Keto meets carnivore in this revolutionary new book by revered cookbook author and low-carb pioneer Maria Emmerich. Did you know that our ancestors were apex predators who were even more carnivorous than hyenas and big cats? That was only about 30,000 years ago. But since then, our diets have drastically changed due to the invention of agriculture about 7,000 years ago and, within the last 100 years or so, the introduction of millions of food additives, the development of a year-round produce supply, and the hybridization of fruits and vegetables, making them higher in sugar and lower in nutrients.
The Carnivore Cookbook explores what our bodies were really designed to digest and gives compelling evidence that we were designed to be primarily meat-eaters. In this book, you will learn why all plants come with a downside. Antinutrients are chemicals and compounds that act as natural pesticides or defenses for the plants against being eaten. Maria explains how antinutrients can rob your body of minerals and other nutrients and lead to autoimmune issues and leaky gut. There is even a protocol for healing autoimmune issues called the Carnivore Autoimmune a detailed system for stepping you through the various levels of carnivorous eating to find the point where your body responds best and is symptom free. You will also learn which foods are the highest in nutrient density to help your body heal. The Carnivore Cookbook includes more than 100 tasty meat-focused recipes featuring innovative ways to add flavor and variety. There are even carnivore meal plans with grocery lists to make the diet easy to follow.

Interesting cookbook. The explanation of the science of eating meat was spot-on. I especially enjoyed reading about the current craze of blaming cows for global warming. The science is here and and presented well. If you’re curious about why people are flocking toy he Carnivore diet for health, this is a good starting point.
The authors do an amazing job of not only scientifically backing their theories regarding the carnivore diet but also making them understandable! They also provide weeks of meal plans for keto lifestyle maintenance. Unfortunately, for those still in the weight loss part of their keto journey, the recipes are significantly less and contain ingredients not easily found in grocery stores. The authors do provide recipes to create many of these items but they are somewhat complex particularly when considering they will need to be made in order to use them in the recipe originally set upon! It is for these reasons that I can not recommend this book If you are looking to use it as a tool in your keto weight loss journey. When I finally hit my goal weight, I am looking forward to revisiting it!
This book is excellent. I cannot tolerate almost all plant foods due to an autoimmune condition. I have been surprised at how much easier it is to digest food when all you eat is meat. I didn't think I needed a recipe book but this one has made me keen to try more cuts.
This is a very well composed cookbook. I found many recipes I'd like to make here. I think this would be one to have on the bookshelf for easy reference.
Gives some basic introductory science behind the Carnivore diet, how to ease into the diet to get your body used to it then you can ramp it up with more carnivore friendly foods/variety. Then some sample meal plans and various recipes. Overall a good read to get acquainted and started with the Carnivore diet.
Though I'm on the boarder of whether or not to try the carnivore diet, this book was very good with providing a lot of nutritional information. (I'm probably more ketovoreish) The recipes appear to be easy and are definitely things I'm willing to try. The protein sparing modified fasts is something I'm willing to try when trying to break a stall.
Excellent book! The first portion of the book has a very helpful breakdown to help get you started. It provides a fantastic foundation to guide you through your journey. The recipes are delicious. There are pre-planned meals to give you an idea of how to use them to your advantage if you're not sure how to start as well as a grocery shopping list. You can't go wrong.
Just what I was looking for - plenty of scientifically based well documented reasons to do carnivore full-time! I love the recipes too and how well the various carnivore levels are identified for each recipe.
Though Maria is by far my favorite Keto cookbook author this one is definitely not on my list of favorites....or even remotely close to my go to. The name says it all....carnivore. If eating only animal protein is not your thing, check out her other books instead!
I'm not going to give 5 stars to a cookbook before I've tried the recipes, but I've gone through a put a whole bunch of post it notes in it, and I'm excited to try them. Hopefully they'll taste as good as they look.
Not JUST a cookbook. The front section of the book explains the rationale and provides the reasoning behind choosing an animal based diet in significant detail.
The first third of the book is text on the science of meat and plants and studies of both. It's a nice short primer on the carnivore diet. Then of course the many dishes. Ive tried several and they have all been quite good. This is a great addition to a nutrition shelf in your home library.
