Plenty of action in this episode, more in depth information emerging on some of the characters. Cass and Charlie looking for a reconciliation start point. The sheriff finally coming into the light. Loved it and ready for the follow-up.
I think this author is very young. It’s written in a very entry-level way that also suffers from the constant American use of “ness” as a suffix, as in “ingeniousness” instead of “ingenuity” or “gratefulness” instead of “gratitude” and I’m not going to lie, it makes me completely insane.
The female characters are strong enough to be considered Strong Female Characters, but are still so weak as to constantly, 100% of the time require heroic intervention from the male characters
The idea that Cass has any kind of “martial art expertise” is laughable, particularly considering that she’s shown no affinity before now
The very convenient blood relationship surprise of Nathan was a bridge too far I think?
Despite all of this, I would give the book 3 stars, and if my theory that the author is very young turns out to be correct I am interested in reading more that they write . The story is interesting. The characters are sufficiently different from one another with different motivations, and it is by no means a boring story.
It feels like a debut effort from a young author who has good potential.
Grip of Evil End of Days #6 Post-apocalyptic Sam J Fires ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
I did enjoy reading this book but I found a few things frustrating.
I wish that Cass and Isaac would just admit their feelings for each other. I felt like banging their heads together 😂.
I wasn't keen on the way certain plot lines got left and then randomly picked up later. I kept forgetting about certain characters because they were no longer relevant.
I really liked the big revelation Isaac had and the information he learnt which tied into another series by this author.
I saw a more vulnerable side to Isaac in this book, which was good. It was a nice change from his stoic, cold demeanour that he used to keep his walls up.
The pacing was good and I feel like events are starting to snowball now, in a good way, as it builds up to the climax.
I do have a few predictions so I look forward to reading the next book to see if they're right or not.
Cass has finally reunited with her sister Charlie after her and Isaac’s long journey and the hardships they encountered along the way. Charlie is giving Cass the cold shoulder. Charlie has not gotten over the fact that Cass left her behind all those years ago.
Harper is still being held, hostage. Supplies are running low and they are still in need of Harper’s help to find more.
Isaac and Cass’s friendship is growing stronger and stronger. Isaac is beginning to trust Cass more and more every day as he opens his heart up to her in ways that he has not done in years.
I have truly enjoyed following Isaac and Cass on their journey as they made their way to Cass’s sister and grandmother. Isaac has kept Cass safe the whole way. I can’t wait to see where Isaac, Cass, Charlie, Noah, and the rest of the character’s stories end up and where they take us in the next book in the End of Days series, Grip of Honor.
I fell in love with this series the End of Days with the first book Grip of Fear and let me tell you each book has gotten better and better with each turn of the page. Each story has kept me glued to its pages not being able to turn them as fast as I wanted to.
I was torn between wanting the end of the book to come quickly and not coming at all as I didn’t want it to end. I would love to see this series go on and on like the energizer bunny. I can never seem to get enough of stories like the End of Days series.
I highly recommend Grip of Evil to all fans dystopian, post-apocalyptic, and science fiction fans. Grab your copy of Grip of Evil today for another great adventure in the End of Days series!
Weather is not all that's chilly in Meadowview. Relationships, Friendships and outside influences really put a kink in everyone's life. Romances and bro-mances collide, Confusing family histories set people on their heels, authority of the town is challenged inside and from the outside.
Twists and turns, ups and downs happen so fast that you almost have to hold your breath. This book 6 gives you reason to demand book 7.
I can not wait for the next thrill to begin in "Grip of Honor".
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Grip of Evil: A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller (End of Days Book 6), my seventh read from author Sam J. Fires . A well-written, entertaining read. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book an am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. Next up Grip of Honor: A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller (End of Days Book 7) when it's published in late October. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
I loved this book!! So many plot twists and turns in this installment of this story… I truly didn’t see one major plot twist coming… it was shocking and wonderful all at the same time!! This book really delves into the backstory of one of the major characters. I highly recommend this book and this series!! I can hardly wait for the next book!!!
“Grip of Evil” by Sam J. Fires Sam J. Fires describes a realistically bleak picture of life without electricity during a cold winter in the northwest. There is a surprising relationship among several of the characters! The novel ends with a ‘cliffhanger’ so I shall look forward to “Grip of Honor” on 30 October 2022.
If you like Issaac, which I do, this one opens in his POV! And we get a deeper look into his past and … it’s painful, infuriating, heart-wrenching. SO GOOD.
Lots of conflicts are temporarily wrapped up, if that makes sense … and yet another is on the way … 6 books and 1 prequel in, I’m still hooked.
There is more than just one twist in Grip of Evil. Just as there is more than one train of evil. The evil men and women can give themselves to is easy to see. The twists? Not so much. But oh boy do they take your breath away. Book six carries the thrills just as the other books do. Spectacular!
What a ride this series has been. The twists in this penultimate book of the series are brilliant. I really can't wait to read what comes next. Hopefully certain people will get their comeuppance ( no names as I don't like spoilers )
Who is this guy ? where did he come from? what does he want ? and lastly can we stop him ? Will the Band of Brothers unite ? some of these questions are answered within, some not so much..I am an Honest ARC reviewer this series takes the readers into a nightmare scenario of the emp apocalypse.
This story is packed full of drama and excitement involving all of our groups. More surprises coming to light, giving us more to think about in the storyline. Looking forward to reading where it's all going to lead.
Murder and mayhem with plenty of action, doubt and challenges as the town are once again thrown into chaos. A good, well written page-turner. I received a complimentary copy and voluntarily leave an honest review.
Another excellent part to this EMP, end of the world adventure series! Good progression in the plot, a few twists which is great! Good tension & pace make this a good fun read! I do recommend this series!
I gave on on the 5th book of this series, I kept expecting it to get better, no such luck. I think the EOTWAWKI have saturated the market and there is nothing new to write....I'm moving on to another genre.
Another cliffhanger in the series. A good read as part of a larger story. I am enjoying the storyline and the characters. There do seem to be a few sons running around. But looking forward to what happens next.
Well this book did what I have been waiting for, added action!!! Book 1-5 was less than exciting.. they definitely weren’t page turners.. but sticking with each book till the end was worth the anticipation.. Let’s pray for Book 7… And I am off!!!
Wow this book starts out with action and does not let up. I really liked the part where we get to know Issac better. I am really looking forward to book 7. I would recommend this book series to anyone looking for a good, quick post-apocalyptic series.
A lot of action in this part, and also a lot of (family) drama. Getting deeper into both this series as into After the End I notice that Fires has an interesting use of multiple antagonists. Sure the main bad guy in this book is clear, but man do I hate the chief!
Amazing series by one of the best authors in the genre! Story was excellent, characters were believable, and the setting were well thought out. Highly recommended.
