Garrett’s redemption won’t come easy; Melissa Rivers is not the same girl he broke.

Former GRS Operator and Navy SEAL Garrett Davis is the walking, talking definition of regret. His guilt weighs heavy. The pain and misery he carries cripples him. When a tragic accident takes him back to his hometown, he’s not prepared to face the woman he left behind. The woman who should’ve been his—was his, until he broke her heart.
Mellie doesn’t have time for Garrett to strong-arm his way back into her life. She doesn’t want to remember all the ways he loved and protected her when they were children. It’s not easy to dream of a life full of love when your high school sweetheart dumps you before you make it down the aisle. She’s long ago given up on happy endings. Besides, all thoughts of happiness evaporate when your sister is murdered but the police don’t believe you.
But what she wants and what she needs are very different things when her sister’s killer turns his attention on her.
Garrett has one shot to protect the woman he’s loved since they were kids. One shot to heal two broken hearts. One chance to prove their future is worth fighting for. Garrett’s redemption won’t come easy; Melissa Rivers is not the same girl he broke.
Spoiler alert: he fails. So he does what he figures any man who is faced with losing everything does—he kidnaps her and takes to the only person he knows who can help him—Zane Lewis

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was going to skip a review of this one and just DNF because this is not my cup of tea but I just couldn’t get over the absurdity. In fact, 2 stars only for Cash who was a hoot. As for the rest? The execution and plot devised was annoying because I feel like I lost a few brain cells reading it. For example, timelines change periodically through the story or are left out when it's instrumental for reader to understand unless the goal here was to get whiplash trying to figure it out and make sense of it.

Then we have the whole “heroine is so hurt that she pushes him away” and H’s “redemption” arc that is so laughable to border on non-existent.

And then let’s not forget the single most hated tropes were added here to make it suck even more such as:

- 17 year separation
- Not celibate during separation
- True love my hinny!
- Baby names used by MCs (Grrrr! Gag me please!) 🤢🤮
- Heroine blaming herself for H breaking up with her and having amnesia of all the shitty things he did & said to her because lusting after him is more important. 🤦
- Stories left open ended (see below)
- Lack of any mystery or suspense and a heroine too dumb for words. It’s actually a coin toss who was more dumber - H or h.

Plot:

H & h were childhood besties & lovers. They met when they were very young at the age of 12/13 and fell in love. Not sure when they started dating but it was mentioned they were together for 7 years before they ended. They both knew that the other was their person and fated to be together. Now it isn’t explained, but Hero states that heroine gave HIM her firsts (aka her virginity) but HE didn’t say the same of her and if they were together for 7 yrs, that means they started dating at age 14 because they supposedly broke up at 20 since in the present, they are 37 yrs old. Yep – timeline again. So strike 1 for me was that if he didn’t lose his virginity to h, then he lost it to someone else and that means he was screwing around at age 14 and younger? “Destiny” shit my hinny! 😣

Then strike 2 came when at age 20, they were living together & engaged but H had enlisted in the Navy and was going to California where he was stationed and heroine was going with him. But because she had a messed up family with issues and constantly needed her, she asked him for time to fix things for her family and that she would follow him to CA. But the big baby he was, he had a hissy fit and broke up with her and basically ghosted her for 17 years!

Yep – 17 years! But in between those years, she reached out to him when she learned he was hurt on a mission and because he was messed up and needed her, he was too scared to tell her so he decides to hurt her instead even more by sending her an email that basically told her to drop dead and stop contacting him because she was dead to him! Yep. He went there….. 🤬

Now I am not sure if this was around the time that she was already engaged, married or going through a divorce to OM because timelines is not this author’s fort, but yes, she married another dude sometime between the time they broke up and when they reunite. The OM is mentioned as a very nice & handsome man who cheated throughout their marriage because she couldn’t give him her whole heart as she was still in love with H. She forgave him because she felt she was emotionally cheating on hubby because of her love for H and that it was okay for him to cheat on her because she couldn’t return his love. 🥴

In all that time during separation, H in turn was just screwing around with “skanks”.

So in the present, H returns home to take care of his sick Father & support his Mom (not mind you for h) and he has a lot of guilt to overcome with both the way he ended things with h and with his team (mostly his team though). When he runs into h who is a nurse and very close to his family, it takes his Father & his friends to push him into making things right with her because he is too much of a wuss to go after her himself. (If you are keeping count, that’s Strike 3).

So now we have him interfering in h’s life because she is trying to hold her family together and trying to get evidence against her Brother-in-Law to gain custody of her niece & nephew as she thinks he killed her sister.

The “suspense” of the story and having any danger or progress on that front, did not occur until the end of the story after they got married and we had a somewhat HEA.

And if you are expecting a wrapped up resolution or whatnot, let me just add that if you are able to finish this without gagging with all the “honey’s and “baby’s” that the MCs constantly exchange and becomes so repetitious that honestly you may (like me) want to clubber someone upside the head, then you are left scratching your head with how 2 innocent little kids that were left orphaned would not want to be adopted and raised by H & h – especially as H wants them and assumes they would be raising them together. Nope. Author decides for some reason that it is smart for the kids to live & be raised by her elderly parents and not by the 2 MCs and heroine only briefly thinks of raising them but just as quickly forgotten. Huh?
----

“I got that email you sent seven days after Finn Winters died. Seven days after I abandoned my team. Seven days after I failed, and a good man lost his life. I lashed out at you when really, I wanted to beg you to find me. I tried to convince myself I emailed you back all that bullshit to save you from the man I’d become. But really, I was too much of a coward to ask you for help. I was too scared to tell you what I’d done and how badly I’d fucked up. I needed you but I was too weak to let you see me broken.”

I was stunned into utter speechlessness. I had a thousand things I wanted to say but it was like my words had been ripped from my throat, leaving me painfully mute.

“I was ashamed of the man I’d become. Ashamed of what I’d done to you. Ashamed I’d allowed stubbornness or pride or just plain stupidity to stop me from coming back to you and begging you to forgive me. I was ashamed that you were my first thought when I thought I was going to die but I wasn’t man enough to reach out to you.”

“I hit send on that shitty fucking email and whatever good I had left inside of me, broke. I knew I was done. I knew I’d turned into someone you’d despise. At the time I thought that’s what I needed. It would be easier living with the hole in my heart if you hated me. But there’s not a fucking thing easy about living without you.”

“Even now, here I am in the dark because I’m still too much of a coward to face you in the light. Too fucking scared to see your face when I tell you the man you fell in love with, the man you were going to marry, is nothing but a fucking failure. I know I hurt you, hurt both of us, but I gotta say, you dodged a bullet, baby.”

I’ve been waiting for Garrett’s book forever and words can’t describe the feelings I went through reading this book. It is fantastic! You need tissues for this one definitely. Garrett has been carrying the burden of guilt for years a trip home to care for his critically injured father brings him face to face with the only woman he ever loved and a huge dose of guilt. Melissa, aka Mellie Kate, is beautiful, feisty and his first love but things happened and he walked away. After a “Come To Jesus” meeting with his dad he’s now determined to get his girl back. Danger soon follows and his team comes to help Garrett keep Mellie and her family safe. Lots of emotions, suspense, two cute kids, great parents, parents who are learning to be great and lots of steam. And of course Zane is included. This book was so worth the wait.

Ugh! This story was so dang emotional! My feelings were all over the place - I laughed, I cried, I was on the edge of my seat just waiting for what came next! Garrett - so much heartache and guilt. Caught up in a vicious cycle until a family emergency brings him back to his past…..Mellie. A first love, a tragic love yet an everlasting love. Mellie has tried to move on but her love was always for Garrett. But when Mellie tries to right a wrong she stumbles into something that she can’t get out of. Can Garrett and his team save her? I absolutely loved this story!!

It cost them seventeen years...

Garrett is broken, his soul shattered seventeen years ago when he walked away from Melissa, and each deployment, mission and loss since then has left him a half alive, half breathing, shell of a man. Healing him is going to take Melissa and his team...but is he finally ready to let them in, to forgive himself and to embrace his future?
Z Corps books are always emotional, packed with evil, danger and shadows but they also have love, family, humour, forgiveness and plenty of dirty talkin' to crush the darkness and free the soul.

she did it again

I am gonna keep this short - it was absolutely amazing. Totally worth the wait!
Second chance is not my favorite but Riley nailed it. It has the magic of the first kiss. The HEA and a very surprising plot twist
Also; thank you Riley for finally making Garrett happy again. He deserved that <3

Another great book.

This series just gets better and better. She is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Full of suspense, fantastic characters, push and pull, baggage, and the perfect steam made for an enjoyable book.I can't wait to see what happens next. Regardless of what it is, I'll be waiting for those weird like I need air.

Sometimes a book is so anticipated there is a fear that it will not live up to expectations. Garrett was one of those such books. This character was first introduced in Nightstalker in which Z Corps is first featured. As a main part of the team, there are snippets of him but there is never a true featuring of his past. There are allusions to his past, pain, and hidden emotions, but none of the teams (Red, Gold, or Blue) truly know his history.

This book gives us that… Garrett gets phone call that his dad has gotten hurt and he goes home. Once there he runs into the one woman he has always loved. The one woman he pushed away. The one he has never forgotten. Garrett holds a lot of regrets when it comes to Melissa, but the reception from her is not warm. Melissa has tried her hardest to move on from him.

She hasn’t been successful, but has made choices that while she can’t have him, she isn’t sitting idle. Their story is a second chance story that works… while his reasoning for breaking up with her was a little selfish there is understanding in his thought process. And in true Riley Edwards fashion, nothing can be easy. There is some push and pull because of the emotional upheaval of these to coming back together. But these two have some very adult conversations about their situation which is a nice departure from some other books that I have read.

This book shows that while you can love an author, you don’t have to lose yourself over every book they put out.

This is not my favorite Edwards book even thought I did still love all it. I think a part of that is the multiple names given to the heroine. She should have stuck with one and then given a nickname… there is a lot of back and forth and it threw me out of the story a little bit. The storyline follows a little bit different of a formula than some of her other books, but it works well because of the way that it flows with this couple’s relationship. If there was more of the Dimple King, then I would not have been sad about it. But the way this story plays out, more of him would not have worked. This is a solid read that I didn’t want to put down.

Fair warning: Get the tissues ready for this read with Grumpy Garrett Davis and the one that got away Melissa Rivers.

This second chance at love has all the emotions you can think of while reading this book. From crying to laughing, happy to sad, along with the pain they have both gone through over the years.

Don't forget you need Zane giving his zany comments and remarks, which have you smiling cause you know he loves his guys and the women they end up with.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Blue team for the win! Riley Edwards writes serial special ops like no other. Garrett is the epic conclusion of her Blue Team series, the third set in the Z Corps world. Garrett has been in and out of all the other books. He’s the IT guy. The guy that if he can’t find it, your only other hope is Tex because no one else is better. We’ve seen him on the periphery as everyone else finds their happy ever after. And as Blue Team had progressed, we’ve seen why he has isolated himself. It will take Zane and Kira everything they’ve got to convince Garrett that he is not at fault for his past. But it will take going home to the one he left behind before he can really start to heal.

When Garrett’s father has a terrible accident, Garrett has to return home to the town he never looked back at, and the girl he may have left behind but was never too far from his thoughts. I spent most of this book hating and then loving Garrett for everything he put Mellie through. And I loved that she is a strong superwoman who stands up to him and doesn’t let him waltz back into her life. Watching these two come back together and heal each other was beautiful. But when her sisters past starts to invade Mellie’s present, no one is safe. And it will take Garrett and all of Z Corps to get everyone out the other side. To Garrett’s surprise, he doesn’t even have to ask his teammates for help. And as it happens, he realizes that maybe the only person left to forgive him is himself.

A stunning conclusion. And angsty reunion. A hero who can’t find the goodness in himself. And a heroine brave and strong enough to teach him to love himself so she can love him too. With wit and laughs from the one and only dimple king himself Garrett is a must read. And thank god for Silver Team because I am so not ready to be done with these characters!

This is book 6 in the Blue Team series and yes, it absolutely could be read as a stand alone-but I highly recommend reading the previous books, if not all of the previous books that have Garrett seen in them! At minimum though, at least the last few of Blue Team. With that being said, we finally get Garrett's story!! Garrett has so much regret and guilt that he lets weigh him down, things that he has never truly gotten past. To the point that, on a personal level, it cripples him. When his father is hurt and he is forced back home, he is also forced face to face with the woman he left behind. Melissa (Mellie) doesn't want nor need Garrett back in her life. She gave up on happy endings a long time ago, and him coming back just brings back all the hurt and lost dreams. But when her life is in danger, he will do whatever he has to do to make sure she is safe-including face his own demons.

I knew that this story was going to be emotional, and it truly is. Yes, you have the suspense and the action portions-but there is so much more to this story than that! Garrett has been a favorite of mine since the very beginning of seeing him. I knew there had to be one hell of a back story-and there definitely is! And knowing how much pain and guilt he hides behind his calm mask was heart breaking. He and Mellie have this unbelievable love of a lifetime that they still managed to mess up. But them putting everything back together and making it right, makes for an unforgettable and beautiful love story. I loved every minute of this book, from Garrett making himself vulnerable to Mellie to them both realizing that they have to learn to trust each other again. That the love has never faded but without trust, it means nothing. I loved how everything plays out, right down to the introduction of a new team and being able to see other characters we know and love! I don't think you could have gotten this story any better or to fit this couple any better. I loved it all! Now I have to impatiently wait for Silver Team!

Less than 8 hours. That’s how long it took for my heart to be ripped out and slowly pieced back together. I know that’s a dramatic and unusual way to start a book review but it needed to be said. Garrett, the 6th and final book in the Blue Team series by Riley Edwards was unparalleled.

After watching all of his ‘brothers’ find their own women, it’s now time for Garrett to finally claim his own woman. The problem? Melissa Rivers isn’t the same girl he left behind. The subsequent story is a roller coaster ride of epic proportions. Those of us familiar with Riley’s work know what to expect, yet we are still surprised by the depth of emotions she is able to put the reader through. So, we know to BRACE.

Garrett has a lot that he feels guilty about. A lot that he carries on his broad, broad shoulders. Emotionally he is broken. He doesn’t understand why anyone can’t see this. Why his brothers in arms always have his back. Why they don’t blame him for past events. Why they don’t hate him.

Melissa Rivers loves Garrett Davis. She’ll always love him. Even though seeing him and being around him is pure agony. He’s not the boy she once knew. She can see how damaged he is. How his life has changed him. None of that matters though. She can’t allow him to break her anymore. No matter if he is always the man she was meant to be with.

With each and every story, Riley Edwards continues to amaze us with her brilliance. Her knack to pull the reader in and keep them engaged through the whole story is amazing. Her robust characters are becoming family. Her books are becoming addictive. When you begin to schedule your day around a Riley Edwards release it may be time to seek help (in the form of better hiding places to read without interruptions or staying up all night to read the new release). This is where I’m at. This is where you’ll be once you begin reading the fabulousness that is Riley Edwards. Embrace the addiction. Pick up Garrett now (and you might as well get all the other books too). It’ll be the best decision you’ll make.

Garrett has his story and it packs a punch. He has always been there in the background of Z Corps, the brooding intel specialist at Zane's right hand and you were always aware that he had a past shrouded in darkness.
Garrett's story is about a man learning to forgive himself and his shot at redemption, the power of family and friends and their love, understanding and acceptance. It is of course powerful, emotional, heart-wrenching at times and utterly satisfying!
Garrett Davis carries the heavy weight of guilt on his shoulders, it has crushed him for years but he accepts it as his due and burden to bare. When his father's near fatal accident takes him back to his home town Garrett is faced with his high school sweetheart and former fiancee, the woman he dumped in the cruelest way and whose heart he shredded. Having managed to successfully avoid for all these years Melissa 'Mellie' Rivers is not the same woman Garrett crushed, facing her own problems Mellie has no desire to stir up the past and open old wounds and simply wants Garrett gone from her life again but he is not quite so willing to go. When Garrett discovers Mellie is trying to prove her sister's death was not the tragic accident everyone believes but was that she was murdered he strong arms his way back into her life determined to not only protect her but to get the only woman he ever loved back. Beautiful, strong-willed and feisty Mellie might never have stopped loving Garrett but she is not prepared to ever risk her heart again, no one manages to inspire her ire like the high-handed protector can and a battle of wills commences and this time there is no walking away for Garrett not when the ultimate prize awaits.
As Garrett slowly works to rebuild Mellie's trust he also begins to forgive or at least accept and finally heal himself, that he always had the acceptance and understanding of his teammates.
A great story, it puts you through the wringer and your heart will ache for both Garrett and Mellie, I totally recommend you read it.

Well grab your box of Kleenex readers because Garrett is classic Riley Edwards romantic suspense with all the feels! Garrett Davis has been a quiet supporting character throughout the Blue team series. I knew that he had a story that needed to be told and it was a great one. Garrett met the woman of his dreams when they were kids in his small hometown in Montana. Melissa "Mellie" Rivers loved Garrett with everything that she had but it wasn't enough for Garrett's demands so he broke off their engagement and never looked back. Or did he? Garrett is a man wallowing in regrets. He has made so many wrong choices in his life that he is emotionally stunted. Straight up he treated Mellie horribly. Normally that would make a character unforgiveable to me however Garrett has paid his penance tenfold and he really is a character that was worth redemption and forgiveness. No one has been harder on him than himself. When he returns to town to visit his ailing father he runs into Mellie. She has big problems in her life and the last thing she wants to do is revisit old wounds with Garrett. She believes that her sister has been murdered and the police want nothing to do with her. When Garrett demands to assist her she decides to relent and solve what really happened to her sister. Neither one of them knows how deeply her sister's death ties into a hidden criminal underbelly in their hometown. Garrett is a great story about regrets, family, forgiveness and ultimately love. It was told from dual POV and as you may have guessed I highly recommend it. It was told from dual POV and has all the feels, plenty of heat and love!

Garrett is the sixth audiobook in Riley Edwards’ phenomenal Blue Team series. I have probably looked forward to Garrett’s story more than any other Blue Team member. I was more than intrigued by the little hints we’ve gotten in previous books in the series. In this, we finally find out exactly who Garrett’s lost love is and why he left her... and why he’s made himself stay away despite the fact that he’ll love Mellie Rivers forever. But when Mellie’s sister is murdered, he’s there to help her when no one else will. And as his carefully-constructed control falls away, so do his reasons for denying her love. But just as he’s accepting this revelation, her sister’s murderer sets his sights on her, and he has to depend on his team to help him protect the love of his life.

This romantic, witty, emotional, and action-packed story is narrated by the incomparable talents of Janine Granda and Sebastian York. Janine Granda’s emotional portrayal of Mellie is spot-on, effortlessly capturing the wounded strength and hesitant hope of this endearing character. And Sebastian York is the perfect choice to voice the tortured yet unbreakable spirit that drives the character of Garrett. All the guilt, self-loathing, and yearning Garrett feels come through so clearly in his passionate performance. Together, these two fantastic voice artists flawlessly bring all the joy and pain, hope and doubt, and love and longing of this story to life, making this an absolute must-listen for any romance audio fan.

Perfection as always

Combine danger, romance, second chances, high school sweethearts, family, friends, loyalty, passion, and love and you have everything that makes Garrett an amazing book!! Riley Edwards alway delivers amazing books and Garrett Blue Team #6 is no exception. Garrett has been struggling for a while and he knows being back home in his hometown may lead to him seeing Melissa again after he destroyed them! Melissa is trying to move on with her life and be the best daughter and Auntie she can be to her niece and nephew but someone is missing from her life but she can’t think that way because it’s over and can never be again! She knew he’d be coming home for his dad but she was never ready for his presence. He takes over all her mind space and she can’t not be drawn to this amazing man.

Garrett can’t stop wanting her but he has to amend his past decisions if she’ll ever trust him again. When fate intervenes and his team needs to protect them all he knows this is one shot to make amends for everything! This is an emotional and powerful story that will leave you smiling from all the love and devotion these team guys have for each other and for the women they love. As always, it was beautifully done and Garrett & Melissa are so easy to love and root for. Happy Reading!!!

Blue team book 6. This is the final story for Z corps blue team. Though it is about Garrett whom is in every book. He’s the IT guru/retired Seal that mostly works behind the scenes. He returns to MT, his hometown when his dad is involved in an accident. He runs into his childhood sweetheart, Mellie. They were friends before they dated and were supposed to get married. Unfortunately, Mellie allows her parents to be extremely dependent on her which ultimately ruins her relationship with Garrett. Even with time, tragedy, Mellie’s marriage to another man, and distance they never got over one another. Mellie tragically lost her sister and has been looking into her death, something Garrett is unhappy with but decides to assist her. She has a young niece and nephew that her parents are trying to obtain custody of. Despite their codependency on Mellie, they ultimately do the right thing and help push Mellie and Garrett back together. 17 years of pent up energy ignites between the two. However, he still has emotional obstacles he has to overcome. He finally does and they are allowed the HEA they’ve both been waiting for! It would be beneficial to read/listen to the previous Blue Team books but honestly you’d also enjoy all of Red and Gold team books first. However, it’s not necessary. Though I prefer to start a series at the beginning! Definitely worth listening too

I was so ready to hear Garrett's story and I knew it was going to be one of my favorites. Garrett is the teams I/T guru and has been there for his brothers through all of the drama of their lives. He has been their shoulder, their backup, but most of all their protector and brother.

Garrett had to go home because his dad was in a rehab facility and he wanted to make sure he was okay. He knew there was a chance he would run into his life line, the person who he would have been married to, the person who would have had his children, but each time he was around she avoided him at all costs. Mellie was the breath he needed to take to live but couldn't. He hurt her but she moved on....or so he thought!

Mellie didn't want to live in the past. She moved on from Garrett and needed to stay on that path. Yes she still got goosebumps and she still felt that nudge, she didn't want to go back to what could have been and she had a niece and nephew that she needed to help her parents with. She needed to get down to the bottom of why she was killed and if he husband had anything to do with it.

Mellie needed Garrett more than she thought but could she depend on him to come through for her like? Will he leave her stranded without help and hope if she decided to take his offer?

Sebastian and Janine did a fantastic job with the end of this series!!

Garrett’s HEA has been a storm brewing throughout the entire Blue Team series. An outstanding conclusion from Riley Edwards, Garrett and Melissa’s love story is one of my favorites of the Z-Corps world. G and Mellie were high school sweethearts building a dream-like future until the realities of war and family drama drove them apart. When a family emergency brings Garrett back to his Montana hometown, emotions surface and danger drives them together. It’s been nearly two decades since their breakup, but the longing and attraction still sizzle at the surface. I loved Mellie’s brassy personality. And while Garrett’s overbearing alpha talk & actions may be red flags in reality, from this book boyfriend it’s enough to make your knees weak. I loved the snarky banter, the found family charm, and the HOT spice.

Sebastian York and Janine Granda have done an outstanding job bringing the Blue Team to life. Janine was perfectly cast to portray the fiery, enchanting, mama bear Mellie. Sebastian’s narration of the tormented, protective, guilt-ridden Garrett was incredible. I have enjoyed this duo every second of this journey with the Blue Team. If you’re looking for a perfectly angsty second chance romance with captivating suspense, heartwarming team moments, and banter that will make you snort-laugh, Garrett needs to land at the top of your TBL.

Oh, we finally have Garrett's tale! He's been a mystery for so long...the go-to intel guy at Z-Corps that we have slowly gotten to know. Now, we know the guilt and loneliness he has been carrying for so many years. We got the beginning of that in Cooper's book as we met Kira and realized the connection between Kira and Garrett. This was only the beginning of Garrett's past returning to make him pay attention. Time for running is over, Garrett.

Garrett has returned home after his father is in a serious car accident. Garrett has returned home to see his father get better and support his mother. He finally runs into the love of his life, Melissa, and the past makes its return for the both of them. Their young love is rekindled, along with the mystery surrounding the death of Melissa's sister. As Garrett fights for their future and keeps Melissa and her family safe, he calls his brothers in arms and learns that forgiveness of yourself is a lot harder than forgiving others.

Garrett is an outstanding conclusion to the Blue Team series and segues into the Silver series. I must add Zane Lewis is becoming a character of mythic proportions. I love his so much, and I hope Riley keeps finding colors to make teams of just so we never have to say goodbye to Zane.

I have never read a book by Riley Edwards that I didn’t love. But I’ve never read one that I almost immediately read again after I finished it the first time. I devoured Garrett’s story so quickly…because I think we’ve all been waiting so long for it…that I needed to savor it slowly.
There’s a lot that Garrett has to make amends for where Melissa is concerned. And I didn’t mind the groveling one little bit. Because he deserves to be uncomfortable and held accountable for their 17 year separation. But honestly, Melissa deserves some of the same, for letting herself be held emotionally captive by the past for so long.
This isn’t to say this couple shouldn’t have gotten a second chance. And at times, the reader has to suspend belief with some events and timelines. But if you’ve been waiting for this story…which is almost a love story to readers from Ms. Edwards…you’re more than willing to do so.
The comic bits from beloved past characters added to my enjoyment, as well as made me want to go back and re-read their books again. If’s Garret perfect? No, probably not. But it satisfied this longtime reader and fan, and sometimes, that’s all that matters!

Ok so honestly, I bumped this ahead of two or more books and maybe 5 audios on my TBR. As always Sebastian York and Janine Granda do not disappoint with narrating this one. I truly enjoy their collaboration and bringing the characters to life for easy listen! If you've read Riley's team series then you've met Garrett and you know how important he is to everyone. You also get small nuggets of information about him and his past until Blue Team when you get a little more information. Well Garrett is still a mystery I needed to solve and I'm so glad I did. Garrett has carried so much guilt/self-loathing that you knew once he opened up you were going to be feeling his pain while also celebrating when he finally was able to let it all go and get a HEA. Garrett and Melissa have a lot of history and not all of it was pretty but the love was easy for everyone to see. Melissa is in danger when Garrett finally sees her again and decides not to stand idly by. His team takes his back and helps sort him and keep his "family" safe. This one is a must listen because it answers so many questions and of course has the banter/laughter factor with the team/Zane antics.

Second chance romance isn’t usually my thing, in fact I usually avoid but having been here before with Riley and still having the book hangover from Delaney and Carter I knew this was going to be something special.

Boy did she deliver. Garett’s story is everything you needed it to be as the wrap up kit only for this series but also the hea for a longtime character. Melissa/Mellie is perfect as the woman he needed/wanted/deserved and together their story is just 🔥and ♥️

All the heat, ALL the angst and all the suspense, this book is immersive in the way it drags you back and forth through their relationship history, present and future.

I read this book and loved it. I listened to this book and don’t have words for how deeply it drew me in. Chapters 12 and 16 especially almost had me sobbing in my car they were so AMAZINGLY performed by the narrators who have just brought this whole series alive in ways you couldn’t anticipate.

This audio will remain on permanent download on my phone with chapter markers for all those scenes that I need in my life!

FINALLY…we get Garret’s story and a warning should be attached…tissues…lots of tissues needed and recommended to get through Garret and Mellie’s story. Their backstory, their history, their break up, the years in between them being apart comes all to light and the man Garret is now, he needs Mellie’s strength, forgiveness and love. While Garret tries to gain all that from Mellie, she needs him as well, his skills, connections and protection after her sister is murdered and is now helping her parents fight for custody of her niece and nephew from her sister’s abusive husband.
Second chances, forgiveness, a love that never died, amazing characters, emotional scenes, some suspense, steam and sparks, and of course….Zane and his dimples along with wrapping it up and add in the banter that had me barking out many laughs out loud….including ”Cash is King” every time.
A read that was impossible to put down until the last page….FINALLY!!!!

It was written by Riley Edwards and it is a part of Z Corp...and Sebastian York is one half of the narration duo (that does not negate Janine's awesome narration I just love Sebastian's voice)... In my mind I don't think I need to say more....BUT I will.

Garrett, oh Garrett...both him and the rest of the guys have hinted enough that I knew his story would hurt. That man carries too much guilt and can't seem to get out of his own way. But apparently the universe finally got tired of his stubbornness too, and fate took him back into the love of his life's orbit. And of course Melissa has ended up in danger... so brooding, alpha protector, 'I will stop at nothing to protect her' Garrett comes out. And you know all of Z Corps, including the new members/his old teammates instantly have his back full throttle. Mellie isn't exactly keen to be back in Garrett's world, as the pain and regrets for both are heavy, but the rocky path will be worth it. They just have to survive a seemingly insurmountable volley of danger, harrowing heart stopping moments and pulse-pounding suspense to secure their HEA. And let's not forget all the laughter...love the banter that always adds levity to the intensity of a Z Corps story.

Holy shit balls. 👀
This was a freaking amazing story. 🔥

And it goes right to the top along with her 707 series. And that is saying a lot from me bc it is my all time favorite series. 💯

I’m not leaving spoilers. 🫣
Please skip the spoilers and read it blind.

I haven’t even finished the blue team series yet and I HAD TO READ Garrett’s story anyways bc he was one of my favorite guys. 🤣🤷🏻‍♀️

Now I gotta go back and finish Kevin and cooper’s books. 🤦🏻‍♀️
Hard times all around folks. 🥵😂

Riley knows how to keep her stories fresh and creative. Plus the smexy times are 🔥🥵 they don’t feel forced or overdone. It’s a good balance. Not that I don’t love a lot of smexy in my books but she has a great mix that I love.

You can even start here with this book, no problem if you haven’t started Blue team series yet.
But if you are new to her work, start with the 707 series. And then maybe hit the Red team books where you’ll meet Zane and Linc, bf you knock back w Garrett.

I could not help but feel bad for Garrett in this book. Years and years worth of hurt, anger, self-loathing, and abandonment issues from him to match the understanding, comfort, help, and brotherhood of his team. Through thick and thin they were there, waiting for him to be ready to come home and help him heal. Along with a brutally painful reconnection with his ex, Melissa. Seeing the devastation he left when he disappeared, he had a long, emotional road ahead with her to gain her forgiveness and hope to try again. She was it for him, always had been – he just had to make her see it and get her to know this time he was there to stay. Writing a lot of wrongs and a good heart-to-heart with his dad and a push from his team definitely helps along the way. This is an emotional, page-turner from beginning to end. Great to finally see Garrett get his HEA. Looking forward to the Silver team!

Garrett is the sixth book in the "Blue Team" series and it was well worth the wait, emotional, suspenseful, and all secrets are now in the open. Garrett Davis is a former GRS Operator and Navy SEAL that now works for Z Corps. He has a lot of regrets, pain and misery from his past, things he just wants to let go of, but he can't. When he gets a call from home about a tragic accident he has no choice but to head to his hometown knowing that he will run into the woman he left behind. Melissa Rivers aka Mellie doesn't want to get involved again with Garrett, yes she still loves him and she probably always will but she cannot stand the pain of him leaving her again. Her sister has been murdered and the police will not believe her but when the killer sets his sights on Mellie, it will take Garrett and his team to keep her safe.
This was a wonderful book with Garrett finally getting some relief from some of his burden, but getting back with Mellie does not prove to be so easy.

Well rebels this is the one we have been waiting for. Get ready with your wine, tissues, and cover on your kindle. ( Because you might chuck your kindle across the room and ball your eyes at at the same time) Of course we know our grumpy Garrett has issues. Lots of issues he has not taken care of I might add. However, he has to face his past the girl he basically kicked to the curb when he goes back to take his dad. Now we love Garrett but he is not a quick learner and you might want to throat punch him ALOT. Mellie has not moved on from the love her life. He broke her and there is no one that can fix her because even though he left he is the other half of her soul. She will make him work , grovel, and work so more before he is able to get her back in his life. And of course we cant forgot there is a killer after her too. So buckle in for another fantabulous story from Riley.
