A riveting post apocalyptic storyline which kept me entertained from start to finish.

Being an introvert, a bookworm, and then being invited to a party but you decline and end up staying at home, reading, all because I needed to find out how this would all pan out..

From start to finish, I couldn’t put this series down. I loved the trekking through numerous miles of snow just to reach their destination only to be faced with a town up in arms, run by inexperienced trigger happy men where death and destruction walked hand in hand.

A town ravaged by a sickness sweeping through the community pointing towards the consumption of contaminated water. To a cult stealing their supplies and taking hostages at gunpoint. This storyline had so much going on, one thing it wasn’t high on was romance, so I'm unsure which category this fits under, it's too dark in some areas for it to be YA, and it's not romance because there's literally none.

This also ended with a lot of loose strings, the power is still out, and why did the power cut out, who has been elected to run the town, does Cass and her sister stay or set up roots somewhere else.

I’m definitely keen to read more by this author because in all honesty this series was inhaled within a matter of days.

Usually when I hit a funk in my contemporary romance, or dark read genres I tend to hit a zombie book, this was just as good with enough dark gritty scenes to keep my black heart happy.

End of the Journey or the Start of?

Grip of Honor, the final installment in Sam J Fire's Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller series, is a gathering in of the people who have struggled so hard to survive, a turning point for the town of Meadowview, Oregon and a surprise ending.

At the open of the story, Jonas, Isaac, Cass and Charlie are watching in disbelief at the explosion and fire of the town church, where the last of their supplies had been stored. Harper, the dedicated nurse, shrieks in horror, guiding Jonas and Isaac's attention to a bloody hand in the wreckage.

Despite the hope shared by the group, there aren't any survivors nor is there evidence that Howard, the terrorist who has perpetrated all of this violence upon Meadowview, has been killed.

Despaired and defeated, the tensions between Jonas and his Militia and Isaac, are at an all-time high as the townspeople try to figure out how to survive and defend themselves against further harm from Howard.

Cass and Charlie begin to break down the barriers blocking their sisterhood. Each of them goes to see their prepper parents to ask for help, to no avail. Harper and Javier are growing closer although Harper is chaffing under Javier's overprotectiveness.

A plan is implemented to search the nearby rental properties for supplies. When Cass and Charlie go together to look, Charlie is captured by Howard's henchmen and Cass barely escapes to get back to warn everyone of Howard's plan and to organize a rescue for Charlie.

Meadowview's continuation hangs in the balance as does Charlie's life. How will the saga of our troop of friends end? Will they finally get rid of Howard? Who will run Meadowview? Will the power come back on? What horrors face our beloved characters?

You must finish the series to find these answers. And, since you've come this far (and loved every minute of it), you know you will. What an excellent read this has been, I'm going to miss Meadowview and the plucky people who have made it their home.

Grip of Honor is the seventh and last book in the End of Days series and I must say that I hate to see the end of this one. I love stories like this, apocalyptic or end-of-the-world kind of stories. I have loved reading all of the books in the End of Days series but I do believe that Grip of Honor just may be the best one. I would sorely love to see this series continue but alas I guess that is not to be.

I fell in love with the End of Days series with the prequel, Surviving Chaos. The more I read the more I wanted to read. Once I picked up one of the books in the series I was unable to lay it down again until I had read the last page.

Each book just to seemed to get better and better with each flip of the page. Once one book ended I couldn’t wait to dive into the next. I don’t think I stopped thinking about Cass, Charlie, Isaac, Daisy, and even Howard in between books as they stayed on my mind.

I could see each scene in my head as I read it. I could see it clear as day. I could feel what the characters were feeling. I could see Cass as she was riding Charlie’s bicycle to their parent’s place. I will have to admit that Grip of Honor had me in tears on more than one occasion.

When Cass was riding that bicycle I kept seeing her as Asta Twelevtrees played by Sara Tomko on Resident Alien. I saw Charlie as Cassie Perez played by Ashley Reyes on Walker. I have no idea why I kept seeing them as these two actresses but that is who I saw. Maybe it was their personalities. Whatever it was they were who my mind kept going to.

Cass is one tough cookie but so is Charlie. Cass and Charlie both would put their own lives in danger if it meant saving someone else or each other. Cass and Charlie both are brilliant girls and did whatever it took to keep each other safe and alive.

That is way more than I can say about their parents. I did not care for these two at all. What kind of people would react the way they did? I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I wanted to step in and give those two a month full. I was outraged, to say the least.

I must now say goodbye to all the characters whom I am going to miss dearly. I hope to see you guys again one day. I enjoyed being a part of your world for as long as it lasted. I hope to revisit you again soon. I hope it is not goodbye for long.

I highly recommend Grip of Honor to all end-of-the-world stories! Grab your copy of Grip of Honor today and join Cass and Isaac as they make their way to Charlie!

Grip of Honor: A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller (End of Days Book 7), my twenty-second read from author Sam J. Fires . A well-written, entertaining read. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book an am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. Next up Bad Boys Make Broken Men: A Mayhem & Madness Prequel (Mayhem and Madness). (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Awesome ending.

I loved this series and the final book did not disappoint. The characters in this series were well developed and the plot was so engaging I had a hard time putting the book down. The ending was great!

Grip of Honour - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

End of Days Book 7 is Sam J. Fires' series finale, Grip of Honour.

Sisters Charlie and Cass Drewer are central to the action, throughout this thrilling dystopian future vision of a world gone mad, following the destruction of power sources by Howard - a Manson-like, megalomaniacal, self-proclaimed neo-Messiah - and his brainwashed followers.

Merciless death, destruction and perverse, ritualistic behaviour follow in his footsteps, as he orders the destruction of a stockpile of supplies, (and the minister distributing them) at a local Meadowview church, before moving their murderous attention to the hospital.

Shocking, riveting, attention-grabbing and ultimately heart-warming, get your copy of Grip of Honour today...and buckle up for a wild ride!

I’d waited over four weeks for this last book of the series to come out and finally downloaded with it anticipation. I devoured and enjoyed every word. It continued the story of sisters Cass and Charlie, and the town of Meadowview and its citizens.

Cass had arrived with Isaac and being an a ex-marine, he now joined up with Jonas, the Police Chief’s son to help track down Howard, the cult leader, who had been causing havoc in the town.

I liked the character of Jonas even though we’d had mixed messages about him throughout the series. It was never totally clear whether he was a misunderstood good guy or not. In this last book, I liked him all the more. What I didn’t like much was that Charlie ended up with someone who wasn’t even a main character.

The climax to the story was exciting as they eventually located cult leader, Howard. What they discovered was truly chilling and it’s frightening how humanity can turn on itself like that.

What I wasn’t too keen on was what happened after the ending. I was satisfied when I finished the book. The bad guy got rid of, the town leaders reconciled, and it seemed a perfect ending.

Except, the author added an end note of unanswered questions, like Why did the power go out? I’d accepted that it had, and now my need to know along with the answer to other questions posed, was overwhelming. Next year, the author said, a new series is coming out amd will address that. But I need to know now!

Overall, it’s an excellent series and I highly recommend it to both post-apocalyptic, and novella lovers. I will give this book four stars as opposed to five, simply because of Jonas, and the spoiler, or teaser, depending on which way you look at it, at the end.

So so

Good storyline, I enjoyed the tale. Unfortunately that's where the good news ends, I thought many of the characters attitudes and personality were wholly unbelievable, Harper especially. I also found too much packing in the storyline, this story could easily be told in 5 editions as opposed to 8. Sorry for the negativity.

This book had lots of action and tension on every page.

I'm glad that Howard was finally dealt with, although I can't help but think that the person who managed to escape will cause trouble in the future.

I wasn't keen on the ending. I wanted to know who was elected as mayor, although I have an idea who it was, but it was left very open. I also wanted to know if the town ever recovered and if the power was ever restored.

I do really like this authors writing style and I'll definitely be reading more by her.

A lot more tension in this one than some of the previous episodes. As before the whole episode was engaging and centers around the same characters. Justice is finally done but not in a foreseeable way or by whom I thought might be the one. A couple of interesting twists along the way. A good conclusion to the series though it could be developed further by expanding to other areas outside Meadowview.

What a great ending to this series!!! A tragedy ended the previous book, so now we see Issac and Jonas need to bring them together while at the same time, finding Howard. Howard, what a wacky noodle that one is.

We have some more suspense, tragedy, also one scene... EWWW... but not every book is sunshine and rainbows I guess. Sam J Fires has not written a bad book. If you love end of days books like me, READ this series!!

Book 7 was the best of the series. Honestly I read the last book in hours.
I am very disappointed in the relationship of the 2 main characters. I mean zip happened with them. Not a kiss.
Book 1-5 was a slow read. Sometimes it felt like a task to open the book.
Book 6-7 was all the action of an apocalyptic book.
If I didn’t purchase the series in one book I wouldn’t have even purchased the whole series.
I don’t know if I will read anymore from this author.

The exciting conclusion to the epic series, which I’ve binged in one sitting, so as you can imagine, I’ve had a fun day.

This installment was really fun, but it was also the last in the series and failed to address a lot of questions, issues, plot points, etc. Hopefully there’s more to come somehow.

3 stars.

Audio:
The same stellar cast that did the rest of the series narrated this one, so it’s excellent in this regard.

Book Review:
“Grip of Honor Book 7” by Sam J. Fires
This novel is a quick read with a satisfying ending, i.e., the cannibalistic religious freaks earned and received their just recompense. The loose ends have been taken care of; it was my understanding that this was the last book in the series but on the last page, the author mentions “Book 8” in the works.

Grip of Honor is an excellent last book of
The End of Days series. Every book I read by this author is always an action-packed page-turner. I've never read a book that was a slow easy take my time reading and I usually read it twice to see what I missed in the first round. Thanks, Mr Fires for another amazing series.

Even a cliffhanger, sort of!

Omgosh! And I thought it would end with a big bang...well it did. Just not quite the bang I expected! What a whirlwind it was with almost every thread tied off. Amost. All I can think is there's more from this author and that's a good thing. Onto the next series!

Series overall rating is three stars. Readable, not particularly memorable, but not a hardship.

I looked into it and the author is an Englishwoman with 2 sons (it's a penname) so definitely not a young American, which doubly confuses me about the "ness" suffix.

Regardless, this is the final book in the series and it ends so abruptly I thought something had gone wrong. But nope.

Devastation continues with things going from bad to worse. Murder, kidnapping and so much more. Will the town survive the horrors and come together at a much needed time? Well written with good, strong characters. An enjoyable series.

Unfortunately this is the last book. I absolutely loved this entire series. I will have to reread the books, so I don’t miss the residents of Meadowview. Survival for them is the utmost right now. Don’t miss out.

can’t believe it’s over

The author has done a great job with this series and so much happened in only a short period. I feel like I need another book to tie everything up better.
Really enjoyed it, could have done with a bit more.

Good series

I enjoyed this series. I'm glad it was in KU with the few cliffhangers. There were a few turns I expected and one or two that were unexpected. This last book still didn't answer all of the loose ends but it was still a good book.
