I've been waiting a while for Dillon's story and it was definitely worth the wait. Lots of heat and tons of emotions is what we are gifted with Dillon and Elise's story.
If you have read the Fractured Connections Series you've met Dillon because that was his brother's series, the Connolly boys are great so if you haven't read their books I would definitely recommend them, Dillon is now 20 years old in College and starting to figure things out for himself.
Elise Hoover is from an upper crust family that is overbearing and suffocating at times. Being twenty and in college you wouldn't think her friends have to drag her out to have fun but that is exactly what they do...all schoolwork and no play makes for a dull time in college. 😉
The way Dillon and Elise actually meet in this book is so much fun and it leads into a one night stand....well what was supposed to be a ONS anyway. These two have so much chemistry right from the start, you know you can tell a lot with just one kiss. Neither are looking for a relationship and are not planning on anything more than just the one night, but then that turns into two....and then so much more.
There is a bit of angst and a shocking turn of events that surprised the crap out of me and I swear I couldn't stop crying for like a half hour. Seriously Carrie Ann way to throw a curve ball!
It's no wonder I'm a huge Carrie Ann Ryan fan when she can write stories that are not only fun to read but when she can knock you sideways without you even seeing it coming that's just genius. I am loving this new group of characters and holy cow after this ending I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in the series, My Rebound, which is due out in June.
I hope you've picked up the free prequel, My First Glance , so you have a bit of Dillon and Elise's backstory but no worries if you haven't read it before this book because it can be read without it, but it's free so go grab it...you'll be happy you did.
I would recommend this book to everyone that enjoys Steamy New Adult Romances, Contemporary Romances, or Opposites Attract Romances.

My One Night was such a fun book to read and it was captivating from the very beginning. I loved the connection between Dillon and Elise and it felt very real. Every interaction they had had me invested so deeply in their relationship and ignoring all reality as I read. They didn't always have the easiest time being together and they both had things to work out before committing to one another but that made their relationship all the better.
Overall, this was a brilliant start to this series and also made me go back and start the Fractured Connections series which is where Dillon was first introduced. I can't wait for more from the new characters we've met and I just know the next book will be just as amazing.

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧
It's my first time reading this author, and I know I'm late for the party, considering how many books she have written, but better late than never, I guess! 😁😁
This book is a spin off of another series, that i haven't read, but it wasn't important here...
Dillon is trying to find his place in the world, finding his own worth, after been let down his whole life, and his family is all over the place... At least the family that he now have! They probably have their own series, considering they're all mentioned a lot and are all formed couples.
I loved his family and i really loved the whole college house and first experiences that they were all living. It's an interesting group and the audiobook made me company while I was outside.
Elise was a sweet and shy girl, trying to make her own decisions, with overly intrusive parents.
I loved how they met and how things started between them! It was sweet, spontaneous and awkward! It was kinda of perfect!
It's been a while since I've read college NA, and I had forgotten how curious about everyone's life and love story I usually become!
After a few bumps and a sad event, Dillon and Elise finally find their own balance and I couldn't be happier for them.
Now, next book is something I can't wait to listen to! I actually didn't saw that coming, and now I hooked!

What a promising start to a new series from the prolific and always creative Carrie Ann Ryan. And exciting to see a new contemporary, new adult, sweet and steamy series from her!
Dillion and Elise were only supposed to indulge in an unexpected one night stand- neither want anything permanent and are not entirely compatible on paper, but the chemistry is scorching, and from the first kiss, it’s clear it's going to be hard for this to stay a one night deal. Carrie Ann works in quite a few twists and unexpected moments that help catalyze these two leaning into their connection, as Dillon’s past and Elise’s present open up wounds old and new.
Both Elise and Dillion are likable and charming as characters, the chemistry is just adorable. Dillion is just a really good guy, even though he had a rough childhood that weighs on him. Elise has her own family pressures, entirely different than Dillion’s, and where Dillion has direction she feels a bit more lost. The story is quite sweet, with some heart-breaking moments, but these two find a charming sweet HEA. And, we get to meet a vast array of new series characters that I can’t wait to read more about in their own stories.
Note:There is a free prequel (On my Own) that is a great enhancement to this book and covers Elise and Dillion’s backstory, but the book can be read without it. Each book can be read as a standalone, but the characters are interconnected.

Almost DNF
I really had to force myself to finish this book. This is my first book from this author, but I'm not sure I'll continue with her other books. The story was just ok and writing was stilted - some parts didn't make sense, or was a little vague. In the end, I didn't really care if both the main characters got together or not because I didn't feel invested in them.

College romance is not something I gravitate towards because I’m several years removed from that phase of my life lol, but I enjoyed this one. I genuinely liked Elise and Dillon. They were relatable and I wanted them to be happy. This felt more like an HFN, but I’m sure we’ll get more of them throughout the series.
I wish I had read Dillon’s brothers’ books before this one. I’ll have to remedy that soon because I need those stories!

I’ve loved Dillon since I first met him on the page, and that only grew as I watched him become part of the family with his brothers. It seems like forever waiting for him to grow up and get his own HEA, and it is finally here and he did not disappoint! This book so clearly captures that NA confusion of “supposed to” and it sweeps Elisa and Dillon up in that wave. What your college life is ‘supposed to’ consist of, and what your college relationships are ‘supposed to’ be like, and how being an adult is ‘supposed to’ have you acting, and how your relationships with your loved ones are ‘supposed to’ transform from caregivers to equals overnight. Elisa and Dillon work their way through all of it, and hit several bumps along the way. They finally reach the point where they forget about what life is supposed to be like, and start living the life they have, the way they want to, and in a way that makes them happy <3

Alright, I really thought I would like this one, and I actually did for a bit. I liked the beginning, Dillon and Elise were great characters, I could feel their chemistry. Also liked Elise and Corinne's friendship, the introvert with the extrovert. Dillon was nice, apparently good-looking, respectful and all of that. I mean - everything was there. So why didn't I like it?
First - overdramatic. I guess the book is not that long and there's a lot of drama. The writing is actually good and I wanted to see other books by the author (maybe I still will) but man, it was too much. When it wasn't Dillon's biological father, it was Elise who freaked out every damn second about their relationship. And because it wasn't enough, her best friend, Corinne, suddenly dies. Just like that. So yeah, you want to keep the readers hooked but... you don't necessarily have to kill characters to do so. Especially when it's a college romance. That's why I decided to read this book in the first place.
We didn't get to see much of the other characters besides the h and the H. We had a glimpse of Dillon's roommates but not much. I admit that when I read books, I actually like it when the h and/or the H have other relationships outside the main love story (close sister/brother, kid(s), close friend(s), parent(s), whatever), and it wasn't really the case here. Like yeah, they had friends and parents and all but they didn't really mattered. The only person who really mattered was Corinne and she freaking dies. Still pissed about that tbh.
Look - overall, the story itself wasn't bad. The beginning was cute and nice enough and the characters weren't that annoying... except Elise. The writing was good and it could have been a very good back (just so you know - when I started this book, I honestly thought I would give it a 4 stars out of 5 until the overdramatic parts happened). Maybe it wasn't just for me, idk.

It was a struggle to finish this...I wasn't very captivated by the storyline. There was a lot of attention put on the side characters than the hero and heroine as a couple. Dillion and Elise both came off bland and I just couldn't connect with them.
There were a couple of twists that occurred near the end that were only used as a shock factor. The events did NOT contribute anything meaningful to the storyline and it felt RUSHED and BRUSHED under the rug.
Twist 1: at ~85% mark This was so random... It looks like only purpose was to be an obstacle in Dillion and Elise's relationship.
Twist 2: at ~90% mark After this unfortunate event occurred, it was enough to pull the hero and heroine's heads out of their butts and confess their love for each other. Why did this touching moment of theirs have to be a result of an overdramatic twist?
I was more interested in Mackenzie's POV chapter (setting up book #2) than Dillion and Elise's story.

Dillon Connolly didn’t have an easy life, but now he was at College and living with roommates that has become good friends and now he feels like his life is finally looking up. And he has a plan, he knows what he wants to do with his life and he will prove it to his brothers.
Elise Hoover was quiet and maybe a bit of an introvert and if it weren’t for her friend and roommate she would never have gone to a party, never even have the courage to kiss the guy she has been thinking far to much about the last few weeks.
What started as a one night stand turned into so much more. Both Dillon and Elise couldn’t walk away after the one night… But it seemed like Dillon’s past was threatening his future happiness with the girl who has become to mean so much more him than a One Night Stand ☹
This author’s books always reads like a good love story, but when you start reading there is so much more happening and there is always a hint of suspense thrown into the story that I freaking love. When I started this book I thought it would be another college romance, but both these characters made me fall I love with them. Dillon seemed like he was getting his life on track and boom it seemed to fall apart, Elise had to deal with a tragedy that seemed like she wouldn’t get over.
When they meet you definitely got the chemistry between these two from that first kiss and as there relationship grew you just couldn’t help wanting them to have their happily ever after, cause they both deserved it so much. Love, drama, tragedy, heartbreak is what you can look forward to in this story 😊 And not to forget Dillon’s other roommates were definitely a treat to get to know and I cant wait to read their stories. I can’t wait to read Pacey’s story ♥ 😊

This kind of reminded me of Elle Kennedy's Elle Kennedy Off-Campus and Briar U series.
What was supposed to be a one night stand turned into something more. Dillon (who's related to the Montgomery's in some kind of way) and Elise meet and hook up. The next day and then the next, and then they become something more. Her parents need a good kick in the behind. His Dad is creeping around causing trouble. Then Ms. Ryan gets on my poop list. Elise backs away, but in the end true love wins out.
I was a little confused at times because I hadn't read his brother's books or any of the Montgomery ones (although I do have a lot of them already on my kindle....someday).

I really enjoyed this contemporary romance. I haven't read Dillion's brothers' books yet but after reading about them interacting with Dillion and how they were such a big part of his life those books are definitely on the list now. I enjoyed that though the characters were in college they seemed like real college kids. They dealt with exams and studying and the main concern of the main characters was how they would balance it all. And that is really what any of us tried to do in college. Though this book was mostly light-hearted and sweet, Dillion did have a past that came back to haunt him, and sadly there was a tragic end for one of the characters that really brought everyone together. And brought me to tears. However, after reading the epilogue I really want the next book now so I hope it comes out soon! I also want more of Dillion and Elise but I guess I'll have to settle for the roommates.

Holy crap... what a start to a new and utterly brilliant series.
Carrie always knows how to pull at the heart strings but with this book she truly out did herself. I cannot wait for the next book in the series. Seriously, after that ending, I need the next one now, this instant. And I know im not the only one.

Struggled with this one. The main characters weren’t very interesting and I couldn’t connect with them. Then there was just too much side drama that didn’t fit the storyline.

Dillon Connolly hasn’t had an easy life, but now that he has found a place with his brothers, things are looking up and he is working to feel like he deserves his place in the family. Moving into a house with other college students is the first step he is taking to stand on his own (even if his brothers and their partners are still nearby). He has a vision for what he wants to do after college, but is still working through the details in his head before he shares openly with his family.
Elise Hoover is quiet and reserved. If it weren’t for her best friend and roommate, she wouldn’t have been at the party that night, nor would she have worked up the courage to ask Dillon for one kiss, and then one night.
I loved these two. This story started out as a one-night stand with potential and turned into so much more. It’s been a few years since I was in college, but it sent me right back to those days of juggling work, school, and relationships. I loved watching the guys in Dillon’s house feel each other out as they went from strangers to roommates. As Dillon and Elise build their friendship from their one night, they also face the weight of so much around them. I was not expecting the side aspects of the story to pull so strongly at my emotions, and found myself invested in more than just the direct story of Elise and Dillon.
This is the first novel from the On My Own series, a spin off from one of Carrie Ann Ryan’s other series. I’ve read most of that other series and loved the differences in this one. This is solidly a New Adult story, with the college setting and challenges, but also pulls in threads from the adult series that she has already established. Though the angst level is higher because of the age and inexperience of the characters, it absolutely fit what they were going through and their personalities. It also helped that some of the drama led to the characters going through arcs that left them more confident in themselves and finding healing they wouldn’t have otherwise found.
I am looking forward to more from this group of friends. Though the guys haven’t known each other long, and they are all reeling from a loss, I can’t wait to learn more about their backstories and what brought them each to this place.

Dillon Connolly hasn’t had an easy life, but now that he has found a place with his brothers, things are looking up and he is working to feel like he deserves his place in the family. Moving into a house with other college students is the first step he is taking to stand on his own (even if his brothers and their partners are still nearby). He has a vision for what he wants to do after college, but is still working through the details in his head before he shares openly with his family.
Elise Hoover is quiet and reserved. If it weren’t for her best friend and roommate, she wouldn’t have been at the party that night, nor would she have worked up the courage to ask Dillon for one kiss, and then one night.
I loved these two. This story started out as a one-night stand with potential and turned into so much more. It’s been a few years since I was in college, but it sent me right back to those days of juggling work, school, and relationships. I loved watching the guys in Dillon’s house feel each other out as they went from strangers to roommates. As Dillon and Elise build their friendship from their one night, they also face the weight of so much around them. I was not expecting the side aspects of the story to pull so strongly at my emotions, and found myself invested in more than just the direct story of Elise and Dillon.
This is the first novel from the On My Own series, a spin off from one of Carrie Ann Ryan’s other series. I’ve read most of that other series and loved the differences in this one. Dillon and Elise were meant to be a one-night stand. That is it… one night.
Dillon and Elise have the chemistry. They also sincerely like each other. Their connection was more than physical. You can feel their connection as both dealing with some major issues in their individual lives and trying to find time for each other and dating.
I liked that there was so many more layers to this story. More than I was expecting, and I went through a wide range of emotions while reading this story. There might have been some kindle throwing moments.
Overall it is a strong story with a very emotional climax in it. However, there were some pacing issues, early on. My One Night is a NA/YA story that is suited to those who enjoy reading about young love and being on the cusp of adulthood. It has all the usual things you expect to find in NA, angst and drama, along with a good dose of friendship and romance. This story is a pretty accurate portrayal of college life, the parties, juggling school and working, trying to have a social/love life. It was also nice to see that consent was such a huge part of the story as well. 4.5 Stars for My One Night ( On My Own #1)
What a great start to a new series from Carrie Ann Ryan and this is Dillion Connolly and and Elise Hoover’s story.
It was only meant to be one night but the chemistry this couple share always meant one night would never be enough, could it be they have found their soul mate.....
Sometimes it takes a life changing event to see what’s in front of your eyes, sometimes we don’t know what we have until we lose it and when Dillion’s past comes back to haunt him and Elise suffers a loss their story becomes an emotional read. This is a emotional, at times heartbreaking story, it’s a journey that’s full of bumps in the road but it’s also a beautifully written romance that proves if you are determined to perverse you will find true love and happiness. This book has it the feels and I was captivated from the first chapter, I was drawn into this story by the layers and depth of Dillion and Elise, I didn’t want t put their story down until I knew they had found the HEA they both deserved.
This is a great start to the new series and I highly recommend My One Night.

My One Night by Carrie Ann Ryan is the first book in the new On My Own series and I am here for it! An emotional, touching and angst-filled story, I just loved Dillon and Elise so much. Dillon has been through so much and is ready to reach his goals. But sometimes the past comes back when you least expect it. Elise is all about school, but after one night with Dillon, can they walk away? I absolutely devoured this book. Dillon and Elise shared such a strong connection and steamy chemistry, but things never go as you want them.
My One Night by Carrie Ann Ryan was heartwarming, heartbreaking and absolutely captivating. Stories like this are why this author has become a one-click author for me! I am so excited to see what comes next in the series!

Book one My One Night in new spin off from Fractured Connection series by Carrie Ann Ryan.
This book is about the youngest Connelly Dillon. He’s gone to Denver University he’s moved in with four other lad and meet the most beautiful woman he’s ever met.
Elise is trying to live a independent life from her controlling parents but after meeting Dillon she tries to balance university, friends and Dillon.
Absolutely loved this new spin off series. I wasn’t sure I’d love Dillon’s story as much because it’s base around 20 year olds but I’m completely invested in Dillon university friends lives with especially Pacey the cute Brooding British which Tor Thom does a great job and the amazing Emma Wilder.
Carrie Ann Ryan does such a fantastic job getting people to be completely invested in characters lives and make you love them laugh and cry through these books.

This book was ok but definitely not up to par for other series she’s written.
We start this series off with Dillon and Elise’s love story which starts with a kiss on a dare that turns into a one night stand and then more.
This book just had too many holes, too much needed more fleshing out. Maybe if it had been 100 pages longer this could have fixed that. I did like Elise and Dillon but didn’t connect with them. We get buts and pieces of their backstories but never fully explained which leaves you feeling slightly confused and thrown off with other comments in the book. For Dillon, if his brother have books maybe that would explain it. In which case there should be a read this before that these aren’t standalones.
I still love this author though and will read more. I think maybe this book just wasn’t for me. I am however very interested in MacKenzie and Pacey’s story next.

I have been waiting for Dillon’s book for what seems like forever. He first shows up in the Fractured Connections series and makes a big impression. In this story he feels like a burden to his family, so he decides to make his own way by moving to the campus so he can attend college and help with the family business. While there he moves in to a house with four young men each struggling with their own problems. At one of their house parties, he is propositioned by the pretty Elise to have a one night stand. Elise has a lot of pressure on her from her parents. She wants to let go and Dillon is the perfect person. The problem is that neither can leave it at just one night. As they grow closer, there are issues lurking that threaten what they are building. I absolutely loved Dillon and Elise. Everything about them, even their insecurities, are endearing. Loved seeing the Connelly brothers and how their lives are going. Looking forward to reading about the other roommates.

I really enjoyed Elisa and Dillon's story. Who knew a dare would end in love? Not that it was that easy and both Elisa and Dillon, each in their own way, had to fight for their HEA. Both Dillon and Elise are forging their way through college and life on their won merit and in a sense this is also a coming of age story as they navigate growing up and what they want out of life. Their love always felt easy because their souls recognized each other. I cannot wait to read the rest of the On My Own stories.

And although they both agree that it will be just a one night stand, their attraction is strong and they like spending time together.
I liked the book. It's a sweet story about finding love but also pain, struggling with your parents' expectations and just moving on.
I need to read the next one in this series. The sneak peak was epic.

It was treat to learn more about Dillon's past. Also it was great to see him meeting new people and knowing that he could count on them and vice versa.

I have been anxiously waiting for Dillon’s story. And it did not disappoint. The boy who held all the answers to his brothers romance problems had none for himself lol. There was no romance novel insight for Dillon. College, roommates, family, parties, a dare...what could possibly happen? A one night stand that turns both Dillon and Elise a little off course. I don’t want to say much more as I feel I will spoil the story. Dillon will always be one of my favorites.

This wasn't what I was expecting from this author when I started this book. It was good but it could have been better in my opinion. There were so many areas that could have been fleshed out. I did like the characters of Elise and Million and wished that the story was longer because it seemed to read pretty fast.

I have had a soft spot for Dillon from his introduction in Fractured Connections. He is that guy who you just have to root for. When he met Elise and the chemistry was undeniable, I just knew they had what it took. This story was heart wrenching for so many reasons. Both Elise and Dillon are so unsure of themselves and the emotions that they are feeling with one another. Once they decide that they are pieces of a puzzle to each other, they get hit by a event that shakes them to the core and once again has Elise questioning everything and everyone. This is a must read and you will love Dillon and Elise, along with getting updates on the other Connolly's.

Like the first book I read by Ryan, I was excited to read it because the book description was interesting. There are positive aspects to the novel, but I couldn’t enjoy it as much as I wanted. Unfortunately, I don’t think I click very well with Ryan’s writing style, which is more a preference on my part.
The aspect I enjoyed the most was the strength of familial bonds, at least for Dillon’s family. The love the brothers had for one another was apparent and they took care of each other–Dillon never had to go it alone even if he felt like he needed to. It was nice to see he had a strong support system. Elise’s parents, on the other hand, were overbearing. I didn’t care for them very much about them when I was introduced to them. Families can be complicated, and we see just how much as the story moves forward.
