They meet at school, but not as friends. He is linebacker for the school team and his mates play as well, but one of them is especially nasty. Hope doesn't have much of a home life, controlling and overbearing father and a mother who disappeared. To add in bullying the only thing that lifts her is her love of the game. This was slightly angsty, had issues of abuse and bullying and some heartbreak. It is gripping and I loved how both characters moved on and did well before meeting up again. We didn't get how Hope managed university or if she did end up with a family member who helped her, but we do know she worked hard to get her degree and career. Second chance romance yes in some ways but it was a very fledgling one the first time. Interesting and mostly based around the characters there are snippets of games but it isnt the main focus. Well written and a steady pace, it hooked me straight in and held my attention, I'm hoping this is the first of a series as I'd love books on some of the other team players. Exciting and fresh story.

A second chance romance by T.L. Wainwright. Hope and Marshall haven't had an easy life, both coming at life from different angles, but away from school in their current careers their paths cross, sparks fly, and love blossoms. If you like contemporary and sports romance then this is one for you.

This book is amazing with plenty of steam and a great story.
I don't know much about sports psychology and next to nothing about American football, but it's obvious to me that the author has done her research on both.
The story flows easily and grips you right from the start. Hope has experienced violence at the hands of her father and bullying at high school. So her trust in Vance Marshall is minimal when he offers to help her. She accepts, but then runs out on him.
What she doesn't realise is that her actions hit home hard with his own personal experience. I won't say more as I don't want to spoil the story.
Fast forward to years later when Hope comes to work for the Montana Longhorns as a sports psychologist, which also happens to be the club where Mars is their star Linebacker. Their initial meeting is not a good one. But little by little, they give in to their attraction for one another and Hope finally gets to the root of Mars's problems.
Absolutely loved this story and sincerely hope there are more to come. Would love Lucy to have her own story!

Ok so TL Wainwright is one of my favourite authors.. when she brought out those MC guys last I didn't think she could give me anything more than that... then she releases a Sports Romance and I instantly know I need to read it... its not just a sports read though, it's a second chance romance too!! All my favs rolled into one fab story!
And can we mention that cover!!!! Holy smokes it gives me all the feels!!! YUM!
So Hope and Marshall meet at school but it's definitely not all sunshine and rainbows for this pair.. each day Hope is struggling to get through with the FUBs making it harder and harder for her to get by... but one major event changes everything for them both.
I love these characters separately but put them together and they get even better!
They are couple dreams!
Full of angst.. emotions and TLs witty humour/ one liners this story has all you could ever want or need!
Would highly recommend this story to everyone.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Linebacker. Hooked from start to finish I found that this story brought out many different emotions. There are moments that will hurt your heart, and some which will have you laughing out loud. Whatever the scene in this narrative, I know you will be feeling for Vance and Hope.
It is my first time reading a sports romance penned by this author and I sincerely hope that she will write more. I’m not too familiar with the American football nor Hope’s chosen career path as a sports psychologist, but appeared to me that the author had done much research to create a realistic and intriguing story.
I loved that my feelings towards a certain character changed as the story unfolded. The message that I take with me from this narrative is that sometimes all is not as it seems.
I highly recommend this book to you to read.

I Ioved this story from TL. It's a second chance sports romance and sucks you in right from the very beginning. This story starts off with the main characters in high school and then it fast forwards to a few years later where they end up meeting again and having to work together. TL delivers plenty story, plenty steam and plenty laughs with this book in only the way that she can. There are some cracking one liners! I loved these two as a couple. It certainly wasn't an easy ride to get their HEA!

Five huge stars
Oh my word. After reading the first part in an anthology I was so excited when the full story was coming and it did not disappoint. Hope and Mars were everything and more loved their story and Lucy as a secondary character was great too.

This story was so good it had it all very quick and easy read from T L Wainwright Thi was the story of Hope & Vance.These two characters had chemistry from the start and kept me hooked, great read.

Hope palmer has lived with her abusive father and could not wait till the day she could get away. I loved her character and she certainly new how to get her own back with the schools football team it made me laugh.
Everything changed when she got caught by her father at the high school dance and was not expecting Vance marshall to protect her from her father, he helped her get away and found somewhere for them to stay for the night.
This night also changed the relationship between them once he admitted he has secretly liked her for a while and she also liked him back, but she knew she still had to leave so left while he was sleeping.

Totally enamoured by Hope and Marshall’s story. It had so many feels and the pacing was spot-on. Second-chance Romance at it’s best, I highly recommend!
