Damon

My life has revolved around the shelter for as long as I can remember. It’s easier that way, animals don’t cause pain the way humans do. My animal videos went viral on social media, but I'd rather hide than live in the spotlight. Women are fleeting, one doesn’t warm my bed for long before the next arrives. Until Bee Robinson. We agreed to one night and move on with our lives, but now she's my newest volunteer. I’ve tried to maintain my distance, but her aura is impossible to resist.

Bee

I fail at everything. Motherhood, sobriety, life. A fresh start after rehab is a chance to fix things, especially my relationship with my daughters. Part of my parole means I’m stuck volunteering at the local shelter.
The animals are sweet, but working with Damon Allen is a constant reminder of the passionate night we spent together. We thought we'd never meet again, and now I'm fighting memories of his skin on mine every time he walks in the room.

Then we have to travel for work.
One week, and my volunteer hours are up.
Things can go back to normal.
But what if…
Normal isn't what I want anymore?

This is the second part of the Robinson Sisters. It's a fast read a novella if you will. Leigh has such a way with words. I love some drama and I love it mixed with family. Romance that intrigues us all.
This is a must read and I can't wait for the next part.
5 stars and I highly recommend reading both parts together.

WOW!  I was just going to read a little bit tonight.  That was until I started this book and couldn't put it down! This is book 2 in the Robinson sisters series.

Berkley is a single mom trying to get her life in order and make up for past mistakes, including doing volunteer hours.  Damon is a vet that has an animal shelter and he offers to let Berkley do her volunteer hours there. Berkley and Damon have a lot to work through, including their feelings for one another that they are trying to deny.

If you're looking for a slow burn romance with a lot of spice, this is it!

I received an ARC copy of this book, which releases September 22, 2022.

I'm a hard sell on "enemies into lovers" as a theme. But the story won me over, giving just enough backstory to explain why each character reacts (and over-reacts) to the other the way they do. I wasn't very far in before I was cheering for the two to admit their attraction for each other and find out how they could be good for one another.

You don't have to read Four Day Prince Charming first to enjoy this book--the stories are separate enough--but I liked seeing Lexi and Chandler again and getting a glimpse into what happened after that first book ended without following them into a full-on sequel.

It's nice to find some romances with people in them who feel more real to me--people with financial worries and painful moments in their pasts that they need to overcome. This was a quick read and a nice diversion from my worries.

Damon and Bee have an intense attraction but each have their own pain from their past that causes a divide between them. As they work they can only last until they fall back into bed, and they fit perfectly in each others lives. However, they must reflect on their past and stumble before they can get their HEA.

What I Loved:
Berkeley, the main character, is the perfect character to make you believe in second chances. I loved how she struggled with the inner demons of her own making, as well as the ones from outside and beyond her control.

How I Felt:
When the first book in a series ends, I’m a bit sad because I have to wait for the second book, and I just want to know what that next part of the story is! I was so excited to get my hands on One Week Queen, the second book in The Robinson Sisters series. This book did not let me down one tiny bit! I loved it!

The story picks up with Berkeley living with her two daughters in another town from her family. After rehab, she felt that she needed to get away from her old life for a while and start fresh. She has just been moved from a job she enjoyed to a new position at an animal shelter, which isn’t really the best match. She’s doesn’t seem to be cut out for this…at first. At the shelter, she meets Dr. Damon Allen. These two are against each other constantly, until they are against each other…literally.

An enemies-to-lovers trope that has so much more than the trope. The story was lovely, and I really enjoyed the romance. Berkeley and Damon have chemistry that builds and grows throughout the book. Along with their romance, the story builds on the Robinson sisters. Lexi is back, along with so many other characters that I loved from book 1, Four Day Prince Charming.

The character growth that Berkeley goes through in One Week Queen is so moving. A woman fresh out of rehab trying to do the right thing for her children and for herself. She has her struggles and they made her feel so real as I read. She is a great character that I would love to hear more about down the road.

Dr. Damon is such a grouch when we first meet him! It made me love him even more as we started to see his softer side and the sad events that shaped his personality. He ends up having so much depth to his character, it was exciting to find out his history.

Overall, I just loved this book. The characters are a bit complex, with multiple events in their lives shaping their personalities. They were a joy to read about.

Content Warnings: Consensual sexual scenes, date-rape drug usage, alcoholism, discussion of drug use and overdose.

To Read or Not To Read: I would recommend One Week Queen to readers that enjoy an enemy-to-lovers trope in their romance picks. It is also a great read for anyone interested in a romance series. This can be read as a stand-alone but is part of a series. If you haven’t read Four Day Prince Charming, the first book in this series, I would definitely recommend it. You can read my review here.

My review of this book will post to my blog on 3/15/20. All of my reviews can be found at https://shejustlovesbooks.com/

This books hits you hard.

Berkeley “Bee” is regaining her life after being away from her daughters, after doing rehab, after learning she has to rethink all she knows about herself in order to make herself a stronger woman that she already is. Damon is like blinders, he seeks pleasure but keeps the walls up in order to not let his life get off the path he has made for himself and the animals he cares for. However when the two of them meet it is explosive.

In all the best ways, their instant feels is a lesson each has to talk in strides, Bee needs to learn to not let her addictive behavior from the past disrupt the future she has and Damon needs to learn that letting go and letting people in is what all of us need.

One Week Queen is a book you won’t want to put down! K Leigh gives us a story that is much more than just a boy meet girl love story. It’s a girl meets herself and falls in love again with her to meet the boy and fall in love with him. It’s about the raw honesty you feel when you meet that certain someone and it’s about letting all your walls down to build new walls together and most important it’s about giving yourself the love you deserve

Robinson sisters are back and this time the focus is on Bee and a new acquaintance in her life, Damon.

Bee is tired of living in her sister Lexi’s shadow. Tired of how imperfect life seems to be for herself. She’s prepared so set things straight for herself and for her girls but fate has brought a man to the table, one she can’t easily ignore.

K. Leigh has a way of telling a serious story at heart but with a level of playfulness. I can surely relate to wanting to find stability and K. Leigh highlights another special topic-pets in need of homes. I absolutely loved the attention to this plight!

I've been in a reading slump for a little while, and this is the first book that I've read from start to finish in quite awhile. I was immediately drawn into Bee and Damon's story for so many reason. As a single mom, I could relate to and empathize with some of the struggles that Bee went through, and I really enjoyed her character development throughout the story. Honestly, I wasn't a big fan of Damon in the first few pages, but man did that change quickly. The chemistry between the two of them was off the charts, and the story just felt real and authentic. I wanted more!

Really enjoyed the continuation of this series. The life of a over worked vet that is blowing up on social media and an every day mom just trying to get her life back on track. They try to only do one night together but the pull is too strong. Find out if they get their HEA

This second book in K. Leigh’s The Robinson Sisters series is such a good read. Berkeley Robinson hasn’t always done the right thing or been the best mother to her two daughters and she has paid the price. She is doing everything in her power to correct her mistakes and be the a great mother to her girls. She has community service she is required to do and she gets a volunteer position at a animal shelter run by a grumpy veterinarian that has become a reluctant social media influencer.and her former one-night stand. Their awkwardness, banter and chemistry is what makes this a can’t put down book.

The wonderful @authork.leigh was kind enough to send me this book in return for my honest review.
I give this a 5/5⭐️ for sure! I was honestly nervous because I loved Four Day Prince Charming so much. If we’re being honest, I think I loved this one better! It was so good!
You get a glimpse of Berkeley in FDPC, but it was so nice to see her growth in this book.
This book is an “enemies” to lovers trope with a wonderful slow burn. @authork.leigh did such a wonderful job making me want more from these two and she definitely delivered.
I 100% think you should give this a chance when it releases on 3.15! Take a chance on Berkeley and Dr. Dick 🤪

"I absolutely LOVED this book! Berkeley and Damon's story was so delightful to read. Two broken souls, one trying to put life back in order and the other who didn't saw the scars. I loved their cold and hot interactions. Dual POV guaranteed! Berkeley was strong and fierce, I absolutely adored her. Not the typical broken! Damon, Damon, Damon he was all! The was so much more than what he let others see. I fall in love with him when he was with Lady, I knew he was the one! My heart ached for him knowing why he was that way. Well written, lovely secondary characters and perfectly developed! I laughed, cried and fell in love with them. I loved the Scooby-Doo reference!!!"

This was a beautiful quick read by K Leigh about Berkeley and Damon who you just fall in love with. Both are damaged and together they heal each other. This book gives you a wonderful second chance romance and I loved that we got to spend time with Lexi and Chandler again. Enjoyable and heart warming that will keep you enthralled until the very end.

I received an arc copy and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

ONE WEEK QUEEN (THE ROBINSON SISTERS BOOK 2) by K. Leigh is the second book I have read of hers. I wasn't sure about Berkley going in to this book. I am happy to say I am now certain in my feelings towards her. 😏
