He's Always Hidden Behind a Mask. Until it Was No Longer Possible.
Asher Stevens is a legend when it comes to Wildcat football. If the gossip that swirls through campus is true, he’ll be one of this year’s top NFL draft picks. To say I can’t stand the guy is a major understatement. Other women might be taken in by his handsome face, chiseled body, and athletic prowess, but not me. I see him for what he is—a muscle bound, steroid-infused meathead who drinks like a fish, smokes weed, and screws like he’s been sentenced to prison without the possibility of conjugal visits. So what if my pulse trips every time our gazes collide? Or my panties dampen when he lays hands on me? It means nothing. After three and a half years of steering clear, it seems like my luck has finally run out. Everywhere I go, there he is. Needling me at the restaurant where I work—check. Colliding on campus when I’m running late—double check. Showing up in a parking lot after an accident—triple check. No matter what I do, I can’t get away from the guy. To make matters worse, my life is on the verge of imploding and the one person I want to avoid like the plague is the very same one who comes to my rescue, making me an offer I can’t refuse. One that involves spending time alone with him when that’s the last thing I want to do. You know what scares me most? The fleeting glimpses I catch buried beneath all the hype. The ones that suggest he’s deeper and more intelligent than I suspected. Resisting the campus legend is easy. Resisting the man he’s slowly revealing himself to be, isn’t.

The organ transplant storyline didn't feel right to me. I disliked her decision to help after all the times she reached out as a child begging for money and help. And he just said nope, leading to fully ignoring her.
She owed him nothing. And his manipulation of her was disgusting to read, worse being her spineless decision. She should have put her future and her health over a stranger
I’m going to be completely honest…Asher is the only reason this gets 4 out of 5 🌟 This book is enemies to lovers, dual POV, HEA, no cheating
Asher is swoon worthy and low key an alpha dom and I’m here for it. I did wish he put up a little more fight going from playboy to perfect, because let’s be real, it was hard to believe this crazy player immediately goes to monogamy.
I’m a little disappointed in Lola. She started off as such a strong character and then turned to mush. She gave in wayyy too quickly to Asher. And then *spoiler* call me petty but I hated that she did the surgery. To me she basically just said “sure you can walk all over me and I get nothing in return”. I would have at least demanded a whole bunch of money. I hated that Tony basically got what he wanted and all he had to do was guilt trip her. So that’s why I was disappointed in Lola is because she gave in so easily to everyone. I wish she had more of a backbone and actually stood up for what was right for her in the end. But I’m sure everyone thought that was so sweet of her to be so selfless, but I’m just a petty B 🤣

Ever since Jennifer Sucevic announced this book, I've been so excited to read Asher & Lola, especially after their little encounter at Campus God, but I didn't really know well what to expect from its story until I read the first chapters: its complex, moving, heartbreaking, tender and I enjoy it much more than I expected, and although I don't take away from Campus God place as my favorite book in the series, Campus Legend it's a very close second.
Lola is one of the most complex characters that Campus Series has, a girl with a tragic, busy life and who sometimes feels that she can no longer cope with the amount of responsibilities she has on her, his family and personal history was quite sad to read, I think that the whole situation with Tony is THE MOST HEARTBREAKING THING that this series has, the way he treated her all the time it made me very angryand it made me want to hug Lola and never let her go, but despite all the situations she goes through, Lola is a very dedicated, intelligent girl who works very hard to supporting her mom and in order to graduate on time, she's kind, she loves her family and it breaks my heart so much the way she isolates herself from the world so she doesn't get hurt.
Asher was a character that made me feel VERY nervous when I started this book because at first glance he is a popular, handsome, elite athlete who, although he has his own family conflicts, lives a privileged situation of which he is not at all aware at first, but when he meets Lola and begins to see life from her perspective, he realizes all the things he has always had in his favor for his status as a futball player. Also, one of the things that I liked the most about his character was that, even in those moments when I didn't know how he was going to evolve, it was easy to love him because he's a relaxed and simple boy, but he also knows when to take things seriously and fight for what he wants, and I feel the need to say that I really enjoyed reading him suffer with his communication class because I think that was the turning point for his character, and thanks to which he was able to grow so much and be there for Lola.
I love that when this book starts the relationship between Lola & Asher is already quite strained, she hates him and everything that his popularity represents, but things get very interesting when Asher manages to make Lola his tutor in a class that is "ruining" his last year of college, and from that moment both Asher and Lola realize that the image they had of each other is completely different from reality: both know the most vulnerable side of the other and share their secrets, Asher learns to see the world differently and is ALWAYS there for Lola when she needs him, while Lola finally finds someone who is willing to be by her side and take care of her despite everything. Their love story is beautiful, adorable, tender and sexy, also is complicated due to some personal decisions of both boys, their personal lives and the vision that each one has of their future, but it is so worth it to read the growth of these two, how real their story is, and how much Asher struggles to be by Lola's side throughout the book.

I can't believe that's the end of the series, I want more. I don't know who or how but I am so not ready to leave these guys yet. Each and every book has been great and I have loved all of these characters.
And despite the fact that I felt like I knew who Asher was I really wasn't expecting to see so much depth and growth from him. He was so shallow and such a man whore I wasn't really sure what to expect from him.
Lola was beautiful. I loved her from the start and seeing how hard she worked I just wanted someone to swoop in and help her. And when Asher was the one swooping in I wasn't sure if he was going to be all that I wanted for her. But then he walked the walk and I couldn't have been happier with his efforts.
The book gave me all the feels for Lola and I loved her and Asher together. The epilogue was so cute and I loved the way it wrapped up.
I’m not going to lie, this was a hard read for me. I read to 53% then sat on it for a week… why? I like to think it takes a lot to shake me but this book ruffled my feathers. The relationship development between Lola and Asher was amazing it was her relationship with her father I struggled with, tbh it broke something inside me. Sensitive subject matter that was dealt with really well. This is a good read once I pulled on my big girl panties but it took me a while to get there. ARC received for an honest review
Typical story from author, but the cringiest part? Having the two main characters bump into each other with her landing on his groin and the “shifting” around trying to get off each other??
Lola's run-ins with the campus golden boy Asher haven't exactly endeared him to her. So what to do when she becomes his tutor? Perhaps they'll learn things about each other neither had expected. She might find that though his life seems luxurious, his parents have taught him that without sports he'd be nothing. And he might find that not everyone's life is as easy as his. After all, he's been skating through life, smoking out, enjoying groupies, and playing football, without a thought to more, to the fact that he could be more, that there would be a woman who sees the real him.
Lola is the kind of heroine I love most - loving, independent and so strong. Her life had taught her to never depend on anyone but herself, but she still had a beautiful heart and always put others ahead of herself, even to her own detriment. I admit to wondering how Asher could possibly be good enough for her at the beginning of their story, he seemed such an insensitive fuckboy, but the way Lola caused him to change, to grow, or more precisely, made him want to change, was honestly quite beautiful. Their chemistry was smokin' hot, their relationship changed and grew in a very natural, organic way, and I was so cheering them on as soon as they realized they weren't enemies any longer. I loved this story and am really sad that this series has come to an end.

The challenges that life has thrown at Lola have forced her to become independent. She is focused on her family and school which doesn’t leave much time for anything else. Drawing the attention of the star football player who doesn’t seem to have a care in the world is the last thing she needs however when he needs a tutor, and she needs money she realizes that appearances can be deceiving.
Asher appears to be destined for the NFL, so his college experience consists of football and fun. When one course could derail the future he has planned he suggests an arrangement to Lola that would be a win-win for both of them but she is about to teach him a whole lot more than just the information he needs to pass the class.
Despite all the difficulties that Lola has and continues to overcome she is one of the few people who truly see Asher for who he is which makes him want to be a better man for her. Their romance is enchanting but it is the way they open their hearts to each other that makes what they share so special.
I absolutely LOVED this book! Having met Asher in the previous books, I was curious about him as a main character and as soon as this book hit my e-reader real life went on pause (to the detriment of a couple of work projects) and I feel no shame (well, maybe a teeny tiny amount), but it was worth having to work a bit longer after I finished reading. As much as the men of this series are portrayed as being "man whores" (some more than others), I enjoyed seeing how much each of them grew over the course of their story, and Asher had the most growth (IMO). I have to admit though that I wasn't entirely sure how I felt about his actions when it came to Lola though because damn, that young woman was already dealing with enough crap thrown her way to last at least 2 lifetimes, and I was hoping Asher wouldn't add to her already overflowing burdens. I'm happy to say that Asher came through like a boss and seeing the evolving relationship between these two gave me all the feels!
I adored Asher and Lola. Underneath it all Asher is one HOT, adorable, caring, selfless sweetheart. And Lola is strong, independent and takes no prisoners. Together they are an amazing team.
Lola tries to fight it, but Asher sneaks in and what a support he is. My heart cracked with what Lola’s gone through in her past and then to have that sprung on her, and Asher is her rock.

Okay! This is a tough one. I really enjoyed the book, it was one I didn't want to put down!
But. It wasn't always for the reasons I'd personally like. To break it down, I adored both our MCs! Individually, they stood out brilliantly. Lola was so strong and resilient, my heart went out for her. And Asher? I fell HARD for that guy. He was so damn selfless and thoughtful when it came to Lola, I wanted to hug him!!!!
The thing though, is that I wasn't crazy about them together. Despite the amazing seggsy times and sweet nothings, I just wasn't going gaga over the duo. And just as I was finally warming up to the pair, the book came to an end.
The book was a bit cliche- your typical college romance. It delivered that bit brilliantly. It may not have been for me at times, but I know a lot of people eat that up!
Of course! In typical fashion, no college romance is complete without certain characters you want to smack left and right, and this book definitely has them. I resented those characters to my absolute core. I kept reading the book because I was hoping for something good to come from them, but alas! That didn't happen.
It IRKED ME. I just couldn't help but cry for Lola. I also wanted to shake her, to be honest. I am not crazy on that level of selfless attitude. Pass. What made it worse for me was the lack of closure in this regard. Yes, there are confrontations that would put most readers at ease. But not me! Meh.
The epilogue wraps up things nicely enough, so that's good! If you're the type who thrives on drama, you're going to love this book!! It's well-paced and the writing is spot on. There are some amazing dialogues that had me either cackling or gushing ❤️
TRIGGERS: Minor mentions of mental illness, parent abandonment and some major family drama.
I’m conflicted, on paper I should like this book. We didn’t really get the miscommunication trope and the third act break up (that I always despise) lasted all of about 3 seconds so easily overlooked but I just don’t know.
I really didn’t like the characterisation of Asher. I found him to be a bit of a contradiction, we open up the book with him being a cocky playboy that has legions of girls doing all of his university work and has multiple girls hanging off him at all times but we’re supposed to believe after a few run ins with Lola he’s a completely different person? Not to mention Asher supposedly is a huge partier and smokes a tone of weed but we hardly saw him drink and we never once saw him smoke?
It just felt like why even make Asher out to be that kind of guy? What purpose does it serve? Because it didn’t even play into the plot at all. Not that I wanted that because I didn’t but what’s the point? Because he turned out to be a great guy, super loyal, always following through but why start him off as the complete opposite if it serves nothing to the story.
Ultimately it was the multiple plot devices introduced that never eventuated into anything that ruined the book for me. We never really got the satisfaction of a confrontation between Lola and her father, her mothers mental health being introduced as this big thing at the beginning of the book but not once coming into play in the plot, once again Asher’s supposed alcohol and weed use that we never saw, the problems with Asher and his family etc…
I really hate when people are martyrs. This FMC is a total martyr. The fact that she gave her kidney to a half-sister she’d never even met and allowed a dad who abandoned her to guilt trip her into doing so made me so angry it spoiled the entire book for me.
I lost track of the romance because I was so infuriated by her willingness to be manipulated by her estranged father who treated her horribly and used her in the worst way possible. I had no respect for the FMC. Didn’t like the half sister. Hated the father and step mother. The only person I liked was the MMC. I’ll never reread this book for those reasons alone.
I'm a sucker for new adult (college) sports romances, especially the ones that have an enemies to lovers element, and this one was excellent! Jennifer Sucevic is one of my favorite authors, and I am just loving this series.
Lola and Asher were enemies, then tutor, then friends, then lovers. Their relationship progressed so naturally, and their story was so well-told, I just loved everything about it. Their chemistry was undeniable, and I love it when the guy completely changes his ways for that one special girl. This one is highly recommended with more than five stars!
Apparently Asher says that he plays hockey. I don't know if it's true and I don't think Lola knows either because in this book the author has never written a scene with a "game day" nor where the MMC was actually practicing. Lola has never been to a game. It's so crazy. Another this is that there wasn't one scene at all with Asher's parents. A lot wasn't believable. I basically skimmed through the book.
Campus Legendby Jennifer Sucevic is book five in theCampusseries. It follows Lola Diaz and Asher Stevens with telling their story through dual perspective.
Once again Jennifer Sucevic delivered another story that was super emotionally charged with a lot of intensity surrounding tension filled moments steering towards a strong heavy flow of angsty-ness. Especially when drama occurred. But it wasn’t surprising given the storyline of Lola and Asher. It may have started out as an Enemies to Lovers with a love-hate relationship that Lola and Asher shared. Proven through their butting heads and back and forth banter they had going on. However as the narrative progressed it became so much more, ultimately paving the way for the blooming of a deeper relation to form between them. Eventually leading to Lola and Asher not only sharing some Hot and Steamy moments that was Spicy. But also to share time together that was sweet, adorable, playful and just cute.
Lola and Asher may have been complete opposites not only in personality, but also their lives. Yet it didn’t stop them from still sharing some similarities too. When it came to family life, they both missed out on having a strong support system and the love that came with it. Especially in Lola’s case given what we learn about her, leading her to be the way she is when it comes to independence. Never relying on anyone for anything, always going at it alone. It could be said their similarities is what pulled them towards one another even more. Knowing the other could sort of relate to what each other were feeling and going through. Whilst being able to be each others support and comfort that they needed.
The journey that Lola and Asher went through was quite an emotional rollercoaster, due to the many ups and downs. Although it was mostly in Lola’s case, seeing as all that we learn about her within what she endured and suffered through a majority of her life. On top of some major events that she faced with important decisions needed to be made as a result. It’s ultimately what made you feel so much for her, particularly sympathy and sorrow. Yet the fact that she picked herself up and pushed through proved that she was tough and could be strong too when needed be. Simultaneously showcasing that she had come a long way with being able to come out of her shell. And allow herself to realise it’s okay to accept others help. In this case from Asher who tried to be there for her in any way, shape or form. Lola definitely turned out to be a favourite character of mine fromCampusseries. Even despite my anger at her for some of the things she did with decisions she made, she still managed to have me rooting for her.
With Asher we definitely see a lot of changes from who he was to who he became in part thanks to Lola. But just like with Lola, he was put through his paces to get where he was and it wasn’t easy. Yet the fact that he didn’t give up and continued to fight proved he was a strong person too. And showcased his love for Lola, the fact that he never gave up fighting for her.
WhilstCampus Legendwas a good read overall, there was the issue of the story sometimes feeling a little slow in the beginning when it came to the narratives progression moving forward. Which to me felt like was caused by the story feeling a little wordy at times. Yet at the end it felt like the narrative had been a little rushed, the way everything came together so quickly within the resolvement. IMO it could've have been paced out a little more.
Other than that,Campus Legendwas an enjoyable read. In fact despite my issues, it was my favourite when it came to the deep depth within the emotional journey that was showcased all through the story. Bonus points Jennifer Sucevic for the epilogue at the end that nicely wrapped upCampusseries, it was definitely chefs kiss.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Lola Diaz can’t seem to stand the ground that Asher Stevens walks on. For that matter, she can't stand the man, right? Guess we will see. However, if you have daddy issues this story can cause heavy hearts so a box of tissues may need to be nearby. Asher is known for always being drunk, high, and traveling with more than one groupie or puck-bunny either scantily dressed and near naked. The man has no shame in his game and will break out with one or more right in the general living room. However, he’s in his senior year and things are getting real and scouts are coming out and ice time is important, and being benched because your grades are not good is horrible.
So when a professor who has tenure, but she’d be retiring at the end of the spring semester. She calls him and the three ladies of his entourage to come talk with her after class. He knew it couldn’t be good, however, he did try to get out of it to no avail. She pulled their covers telling the girls they are no longer allowed to take class notes for him or due to class assignments for him. If they dare to try it and she figures it out they all fail the class. From here on out, you will be attentive, diligently take your notes, and complete your homework assignments.
In essence, Mr. Stevens, you will become something you have never been—a model student. I’m saddened to say that this institution has failed you miserably, and I won’t stand by a moment longer and allow it to continue.” “It almost sounds like... Like… I’m on my own. What the actual heck? “There’s one month left before the semester comes to an end.” How will he make it through that long on his own? He hadn’t paid any attention to the lectures. He spent a good portion of the semester scrolling through ESPN, checking out lifting regimens, and watching TikTok. There’s some funny stuff on there.
“Instead of automatically failing you, I’ve decided the only fair thing to do is wipe your previous grades from the book.” She angles her head. “Since you didn’t actually earn them. The remainder of the semester will hinge upon what marks you receive moving forward from this day. Do you understand what I’m telling you, Mr. Stevens?” “Yeah,” he said with a grunt. “I get it.” “Excellent.” “I hope you realize that if I fail at anything, I’ll get benched.” “Then I suggest you not only study but work hard so that doesn’t occur.
The grade you earn in this class is now in your hands. Not mine. And not your harem’s.” She gathers all the paperwork before shoving it toward him. “My advice is that you relearn all this material, because you’ll see it again on the final.” When he stares at the thick pile in dismay, she snaps, “You are now dismissed.” Now, let me just say Asher knows how to push every single one of Lola’s buttons in a very bad way. Don’t get me wrong she thinks he is sexier than sin, but cockier than a rooster. As a female soccer player at the same college, she doesn't get nearly any recognition that the men’s football program does which is a shame.
But she does garner attention but never has time to do anything about it. Full-time school, full-time job, full-time care of her mom, and a college soccer team to squeeze in. But their meet-cute 2.5 is worth the price of admission. By far Lola & Asher’s story has the most meat and potatoes and true love story of all the stories. (Tony was twisted.) I loved their story.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephane's Book Reports.
Asher Stevens is a legend when it comes to Wildcat football. If the gossip that swirls through campus is true, he'll be one of this year's top NFL draft picks. To say I can't stand the guy is a major understatement. Other women might be taken in by his handsome face, chiseled body, and athletic prowess, but not me. I see him for what he is-a muscle bound, steroid-infused meathead who drinks like a fish, smokes weed, and screws like he's been sentenced to prison without the possibility of conjugal visits. So what if my pulse trips every time our gazes collide? Or my panties dampen when he lays hands on me? It means nothing. After three and a half years of steering clear, it seems like my luck has finally run out. Everywhere I go, there he is. Needling me at the restaurant where I work-check. Colliding on campus when I 'm running late-double check. Showing up in a parking lot after an accident-triple check. No matter what I do, I can't get away from the guy. To make matters worse, my life is on the verge of imploding and the one person I want to avoid like the plague is the very same one who comes to my rescue, making me an offer I can't refuse. One that involves spending time alone with him when that's the last thing I want to do. You know what scares me most? The fleeting glimpses I catch buried beneath all the hype. The ones that suggest he's deeper and more intelligent than I suspected. Resisting the campus legend is easy. Resisting the man he's slowly revealing himself to be, isn't.
If you have read the other book in this series then you know that we got a glimpse of Lola an Asher already. Lola to me was a complex sort of character. She is a young lady who has a tragic past that will crush your soul and no matter what she has been though Lola is strong and independent and hard working and works hard to help her mom be supported and she has to work hard at school to make sure she graduates on time. Lola is a family girl who loves her family but will isolate herself from the world so that she doesn't get hurt. So you can imagine when the star of the football team pays attention to you it is alarming to her. She doesn't want him to love her. However she might not have much of a choice when Asher notices her. He is handsome, insanely popular, goes through girls like it is his last day on earth. He too has family conflicts and lives a very privileged life that he takes for granted until he meets Lola and begins to see life from her perspective. I don't want to go on and one about the story but I will tell you that some of it was really hard to read. Lola's father is the devil!!! This would be sensitive situations they warn you about in books because holy cow. It really affected me. Other than that part once you get through it and over yourself getting over it it is a great addition to the series that you will love reading.
“He’s a campus playboy who takes nothing but football seriously.”
I loved this book! Initially I was appalled at Asher, he was such a cocky jerk, but as the story develops and all his hidden depths are revealed, what a lovely man! Also Lola was very prickly in the beginning, and I was worried this would be one of those enemies to lovers that involve a lot of squabbling and the phrase “I hate you” repeated ad nauseam, but it was only used one, thank you author! This couple went from bickering enemies to collaborators pretty quick and then a lovely romance developed with several surprising plot twists, so it made for a very interesting read.
Asher Stevens is gorgeously hot and incredibly talented at football, his draft to the NFL is quite a sure thing. As such, his only priority is to excel in his sport and academics is far below in his priorities, so he uses all the girls at his disposal to take notes in class for him and do his homework. Until one professor catches on and refuses to let him coast in her class. She read him the riot act, menaces him and his three groupies that she will fail them if this continues. The poor guy is lost trying to do his homework because he spent all his classes watching ESPN! When he finds out that Lola aced this class the previous year he convinces her to be his tutor and thus starts their enemies to friends changeover.
Lola hated Asher from the beginning because of all he represents; he coasted through high school and college using his looks and his athlete fame. Meanwhile, she’s constantly working and in a battle to pay all her bills and college tuition. She only has a few hours to sleep, she’s so busy. But when someone crashes her car and speeds away, she can’t face the expense of repairing her car and Asher comes in with his offer: he’ll pay the repairs if she’ll tutor him. As they get to know each other, Lola can see beneath the façade into this young man who has been led to believe he’s dumb in comparison to his academic parents and older brother. And as he watched Lola and how hard she works, her work ethic rubbed on him and he evolved into a more serious and directed young man.
I loved this story, loved the characters, and loved that the author wrote a multi-layered story. Someone from Lola’s past comes back to ask for her help and it takes a lot of soul searching to decide what to do. She has abandonment issues that flare up when things get dicey but what never wavered was that these two found in each other what they needed to feel complete. Lola found the support she never had and Asher found a girl who wanted him for who he was, not the football player with a promising future. Love!
“Maybe I didn’t realize I was more until I saw myself through your eyes.”
Campus Legend gave me ALL THE FEELS and deserves even more than 5 stars. Asher and Lola’s story is my absolute favorite of all the books in the Campus Series. They were EVERYTHING!
“His actions actually match his words. He promised to be here for me, and that’s exactly what he’s doing.”
My heart broke for Lola. In spite of all the pain and people who let her down, she was still able to be so kindhearted and giving. It took a lot to break through her defenses, but once you did, you saw the vulnerable young woman beneath who just wanted to be loved. Asher gave her a safe place to fall and proved to her that some people can actually be trusted to be there for you when you need them.
“Instead of finding me lacking, she actually sees more.”
Asher was so much MORE than I thought he was going to be. He made me swoon. Lola saw through to his heart and made him see what he was capable of. Once he stopped living up to other’s expectations of him, you saw how smart and insightful and caring he truly was. He fell hard for Lola and proved how huge his heart was with every action and word that he gave her. I loved him so, so much.
“This girl constantly keeps me on my toes. That’s when I realize just how much I like it. The challenge of trying to figure her out. Nothing has been easy, which only makes the small victories even sweeter.”
The banter and the dislike between Lola and Asher at the beginning gave off sparks and you just knew that they would combust once they stopped snarking at each other. Their chemistry was off the charts and was sizzling hot.
“Asher is the only man who has ever stared at me with so much pent-up emotion or made me feel like I’ve been shoved off a cliff and am in freefall. Whatever this is between us, I never saw it coming. “
Most of all, they developed a true friendship and were both supportive and stood up for one another. With each other, they were able to let their guard down so the other could see the truly amazing person within.
“As unlikely as our friendship is, we somehow fit together perfectly. Two pieces of a different puzzle.”
I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series, but there was just something special about Asher and Lola. Their journey was heartbreaking and emotional yet it was filled with so much love and tenderness that you couldn’t help but fall in love right along with them.
This story is about Asher and Lola who we already met in the previous book in this series. Asher is a manwhore galore and breaths sex. Lola can’t stand the guy and formed her own opinion about him: smokes weed, spends more time partying than studying and screws everything on two legs who’s female. When Asher is in need of a tutor to pass his class he asks Lola for help. There’s something about this girl that has him drawn to her. Too bad she doesn’t want to be around him. When circumstances make her accept Asher’s offer to tutor her, she sees a total different side of Asher. He develops feelings he never had before and this changes the way he lived his life before. But will Lola open up her heart for the college playboy who is known for his threesomes that only lasts for a night?
I was skeptical about Asher. Who wouldn’t be after all the nasty manho parts that were written in the previous books. I dived right into this book, open minded that is. Asher did surprise me. Underneath that manwhore galore vibe, he is such a caring and loving man. Totally different than I thought he would be. His interactions with Lola were not only sexual but also very sweet. Knowing more about Asher’s past it is believable why he became the playboy guy he is. Lola’s past is heartbreaking. For me it was very hard to read her present storyline with her father and stepfamily. She reacted very mature, but I wish she would’ve shown more about her hurt towards them.
There were a few scenes that ended rather abruptly or didn’t flow right into the next one. These weren’t very well developed and confused me. We ended in one scene and started somewhere completely different in the next and it confused me a lot. It looked like it was added to clarify some things regarding both MC’s, but when such thing is added you better execute it thoroughly as well. Otherwise it doesn’t read that smoothly. It was all so rushed and the time jumping didn’t make it better. There were several important storylines that were not written in depth. For example, I would’ve liked to read more about the estranged relationship between Lola and her father. This was a major pain point in this book, but it left me unsatisfied.
Aside from the above, this is my favorite book in this series. It had a lot of emotions and the storyline was very appealing. I loved Asher and him and Lola made a cute couple together. The author really surprised me with how Asher’s book turned out. I didn’t believe he could win me over, but he sure did!
SWE.
Thank you to the author and PR team for sending me an ARC copy, in exchange for an honest review.
This is book 6 of 6, including the novella, in The Campus Series; each could be read as a standalone. Asher Stevens just needs to pass this year to graduate and is already being considered as a top NFL draft pick. Lola Diaz is trying to keep her head above water. She has so much going on in her life she doesn't need the jock in her life to complicate things. Asher is being forced by one of his professors to do his own work instead of having the more than willing fans of his do it for him. After finding out Lola has had the professor before and aced her class Asher asks her for help. Without a choice but to help him Lola realizes he is more than he lets others believe. After Asher realizes how tough Lola's life is and does everything he can to help her shoulder the burden as a friend until he realizes he wants more.
My rating:☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️(5/5)
I loved this book so much! This was my first book to read out of The Campus Series and I will definitely go back and read the rest. Lola is so independent that she pushes Asher away so many times out of fear of him letting her down. Asher quickly learns to read her and not only giving her the comfort that she needs emotionally but also going out of his way to try to make her life easier! No matter how many times Lola tried to push him away he would see right through her and call her out on it.

Lola's story is so sad but her resilience shines through not letting her circumstances determine her future. Asher on the other hand has had a privilaged life that he took for granted until Lola started tutoring him. The moment Lola brings up that she sees so much more in him than he leads on; Asher does his best to become a better version of himself. Her dad appearing pissed me off but Asher stood by her every step of the way. And when he called out her dad and his new wife on the bs they were putting Lola through had me squealing!! I'm shocked it took him that long to go off on them. The ending was beyond great and was beyond grateful for the epilogue. I always love a glance further into their happy ending and to not only have that epilogue but then the bonus epilogue even further down the road! I couldn't download it fast enough!!

Sweet, steamy, and laced with angst, I couldn’t have imagined a better ending to this series. Asher and Lola’s story is exactly what I wanted it to be, and I couldn’t get enough of it.
Asher and Lola aren’t anywhere near friendly when the book begins, but a series of events put them directly in each other’s paths and they end up sort of needing to be able to get along together. Their partnership is definitely unexpected, seeing as they generally regard one another with a level of teasing and/or disdain. He’s the incredibly popular and charming football player with a promising future in the NFL, and she’s struggling to keep her head above water with having to burn the candle at both ends day in and day out. Little by little, their tense relationship becomes friendship and then later something more.
These characters are wonderfully written, and I was pleasantly surprised at how endearing Asher is. He’s far more complex than others seem to believe him to be, and there’s a genuine kindness that I wasn’t expecting prior to reading this book. I love a misunderstood hero, and that exactly what Asher is. And I adored Lola! She’s feisty and a lovely person at the same time, and then she’s had to overcome so much and is still dealing with a lot. I loved her strength for sure, but the way her vulnerability was depicted was even more endearing. I appreciate that both these characters aren’t necessarily what I anticipated them to be at the start, and I think that’s what’s made me enjoy them and how their story plays out that much more.
While I love the romance that builds throughout the book, what got to me even more so is Lola’s rather non-existent relationship with her father. I won’t give anything away, but I literally just kept thinking wow (not in a great way). There’s such a difficult history there, and it all informs Lola’s present. What she goes through is heartbreaking, but then the way Asher is in response to it all is completely moving. Really, it just further solidified how much I love these two as a couple.
This romance is nothing less than touching and beautifully complicated but adorable and steamy, too. Asher and Lola are now my favorite characters by this author, and I absolutely recommend their book.
“I get that you’re scared. If I’m being perfectly honest, so am I—but I won’t hurt you. I promise.” His words are like a punch to the gut. They steal my breath away like a thief in the night. “How can you say that?” I whisper. “You have no idea what will happen in the future.” His blue eyes grow so serious that looking away from the sincerity shining from them becomes impossible. “Because I’ve never wanted to take more care with anyone in my life than I do with you.” ~Asher Stevens
Ugh not over here ugly crying 😭 that 🅒🅐🅜🅟🅤🅢 🅛🅔🅖🅔🅝🅓 being the final book in the Campus series. I don’t want it to end!!!! But Jennifer picked the perfect couple, Asher Stevens and Lola Diaz, to end this absolutely incredible series.
I’ve truly come to love each and every one of these characters. They will be missed.
Asher Stevens is the ultimate playboy football college athlete who loves women, partying, and soaking up all attention from others. He is coasting through life without much of a care. Lola Diaz is trying to keep her head above water each day by attending college, working to take care of the bills, and also be the “parent” to her mother who deals with bipolar depression.
Lola wants nothing to do with Asher as she sees him as dumb jock whereas Asher sees her as a prude. When Asher gets busted for not doing his work in class and Lola gets involved with a hit and run, an agreement is put in place between them. He will get her car fixed at a discounted rate and she will tutor him in his class. Will they be able to work together? What happens if they do and they both discover both aren’t as what they perceive to the outside world?
I LOVE it when the guy falls first and hard and fast. Asher is just so much more than the dumb jock and he is not just a sweet, loving man but just an ultimate dirty talker. *swoon* I’m gonna say Asher may have been last in the series but he is definitely the best!!
