The Writer #3

Marrying a Writer

Rate this book
I always thought my wedding day would be the happiest day of my life.
I was wrong.
Because it wasn’t my choice. I was forced into an arranged marriage.
Roman Irving Gallagher was my childhood best friend, and I loved him with my whole heart. Then one day, without the slightest explanation, he was my tormentor. My bully.
Now he’s my husband.
But I’m starting to see cracks in his cold façade. The boy I once knew is still in there somewhere, trapped behind the walls Roman has built around his heart.
And I’m going to break down those walls, brick by brick.
Because even though my wedding wasn’t what I wanted, there’s no reason our marriage can’t be exactly what we both need.
After all, we’re in this together.
For better or worse…

Marrying a Writer, book 3 in The Writer series, is an arranged marriage story, steamy and emotional contemporary romance that can be read as a standalone. It tells the story about an obsessed boy and the girl of his dreams, and how soulmates will always find their way to one another.

Marrying a Writer is book 3 of the Writer series by Shani Haim. It is a standalone contemporary romance, told from both points of view with a happy ending.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
✔️ arranged marriage
✔️ childhood best friends to enemies to lovers
✔️ billionaire
✔️ second chance

Justine and Roman have loved each other since they were born. They were best friends, he swore to protect her and then life happen. What once was a beautiful friendship turned into years of angst, hate and avoidance and ultimately an ugly forced association through marriage. Can they find a way to salvage it?

Shani Haim keeps outdoing herself with each book. Marrying a Writer is her most swoony, sweet and sexy story yet! I loved the emotional, heart wrenching and heartwarming journey Tina and Ro went on.

Justine is a lovely, giving soul. She’s selfless and funny and perfect for the stoic Roman who was too focused on protecting her and perhaps should’ve stopped to talk to her.

Of course, Justine wasn’t without fault, they both could have done better in the communication department. Yet the would haves, should haves, and could haves couldn’t compare to the power of their love.

“Forever yours, even if you aren’t mine.”

Sigh... the letters, the references to The Princess Bride, the longing, the angst, the sweetness, the SEXYNESS! This story was packed with emotion from start to finish. Oh that epilogue, with the rest of the couples from the series was the perfect cherry on top to finish the series

Well, what can I say, except... Shani Haim done it again.

To be honest, I was the most excited about Roman and Justine's book. At the beginning of the story they were friends, after that they became enemies-to-lovers. I loved that we had dual POV and I was able to know what happened between them years ago. There was quite a lot of angst within the story, mostly coming out of Roman. And I freaking loved it.

I loved Justine character. She was nice, cute, free spirited and she wasn't giving up on her love towards Roman. There was couple of times I wished she answered him properly or put some sense in him 😁, but every time it turned out great. Because even though he was hurt in the past (or at least he thought) he wanted to give himself a second chance in love with Justine.

The love scenes between them were 🔥🔥🔥. I loved them soo much. Every time they were in a room together, not doing anything you can see the sparks and heat.

With a hand on my ♥️ I can definately say that this book is my favourite from the series ♥️♥️♥️.

I read the note from Shani at the end of the book. She said that this was the most difficult book she ever wrote. Even so, this book is awesome and she done a beautiful and brilliant job writing it. All those difficulties paid off in the end.

I received an ARC from Shani Haim and this is my voluntary review.

This book, this couple....... they owned me!! I've been anticipating Roman and Justine's book since the beginning and Shani did not disappoint with this beautiful, angsty read.

“From the moment I saw you and until the moment I close my eyes, I’m always and forever in love with you.”

Justine and Roman have loved each other since they were kids but as young adults, a misunderstanding tears them apart. Roman, still holding animosity towards Justine from their past continuously torments her but also battles with himself and the love he has for her. Because all he's ever wanted was to protect her from the one person that should love her unconditionally. Justine doesn't trust Roman's intentions, from the marriage to the living arrangements but the longer she spends in his world the more she can't fight the love she's always had for him.

“I’d go through our story, the good version of our lives, for an infinity. Nothing can bore or tire me when it involves loving you.”

This story dug its way into my heart and quickly became my favorite of this series. If you haven't picked up The Writer series you're missing out on some amazing couples and their beautiful love stories, so what are you waiting for!!

4.5 STARS

This book is my first by this author and I was so excited to read this because I had heard the best about her! Also, this story had some of my most favorite tropes, the combination and the execution was amazing! Childhood friends to enemies to lovers and arranged marriage?! Sign me up!

So we have Roman and Justine, or as they used to call each other Tina and Ro and the story starts with them hating each other, but having to get married. They have past together, as they used to be best friends, until they weren't.

Chemistry, betrayal, angst, mystery. These are some of the elements of the book that I really loved. The writing was really good, it made me feel so much for them. The spicy scenes were definately well done, the mystery around what had happened and what cards are they holding.

As the book proceeded closer to the truth, the more I dreaded it, because deep inside I knew what was coming and this was the miscommunication trope. I really don't like when something can be solved so easily, but it causes an avalanche for years to come. I wanted to smack some sense into their heads. BUUUUUUUT it still worked and overall I liked how they handled everything at some point onward.

I really want to go back and read the previous books that had her friend's stories, as I met them in this one and I loved them! If you love romance this was such a good one! I definitely recommend it, especially if you love these tropes!

Hands down my favourite book in the series! It wrecked me in the best way. Shani worked her magic and created a beautiful, heart melting story that will stay with me forever.
Roman and Justine are childhood friends, inseparable and secretly in love with each other. They are meant to be together, but nothing in life is simple, and things can take a 180 turn in a blink of an eye. Best friends become enemies, and what's supposed to be a beautiful life together becomes a torment. Or so it seems!?
This story was a rollercoaster of emotions, and i loved every word.

What to expect:
•friends to enemies to lovers
•soulmates
•arranged marriage
•tortured hero
•stubborn and fiery heroine
•the princess bride references
•lots of angst
•all the steam

I highly recommend this book!

The blurb is wonderful, the moment I read it I wanted to read the book. And then I read the first chapter and it was so sweet and full of promises but suddenly a gap came of freaking thirteen years, I mean how can a sweet simple thing spiral out of hand. That’s called Life- you can’t predict a thing, you can only wish. Now I’m more curious to read further to know what when and why. Heartbreak is inevitable but the good thing is we know it’s a HEA.

“Forever yours, even if you aren’t mine.” - this line broke me. I love Justine from the bottom of my heart. She’s so pure and so selfless, she is hilarious, and while at the scene gala, she was outstanding. Justine’s character is so genuine, I adore her. Shani has written her brilliantly, the emotions are very well felt with every line I read. Roman was also wow, he’s a doting character but takes a lot of hard decisions and they went sideways always. I feel for both of them. I devoured the story like I need oxygen to breathe. The letters in the story are nail biting and gives a lot of emotional insight.

The story is marvellous, captivating, and next-level crazy. Shani Haim has nailed it, this is the best story of all the books she has written. From the very first line, I fell in love with this book. The second chance romance is perfectly engraved in my soul. The chemistry is intense and the longing is tense. It breaks your heart and then mends it in a way that has never been broken. A must read. I have a lot to say but probably I’ll let you figure out everything good about the story by reading it.

This is the 3rd and last book of The Writer Series. I'm soooo glad Shani reached out to me last August to read this series and review this series, because I absolutely loved all the books!

The third one is by far my favorite! The book is about Justine and Roman, two childhood friends who became enemies and then had to have an arranged marriage. The book has the following tropes: arranged marriage, bully romance, childhood friends to enemies to lovers and last but not least the soulmates trope. The only trigger warning that I found reading it is a toxic, really toxic father, and maybe the misunderstanding trope.

I LOVED this book! The plot was cute, sweet, emotional, interesting, heartwarming and beautiful! Shani's writing was the best out of the three books. There were AMAZING quotes in this book. It was very optimistic and I would say that overall, it was a feel-good book. Lastly, the smutty part was pretty great. I loved all their scenes; they were very steamy and hot. Roman knows what he is doing!

I also LOVED both characters. Justine was cute, funny, sweet and overall lovely. She was a very good person and even though she's been hurt a lot, she moves one with her life; she is optimistic, feisty and a dreamer. Roman was absolutely amazing! He was an asshole at first, but he was actually a soft boy with bad boy vibes. He was handsome, interesting, attractive and really cute. He loves Justine with all his heart and he was too good for this world! I totally believe that all women out there want a man like Roman; he is definitely bf/husband material!

Overall, I LOVED it! Just read it ASAP!

Brilliant concluding story in this series.
I have enjoyed reading this series from Ms Haim so much. She has created a world where these friends and their partners are such complex characters who all go on extraordinary growth arcs in their stores, overcoming past hardships and hurts; but Marrying a Writer is without doubt my favourite of the three.
Justine and Roman’s story is almost painful to read at times, the hurt they inflict on each other as adults after the loving and supportive relationship they had during their childhood years is hard to read. Amazing what anger and hurt can be felt for years from a misunderstanding and a lack of communication. Ms. Haim puts all this hurt and pain on the page and through her superb writing reveals the little chinks in their respective armors that eventually open up and bring then back to each other.
Lots of steam, wounded egos and tears, but ultimately a fantastic story that lingers long after it’s finished.

oh my god, Shani, love, you did it again. You took my heart, healed it, stabbed it and then put it all back together again. I have been waiting for this book for what feels like forever, when I heard about the tropes and the characters in Kissing a Writer I just knew i would love this book, and guess what, I DID!

Some of my favorite tropes;
> Boy obsessed
> Friends to enemies to lovers
> Marriage of convenience

The first thing that i wanna add that i love about Shani´s books is how they all are connected even though they are standalone, but seeing things from the as I am series just makes my heart all warm.

Roman and Justine are childhood best friends who used to be inseparable, doing everything together, loving each other, until they didn´t. Over a night they turned into strangers, and not the friendly kind. After not speaking for many years they are forced back together by a marriage of convenience and here is where the books takes off.

Justine is a woman who has been through a lot, she puts everyone above herself and her own needs and she may be a bit messy but she always does what is right, unconditionally. She feels a deep love down to her bone and soul but shes also scared of being hurt and she puts her beautiful heart in a locked box not willing to let anyone in. Trust issues dont even cover it, but she also has all the reasons to have them, after constantly being dissapointed it is incredible how she has stayed so strong, until she is reunited with Roman.

Roman who makes Justines heart boil and sneak out from that tightly locked box. Roman who has been hurt and betrayed. He carries the world on his shoulders and its slowly bringing him down. He thinks love is a weakness and he wont cave, not again. But he cant fight the longing he feels when he sees her, not for long at least.

Justine and Romans story is sweet, heart warming and empowering. Making the reader feel what they are feeling and connect with the characters the book is impossible to put down. Justmans, Romtine (?? someone help me come up with an awesome ship name cus they deserve it!). I would recommend this book to all and i hope you give it a chance because i promise you, you wont be dissapointed.

And then I have to add, the music taste in the books are immaculate <3

Wonderful conclusion for the series

Perfect happy end for the last woman in this interconnected series.

The story of Roman and Justina is about friends-to-enemies-to-lovers. And all based on a misunderstanding thirteen years ago. Before both had the chance to become more than friends. Justina and Roman went on with their lives and avoided each other.

Now, as she lost her job, Roman is determined to fulfill a contract made years ago. Marrying Justina. Sure that she is not delighted in the slightest.

But because it comes at the right time and feelings are still there the wedding is being held.

Roman tries hard to hold on to his despise for Justina and she is determined to change his mind and clear things. While Justina slowly finds a new life outside of the marriage, Roman finds out something new about his wife at every chance.

And in the middle of finding their way back to each other. Back to friendship and, maybe, love, priorities change.

But Roman has to take down an enemy that Justina isn’t fully aware of. And to make his wife truly his wife and get his revenge, he has to be careful. But his lack of communication is his biggest enemy. Can both overcome their struggles. With each other and their behavior to another. Can they find their way back to trust, love and a life as a family.

The final book in Shani Haim’s The Writer trilogy and it’s a fairly angsty offering in Marrying A Writer as Justine is forced into marrying her one time childhood best friend Roman Gallagher. They had grown up together with only eighteen months separating them and Roman was the one person she could count on, her stalwart defender from her father’s bullying, until one day he wasn’t. He’d become her biggest tormentor.

This is the story of how a simple misunderstanding can make a boy turn on the girl he has loved all his life. At times I wanted to slap Roman for not confronting Justine about what he’d overheard at the time at which point they would’ve laughed at his stupidity and probably have been married for ten years with the obligatory 2.5 kids by this point but then again that would’ve made for a rather boring book. After all what is love without a little or in this case a lot of pain and heartache. I did find myself getting frustrated at Justine’s character for agreeing to marry him though and would’ve had more respect for her if she’d told her father and Roman where they could stick their money. However the fantastic epilogue more than made up for my slight feelings of irritation .

Marrying a Writer is the third book in The Writer series.
Justine and Roman were childhood best friends. But now, Roman has changed, he’s become this cold, distant man. And she has to marry him!
But the more time they spend together, the more Justine sees that boy coming back. Roman’s hard exterior is showing some cracks. And Justine will keep on digging till she finds the true man behind the façade.

Shani has outdone herself with this story. She breaks your heart, but will put it back together … This is about an arranged marriage between two people who grew up together, but life steered them in a different direction. Where Justine is the kind, loyal, pure woman, Roman has changed into a strong, closed off man, standing up against the world.

This is the third book in this series, and this is Roman and Justina’s journey. These two were childhood best friends, until in the blink of the eye, everything changed, when Roman become her tormentor and bully. Now Justina is being forced into an arranged marriage, with a cold and distant Roman, and she is determined to break through the walls surrounding his heart. Can these two move on from enemies / lovers? This is a well written story which is an emotional roller coaster, with romance, misunderstandings, revenge, challenges, family, friendships, trust, and love, which leads to an intriguing and addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

HAPPY RELEASE DAY Shani Haim <333

The end of an era, wow. Beautifully done, Shani Haim! You've truly outdone yourself with this one.

WOW, how do I even begin? All this while, I've been at the edge of my seat waiting to read Roman and Justine's story, and now that I have; I can easily say with the utmost certainty - they're my absolute favorite.

"You're the Buttercup to my Farm Boy, the Highness to my Stanley. You'll be my Tina, and I'll be your Ro. Forever. Say yes."
"And you'll do what?"
"As you wish. I'll always do as you wish."

Marrying a writer begins with Justine and Roman; who've been best friends since they were in diapers. They've always been inseparable, continuously loving one another, and ensuring to have one another's backs as they grew up together. Flash forward to the present time, and we realize that from being childhood besties, they've now become close to strangers, or should I say, enemies. Yes, ya'll guessed it right - a classic friends-to-enemies-to-lovers. What more could happen? Ah, they're now forced into marrying one another. Ah, guessed it right again - marriage of convenience. The story then begins to truly unfold.

Justine is selfless, fearless and on a daily basis, strives to be herself confidently. She's someone who's been through a lot in life, but she doesn't allow that to hold her back and continues to stick by the things she's most passionate about, including her career, friends, and of course, love. Although, when it comes to Roman? She knows she has to safeguard her heart, but over time, she realizes that Roman is someone worth fighting for, as much as it is worth fighting for herself.

Roman, who gets on Justine's nerves on purpose, is incredibly smart and takes his job of being Justine's protector seriously, no matter how much he may loathe her, and her vice versa. But that's the thing about love and hate; there's a very thin line between the both.

Love can be overpowering sometimes - Justine and Roman are the perfect example. Their story is sweet, heart-wrenching, and giggle-worthy. Without truly realizing it, they embark on the journey of healing and finding one another again. When they finally do, LORDS was I cheering and jumping about with my imaginary pompoms. CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT THE SMUT? GO AHEAD AND DESTROY ME Shani Haim. Roman now owns my ovaries.

IF you like the following:
- second chance
- marriage of convenience
- childhood best friends
- dual pov
- childhood besties-to-strangers-to-lovers

then I'd definitely recommend you pick this up!

Hats off Shani Haim, you've thoroughly drowned me (in the best way possible) in the writer series universe and yeap, I'm thinking of purchasing a physical copy of this book, and the rest of the series.

Shout out to my fireheart and twin soul - Ellen, for introducing me to this series and SHANI, who is an angel of a human being. I'm ever so grateful to you, El.

“That’s perfect, because I can’t stand you either, wife.”

Marrying a Writer by Shani Haim is the story of Roman and Justine. They were childhood best friends…until they weren’t. Then they never spoke again. Until…the biggest shock of all occurs!!!! Now, they’re on a precarious slope….falling could end everything!

This was a very good read and is well-written. Roman is pretty bull-headed and charges ahead without thought or provocation. Justine is almost too good to be true! She’s practically perfect in every way. Thoroughly enjoyable read…though it seems unlikely that something like this would go on for so long….nevertheless, a WONDERFUL read that kept me engaged!!

I am volunteering to leave a review for an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

“From the moment I saw you and until the moment I close my eyes, I’m always and forever in love with you.”

Wow these two have got my having heart palpitations.

Roman and Justine ripped my soul into pieces and then put it back together again. This story, their story wasn’t easy. They both had their faults, miscommunications that could’ve cured years of heartache. But I also think the troubles they went though were necessary to grow and fight for themselves and each other.

Their love though was just beautiful. They cared so deeply for each other and it warmed the deepest parts of my soul.

Another incredible piece of work by Shani, thank you so much for the ARC and I can’t wait to read what you gift us with next 💕

“I still hate your fucking guts, husband,” she mumbled against my lips when we separated…

“That’s perfect, because I can’t stand you either, wife.”

GAHHH!! Roman & Justine. I love them so much! This is my favorite book by Shani Haim (and not just because she made me a side character *sobbing happy tears*). And I’m also super sad that it’s the end of the series.

This best friends to enemies to lovers is filled with so much deliciousness…

Love. Hate. Passion. Soul Mates. Misunderstandings. Secrets. Sexual tension. Angst.

It’s her spiciest & sexiest one yet.

From the moment Roman & Justine met as babies, they have loved each other. Roman swore to forever be her protector. And will do whatever it takes to make sure she is safe, even when they hate each other. Because despite every secret & misunderstanding, he loves her fiercely.

Justine is a fearless feisty badass of a heroine. She doesn’t need a protector, she needs a partner. Her immense love for Roman fights to break through whatever has torn them apart. She gives him everything she has, including forgiveness. Their love & future are worth it.

Such a beautiful soul mate love with great angst & banter! And the epilogue?? GAHHH! It’s the perfect conclusion to this series!

Ah this was a fantastic emotional book. This author was new to me and I will now be reading all her back list! This was a sweet, angsty romance which gave me all the feels- frustration, sadness and joy. I wanted to shake both characters to get their act each other. Shani has a wonderful way of capturing your attention and keeping it. I finished this book in less than a day. There were of steamy times too! If you’re after a steamy/ enemies to lovers/ forced proximity romance which leave you feeling warm and fuzzy you’ll enjoy this book

💭 “She was mine and she wasn’t; she was the love of my life and my biggest regret.”

REVIEW ➡️ Swoon… oh my, Shani nailed this story that has been brewing since book one of the “The Writer” series. She build up Justine and Roman story so well, that I was left anticipating it so much. I just needed to know how they went from best friends forever when kids to super enemies now adults.

They were inseparable when younger and they hid their romantic love for each other in fear of losing each other in the process. He was the one that comfort and save her when her dad was horrible and suddenly Roman wasn’t there anymore. Something happened that now years later they are not only strangers, but enemies. I mean, I do love a mystery and an enemies to lovers story. When Tina is forced to marry Ro, their walls started to crumble.

I had so much fun reading this story, their hate-to-love relationship was gold, their banter toward each other were great, I loved how she didn’t have filter over him and gave everything he deserved, the good and the bad. Ro, on the other hand, portrait a cold facade but he was as protective and in love with her as he were before. When their chemistry couldn’t be held in place anymore, it was an explosion of steamy.

Yes, I think this is the steamiest work from Shani and I loved it! Back to the couple, for being bff’s for so long they really lacked communication, it drove me insane. Of course, everything felt in place and they put her dad to his miserable place (although I wished it were harder)! The epilogue… I swoon hard! It was perfect and I loved how it brought a little glimpse of the past couples as well.

Marrying a Writer ARC Review

Couple: Justine & Roman

Author: Shani Haim

Tropes: enemy to lover, forced proximity, arranged marriage

Review: This is the third and final book in the series and it ties up all the loose ends we have from book 1 and 2. We see faces we saw in previous books and then new faces from the new characters in this book.

Justine’s character is expanded and grown upon and we see her become true to herself and her love of Roman. The struggle she had in this book was real and honest and hard to read at times since so much was not understood to her.

Roman is a character we learn more about fort the first time in the series. WE only ever heard him in passing in the other books and now we meet the beast. His tragic love is what forced him to arrange the marriage to his wife. We learn that all the hate and anger he had was one a misunderstanding and he is floored.

The couple struggles with trust and communication. This is frustrating at times since they are both quick to anger and hurt each other with words. I felt like I wanted more meat in this book since there was a lot more conflict that was resolved to fast for me.

Overall, it was a good ending to the series and we got to see the previous two couples get happily ever after.

Rating: 4/5, saddening and wanting more

This is my first read from Shani Haim and to be honest, I am still reeling from how emotional this story is. Marrying a Writer is the third book of The Writer series, but these are all interconnected standalones, so it's not a requirement to read the others first. With this in mind, even though I didn't miss much, I still felt I should have read the previous books, just to fully understand the world that Shani Haim has created.

This story is comprised of many tropes which I absolutely love. This is an arranged marriage concept but also integrates that billionaire romance feel, with the enemies to lovers element. I absolutely LOVED it! This was the icing on the freaking cake. The relationship between our hero and heroine is so complex yet beautifully captivating. I found myself glued and I could not put it down. I finished this book in a span of a few hours. Everything about this book was phenomenal. The love between Justine and Roman was truly inspiring and emotionally raw, it just pulled at my heartstrings.

“From the moment I saw you and until the moment I close my eyes, I’m always and forever in love with you.”

Now I am going to read the first two books of the series and will probably re-read this one again! I strongly recommend this one!

ARC received for voluntary review

This was my first book by this author, but it won't be my last!

Roman and Justine are childhood best friends who grew to love each other in a romantic way until life kicked in, and these two became enemies.

I was totally riveted by these two characters, and was addicted to their storyline. I definitely have to go read the other books in the series now!

Wow! This book was so good. I have always loved a childhood friends to lovers book. The fact that it was friends to lovers to enemies to lovers again, made it so much more appealing to me. I loved every second of it. I wanted more and more and more. I'm definitely reading the other books in the series because I'm so intrigued about the other couple's' stories.

All the wedding and pregnancy coinciding with the friends was such a unique touch. I absolutely absolutely loved that bit so much. It was the best!

It was the perfect book and had everything. Thank you for writing this book.
