He’s vampire royalty who craves virgin blood... and that virgin is me
When you’re a paranormal investigator, you get used to people not believing you. But since taking a plane from Boston to Louisiana to investigate reports of a flying man, even I’m having a hard time believing things for myself.
So far, I’ve been kidnapped and held in a room for ten days. And now the famed 'crazed' vampire prince Francois is convinced that I’m his mate and only my virgin blood will heal his madness.
The Ancients who have captured us intend to resurrect Fran’s father from the dead so they can destroy the Dupont vampire reign. Supposing any of this is true, apparently there's a way to stop the Ancients, but Fran can’t do it without me and we’re running out of time.
I never intended to sacrifice myself to prove the paranormal existed and I’d be crazy to trust a vampire who looks ready to devour me. Especially one who plans on making me his mate…
Roxie Ray is a group of writer friends who love to write Sci Fi Alien Romance and Paranormal Romance. They love to talk, read and write this lovely genre. They hope you love their books and strive to make sure you have a steamy, wonderful experience!
This was a fast-paced paranormal romance, I enjoyed reading it! First of all... that cover is beautiful. I need a copy for my bookshelf.
This story is about Francois and Maura. Francois is a vampire trapped in his garden. Maura is a human being held captive at the same place. They meet when he smells her... she's his one true mate! This was a really sweet, fast paced book with lots of romantic moments and some action! I really enjoyed getting lost in this book for a few hours. Five stars!

François was the previous regent of New Orleans, running things while his father was in stasis. François really had a very sad life never really able to live up to his father’s expectations. In addition his father fed him “dead man’s blood,” which is akin to an addictive drug to vampires. And the results are rather devastating. His addiction to this drug drove him to the brink of insanity. We saw that all play out in the books of the previous series, Baton Rouge Vampire. But this is his redemption story, and what a wonderful story it turned out to be.
While I struggle a little bit with this author, I did really enjoy this particular book. Looking back at my reviews of the other books in the series, it shows the inconsistency in the author's writing. And that is where my problem lies. I will say Roxy Ray usually has very good storylines that I find very enjoyable. The problem is her character development, at least for me. I know “Roxy Ray” is a group of writers. Knowing this, I would expect to have some inconsistencies between the various series that the “author” puts out. I would not expect, however, to see such inconsistencies within the same series. And that’s what I find with nearly all of Roxy Ray’s series.
I know “Roxy Ray“ is capable of good character development, because of this particular character, François. His story arc from the previous series Baton Rouge Vampire through this book, show a tremendous amount of self reflection and growth, I enjoyed it much more than I ever thought I was going to. I’m also a bit flummoxed at how much I like the character of François now. Especially considering what an unlikable character he was in the previous series. I also really liked the character of Maeve, his mate. And here is where Roxy Ray usually fails. She usually really struggles with her female characters. Although that is not the case in this particular book. Reading through my previous reviews, her female characters are really hit and miss. And I find that I either really like them, or I really hate them. There’s not much in between.
All in all I would still highly recommend this series. Although I would recommend that you read the Baton Rouge Vampire series first, as that sets everything up for this particular series. While I don’t think you would be completely lost if you didn’t, you would definitely understand a lot of things much better if you did read the other series prior to this one.
To be honest I loved Francois' redemption arc in this book. One negative thing that I did notice though was that there were some French grammatical errors. The average English reader wouldn't notice these, but as I am fluent in French, I noticed them. The good thing about them though, was that they did not take away from the meaning of the sentence.
These books left me annoyed. There is a great story here but the execution was frustrating. When each pair mates they all say “Hello”. Why would they all say the same thing? It is very repetitive is several areas. But then when fighting happens its all so fast. Then there is all of the errors in the series. Words put in the wrong place or letters missing from words also made it hard to keep the flow of reading. The storyline is fun which kept me reading.
Francois, Maeve and Ciara are at the center of this book as Ancients are in town and causing trouble. Action, danger, blood and Francois a little off his rocker in this entertaining story. A bit dark yet funny at times it was a hot and fun read. Enjoyed it and seeing the rest of the crew from the previous books pop in to help with it all. Plus some secrets are revealed too.
I had been looking forward to reading this book ever since we first met Francois in the Baton Rouge series with Nic. Unfortunately, Francois really got the short end of the stick with his mate. I did not like her at all. She’s so selfish all she can think about is food and remaining human, and yet because she’s a vampire hunter and bit Francois, he can only survive by feeding off of her. Which would be fine if she could turn vampire, but, to her utter joy, she can’t. I’m sorry but if I found out I practically gave my vampire mate a death sentence I would panic and do everything in my power to save him or find a way to turn into a vampire, but nope, she’s too busy being happy to remain human, no thoughts or worries for her mate. I love Francois and he really deserved a better mate and true happiness.

This storyline is an excellent one , but the editing is kinda missing. There are lots of missing letters in words, wrong words and partial thoughts... This final story is full of adventure and it brings all the previous characters and their stories to a conclusion as well. Its got a surprise or two in what exactly the fallen vampire prince is and who his actual mate is not to mention what she is. It is a good series and storyline, but after the first story I wasn't certain I wanted to continue.... But the stories add a little more with each pairing.
I enjoyed this book. I read another book by this author some time ago and really enjoyed it. I thought the premise of this book sounded really interesting and had to pick it up. Great world building. I really liked the characters. Vampire Francois and human Maeve had such great chemistry. This story was a fun adventure. A fast-paced, exciting read. 4 stars.
I absolutely enjoy reading Roxie Ray's Vampires of Baton Rouge series. Ruthless Royalty is the fourth book in the series and gives us Maeve and Francois' story. A vampire and a human... true mates... love finds them saving each other. A great read in an amazing series!.

Francois & Maeve had the BEST love story and I can’t lie and say I was a tiny bit surprised that I was able to enjoy Francois as the Hero of the story! But I LOVED him and I loved Maeve even more!! I could totally read more about these characters - I LOVE them all so much!!
Another fantastic addition to the series. While not essential, I strongly recommend you other books in the series first. Would recommend. Cannot wait for the next book.

I really enjoyed this book! I loved the banter and snark. I haven't read the first books in this series, and found I followed along without any difficulty. However I will go back and read the other three just to indulge myself. I'm not quite ready to say goodbye to Frankie.
I enjoyed reading this book. It contained romance, drama, suspense, and action throughout the book. Excellent reading and writing as always. The characters were awesome.
Wow what story! In this hot read the mad prince finds his cure mare but can he keep from killing her and he succumbs to the Ancients Action, drama, suspense, A great plot and no cliffhanger. Wow!
Great story but it was missing something. Love how all the characters came together. They never explain why the symbol showed on her hand. Also I think there should have been more about the ancients.
A good end to the series. I feel like there are still some things lingering unanswered stuff, but I did enjoy the redemption for Francios. What I did wish if there was some answers to if Conri would have his own book or not?
I love the ending for Francois. I’m not totally sure I understand what happened with his mate! I did enjoy the ending and I really like these characters!! Maybe we will see more of their story in another book.
