I was unfamiliar with Dr Eustace Gish, as I hadn’t read the previous 2 books in this series. Eustace and his wife Ada, attend a meditation session with a ‘Swami’ to find their ‘higher self’. Following this session, nothing is the same again.

This book was crazy and was so funny, I found myself LOL in parts. This is a book about mental health, although it IS very funny, there are also some tragic moments. As usual, with all Elizabeth Bedlam’s books, this was a fabulous read and very entertaining. I wish I had read the previous books before, so that I was familiar with a back story, although they can be read as standalone books.

This was a Buddy read with my pal Ian, which is always a hoot 🤣

Highly recommended!

Wild! 😂 A must read for those who enjoyed ‘Hello, Old Friend’ and ‘While the Plants Were Dying’ as we follow the great Dr. Gish. Honestly this book had me rolling at times. Very well written, unique, clever and funny. I just love Bedlam!

Am I the first person to review this? Too bad my reviews suck . But here’s one anyhow 👁 👄 👁
This book is all about the great Dr. Gish. If you have read Hello, old friend and While the plants were dying than you are familiar with the good Dr.😷Eustace and Ada Gish attend a meditation session with their friends Burt and Jo. Ada being not too mentally stable and not long out of the mental facility go to see the swami. What could possibly go wrong? It’s all about finding your “higher self” and all it takes is a few “sacrifices “. If you are into mental illness , some laughs and many wtf?! moments as always I highly recommend this and anything Bedlam puts out!

'Brilliant, brilliant...BRILLIANT!'

This dark and extremely humorous tale revolves around the lives of two couples, Eustace and Ada and their close neighbours Burt and Joann, and how recent events affect and change their lives forever...like lighting and assessing the damage caused by a stick or two of dynamite!

Dr Eustace Gish, a college psychology professor seeks fame and fortune and so endeavours to produce and develop a system of world-beating messages that will help women who struggle with certain mental health issues to overcome their anxieties and concerns which will improve their sense of well-being and bring enlightenment. He promises that by the end of the course followers will undoubtedly reach a higher plane and their problems will simply evaporate and disappear forever. In order to refine and trial his ideas he recruits his loyal and supportive, bored-with-life wife Ada who, as well as unfortunately experiencing multiple miscarriages in the past, and who also suffers from long-term, severe, psychological ailments wishes to follow new paths and interests, besides other women who are less fortunate totally oblivious to his recently acquired 'helpful' knowledge and proposed clandestine techniques, that should assist them with their main objective and will undoubtedly also bring him masses of fame and fortune in future. Things may well prove successful, time will tell, but crazy outrageous and violent behaviour, bloody physical abuse and various forms of carnage, devastation and destruction are all certainly guaranteed to be found as by-products of Dr Gish's brand new, self-help, mental health course using amateur psychology, delivered with a difference.

Part of a trilogy of books that should not be missed (all can be read as standalones) - all are absolutely brilliant!!

Finally, a big 'thumbs-up' to Leeanne, my good book buddy, who read through the events, and shared theories on this wonderful narrative with me that were found within this book. Great fun - cheers, me good 'Spudster'!

Rating: 4.8 glowing cursed stars of such beautiful, and wonderful, enlightenment.

I’ve missed you old friend, he said to his broken reflection.

I love The reference to hello, my old friend!!!

Bedlam kills it here , great story great pacing . You can feel the mania to slowly build. She is a ‘such in your head’ writer.

And leaves it open for a second book!

Ah, so this is where and how it all began. I enjoyed it thoroughly. The mess, the confusion, the mystery of Dr Eustace Gish on the DVDs… this was a delight!
