Protecting Peyton

Korbin

When I was about to marry my dream girl, my life crashed around me. After my firefighter father was killed in the line of duty, I had to step up and care for my widowed mother. The devastation she suffered made me realize I would never put my fiancee, Peyton, through that. As a firefighter, I am constantly in danger. Due to my calling, I had to end my engagement with Peyton.

When I was injured on the job, I discovered that my physical therapist was none other than Peyton, the girl who stole my heart years ago.

Peyton

I didn’t think I’d ever see him again. Even though I want to help Korbin get better, I'm terrified of what he might do to me. He once broke my heart. Am I willing to risk it happening again?

As much as I want to be with him, I also know I need someone who is stable and doesn't play games. However, despite my rational mind, my treacherous heart takes over and I fall into his arms once again.

Aside from my worries about our uncertain future, I learn Korbin has a stalker who won't stop harassing him.

Can we succeed despite all the odds against us? Or will our second chance at love burn to the ground?

Protecting Peyton was another great romantic suspense novel based on a firefighter at the Eagle River fire station. This one is filled with heartache, action, mystery, suspense, danger, drama and friendship. I loved how it was told in alternating view between Korbin and Peyton. There was lots happening for both of them and I really enjoyed how all the characters pulled together. I especially loved Remmington, Peyton's best friend. He needs his own book!
Overall a great read!

Whilst this is the second in the series, it coud be read as a stand alone as it focuses on different characters. The main characters from the first book are in this alot so it may be more enjoyable if you know of them.

Good read

Peyton found out that her mother had cancer and promptly went home to take care of her. Then she ran into Korbin. She had been engaged to him, but when his father died he broke the engagement and he had left town.
A good book. I enjoyed reading this book.

I like how the book recognizes all the emergency response teams do. Sometimes successes, deaths and injuries go along with the job. Mornin was hurt bad on the job, but if he had left the building like his Chief told him to things would have been different. Plus he broke up with his fiance, Peyton, because he didn't want to put her through what his mom had, when her husband was killed on the job, he was a firefighter as well. A lot of crazy, danger and a HEA. Loved Remmington.
