Such a balanced volume. Finally, we get to see Yagyu and Satomi have some conflict. They've been such a cute and charming couple, but reality is that there were bound to have a disagreement and I think that Hatta handled it well with the characters. I also loved that the first half of this volume focused on the relationship between Miria and Noda. They are a stark contrast to Yagyu and Satomi not only in personality, but also the dynamic of their relationship. Fortunately because of this, they are able to provide great advice to each other from different perspectives.

"The best way to build a good relationship is strengthening it when it's started to crumble."

I'M SO HAPPY SATOMI AND YAGYU ARE BACK!! 😭😭😭😭

Don't get me wrong! Miria and Noda rubbed off on me, especially with this volume, but I LOVEEEE Satomi and Yagyu and have been SO looking forward to their return!

And it did not disappoint! Them having their first fight was hard to see, but I loved how they grew closer and truly spoke their minds about their feelings. It was wonderful and made me happy because I always want these two to be together and be happy and think with them having this kind of breakthrough in their relationship, they'll be just that in the future: Together and happy. <3

While I will admit that the first half of this volume was not my favorite, Noda really surprised me with his actions and words. Miria was fully prepared for them to be extremely intimate, but Noda didn't seem to even have that in mind with them spending the night together. In fact, I really loved what he told her:

"I don't want to rush the moments we're having. Let's take our time enjoying it."

Whoa! Noda totally shocked me with THAT kind of statement! LOL! But yeah, he really came around, and don't super dislike him anywhere near as much as I did at the beginning of the series.

Though even with that said, I am THRILLED Satomi and Yagyu will be back as the focus! I can't wait for the next volume even though I'm sad it's the last! 😭😭😭

How will Yagyu and Satomi cope when there is trouble in paradise (they have a small fight that rocks their picture perfect relationship 😅)? This volume half focuses on Miria and Noda’s relationship and then back to the OG pair. All the characters feature throughout though because they are friends! 🩷

Volume 9 is the final in the series, that will hopefully conclude the characters’ stories well! It is published in English on April 25th - posting that here so I don’t forget!

What I Loved:

~realistic discussions/depictions of healthy arguments and conflict resolution

~the two main couples are adorable together

~the art is beautiful

Not for me:

~this is me in nearly every modern Shojo manga, but where are the parents??? They’re completely okay with their teenagers dating and “doing things”???? No conversations about healthy intimacy, etc? I can understand if there are tensions and such, but from what I can remember, the entire cast seem to come from fairly healthy family backgrounds, so…

~the overall assumption that teenagers *should* be “doing things” - and if not right away, eventually - again, found in most modern manga. Sorry kids, if you don’t want to do it, guess you’re a freak of nature. 🙄 I’m too old for this.

haven’t read this series in a while, but this volume won my heart over again. i got reminded of all the reasons why i love reading this. this volume brings some important developments for both couples and the contrasts behind those developments is what makes it even more fun to read. we start off with the continuation of miria & noda’s sleepover and it progressed differently than i expected, but i loved the ending of that chapter. it had me giggling, blushing and kicking my feet. then moving on to a chapter from noda’s point of view which made me love this couple and him even more. i never knew i’d enjoy a chapter from his point of view so much, but his character development has been amazing. the recreation of valentine’s day was such a cute idea. i almost felt sad about moving on to our main couple, even though i’ve missed seeing the spotlight of them for ages. their chapters surprised me with some less happy content, but honestly it was important for them to have their first fight and to learn how to communicate better to strengthen their bond. miria & noda’s advice was perfect and so was they way yagyu & satomi resolved the problem. the volume ended in such a sweet way that i didn’t mind the problems. also we got so many funny moments and expressions in this volume, satomi always cracks me up. i’m scared to finish this series, but i’m also very excited for the school trip!!

Skipped the 7th volume because it was all about Miria and Tenma and I just DON'T like Tenma. AT ALL. Sadly, half of this volume is also about them, I made it through, but don't ask how. I just don't like how they are constantly bickering, Miria's facial expressions are weird, Tenma is just a dick. Seriously, couldn't we just have Ima Koi be about one one couple (Yagyu and Satomi), and then just do a B-side or something with Miria and Tenma?? Especially now that the second half is about my favourite couple and they are just fighting. Yes, eventually they talk and I was happy with that, but seriously, I have barely seen them and I wanted dates. Romance. Kisses. Sweet things. Not this. ARGHHH.

This continues to be one of the best shojo romances ever. I'm so sad there's only one volume left, but I'm glad that Hatta got to write as much as they could for this series. Curious to see where it ends!

I really enjoy Noda and Miria’s relationship! Noda is SO MUCH like my husband! The first half of this volume was Noda and Miria and then the second half gets back to Yagyu and Satomi. They are fun as well! I’m looking forward to the final volume although I am sad it’ll be over.

✨Writing a review for the whole series and copy/pasting. I read this a few months ago and don't remember specifics for every volume other than rating. Besides most volumes are kinda samey.✨

This was the first manga series I've ever picked up and finished. I was 23 when I read this and I feel like I was too old for it which is the first time I've thought this really for a YA book. (The joys of growing older 😭)

The romance is cutesy but that's the limit on my thoughts on it. The toxic masculinity is ripe with the MMC. Not a fan of the possessiveness or how cliché aspects of it were. But, it's not offensively bad. Just not for me.

Feel like this is more older middle grade/young YA.

Out of all of Ima Koi Now I'm in Love volumes, this one might be my favorite. The artwork is always fantastic. I love Ayuko Hatta's art style, and I'm looking forward to reading more from the mangaka. Volume 8 finally brings back Satomi and Yagyu's story.

They were put on the back burner so Miria and Noda's romance could blossom and shine. Honestly I was totally fine with them not being front and center for a bit because like what the mangaka said they were becoming like an old married couple. Having them off screen for a volume or two helped move the story along and made me realize how much I like Satomi and Yagyu now verses the beginning of their relationship.

In this volume, the characters felt realistic and relatable. The story features a really healthy vibe on sex (no shaming the reader into staying a virgin or for wanting to do it) and figuring out when you're ready to go forward in a relationship. There are a couple of fights, but they communicated well afterward once they each figured out what they needed to do to make things right.

I remember not being sure about this series, but as the story went on and the characters grew on me and developed, I began to like it more and more.

Again, this is my first manga series. I would say this was about a 3.5 for me, just like the rest.

I am still really loving the art style. Hatta is an amazing artist and writer! In this book, we get to meet Noda's Grandmother who is just such a precious character. I love how she is so subtle but still telling Noda exactly what he needs to hear.

We also get a little more of Noda and Miria's adorable romance and some past truths come out - in a good and adorable way!

I actually enjoyed in the second half of this book that we see Yagyu and Satomi finally have a fight. The entire series they seemed like the perfect couple that honestly sometimes felt too good to be true. Here we see a little bit more of Satomi's jealousy and after talking with Miria, we finally see Satomi speak up for herself and how she feels. This leads to Yagyu to say what he feels as well. This doesn't necessarily end their relationship but it definitely puts it all into perspective and I suspect that their relationship may change a bit after this whole ordeal. I truly hope it does for the better.

Can't wait for the final book where we hopefully will see all four characters together!

Now that Miria and Tenma are actually communicating, they are super cute together. It’s so sweet that Tenma’s grandma has noticed a new, hopeful attitude in him, and I’m glad he can recognize that it’s being with Miria that’s brought it out in him. Even the awkwardness of their sleepover at Tenma’s house turned sweet once Miria finally told Tenma what she was thinking and feeling, and he told her what he wanted, too. They are into one another a lot but want to take things slow and savor every step of their relationship instead of rushing into things. It’s all so cute.

While I’m glad to see more of Satomi and Yagyu again, I hate that they were miscommunicating and ended up in an awkward fight. It is pretty funny that they each had to go to their bestie for advice, considering those two used to have major communication issues, but it seemed to do the trick - you have to be honest about all your feelings, even the ones you think are ugly. If you’re feeling jealous, tell them! The only way to talk through it is if you’re honest.

The first 2 chapter of this volume talk about Noda and Miria while the other two about Yagyu and Satomi.

For Noda and Miria's chapter: They're so cute togetherrr, oh my God this is why I love shoujo manga, they're just cute and not overcomplicated things. I love how observant Noda is and can reassured Miria about her worries or explain things in his pov, they're good together. Miria also without knowing help makes Noda life brighter and happier.

For Yagyu and Satomi's chapter: They finally have their first argument but it feels it got resolved too fast and easy, which should be good but it feels like they don't actually addressed the source of it, rather it's like they just touch it a little because they don't want to delve deeper that may result to another argument. But eh, it's fine.

Personally I like Noda and Miria's chapter more, I want to know their story more than the main couple.

Even though this was still a good volume to read, I feel very neutral about the actual events that happened since the letter half of this volume had a rushed feel to it.
I really liked seeing Noda and Miria navigate the awkwardness that is having a sleep over together, and mainly how Noda comforted Miria about her worries on what could happen. Despite their relationship being a bit odd, I really like how open they are with their communication.
The conflict that happened between Yagyu and Satomi though, I didn’t like. While the conflict itself made sense it was confusing in terms of how it got resolved and, the fact that it happened in the 2nd to last manga volume for the series instead of earlier in the story or an entirely different conflict. I feel like things weren’t actually resolved and Yagyu and Satomi just made up without actually talking about the issue at hand.

A lot of this volume focuses on Miria and Noda and how they learn to communicate and begin to interact together on their dates. While they have their cute moments, they're a lot more confrontational than Yagyu and Satomi. This leads to problems when Yagyu helps an underclassman and Satomi gets jealous, bringing things to a head where they feel where one isn't being honest or holding out on the other and their communication is lacking. Even though the originally both apologize, their feelings are still troubled under everything leading to feeling like there's a wall between the two of them until their friends tell them to air everything out. Things get resolved pretty quickly once they both want to talk things out and really try to fix them instead of just apologize and sweep it under the rug.

I am happy we got to get back to focusing on Yagyu and Satomi. The stuff with Noda and Mirai is fun but we already saw some of these situations with Yagyu and Mirai. I like the main couple as there relationship is laid back and surprisingly emotionally mature for a high school couple.

|At first I wasn't happy with them in their first fight as I love their drama free relationship. However watching it play out, it made sense for why they got into the fight, the awkwardness between them, and the eventual (actual) make up. It might be hard for someone to suspend reality with how mature the characters handle this situation but if you are 8 volumes into the series it really shouldn't be a difficulty 😅|

We're still on the Noda x Miria storyline, but it swaps to Noda's point-of-view for chapter 30. Personally, I kinda wish more stories did this, or that there were more shojo specifically from a guy's perspective because it seems like 95% of these are only through a single lens.

Anyway, then we finally hop back over to Yagyu x Satomi who hit their first rocky patch. And this is one part where I really related to Satomi, because my logical brain doesn't play well with my emotions. I can logic myself out of any kind of feeling but it doesn't mean that feeling goes away. Usually it means I stew not only in the original feeling but also the guilt and frustration that I can't stop myself from having said emotion. It really sucks.

This series has 9 volumes.

I laughed out loud in parts of the first half w/Noda and Miria. It was definitely a different take from when Satomi and Yagyu were in the same position! Miria's so spunky and Noda is far more innocent/naive than he appears. It is a refreshing take to see the role reversal, as well. Meanwhile, the big fight. When people get along as well as Satomi and Yagyu, fights tend to be magnified and require more effort to resolve. I like that this was realistically portrayed (even though it still had a typical manga-esque resolution). You can understand each other on a deep level, but that shouldn't mean hiding or suppressing feelings.

My lil biches who I love and adore. They’re growing up :’)
I was a little sad to see the author’s note that Noda and Miria’s story was on pause in this volume, but it ended up being the entire first have of this book lol. But they’re so cute and silly and the BANTER my god they’re adorable little shits. And the reenactment of the Valentine’s Day confession YYYAAAAAAAAHHHHHH
Satomi and Yagyu have finally hit a rough patch and have a fight after a perfect puppy love phase, and it’s so refreshing like yes it’s going to happen! You will have fights and you probably should every once in a while! But it’s up to y’all and your maturity to get through it and past it. So cute!

Yikes x 2. I appreciate Noda's and Miria's discussion on consent, but I was ready to transition from their exhausting dynamic back to Yagyu and Satomi. However, the supposed power couple could not save me from the usual shoujo tropes.
The volume's later plot largely centered on poor communication between Yagyu and Satomi. This plot device is stark contrast to volume-one Satomi, who promised to not withhold her true feelings toward others. Overall, I was disappointed in this volume.
