He is a gifted communicator and teacher who has the ability to communicate to people from all walks of life. I appreciated the connection between death and loss in other areas. while they are not equivalent, there are many parallels that can help to process the trauma of loss, which too often does not receive our proper reflection. This causes us to miss a lot of what God may be doing in our lives. Our theological boxes have no compartment for loss. It is refreshing to read a theological book that addresses the topic in a practical way.

This book was very encouraging, uplifting and soothing. It speaks so clearly about the losses that we experience in life; losing your job, relational losses, losing a loved one, etc. It refers to some of life experiences as little deaths. It speaks about the love of God, joy, peace, grieving, pain, suffering, endurance, never quitting and so much more. Its down to earth and relates so well with our journeys in life. It related so beautifully with some of my losses and journeys in life I've experienced. I also loved the questions it ask you at the end of some of the chapters. Some of the questions made me think and actually have helped in my healing and I can actually let God turn my endings into beginnings. A blessing to read, to God be the praise and glory.

This book is remarkably filled with lessons, short sermons, and realistic Bible scriptures. To have had all that in one book amazing! I was blessed and spiritually corrected all at the same time

This was so lovely. Encouraging without being preachy, relatable without being presumptuous. My only note is that I would have preferred reflection questions at the end of each chapter instead of at the end of each section. I think that would make it easier to sit with and rest in the chapter before moving on.

This is an excellent book on dealing with losses in life—not only by the death of someone dear, but in losses such as relationships, jobs, dreams. Timberlake takes us through the experience of a funeral, and covers each step of the familiar pattern of this event, relating it to any kind of loss in life. I found his viewpoint and his common sense (but often overlooked) methods of dealing with loss,step by step, refreshing and helpful.

Okay *technically* I dnfed this but I got most of the way through and finished the conversation with my family.

Overall I enjoyed the funeral metaphor Tim uses, but felt it went on too long. Near the end it got too repetitive for me without adding in something new; just new stories.

We had wonderful discussions from this book though and would still recommend it to other Christians looking for guidance on moving past endings & disappoints, no matter the scale.
