Wow I really hated this. And my review might be harsh. But wow. It only gets two stars because it had the potential to be really fucking good. The plotlines were there. But what in the teenager fever dream was this?

First, let's start with the "pack". I know Angel gets her own book next, but if she's Lucien's pack she should have been with them. Felt weird to leave her out, like she wasn't pack.

The whole part where Dante comes back was fine. Weird and uncomfortable to read, but the plotline was good.

This book had a lot of really uncomfortable immature conversations, but then randomly big words I'd have to google. Like someone went through and just used a thesaurus.

The writing style in general was clunky and uncomfortable.

Next Ember herself. She was supposed to be selectively mute. Which is fine. And she signs when she can't speak. Perfect. But it's kind of ignored. If you're going to use these things in your book, do it justice. It felt like the author just wanted something to make their main character quirky but didn't go deep about it.

Then the whole Dante doesn't want to mix business and pleasure, but took almost no convincing in one conversation to go from NO to oh my god fuck me all of you in like four seconds flat. There was no build up, no tension. It was super uncomfortable.

Then the whole random attack on Roman. It wasn't detailed enough or deep enough to establish a real hold on the story. It felt like a weird side plot, even though it was the main plot? Which had nothing to do with the main character? That was uncomfortable.

Ione walking in like King shit of the castle. Jesus. And her too, going from being Alpha Cunt to oh yeah omega hugger in four seconds flat was fucking random! And like this huge scary woman we spent a good chunk making the reader fear her for her to not even do anything bad because she was stopped from spanking the dad. And then she changed her mind. And asides from being annoyed they left her pack she was fine? Like wtf. She could have been a whole book by herself. Really made Embers story a series.

Then the manager behind the Roman shit? Like obviously. And he just calls it off like oh yeah lol. What is with this book building up these big scary antagonists and then going lol nvm I was just in a silly goofy mood.

And I think that sums up what made this book so terrible. I can forgive bad writing, uncomfortable conversations, and even really bad smut (I'm not going to even get in on HOW TERRIBLE the smut was) but this entire book was a wasted opportunity.

You had solid points, the Institute, the Centre, Ione, Roman's threats, Dante giving in to loving Ember and her pack. Really good points that could have been a solid longer standalone or even a duet at the least. But instead we get awful writing, mismanaged plots, and uncomfortable characters. It's boring. The author seems like this was either a draft for a much better book we'll never get, bored of her own plot and characters and was just fulfilling some requirement to just finish this, or is an angsty and uncomfortable and did this on purpose.

Please don't waste your time. The entire book can be summed as: they all get who they love, any problems are just zapped to be not problems, and they have really shitty sex.

Wow. I'm just real glad this on Kindle Unlimited or I'd have been fucking pissed I'd pay for this. This needs some mad editing. Or a ghost writer. Wow. I'm sorry but I fucking hated this. It's only keeping a star because I didn't DNF and it has so much potential.

Would be an ok start for a book

The overall story of this book was ok/good, however the execution made me feel like maybe the author was pressured by a release deadline to publish before this was really hashed out.

"Disjointed" is the best way I can describe this story. The characters will be feeling one way, then suddenly feeling another without any description or thought process to explain why their feelings changed. The FMC in particular was like this.

I'm also left confused as to how Ember could have been kept in captivity for 3+ years and basically abused for the duration, yet she doesn't seem to be affected by it in any way. It may as well have never even happened.

My 2 star rating is on the Goodreads scale. It was ok.

Well...that could have been better

I liked the characters, and the story had potential....but the writing was not the best. It felt like that story was not explored fully, and there were some plot holes. However, I will most likely give this author a second chance.

Ember deserved better

This had such potential but ended up being absolutely terrible. Ember is supposed to be the main character but is constantly shoved aside and comforting everyone else. It’s clear that she is no one’s priority in the pack. Lucian is supposedly so in love with her but he bonded with another omega?! Roman is basically the main character of this story and his trauma and needs are put in the forefront of every scenario this pack is in. Lucian claims he kept his virginity for Ember but has clearly been with Roman, so why does he even say it? ( I know virginity shouldn’t be thought of like a “gift” but she thinks its a sign that he really does care) He claims he will spend the rest of their lives making everything up to her but is so wrapped up in Roman he barely even interacts with her. He goes from begging her to understand what happened when he left her to blabbing about how great Roman is. Ember just forgives everyone quickly and constantly like she didn’t go through years of literal torture. It’s like she wasn’t allowed to be mad! Lucian bonded someone else? Fine! Roman created the problem that ended up with her being put in the institute? No big deal! Dante gets so mad that he can’t look at her for something she had nothing to do with? Better go find him and make him feel better! And I don’t want to hear anything about it being because she’s an omega when the whole point of their pack is that they’re all subverting their designations and roles. I haven’t been this mad after reading a book in ages! This was hogwash and Ember deserved better.

Meh

Couldn’t get far into this. After 3 years of horrendous treatment, she just bounces back? Everything just seemed to be ok too quickly and it bothered me. Lucian chose another omega and she’s ok with it? He really was pining for her when he did that. And then they’re all cuddling the morning after she’s there as if they’ve always been like that… it was weird.

Ember's life is very intense in The Center. She has lots of misconceptions to work through once she's auctioned. I thoroughly enjoyed the Marshal Packs story and how issues were settled for Dante and Roman. Looking forward to the next in series.

I would like to start by saying what a huge disappointment this book was. Originally I was so pumped to read this book and it had a very intriguing plot line. The author had very solid points and went in strong with the world building. However, it felt like the author had run out of steam and half-assed the rest of the concepts as they were incomplete or resolved with a flick of a hand. Therefore, when it feels like the story is heading into a difficult point, it's not described efficiently enough that it takes a hold of you and makes you feel invested in the plot.

Dont even get me started on the smut, which was below expectations. When a reader comes upon a book where there are 4 love interests, you're bound to be excited that something good is gonna happen. News flash, it was anything but good.

I was this close to putting this book down but I kept on thinking that its going to get better.

In conclusion, there was a lot of build off toward the plot, the idea of the book was fantastic and it had a lot of potential, unfortunately it was executed poorly. Suffice to say it was not my cup of tea.

This is a book in the Pack Bonds series and is about a rejected omega. Tropes include omegaverse, knotting second chance romanc, two omegas in a pack, a mute FMC, rockstar MMC and why choose. Please see content warnings for adult content, including MF, MM and group spicy scenes.

The Lovely: I loved the dynamics between the various main characters, of which there are a number. One pack has an alpha, beta and two omegas, while another has an alpha and a beta. I loved how they interacted with each other to play to their strengths and explore their weaknesss.

The Mundane: This book just didn’t hit for me on an emotional level. It was described to me as an angsty, emotional story but it felt like we as the reader were instead being told why things were awful did the characters but not really tying that to emotional interactions or impact. So, while I loved the characters and their dynamics. I never really felt invested in the characters on a deep level.

Rating: 3/5 Stars 3/5 spicy flames

This series is structured as a set if interconnected standalones and they can be read independently in any order. I liked this story plot-wise and how it fit into the larger picture of the packs. I would have liked more showing if emotions as I think this would have made the story more impactful.

I love Ember's story. Ember has been marked as a reject, when she is sold by the Omega Institute. The last Alpha she expects to buy her is her first love Lucian. The Alpha who abandond her. He has been looking for her for three years and has alot grovelling to do to win her trust and love. But there is danger for Ember and her new pack. Brilliant read . Read it in one day.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "EMBER & HER MARSHALS" This was certainly a very interesting, intriguing, entertaining, enjoyable read from start to finish.
Ember was a rejected Omgea from the love of her life Lucian being in the Omega Institute she sees first hand the abuse that happens to the Omegas there.
Ember & her Marshals take you on quite the emotional rollercoaster ride full of angst, guilt, love, tension, twists you can't put down.
I definitely recommend to get this amazing well written story so well worth the read following Ember & her Marshals the story has you turning the pages to see where this all takes you, there is so much that happens.
I'm so looking forward to the next book in this series "ANGEL & HER CHAMPIONS" can't come soon enough to see what's going to happen.
AWESOME AWESOME READ!!!!

I loved reading this fascinating story as Ember interacts with her men and has to navigate through many twists and turns before she has a hope of any happy result. This is a well written and entertaining story of the problems associated with being an Omega. This is my honest opinion.

Amazing book!

Rosemary gives us another amazing standalone book in this series. The story of Ember and her marshals is a rollercoaster ride of emotions and events. It takes us from fear, anger and guilt to bliss, love and safety and back again. Beautifully written with complex characters and plot twists that keep you turning pages throughout, this story breaks you down and builds you back up again. I loved reading this book and highly recommend it. Do read the trigger warnings... But don't miss out on this book!!

What is that???🧐

I'm not sure I really understood what happened in this book...😟 I don't speak about the storyline but about the connections between the characters. Everything sounded fake and illogical!
For example, Ember, the FMC, explained that she had been rejected but in fact Lucian didn't reject her, he had to flee in order to save his sister! Then Ember said "I don't trust you but I love you"🙄🙄 Love without trust? Really??? 🤦🏻‍♀️
The characters didn't know each others but bonded without giving much thought to it🙄 And now Omegas can bond?
And the end...God...🙄🤦🏻‍♀️ The scene with Dante's mother is so lame...🙄🤦🏻‍♀️
This book doesn't make sense... Not a big loss if you don't read it🤷🏻‍♀️

There are few authors who write their books the way I want to read them: From the heart. Rosemary A. Johns is one of those authors. It doesn't matter what kind of book she writes, what kind of romance she writes, what kind of world she writes, I fall in love with it. The first book in this series was amazing. I loved the perfect mix of romance, politics and danger. I was therefore really looking forward to this second book and I was incredibly happy that I got an arc.

I absolutely loved this book. I especially loved how the author built the relationships between the characters. This book had a little bit of everything. Friends to lovers. Rivals to lovers. Love at first sight. I especially loved the connection between the two omegas in this book. The way they communicated and cared about each other was so beautiful and pure and I loved how they were true fighters, protecting everything they love.

Just like the first book this book also contains a little bit of danger and a little bit of politics. And I love how the problem eventually is solved by being smart and intelligent and using the talents all the people in the pack have. It's not a big and epic fight. There's not a lot of violence. These people just know the law and fight with everything they have. And there was this awesome moment during the finale that made everything even better.

I also really admire how the author gives all these characters depth and personality. The book isn't even that long and yet it feels like these characters became my friends, or maybe even more, while reading their story. Even though some characters don't get as much pagetime as others, they're all real. They have layers. They are complicated. And that does mean they mess up sometimes. It mostly means that it's easy to root for them.

I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Ember is a reject omega being held captive as a demonstration omega in the Omega Institute for the past 3 years. Despite her situation she has become a leader among her friends and formed an "omega pack". Through a chance meeting she connects with a rebellious alpha & that ends up getting her sent off to auction which lands her in the hands of the alpha and former childhood sweetheart that abandoned her.

One of the things that has made me an instant fan of this writer is representation. It really matters and I love that it is the case with this book as well. So many people deal with different types of speech impediments and I've read hundreds of books, but I can count on one hand the amount of books I have read that has had a main character that has one. Ember was amazing in this book and I loved her protective nature & how even though she saw herself as broken she still burned and the reader could see her light before she began to recognize it for what it was. This book was about overcoming and everyone conquering their biggest fears and coming together as a family. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and cannot see what the author has in store for us in the next book of this series.

Ember grew up around Lucien and Rebel; they promised one another they would bond. When the brother and sister dynamic disappear, they send Ember to the Institute as a Rejected Omega. She ended up being used as a display to help train alphas’ who do not follow protocol. After three years, her and two other Omegas’ meet a protective alpha, Damien. In the end, it gets her sold at auction. When it is Lucien who buys her, she will have a hard time forgiving him for his abandonment. Then, she meets his other Omega. Roman~ Next, Damien and his Beta, Joseph, come to them to protect them from the threats against Roman by his old pack. With so much money on the line, their underground Omega rescue operation, and forming a new pack…what will happen? Ghosts exist in Dante’s previous life and he chooses not to bond with others besides Joseph. What are those ghosts? They all want two alphas’ but will it happen? What about the Head Alpha? Will she wreck the newly formed pack? Will she send them to the Institute? Another Brilliant Rebel novel in the world of Omegas, Betas, and Alphas!

It was great to revisit the Omega Society, and especially the Omega resistance group! I love this idea of reform and change in alpha society, where omegas are treated equally or at least, not being abused.
I enjoyed getting to know Dante and Joseph - a great dynamic there - and how they fit in so well with the others. They are truly all so adorable! Poor Ember though, but she is strong! It was cool how her past was so neatly tied in with her present. And poor Roman! Interesting developments along the way, that’s for sure. This is a happy, feel-good story, with a nice Christmas twist right there at the end. Talking about, wowza, Lucien wrapped up with a bow (a bow!!) yeah, that was hot 🔥🤭
I’m looking forward to seeing how things will develop in the next story!

What a fabulous second book. I’m loving this series. This book could easily be read as a stand-alone but it’s definitely worth reading both. It follows the omega resistance and Luc getting his long missing omega. Luv really is a different kind of alpha and it’s a refreshing change for all the characters involved as they have all experienced the normal abhorrent alphas throughout their lives. I love the way Dante turns up and assumed Luc is the normal Alpha only to find out how different he really is. All throughout this Ember is drawn to Dante but Luc is her childhood love and alpha they just didn’t bond. There are many more interesting relationships to explore through the book too, all very well written and enjoyable. Excellent story plot to keep you riveted. Can’t wait to see what happens next in this world.

""For all Omegas who are unable to raise your voice: You are still heard."

A striking painting hangs on the far wall, and for a moment, I can’t look away from it. It’s of an empty cage. It calls to something deep inside me. There’s no bird caught behind those bars.

⁷Another omegaverse for the win. This one was a tad bit different when it came to Omegas, Alphas, and the Betas. For one if an Omega has some sort of issue with them or "rebel" stance they are marked with a reject bracelet. For Ember she was considered defective because she sometimes becomes mute based off anxiety. This wasn't the only bad thing that happens either. She then becomes a 'demonstration' omega which is for 'bad' alphas to go into a course and she is demonstrated on for the bad alphas.

After a series of another unfortunate events Ember is back with her childhood Alpha along with another Omega, Alpha, and Beta. Threats become real to Ember's other Omega and sparks fly with the new Alpha and Beta. Can this new pack come together and over come the threats and can they help with the Omega Resistance? Find out in this new next installment standalone. Previous book doesn't need to be read in order to enjoy this book.

Mild spoilers and mentions of trauma (imprisonment, physical abuse).

This book was a train wreck; I couldn’t look away. No joke, it was like one of my classmates who barely passed 8th grade English wrote it. The author just threw in terrible writing and all the vocabulary words they didn’t actually learn to use properly in a sentence. Things are out of order in a bad way: storyline and sentences. The book doesn’t stay in one POV when it’s supposedly one POV, nor in one tense.

There are a lot of things this story needed: better planning, a better editor, and for the author to stop relying on their many crutches (the color violet, the color sky-blue, characters stuttering for emphasis, flashbacks instead of writing an actual traumatized person, italicizing the one sound word they like to use, and the same fifteen words for describing sex scenes).

Moreover, if you’re going to set a story in the US, don’t be lazy and inject it full of British things. If it’s apart of your story for the US to be more like England, then that needs to be explained, and how/why. Otherwise, a person will assume it’s supposed to be like modern-day USA or modern-day England based on the grammar used. There’s a lot of these instances that push a person right out of a story. In general, Americans don’t say “wank fantasy”, it’s just a fantasy. We don’t say “nubs” when we mean nipples; nubs are on people with missing limbs (this was really quite jarring in both the first and second book’s spicy scenes). We don’t say “that’s you told.”

Furthermore, it’s interspersed throughout this book that “it’s all about consent” but there’s nothing to imply that there’s consent for the FMC to be involved in a scene with others. She’s just there, and her long lost best friend and alpha tells her to do something. There doesn’t seem to be any actual feeling or enthusiasm on her part.

Worse still, the catchphrases used are so cringy and so are all the little verses of poetry and song interspersed throughout. If you’re going to add your own stuff in like that, then you really have to sell the story. This story isn’t good enough for me to care enough about the characters and their cause to not make fun of their catchphrases or see any meaning in it. Plus, you used the same word/words for their band label- can you say repetitive? It’s just too cheesy, and an editor seriously needs to take a second look at this book, and then a third, and then a fourth look.

Moreover, the FMC has been treated like an object for three years and living in the sparsest conditions without even shoes, but somehow the entire focus is only on the male omega’s trauma, never hers. The author compares traumas, and that’s just something you can’t do; it’s unhealthy. The time the younger alpha got upset at the FMC for upsetting the male omega who has also been traumatized- after they’ve literally just met again after years of being apart- is not progressive and really sells the idea that the alpha holds the male omega in more esteem. They don’t treat her like she’s been through anything (and it’s mostly because the author wrote her like she’s 100% okay even though she has flashbacks.)

Plus, ineffectual descriptions and sensory words make it hard to follow this story at all. Do the alphas have fangs? Because you certainly wrote they did, with no explanation. If the FMC has “squirmy insides” as an adult does that mean she’s nervous? I couldn’t tell, since she’s speaking, but she can’t speak when she’s nervous. What is “mia casa”? I’m begging for an editor, at this point.

Even more, there are things that just don’t make sense on any level. They’re running from trained assassins in an ostentatious sky blue limo, and they say it’s fine because it’s bullet proof and unexpected of them. Yet, they’re traveling in the mountains. The Blue Ridge Mountains, at that. And even though the author likes to say they give off a blue haze when you’re driving through the trees, they don’t. The Blue Ridge Mountains are only blue from a distance. And then, the characters get somewhere safe, but they leave the doors open all the time with no explanations about security, despite this being a plot point later in the book. At that point, there was no mention of anyone but the five of them being in what’s described as a castle to defend it. Plus, one of the characters is just randomly a Duke, with no explanation as to why or how that fits into present-day society.

The timeline is just thoroughly messed up, and continuity even more so. Does Joseph know who Leo is or not? One chapter after asking who he is, he mentions knowing of him for month, which he learned from another character. But if he’s really as close with the Knight pack as he says he is, then he would’ve already known of him. This is seriously the stupidest thing to be splitting hairs over, but it’s mentioned so much that it’s hugely annoying.

And the timeline is still messed up in other ways because apparently this book happened over the course of a year. Two of the characters met at Christmas but at the end of the book, they’re celebrating Christmas. It doesn’t make any sense, since the FMC was supposedly released a week after Christmas.

Finally, the ending didn’t tie everything up. Part of the trauma mentioned in the book is the beating one of the alphas was put through by his own father and Head Alpha. So, are they not in danger as a Marshal pack from his father? That’s literally part of the story, but it wasn’t even mentioned or resolved in any way.

I forced myself to finish this one, and I honestly only did it for Dante and Joseph. I didn’t want to read anymore about Lucian, or the FMC, or even Roman. It was just that bad.

My heart genuinely went out to Ember (FMC) in this book. She had so many difficult events happen to her in her life that had lead her to be rejected at the Omega Institute. Not a place with any love given to Omega's in their care. Only for her life to be altered when a new alpha - Dante, an Alpha from her past - Lucian, a kind-hearted Omega - Roman and a cheeky Beta - Joseph. It was a great dynamic Ember had with the guys i thought. They'd all had hard childhoods but the seemed to have found comfort & a family together. This was a good addition to the Pack Bond series and im looking forward to getting my hands on more books in this series. This was so good!!!

After reading Rebel & her Knights, I was so excited that we'd get more books in the same world. I love an interconnected world with standalone stories/characters. Rosemary did not disappoint with Ember & her Marshals! There is a little bit of everything, love at first sight, friends to lovers, and enemies to lovers (ish). There is also plenty going on with the politics and the awful things that happen to Omegas, and we see that since Ember is a rejected omega. Plus, if you like two omegas together, you'll get that in this book, I was excited about this aspect!

The one thing that I love about Rosemary's writing is that they're all mature adults. As silly as that may sound, it's 100% true, with all of the issues that they go through, it's not all about being right or stubborn. The way they work through their issues and figure out how to get through the problems that the book brings forward.

All of these amazing characters have so much depth, and you actually care about them. I equally loved this book as much as I did book 1, and I can't wait for the next book! If you like omegaverse, and want a different twist, this book and the first one are perfect!

I never know what to expect in an ABO world. The Alpha-Omega relationship can be so bad or soooo good. This book has both, but in a good way. I adore Ember and her pack. She's been abused and used, and her pack of men are all broken in their own ways, but they all fit together so wonderfully! If you love the ABO dynamics, poly loving, tension and love overcoming all the bad around you - this is the book for you! I loved getting Lucien's story, after Rebel's in the last book, and I can't wait to see what Angel get up to in the next book. I can't get enough of this series!

Book Review

Yes, this book was a fabulous read, just like I expwcted! The story confinu from the first book, and it's a good story!! They are still fighting g for Omega rights, and Ember and her Marshals are in the thick of it!! The story flows beautifuuly, and there's a lot going on! Never is such a strong Omega, but is not very confident of her own happy ending. Until she meets her first love Lucian! Things start to happen between them quickly!! Ladies you need to read this nook/series!!!

I am in love with this series and the universe. Ember is a rejected omega, who has been abandoned time and again.
When she gets back to her first love, who rejected her, she has a whole lot to learn about him and his current pack.
This is a fast-paced book. It has a lot of love, caring, and action.
I loved the unusual grouping and how they interact was refreshing. I loved it! Once again I found myself wishing I could be a pampered omega LOL
I recommend this to anyone who is remotely fascinated by the omegaverse genre. I loved this and I’m looking so much forward to Angel’s book next.

I really enjoyed this second book in the same omegaverse! Here we get to see Roman thr Rockstar again and Lucian, Rebel's brother. Ember is so beautiful and kind but still labeled as a reject because of selective mutism. She has a lot to overcome, but with her best friend and first love's help and the attentions of another Alpha sheriff and his Beta deputy, she will come out of her shell. And the secret omega resistance should benefit from all the bonds that are untraditional to make. Can't wait for Angel's story next!

I didn't take long for me to become fully invest in Ember's story. She has a pretty intense past especially in the Institute. There is so much heart and emotion when Ember and her pack get together. I loved getting to know all of Ember's men and how distinct they are from each other. This is the second book in the Pack Bonds series and can be read and enjoyed as a standalone; however, there is some overlapping of world building from the previous book that you would miss out on. I really hope that we get to see/read about the rest of Ember's Omega pack from the Omega Institute.
