SADDLE MOUNTAIN is a screen play written by Paul H Smith, and from the script, written into this novel by western author, Paul L Thompson. From 1873 until his death in 1896, Judge Isaac Charles Parker policed seventy-four thousand square miles, with two hundred or so lawmen. The area was called by several names; Last of the Western Frontier, Hell’s Fringe, The Nations and Indian Territory just to name a few. Several more names were used, but should not appear in print at this time.
The lawmen of the old west had a real hard time. They were faced with many deadly situations even when they were just relaxing after bringing back dead or alive the men they were sent to arrest. Many of these lawmen did a lot of man hunting in the territories. These areas were known as the Indian territories covering approximately seventy thousand acres of land. This area was known as a haven for the worse of the worse. There were people who lived in the territories helped hide these men from the law for a price of course. There was no respect for the law in the territories and these U.S. Marshals and Deputy Marshals totaling approximately two hundred men subject to change at any time due to death. These marshals worked for the hanging judge who was only federal law west of the Mississippi River. This story is very sad, these MARSHALS led a hard life, and the women who married these men didn't know as their men left on another case if they would see them again riding in or across the backs of their speeds dead. Those men that were married also tried to protect their families because it wasn't unknown by the criminals where these families lived. These criminals threatened these marshals families of death; and they did carry out those threats. It was known that the U.S.Marshal would hunt you down if it took them twenty years they ALWAYS get their man. All of you who love westerns may not like this plot. It has carries a lot of sadness and human insight of the real life of men and women who settled this great country. The trials and tribulations they faced and still kept going.. "Life on the frontier"
ADULT Historical Western Adventure🐺🐎🔫🔪💀 with a Second Chance Romance💘
The hunt for escaped Outlaws turns deadly for Some retired US marshals and others who Go with them on the Search . This novel has graphic violence and gore So it's probably not suitable for children. It also has adult themes and a clear cut right and wrong Theme like A good western should.I
On the other hand it has some very sweet moments With the Marshals FindingA little dog that Is lying beside It's master's dead body. The little dog humanizes The Grim Marshal's task of finding It's master's killers.
I really enjoyed this novel it has Everything you want in a good western without becoming over the top. There are sad moments too But also the promise of a new life In another town Without the dangers of outlaws. The story is believable.
I got this e-book from Amazon 📚 with kindle unlimited

One of the very best. Outlaws, family, friendship, and love. It all came together in this book. I have read almost all of his books and have enjoyed them all. Thank you Paul Thompson!
I loved this one, almost too much action and sadness on a very rough day, but it was really good and took my mind off of the sad news we are dealing with! I really enjoy this author and his way of writing!
Shorty Thompson book 4? What a disappointment! Please don't suck me in again. When I got to 70 percent I thumbed threw page by page looking for Short's name. You cheated.
Thompson writes books worthy to be listed under Christian fiction. Smith (I'm assuming) contributed only words on a seventh grade level! Thompson's books have up to this one been good , please keep clean books coming.
