There's a lot of random backstories, info dumping, and name dropping here. It's very disorganized and boring to read. The story is trying to get its readers' emotional but it falls flat due to the incredibly dull writing style. It suffers from the classic "Telling not showing" fault that many novice writers commit.
I wanted to enjoy this story, I really did. It started out excellently and had promise. But The further the storyline progressed, the more it depressed me to read.
