Jamie Weiss is on her own. And desperately trying to make enough money to support her aging dressage horse, Oriel. She hadn’t ever thought she’d end up as a paid companion to a spoiled, rich girl with a chip on her shoulder but that’s what life threw at her.
And it doesn’t matter how horrible her babysitting job is because it comes with an apartment and a place to keep Oriel. And a mysterious rider with secrets of his own to keep her mind occupied.
She just has to somehow avoid being fired.
Alice Carlisle had the whole world at her fingertips. An elite stable to call her own and the best string of ponies that money could buy. But with one devastating diagnosis, everything Alice has known is ripped away, leaving her bitterly angry.
Her life doesn’t have to be over, though. She might just have to be brave enough to find her way forward.

What a great trilogy. Gripping the reader from first to last page. At least, it gripped this reader!
I read 4-5 books a week, and I'm quite finicky - I refuse to waste my time. At my age, time has become precious as never before. I have no problem starting a news book, and letting it go if I get bored.
Great characters, excellent story line in all 3 books. As a horsey person, I love the feeling of being there in the barns, in the rings, and enjoying the shows, although I was never more than a casual rider in my younger days.
As always, Genevieve McKay shows her deep understanding of what abuse, neglect and dysfunction do to adolescents and children. Her insight and empathy make this a great series, not just for equestrians, but for all who care about the welfare of minors. For equestrians, it offers plenty of riding and insights into horse behavior and their interaction with humans. Another winner for Genevieve MC Kay!
This has been one of my favorite series with great character development. In this third book, it’s Alice’s turn to be the sister in the spotlight. The author does a great job highlighting the struggles of a girl after a life altering situation. Does Alice listen to the angel or the devil on her shoulder….? Throw in a strong horse character as a motivator and you’ve got another great book. I highly recommend reading the whole series!
While I have always been a western rider I loved all three of these stories! They are written well and explain so much of the art of riding! I was lucky enough to get a older mare who had been a eventing horse who taught me a lot, a retired rider who didn't mind helping a nine year old kid who was full of questions! Val reminds me of myself!
This book covers another set of hard questions about who we are as people and why we are that way, whilst wrapping it in a cutesy horsey layer. Superb writing.
Another solid equestrian novel. I have some questions at the end of it that weren’t really addressed, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Still a good read for the horsey set.
Love this series and these horse books. I’ve always loved horses but never got to spend much time around them. It’s so interesting to learn about their personality types and their care as well. The main characters in the story were interesting. Alice has been in the previous books in the series but this one really focused on her. My only issue is that the books end a bit abruptly and though all the issues are “solved” it seems like they are rushed and needs a bit more to make it feel like a real ending
