Let's start this off with an invitation to get some FREE books. No, you didn't read that wrong, we are talking about multiple free books. I love giving away free books because once people delve into the fast-paced mystery thrills I write, they go on to buy lots more.
When I wrote my first novel, Paranormal Nonsense, I was a Captain in the British Army. I would love to pretend that I had one of those careers that has to be redacted and in general denied by the government and that I have had to change my name and continually move about because I am still on the watch list in several countries. In truth though, I started out as a mechanic. Not like Jason Statham, sneaking about as a contract killer, more like one of those greasy gits that charge you a fortune and keep your car for a week when all you went in for was a squeaky door hinge.
At school, I was mostly disinterested in every subject except creative writing, for which, at age ten, I won my first award. However, calling it my first award suggests that there have been more, which there have not. Accolades may come but, in the meantime, I am having a ball writing mystery stories and crime thrillers and will claim to have more than a hundred books forming an unruly queue in my head as they clamor to get out.
Now retired from the military, I live in the south-east corner of England with a pair of lazy sausage dogs. Surrounded by rolling hills, brooding castles, and vineyards, I doubt I will ever leave, the beer is just too good.
I'm so glad it was a box set. I could just go from one to the next. I like how all the characters intertwine thru the books. I think there is another box set about Felicity Philips that I must get stated on. Ineed to see what shannigans Buster and Amber will get into. I always wanted to know what my pets were really thinking. Then it's Albert Smith & Rex to explore. I've already gone the books for Patricia Fisher. Those were so good. You can't help but laugh out loud at some of the antics they get into. Of course, they wouldn't happen in real life. At least, I wouldn't think they would. You don't go wrong taking time to read these books.
Stumbled across this series from the other ones by Steve Higgs - highly recommend the Patricia Fischer and Tempest Michael ones - thought I wouldn't enjoy them, as a plotline of a wedding planner that can talk to her pets and together they solve crimes, didn't really appeal. However, the books are really entertaining with the banter between the pets had me laughing out loud in places.
They're full of interesting plot twists and keep you guessing who the bad guys are and thoroughly enjoyable.
I loved Albert and Rex, and got used to Patricia Fisher's ploits after her first adventure.
However, this series is a bust. Never found an affinity with Felicity Philips, and for heaven's sake, Mr. Higgs, why do you keep having your ladies fall down and show their underwear? I'm not sure a female writer would include that. Not to mention you keep writing the statement "I almost wet my pants." Please. I just don't think we women think like that. Yes, Barbie has amazing boobs, and we can appreciate that, but for female investigators over the age of 50, that's really not an issue.
Steve Higgs mastered the art of weaving stories in and out of many murder mysteries, introducing new characters and bring back well known characters from other book series’ that he’s written. A wonderful way to step out of one’s troubles and into the world he created!
Felicity considers herself THE wedding planner to the rich and famous but her recent weddings all seem to involve murder and mayhem. She gets help from her niece Mindy and other staff as she tries to solve the cases, but her best help comes from her dog and cat with whom she can communicate.
A wedding that includes dogs is a different approach. When the ring bearer, a prize winning tiny pooch disappears, everything is thrown into chaos. Another great read. Thanks!
Felicity is a wedding planner and she is having problems with things going right. Very good read entertaining characters and events that happen and she tries to solve the mystery murders.
I have to say that Mindy and Vince are my favorite characters in this series. I loved when The Blue Moon boys, Patricia Fisher et al., and then Albert and Rex joined in. Crossovers like that are so great!
I really enjoyed this box set. They are always a great read. The dogs and the cat gave me the best belly laugh I have had in a long time. Good one Steve Higgs.
Steve Higgs is a great author. These are mysteries with laugh out loud events happening throughout the novel. The characters are very interesting and funny. I love them all.
The characters, human and furry are hysterical and wonderful and accessible in a wonderful way. My Wi-Fi went out so I had to find my phone to hotspot and leave this. Seriously start at the beginning!
This was a delightful story, though it was 4 books (a lot of pages) the writing was very descriptive and I found myself chuckling at the antics of the pet's while trying to solve the mystery before the author gives away the ending.
Just finished the boxed series with delight; in fact with such and having developed much interest in the human as well as animal characters, I must dip into further adventures and developing relationships of them my just downloaded Book 6…to be continued…
Treacley, too cute, waste of time and money. I wonder how readers can find the same book so vastly different. It’s that “ different strokes for different folks” thing in action, I guess.
I will admit that I don’t like Felicity as well as Patricia or Albert, but the stories are engaging, and the conversations the pets have are hilarious. And even if occasionally irritated, I still can’t stop reading and laughing!
Very cute series. Felicity is not exactly a stellar investigator, she mostly stumbles upon the truth by accident after getting it wrong multiple times. But she's almost a side character because the stars of the show are her pets that she can speak to as if they were human. They are both funny and loveable in their own ways and have a love/hate relationship with each other.
Love the book weaving Felicity Phillips, Albert Smith, Mike Atwell and even tying in Patricia Fisher into the story in the ending!! Awesome, "lead" into more storylines!!
