Shobasakthi lives in France. He is a Sri Lankan Tamil refugee and a former LTTE child-soldier. He has published two novels, a collection of short stories, three plays and many essays. His first novel, translated in English as Gorilla, was published to immense acclaim. For the last twenty years, he has worked as a dishwasher, cook, supermarket shelver, room boy, construction worker and street sweeper, among other things. He blogs at www.satiyakadatasi.com.

"இந்த உலகத்தில் ஒரே ஒரு கதைதான் உள்ளது"
These are the sentences that repeat throughout this novel which tries a unique approach in story telling and succeeds in it. Two stories that start at either side of the book (the book is designed to read in that way ) and converge at one single point which forms the crux of the story which is seeking asylum as a political refugee . You can start reading from either side of the book and it will still make perfect sense .
The stories depict in detail the struggle the protagonists endure to reach their destination seeking refugee and the fate of their survival even after being given asylum. The book is a page turner from page one and will make you finish it in a day. Graphic scenes from the Lankan war , brimming romance between leads ,intricate family dynamics , the non linear narratives and lot more are in store in this brilliant novel with fantastic prose making this a must read

Blown away by the intense of the writing and various events with different dimensions converged at the end. Everything about this creation from the story, sequence and the way it is presented are simply beyond imaginations. This might be my greatest of all time.

நாடற்றவனின் அலைந்து திரியும் நாடோடி வாழ்க்கையை உணர்த்துவதைத் தாண்டி நம்மையும் நாடற்றவனாய் சேர்த்துக் கொண்டு பயணிக்கிறது ஸலாம் அலைக். ஜெபானந்தனின் ஈழப் போரின் காயங்கள் நிறைய தகவல்களை கண்முன்னே நிகழ்த்துகிறது. இந்திய அமைதிப் படையின் மனிதத்தன்மையற்ற செயல்பாடுகளும் அவற்றில் ஒன்று. போரின் காயங்களும் கசடுகளும் எத்தனை நாடுகள் தாண்டினாலும் அவனுடனே பயணிக்கிறது, நாமும்தான். அகதி கோரிக்கைக்காக மக்கள் இரைஞ்சும் அவலக்குரல்கள், அகதி வாழ்க்கை ஆகியவை காதலை மனிதத்தை எப்படி ஒன்றுமில்லாமல் செய்கிறது என மனம் கணக்க கதை சொல்கிறார் ஷோபா. ஜெபானந்தன் வேண்டியதெல்லாம் ஒரு சாதாரண வாழ்க்கையைத்தான். ஜெபானந்தன் மட்டுமில்ல அகதி வாழ்க்கைத் தேடி ஓடும் அனைவருக்கும் அதிகபட்ச ஆசை அதுவகாத்தான் இருக்கிறது. அது கிடைத்ததும் அவர்கள் சாதாரணமானவர்களாக இல்லாமல் சாதி, இனம், மதம் ஏதோ ஒன்றை பிடித்துக் கொள்கிறார்கள். மனித வாழ்க்கையின் நிஜம் என்பது நம் கற்பனைகளுக்கு அப்பாற்பட்டது என்பதை மட்டும் இந்நாவலின் உண்மை நமக்கு காட்டிக்கொண்டே இருக்கிறது.

நாவல் என்பது கதை அனுபவம் என்பதைத் தாண்டி காட்சி அனுபவமாக பக்கத்துக்கு பக்கம் மாற்றிக் கொண்டே இருக்கிறார் ஷோபாசக்தி. இந்நாவலை முன்பக்கம், பின்பக்கம் எந்த பக்கத்தில் இருந்தும் கதையைத் தொடங்கி வாசிக்கலாம். இருமுனைகளிலிருந்தும் கதைகள் தொடங்கிச் செல்லும். ஒன்றுக்கொன்று தொடர்புகள் இருக்கும். ஆனால் எதை நீங்கள் முதலில் வாசிக்க ஆரம்பித்தாலும் நாவல் உங்களை இழுத்துக் கொள்ளும். தமிழ் இலக்கியத்தின் எல்லையை புதிய புதிய யுக்திகளால் பரிசோதித்துக் கொண்டே இருக்கிறார் மாஸ்டர் ஷோபாசக்தி. நாவலுக்கு நன்றிகள்
