The Kingdom of Falmuth sits on the precipice of civil war as its leaders debate how to respond to the Jura Tempest Federation’s demands. Meanwhile, the Ten Great Saints discuss the Storm Dragon’s return and the crowning of a new Demon Lord. Although Rimuru and Hinata wish to settle their dispute peacefully, a sinister group acting from the shadows is determined to see things end in bloodshed!
As per usual, I waited too long before reading the next chapter and spent a good portion of this confused. Oops 8’D
Definitely looks like the author is building up to another confrontation, having introduced new villains in the wake of the defeat of Claymore. It will be interesting to see how Hinata and co. relate to this, and what’s going to happen next with Rimuru and his goal of peace.
Chapter notes below for personal reference: (potentially spoiler heavy)
A lot of nice build up as we learn that Rimuru is going to have his rematch against Hinata and that we learn about the next major antagonist which is the Rosso Family. It was really cool seeing that will get the rematch so soon as Hinata is the first character to have defeated Rimuru granted that was before he became a true demon lord but it was a nice fight and seeing her opinion change is going to be interesting and the should be good even if Hinata is again being manipulated but at least this time it looks like Hinata has had a change of opinion on Monsters.
Tensions are high, and intrigue as politics in Falmuth collide and civil war is imminent. All according to Rimuru's plan, until Lord Reyhiem turns up dead, each side blaming the other, although a third party seems to be working from the shadows to undo everyone's plan! Working Hinata and Rimuru to set up another battle between them, when the plan was always to find a peaceful solution. I am very excited to see what happens next!
Time to wrap up the political struggle in Falmuth... which only causes another political struggle... but it was planned for all along so we're good... until we aren't because of scheming clergy and meddling 1-percenters.
Yeah, this volume is mostly talking and a mental chess game played across an entire continent. More magic and action please. (But the ramen bit was fantastic)
So many things going on and we have so many "secret" societies controlling all the actions of the world and it appears they are all on a collision course in the Jura Forest. Have to admit that is one of the things that makes this series fun. So now let's see how Rimuru gets his way going forward lol
