Bryce’s father thinks Chloe is trash and not good enough and will stop at nothing to get rid of her.

What I love about this series so far is that James has written some excellent characters. They are interesting and human and often funny. I love the narrative which is fast-paced, and the world building which which does a great job of showing the lifestyle of a billionaire. What I do not like is that the writing is very repetitive, especially during the sex scenes. It’s a pet peeve of mine when an author overuses specific words and phrases. However, I am eagerly awaiting the conclusion to this series.

You definitely have to read the first book in this series, The Forever Contract, to know what’s going on, but they are quick and fun reads. Let me know what you think - I’d love to discuss.

If Chloe had an ounce of sense, this book would be 10x better. But no, she continues to be completely stupid and has 0 backbone. It's honestly sad, given how deranged Bryce is. This girl needs help, but no one is helping her out.

The dialogue continues to be so incredibly cringey. Also there are random errors in the writing, like calling people by the wrong name that sort of thing. Bryce continues to be an absolute psychopath. It's interesting because sometimes Chloe will have reasonable thoughts, but then she does the exact opposite thing. Like Chloe thought Bryce's updated contract was crazy (it was unhinged and scary) yet she decided to sign it without making any changes/pushing back. Even her idiot lawyer tried to help Chloe and she wouldn't take her advice...

I'm confused by the way Noah (Chloe's little brother) is written. He's the entire reason she's doing this - to protect him from their deadbeat dad and step-mother. Yet, Noah is the brattiest kid in the world. Literally every single word that comes out of his mouth/interaction with Chloe is terrible. He's entitled and so rude. Also, Chloe apparently cares for him? Yet she's letting Bryce's random assistant Dale basically become Noah's parent?

Everything about this book is unhinged and pretty awful, but I can't stop reading.

Ugh, I could not finish this book. Once I got 2/3 of the way through, I just went to last chapter and finished it. After reading the first book, I thought maybe the FMC would go into this second chance with a little more sense and grow a backbone. I was mistaken. She loves, she doesn't want to love him, she tells herself to keep in mind he hurt her feelings. Typical teenage self-talk drama. AND NO BACKBONE. She is so easily manipulated. And as a typical teenager, she thinks when her husband is stressed, sex will solve all. How about talking? Seriously. Her father-in-law is a total scumbag. Her husband goes from being a man in control to being a puppet back to being a man with a purpose. She just jumps when she is told to. Her decision-making is horrible. She has people giving her guidance of how she should navigate things, but she never understands anything. You basically have to draw her a map at this point. Her husband asks her what she feels, thinks, wants. And like a dumb teenager, she lies to him to make his life easier due to the pending struggles on his shoulders. Again, a teenager knowing nothing about how a relationship works. COMMUNICATION!!

I'm so over this series.

If you like soap-opera drama with clueless teenagers in it. This may be your jam. Certainly not mine. I hate leaving bad reviews. But this book just had me grate my teeth.

2nd book in the series and it delivered just as much as the first book, so much so I read this in one sitting way into the night. If you havn't read book one then stop right here and go read it first (essential for this series), you won't be sorry.

So Chloe and Bryce. After events in book one, Chloe and Bryce had seperated, but now Bryce's father, Gus, is in big trouble and Bryce wants, no needs Chloe back. The conditions attached to Chloe's return are draconian and controlling to say the least, but the payout is huge. Chloe needs that money to secure hers and Noahs future. So we hit another rollercoaster, Chloe making a pact with herself to just do what she needs to do and not let Bryce get back under her skin, Bryce just wants to save the family business that his fathers actions has put at huge risk. It's not long before the undeniable chemistry between flares up and you get some really scorching scenes between them. Whilst Bryce and Chloe re-connect in every way, Chloes stepmother threatens her re-found happiness, whilst Bryce's father is determined to split them up for good. Another huge cliffhanger has left me hungry to get hold of the third installment to this trilogy.

3.5 stars. After the ending in the first book, I wondered what was in store next for Chloe and Bryce. Turns out that Chloe didn’t have to wait too long before she and her brother were back at Bryce’s residence due to his request. While I am rooting for Chloe because I don’t always know how to read Bryce, I do recognize that a part of him wanted her to fight to stay and is disappointed by her motivation for returning although Chloe is simply trying to secure stability for Noah and protect her heart. There’s plenty of drama because the whole family is involved now with tabloid headlines everywhere. Chloe herself is trying to fend off toxic people. While it was the cause of their problems before - lack of communication and honesty - Bryce and Chloe are still tiptoeing around each other in earning trust. The stakes keep getting higher and Chloe is like a fish out of water with how well she fits in, but I admire her resolve to protect those she loves. There’s another cliffhanger here and maybe in the next book when all the secrets and lies are revealed, Bryce will realize that he needs to fight for his own happiness, too.

After reading the second book, I’m still not connecting with the story. The book is good, but there are just points that aren’t for me. I’m here for a billionaire arranged marriage romance. I’m not here for a FMC that has zero backbone whatsoever. Some of her inner dialogue makes it seems like she’s finally going to stand up for herself, but then she just rolls over for whatever anyone says. The amount of gaslighting in this book drove me insane (I’m looking at you Hazel). She’s supposed to be doing this for her brother, but she’s only had maybe 5 interactions with him since this whole debacle started? I also stand by what I said after book one - I can’t read Bryce or his intentions well at all, and I think it’s because we only get Chloe’s POV. He says he loves Chloe and would stand and protect her, but I don’t see it. He’s not done anything to prove he views her as anything other than a possession. All of that aside, this book isn’t a bad book - I just didn’t connect with it. I might still read the conclusion to the trilogy when it comes out just to see how everything gets tied up, but we’ll see.

This is the second book in this incredible trilogy, and this story picks up a couple of weeks after Chloe left. Bryce needs Chloe to come back to put on a united front due to a family scandal. Chloe just wants a better life for herself and her brother. The chemistry between Bryce and Chloe is undeniable, and communication is improving between them. With a meddling stepmother, a troublesome ex-girlfriend, and family dynamics, are all working against them staying as a couple, will they be able to survive? This is a well written story which has an age gap, family, drama, emotions, intrigue, and suspense, which leads to a riveting page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommended.

I am going to start by saying that the books are well written if this trope/story line is your jam. Arrange marriage is my favourite which is why I picked it up but trust issues/cheating/miscommunication is not. The FMC is super weak in my opinion. She starts off doing it for her brother to make sure he is safe but just rolls over on everything else and never stands up for herself. Red flag. Also our MMC clearly needs therapy. If it was written from dual POVs and we could see his perspective, then I might have got it a bit more. He just never seems at any point 100% committed to her and that’s where I was out. I can’t take the emotional rollercoaster of will they/won’t they/I’m running away/you’re a cheater/emotional blackmail. Again - if this is your jam, it is well written and a good story line.

I was in awe reading about Bryce and Chloes marriage contract and then the deep love they found for each other. Felicia (Bryce ex fiance) is one snobby spoiled rich girl. Despite Chloes father in law blackmailing her I was dancing with the tequila induced knock down she gave Felicia. The only downside is I can not imagine Bryce being a CEO of a billion dollar empire and have no clue to what is going on around him! You would think he had a security team that is actively watching out for him and his wife. Hopefully in the next book we learn he is a true hero to the love of his life. Lets not forget Daphne either she is a piece of work lol Great book all in all was hard to put down. Excited to read the final outcome. Is it the Joneses, Olivia, Daphne, Gene or someone off the wall causing the sinking ship for Chloe??

too much drama

Why is it when people have it good you destroy them? The FMC is young but she’s smart and you are making her out to be stupid. Having he be blackmailed by not only her loser father and step mother but by her FIL. I can tell that her and Bryce love each other very much and it’s a great twist with how they started out and to me it’s ruining the vibe of the book. I know some people would like it but for me it’s just too over the top. Pitting them against each other bring people in that could have stayed a blip on the page and ruining the vibe. I know she’s doing what she thinks is best but I hate it. There is one book left. I will read it but I am holding any judgement on it being good until I get started. I wish writers knew that sometimes the “DRAMA” sometimes is just too damn much and completely ruin the vibe of a book or series in this case.

This is the second book in the Forever Series and is the second book of the trilogy. It does end with a cliffhanger that will be cleared up with an HEA in the third and final book. If you like age gap arranged marriages you'll love this book. It will grab your attention right at the beginning and you won't be able to put it down. This book has it all sex, blackmail, interfering people, an awful stepmother, angst, drama, troublesome ex girlfriends, horrible in-laws and more. It won't take you long to get caught up in the emotional drama. A great book that was a fun read. I read an advance reader copy via Grey's Promotions and voluntarily chose to write a review. You'' love Chloe and Bryce's story.
