Contrary to popular belief and (even more) popular magazines, dating isn’t easy.
It is tough for everybody because, when it comes to romance, sex and relationships, there is no difference between being gay and straight.
In Get Out, Aniruddha Mahale mines his own romantic (mis)adventures to put together the ultimate guide to dating for gay men in India.
Full of tips, advice and lessons learned – the stylist who taught him how to dress, the teacher who taught him how to behave, the socialite who taught him how to charm – Mahale remembers the good dates and the bad, and offers real, practical advice to men dealing with coming out and going out in India.
"When it comes to romance, sex, and relationships, there's really no difference between being gay and straight. There'll always be the douchebag you have to watch out for." - @akneerude
As the author has rightly mentioned, this book is for everyone (except their mother). 😄 Being a woman ( still a little girl at heart 🙃), there were a few pages I rushed through or may be skipped, but every single page that I did read made me chuckle, laugh, and highlight some essential life lessons.
The author has shared his dating experiences and given a comprehensive guide to help individuals trying to come out as gay to their friends and families.
Here's a glimpse of what you'll find in this fantastic and super comforting book:-
🌸 Real-life stories of Gay men who came out to their families 🌸What to expect when you're expected to come out 🌸Author's personal anecdotes from his dating misadventures 🌸Multiple QnAs, Dos & Don'ts, markers to identify pretentious Sapiosexuals (my fav 😁), extensive information on the dating apps, and how to make the most of them.
I enjoyed reading the SUPER quirky writing!🤩 I can only imagine how comforting it would be for gay men! Loved the quick notes on acceptance and safe spaces. It is truly a wonderful read!
There is no difference between gay and straight folks when it comes to romance, sex or relationships says Aniruddha Mahale the creator of popular LGBTQ+ Blog #theguysexual

So before i write further let me tell you that the author says 'you dont have to be queer - identifying to read this book. As a gay man writing a book for gay audience it might sound gendered - but the lessons will apply to everyone'.

What will you get to read in this book? How to come out of your closet Dating Etiquette Sex Etiquette Dating Apps Finding a date Finding your tribe Finding yourself Author's dating stories
Get Out is a fun and witty read although it does slows down at places. It has honest, real and practical advice and insights. A book on self acceptance and self discovery.
Aniruddha has literally put a part of his life (read soul) into this book. I spent almost a month with this book and it actually became that friend - tum nahi hote to mera kya hota. Haha. It helped me swallow truth pills that were too hard to even look at. Sprinkled with Akneerude's profound sense of humour, it's the funniest yet most comprehensive contemporary dating guide to exist! Well, I don't know what to say except that it has been a true friend, all books might be my friends but this one, folks, is a realer one? Yeah. . 🌈 I'd leave you with some of the lessons our author has shared. 1. The right men will teach you what you want from a relationship but the wrong ones will teach you who you want to be in a relationship. 2. Going through a rut doesn't mean that you will never get it right. 3. You don't need a significant other because you are lonely (you need a friend). You don't need a significant other because you are bored (you need this book!). You need a significant other because they add value to your life. You need a significant other because you are ready (for which you may want to give this book a chance?).
You know when they say, books are your friends. Get Out is one of those books which make that statement true.
Aniruddha has written a deliciously delightful comforting and charming book on a gay man's go-to dating guide full of advices, reality checks and facts.
I realize it's written from a very privileged gaze devoid of many nuances and intersections of castes, classes and religions that exist in India.
But this writer had already made a fantastic start by writing this book. Now, it's up to others to take the work forward and come up with books that address the gazillion of complexities of being a gay man in India today.
