She’s one of those girls—Mysterious, driven, all kinds of sexy.
The first time I saw her wrapped up in skintight denim and a cowboy hat riding a mechanical bull, I knew she was trouble. The kind of trouble you spend all night praying never ends and a decade trying to forget. But somehow, after losing a bet, I not only promised her a date but I tasted her cherry red lips.
So tell me why, come Monday morning, she’s sitting across from me at our quarterly board meeting as the new director of social media for Slade Brewing, my family company.
Brooklyn Dyer isn’t just a transplant from Chicago looking for the next step in her career, she’s kind of technically…my new boss.
I wish that was the worst of it, but next thing I know, she’s got me shirtless on a horse posing as the model for her national social media campaign.
She might be a fun, young distraction but I’ve seen plenty of tourists and transplants come and go ‘round here and I’ve learned the hard way that when they leave, they take your heart with it.
So no matter how many nights she spends in my arms, fulfilling all my fantasies—I can’t let myself think it’s anything more than what it is but my resolve doesn’t last long.
Just about the time I think I can let my guard down and embrace these new feelings, life takes a turn when a pining ex shows up, there’s a baby on the way and some seriously dangerous drama unfolds that could change our lives forever.
She’s one of those girls alright.
The type that makes you feel sorry for her exes when you realize what they lost. The type that makes you realize why all your past relationships never worked out. The type that makes you want to finally stop fighting that feeling.
Get ready to dive in to this delicious, steamy romance that will have you wishing for your own brooding cowboy that will knock your socks off and turn your world upside down. If you loved the Slade Brothers then don't miss out on this all new second generation series. Each book is a stand alone with a happily ever after and no cheating.
Alexis Winter is a contemporary romance author who loves to share her steamy stories with the world. She specializes in sexy billionaires, cocky alphas, brooding bad boys and the women they love.
If you love to curl up with a good romance book you will certainly enjoy her work. Whether it's a story about an innocent young woman learning about the world or a sassy and fierce heroine who knows what she wants you're sure to enjoy the happily ever afters she provides.
When Alexis isn't writing away furiously, you can find her exploring the Rocky Mountains, traveling, enjoying a glass of wine or petting a cat.
I was sucked into a FB advertisement blurb. I've heard of this author before, but this book was not on my radar. That Feeling is a case of lots of telling instead of showing. We're supposed to believe that Brooklyn and Tyler have an amazing, instant connection, but nothing showed me that other than their supposed hot AF sex. BTW: The first sex scene is a BJ in a pasture that seems to come out left field. Sure, they've been flirting and touching and temping each other, but they had only kissed once a couple weeks before, and then suddenly he tells her to get on her knees. It was bit jarring.
This book has a few too many tropes: first, it feels like enemies to lovers, then it's insta-love, and there is some BDSM-ish sex thrown in, and an ex that won't get the hint, and a surprise pregnancy, and a life threatening injury. If you want a romance that is about to take a ride on the OTT train, then this book might work for you.
More thoughts: The writing was very run of the mill - nothing special or exciting. I think this book was trying to take itself seriously, and give people "that feeling", but all I felt was a bland, basic romance.
Alexis is a one click author for me that I have been following for awhile and had read the Slade Brothers series so of course I was beyond thrilled that we were getting a second gen series. Our first book is Tyler Slade’s story, he is the oldest child of Celeste & Drake. Being the oldest, it was always expected that he would run the brewery portion of the family business, but his heart was always with the ranch.
Tyler meets Brooklyn for the first time at Grand Lake’s Fall Fest where she shows off her bull riding skills and wins a bet that earns her a date with Tyler. The next time they meet is at a board meeting where Tyler learns that Brooklyn is the social media manager. Her plan involves making Tyler the face of the campaign. They are forced to spend lots of time together and their instant attraction can’t be hidden. I enjoyed Brook’s relentless pursuit of Tyler, while Ty tried his hardest to ignore his feelings out of fear.
It was refreshing how their love story played out, they both ended up on the same page about their relationship sooner rather than later. Alexis always delivers the STEAMIEST scenes. Those who enjoy a breeder’s kink would love this book. Is there something that will come between Tyler and Brooke? Or will their love prove to be strong. Tyler and Brooklyn have a lot to overcome before they get their HEA. Their age gap. Brooklyn’s old life in Chicago. Brooklyn’s ex boyfriend Neal. There was a lot to unpack from the story that happened at the end of the series. I just loved their passion for each other and all the dirty talk. If you are looking fo
Steamy, lust-at-first-sight, second gen of the Slade Brothers and cowboys! How Perfect?! Love the cover! Love the chemistry between Tyler Slade and Brooklyn Dyer! So much passion…so much steam. If you’ve been waiting to revisit the Slade brothers, here’s your chance. You get to revisit the older generation and see how they have fared as well as hone in on their children in this new series of standalones. Tyler Slade chose to run his father Drake’s ranch instead of going into the brewery business with him. Now in his late 30’s he’s very happy with his life. His brother Trent took to running the brewery biz just fine and being quiet on his ranch is just what Tyler likes. When he meets 26yo Brooklyn at a Slade Brothers sponsored event, his life will be forever altered. Brook has a former boyfriend named Neal who will play a prominent part later in the story and causes lots of angst. An almost-tragedy cements feelings. Great ending. Lots of poignant moments amongst all the steam. The passion is TRULY OFF-THE-CHARTS in this new book and I expect very much the same in all Ms. Winter’s books. Who will be next? Mallory, Brooklyn’s sister? Trent who hates Amelia Blanc vehemently? Or one of the cousins? Could it be Ranger and Millie? Can’t wait to find out! I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Booksprout.
Alexis, you put out another great book. This is the second generation of the Slades.
Cowboy hat, boot wearing, and wrangles are my weakness. If it is yours then this is your book. Tyler is the oldest Slade boy son of Drake and Celeste and was the head of their farm. This man and his dirty mouth caused me to be hot and bothered in a good way. Tyler also was set in his ways until Brooklyn showed up and turned his world around. Brook is a girl who pushed and stands her ground which I loved while Tyler acted like a jerk face. The banter was perfect and once they came together it was intense. This book had me glued to the pages till the end. Cannot wait to see more of the second generation play out.
This book was a quick read, and was recommended to me by a friend. It would've been more enjoyable if it didn't have over 30 references to crying, and characters who had the tendency to misunderstand, and seemingly refuse to communicate with each other, without stomping off or overreacting. It skipped around quite a bit as well. Each chapter towards the end of the book skipped forward 3 months, and it felt extremely rushed. Overall, it was a halfway decent story, with hints of drama and OM issues..but there wasn't one consistent issue that was overcome by the couple, just a series of very odd events that converged and which we the readers, were never really able to see completely fleshed out. Very odd and fragmented storyline.
Brooklyn and Tyler’s story is a real winner. They don’t get off to the best start as they both have their own agendas and trying to get them to mix doesn’t go well. As they work through their differences and build their relationship the story gets better and better. How they make it to their HEA makes for a really good read!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
It’s hard for me to rate this. It’s so good and we see them go through different stages of their life albeit quickly, but I love seeing that. The commanding though, that is just something I cannot get passed. Mostly bc I really really hate control for many reasons. Not like it’s control necessarily but yeah, u can’t get passed that.
I started this book on a whim because I got sucked into a random Facebook ad. This book was going pretty well and I thought I’d rate it 3.5 stars until the 50% mark when I started getting bored and started to scroll. The characters had some petty, immature drama and I’m over it. 🥱
The insta-love was cute for a second but what really disappointed me was the fact I never really felt like I got to feel that same spark and spunk from Brook after that first chapter. Maybe it was bc now she had a POV too? And it wasn’t just Tyler??? But it still felt pretty bummy bc she was so aggressive and gypsy-ish in her nymph like mysteriousness when we first meet her in the ML only POV.
The part that honestly made me quit this read entirely tho was the part where she didn’t tell her current boa about what was going down with her ex-one. I (kinda) can understand her reasonings, I just think they could have been described or delved into a little better than they were. She instantly looses that drive and determination and fire when she avoids the issue entirely like a coward and her emotional anxiety over that is totally understandable- but again- horribly described and therefore, tough to really sympathize with.
All that being said. Eeh. It was neat enough at first to keep me in for a bit (I made it to like, 70%) but it was still a DNF for me bc it was all starting to get so dumb.
No one tells the tale of that feeling of love as well as Alexis Winter. And, no family demonstrates the positive impact of that feeling of love than the Slade brothers. Now, the next generation is stepping up, influenced by the strong men and loving women of the family. Now, the next generation of the Slade Family of Grand Lake Colorado is ready to take the reins from their parents to run Slade Brewery. The family business has spread from being a regional distillery to a national concern, offering its original whiskey, but now also offering beers and seltzers. And, with the younger generation at the helm, other changes are coming.
The first generation of brothers have found love and happiness with their wives and now grown children. Patriarch and CEO Drake and wife Celeste, the head of the Slade holdings legal department, have chosen step back from the day-to-day operations of the Slade holdings. Their tall, handsome sons, Tyler and Trent, with the help of their many cousins, are to handle the family’s business concerns. Tyler will manage the ranch while his younger brother, Trent, will be taking the leadership position at the brewery.
And, as the next generation begins to step up to the challenges and opportunities that have been passed to them, there are natural moments of tension. One such challenge is Trent’s vision of taking Slade Distillery to an international level as older brother, Tyler, challenges the idea, fearful of the brand losing both its audience and integrity. So, to help direct the promotion of the company’s new ventures, the board of directors, comprised of many Slade brothers, wives and cousins, has hired a new employee to help Trent promote the concepts in a national and international outreach. The company’s expansion and new offerings and the introduction of a new market will be in the hands of a powerhouse communicator hired to help conceptualize the company’s plans and vision.
Brooklyn Dyer, a 26-year-old native of Chicago, will be the creative brain and director of the company’s new advertising and social media campaign. The beautiful blonde with green eyes and a petite curvy body is a powerhouse of ideas and vision, and she knows the social media world in all its iterations. And after her brief “accidental” encounter with Tyler Slade, the eldest son of Drake and Celeste managing the electric bull ride at the community charity fair, the social media maven knows a future internet hunk when she sees, flirts and irritates him. She only needs to convince the reclusive rancher, who would rather spend time with his horse than schmoozing with business types, that all she needs him do is to ride his horse, to engage in his regular chores and to be is himself to sell the image and life of a strong man who drinks Slade whisky—and its other associated beverages.
It is not necessary to have read any of the previous novels involving the Slade family—but after reading one brother or child’s story, why not read the others? And, as Winters again invites her reading audience into the world of the Slade family of Grand Lake, Colorado she teases the reader’s heart and imagination offering a bevy of handsome and beautiful cousins in possession of fortunes and definitely in need of a wives or husbands.
I purchased a copy of this romance with Kindle and am already anticipating the next tale of the Slade family. The sparks and fire between younger brother Trent and the beautiful and challenging with Amelia Blanc, the daughter of a wine producing family who is seeking to re-establish her family’s heritage. The very notion of doing business with Slade International Enterprises CEO, Tyler, is too good for her to pass up, even if it means she might bump heads and knock boots, promising the reader a passionate read.
That Feeling is an insta-love story about a rancher and the city girl who makes him feel “that feeling”.
Tyler Slade runs a successful ranch and doesn’t have time for city girls who are just looking to blow off some steam and then get back to their big city lives, breaking his heart in the process.
Brooklyn Dyer is one of those city girls, except that she’s staying. She wants a life away from the bright lights and hustle and bustle of the city. Small town life is it for her and she isn’t going anywhere.
A lot happens with these two during the book. At 50% in they are already in love and telling each other constantly how crazy they are about each other. Halfway through and we’re already here, so you know the drama is coming now.
Except that it doesn’t quite hit that angst you usually get with a romance? Yes, there is an old ex who shows up to try to win back their lover’s affection, but that only lasts like a chapter and then it seems to quickly wrap itself up. And then there’s a surprise pregnancy, but again, the actual angsty part of the situation lasts maybe 5 seconds. And then someone gets seriously injured and we’re thinking “oh shit! they gonna die!!”, but that gets wrapped up with a nice neat bow too.
It’s just a lot happens to these two and it’s very unfortunate for them that have to go through so much drama that actually isn’t really that overly dramatic in the end.
One thing I didn’t understand either was that at first Tyler doesn’t want to have a relationship with Brooklyn because “she’s going to leave and go back to the city and break his heart” just like another woman did to him, but then when Brooklyn asks him about his past relationships and if somebody broke his heart he’s all “nah, no one broke my heart, they just weren’t the one”. What?! Earlier in the story you mentioned falling hard for a woman that was looking for an escape from reality and you were looking for a relationship. I was confused by that. Did you or did you not fall hard for her, and was your heart not broken?
These two did have some spicy chemistry from the moment they met, and the book was filled with some heated scenes. And while I am a fan of insta-love, there was just so much going on I think it sort of took away from the connection I wanted to have with the story and the characters.
How fabulous to get to know the second generation of the brilliant Slade family. Tyler Slade couldn't believe his eyes, he was manning the mechanical bull at the annual Grand Lake Fall Fest and the city girl, looking like a tourist in her cut off denim jean shorts, her shiny new cowboy boots and Amazon cowboy hat and fake belt buckle, had rode the bull for a full eight seconds, the prize that she demanded was a date with him, she must be mad, he was a grumpy cowboys ten years her senior and she was gorgeous.....but she had no chance. Tyler Slade was the eldest son of Drake and Celeste Slade, he had been expected to take over the successful Slade brewing business but his heart was on the land, instead he left it to his younger brother, Trent who was much better at it than him and he took over running the vast family ranch. Tyler was dumbstruck when he walked into the board meeting at Slade International only to be confronted by, and introduced to as the new social Media Strategist, was miss bull riding tourist, the same tourists who had flirted with him outrageously and shared an intimate toe curling moment that he had to admit that he enjoyed......... but Tyler had no intention of going on a date with her, he thought that he was safe, he thought that he wouldn't see her again. Brooklyn Dyer had left the city, and a going nowhere relationship, to make a new life for herself, she had applied for this job with Slade International and now it looked as though it could get interesting. This story follows the sometimes tempestuous, sometimes electric relationship between Brooklyn and Tyler, the amusing bachelor auction, Tyler being cajoled, against his reservations, to being the media face of the company, problems caused by past nondisclosures. Despite Tyler being a grumpy, tetchy loner with no intention of getting involved in a relationship and Brooklyn being a feisty, outgoing beauty who had run from a disastrous relationship, the chemistry between them was off the scale. Looking forward to reading the next one in the series.

@alexiswinterauthor is 100% a one click author for me. Thank you for the arc Alexis! That Feeling was all the things I love 🌻opposites attract - rancher & city girl 🌻instant attraction 🌻workplace romance This is our first peek at the second generation of the Slade family. The Slade Brothers was the very first series that I read from Alexis Winter so when I heard that she was writing the second generation to the Slade Brothers I got really excited. In no way do you have to have read the original Slade Brothers series in order to enjoy this book, though personally I love seeing the similarities and comparisons between the original group and their kids as they start their journeys to HEA.
First up in this new series is Tyler Slade- the oldest son to Drake and Celeste (Billionaire's Unexpected Surprise). I really enjoyed so much about Tyler's story and while there are a couple parts that didn't quite mesh for me in the story (perhaps they had more to do with setting up part of the storyline for future books in the series) I loved the journey and give it a solid 4.5 ⭐
Tyler is the strong silent type, he's stubborn, focuses on work rather than finding his person yet family is the most important thing to him. Then Brooklyn Dyer comes along and lights a fire inside of him and unleashes a side of himself he never thought he could explore. Brooklyn is feisty and sassy but has this scared and vulnerable side to her that compliments Tyler's personality. She may be a decade younger but the chemistry between these two is amazing.
Let me just say that THIS BOOK IS 🔥🔥🥵🔥🔥 Tyler and Brooklyn get hot and they get dirty and they do it A LOT.
But all in the midst of their intensity they form other connections with each other and their families. Brooklyn was able to get Tyler to lower his walls pretty quickly and it was fun to see how easily she could get him to agree to things that were so out of character for him. I love Alexis' work so I don't always read the blurb to her books before diving in so I was a little shocked when they worked through a major bump just over halfway through the book. I wasn't ready for the direction the twists in their story took us but I loved it.
I'm really excited for more of the second generation of Slade's- this book helped lay some of the groundwork and hint at the stories to come and I'm ready for it!
That Feeling is the first book in the second generation of books dealing with the Slade family, and it’s even better than I could’ve hoped! The original Slade Brothers series is probably my favorite by Winter, so I was prepared to like this book but ended up absolutely loving it. Seriously, this book is all kinds of steamy and addictive with plenty of well-placed drama that had me rivetted and unwilling to put it down.
Brooklyn is new to Colorado having gotten a job for the Slade’s brewery working on their social media/advertising, and Tyler is the eldest son of the brewery’s owner, Drake. Instead of taking it over, he decided his heart is running the family ranch, but Brooklyn has big plans for him by putting him to work as the face of the brand. To say Tyler is reluctant to play model for his family’s business is an understatement, but Brooklyn eventually cajoles him into doing it. Right from the start, there’s an attraction, and rather quickly we see them go from just working together to something very different, despite there being more than a couple bumps along the way.
When we first meet Tyler and Brooklyn, there’s an immediate electric undercurrent between them. Their chemistry is off the charts, and when they finally give in to it, it’s almost explosive. The passion between these two is crazy hot, and the way they went about their relationship with all the ups and downs peppered with those steamy moments made for a completely compelling read.
And I love a book where you get to see secondary characters help to fuel the storyline, and when those characters are ones we’ve already met? Even better. I loved seeing Drake in his later years and getting to know the new generation of Slades has me excited for what’s coming in this series. I adored seeing how the others, especially Tyler’s brother Trent, brought in this humorous but heartfelt side to the book. This is the sort of family of characters where you fall in love with them right away, and I cannot wait to see what’s in store for them next.
“You’re pregnant.” My mouth falls open and then I laugh. “What? No, I’m not. How the hell would you even know before me anyway?” He holds up his fingers as he starts ticking off reasons. “I haven’t seen any tampons on the counter in weeks, I’m pretty sure you’ve missed close to a dozen pills in the last few months, and baby, I can’t keep you satisfied.” I shake my head. “I’ve just been stressed. I’ve lost my period due to stress before, back in college.” I feel my cheeks grow a little warm with embarrassment. “Thought you liked how much we had sex.” He chuckles and rubs his jaw. “Trust me, sweetheart, I love how much you enjoy riding my cock, but baby, I’ve been giving it to you three times a night for weeks and it’s not enough. You just tried to get me to fuck you in your office.” “Sex is also a stress reliever,” I say. He shakes his head. “Don’t get your feelings hurt here, but when I bought you that red lingerie piece a few months back, it fit you just fine. Last night you were bursting out of that thing.” My mouth drops open. “Are you calling me fat?” “Baby, just take the test.” He grabs the box and starts to open it. “Fine, but you’ll owe me a serious apology when it turns out to be negative.” I stand and straighten out my blouse as he hands me the test. I go into my private restroom and pee on the end of the stick, putting the lid on and washing my hands. I open the door and step back into my office as Tyler goes into the restroom to look at the test. “Takes three minutes,” I say as he picks it up and holds it. I sit back down and click through my email and calendar, completely preoccupied with the dozens of things I have to get done today. I’m replying to an email when out of the corner of my eye, I see Tyler approach my desk. I look up at him and his hand is outstretched with the test. I reach for it with a smirk on my face. “I told yo—” My voice falters as I do a double take at the single word staring me in the face. Pregnant.
I received this ebook ARC, from the author, on the condition that I write an honest review. This book, OMG, it was so good, so hard to put it down. Alexis Winter has written the perfect mix of instant attraction, romance, family closeness, resistance to love, and eventually true love, between a hard headed cowboy and an independent, feisty woman. The flow of the story was extremely good, and laced with exciting episodes. Tyler is a member of the Slade family, and runs the ranch for the family. He is a dedicated bachelor, and a bit of a grouch. He has had previous relationships, but was never ready to settle down. He is a board member of his families winery. Brooklyn is a young single woman, who has run from a bad relationship in her home town. Her family all live in Chicago, but she wants her independence, and she comes to work for the Slade’s, as a media consultant. When Tyler and Brooklyn first meet, there is an immediate attraction, but both deny it. They flirt, but resist each other, constantly, and head butt a lot. She talks him into posing for an ad, on social media, and they begin to become closer. A relationship develops, but different obstacles occur, like a bachelor auction that becomes hurtful to Brooklyn, the return of a delusional ex of Brooklyn, a sudden shooting, and hospitalization of Tyler, and to top it all, an unplanned pregnancy. Overcoming all the obstacles, Tyler and Brooklyn finally obtain their HEA with a beautiful end to the perfect book. I highly recommend this ebook.
The couple in this book, Tyler and Brooklyn, meet at a festival at the mechanical bull ride. It's cute, and I enjoyed that the FMC was pretty straightforward and aggressive about her attraction towards Tyler.
The plot is very much insta-love, workplace romance. It's done really well and doesn't seem forced between the two characters. The angst between the two is very much on the part of Tyler being an absolute mopey bastard. And that's what made me dislike him so much.
Brooklyn moved from Chicago to Colorado for a new job working for Tyler's family's brewery as a social media director. Leaving behind a man-child ex boyfriend who doesn't understand the words "I don't love you." After the ex and Tyler accidentally meet, Tyler accuses Brooklyn of lying to him by not telling him in detail about her entire relationship with her ex. Explicitly says that she lied by omission.
The thing is, Tyler never asked the who, what, when, where, and why's. Brooklyn did tell Tyler about how she consistently wanted to leave her ex but felt she couldn't because of family and peer pressure. Secondly, who gives a rats ass! Brooklyn made it clear she was single before coming to Colorado, in love with Tyler, and made it obvious at work and in public that they were in a committed relationship. And this guy just stops talking to her for weeks and ignores her because she didn't tell him about stuff he never asked for and had literally zero bearing on their own relationship? This is when I stopped caring about him and his feelings, it was too much.
Brooklyn and Tyler meet while he is operating a mechanical bull. She says if she stays on for however long he has to take her on a date. He thinks she’s hot but doesn’t date. She wins and he tries to get away. She catches up to him and they kiss then he tells her he will take her out the next night
The next day he goes to the brewery and his brother introduces him to the new marketing person and its Brooklyn. He is pissed. They don’t mention the date again
She wants him to pose for a few photos, he says no then tells her to get on her knees, and she does. Are you kidding me? He gets his dick out and she blows him. After he basically tells her to leave like the asshole he is
She doesn’t seem mad about it which I thought was odd, its like it never happened.
She convinces him to do the pictures then do the bachelor auction. When she realises his ex is bidding on him she bids too help. She wins and he goes off on her. He is such an ass. Says she is trying to trap him into a relationship she says she was just helping him
The he does a total 180 and apologises and the start dating. There first date they go camping. Ok totally normal first date thing to do. They have sex for the first time in the tent. He spits on his hand and pushes into her. She screams and he says ‘I know it hurts, your not fully ready but I need to be inside you’ so romantic!!
I just got the feeling he didn’t give two shits about her. As long as he got off
Then they declare their love. I swear I got whiplash reading this
Then her ex shows up and tells him a load of lies which he believes over the woman he just said he loves.
Then she says she is sorry -what the actual fuck- and gives him the plane ticket she bought him so he could meet her parents.
He doesn’t show up at the airport so she gets on the plane and goes herself. When she gets to the other end there is a car waiting for her and he is in it. She asks how and he says private jet. So let me get this right. She has to fly commercial thinking he isn’t coming and he flies in luxury. I would be so pissed of that was me.
She finds out she is pregnant and honestly she freaks a bit which pisses him off again. The woman literally cant do anything. He is a manchild!!!
Then out of nowhere he gets shot which wasn’t who I thought it was going to be. Honestly because it wasn’t who I thought it was I kinda wondered what it was there for at all. It was a pointless addition to the story
The story was struggling anyway then it all went to shit
Its jumped 3 months to them getting married
Then another 3 months to her having the baby
The jumped another 3 months to I cant even remember
Then it just ended and 90%
I hated Tyler and I disliked Brooklyn. He was an arsehole and she was a wet blanket
I read a few books from this author a while ago and enjoyed them including the original Slade brothers but then I read her newest series at the time and it was just like this. Men who treated the women like shit and women who let them so I gave up on this author then I saw this and thought id try it. Don’t know why I bothered. Ill give book two a go but if its like this then I’m done

When cowboy Tyler Slade and Brooklyn Dyer meet at the Grand Lake Fall Fest, their chemistry is off the charts. There’s some flirting and some kissing which is great until Tyler walks into his family’s company the next day and finds out that Brooklyn is the new director of social media and plans on using him as the model for Slade Brewery’s advertising campaign. Tyler is not happy - at least not until the two start forming some feelings for one another!
This book checks off all the boxes - romance, spice, a little drama - all the things I love in a romance. As a huge fan of the original Slade Brothers series, I knew I would love this series just as much, and the first book of the Slade Brothers Second Generation series is a winner. Alexis Winter has created amazing characters, first-rate world building, and a fast-paced plot. The book tends to lean a little toward the emotional side, but there’s humor as well. Tyler and Brooklyn form a quick relationship that I loved seeing through from start to finish, and it was great to touch base with the original Slade brothers and the next generation of characters.
That Feeling can be read as a standalone, but you’ll love it even more if you read the original Slade Brothers series. Either way, let me know when you’ve read - I’d love to discuss.
That Feeling throws you straight into the deep end of cowboy romance, with Brooklyn rocking tight denim and a cowboy hat on a mechanical bull. Tyler's all in, even after losing a bet, and before you know it, they're lip-locked. Fast forward to Monday, and bam! Brooklyn's the new director of social media at Slade Brewing, Tyler's family business.
This ain't your typical love story, folks. You get a bit of enemies-to-lovers, a dash of insta-love, some BDSM-ish spice, an ex who won't take a hint, a surprise pregnancy, and drama that's almost too much to handle. If you're up for a wild, unpredictable romance, this might be your jam.
Now, I wasn't vibing with it. There's a lack of chemistry and character depth, especially from Brooklyn's angle. The steamy scenes, including a pasture rendezvous, caught folks off guard – like, seriously unexpected.
Others found the writing alright, calling it run-of-the-mill. And while the story tries to be serious about giving you "that feeling," it might leave you with more of a basic romance flavor than the spicy one you were hoping for.
So, That Feeling might not be the ride for everyone. If you're into over-the-top drama, unexpected twists, and a good dose of heat, though, this cowboy romance might just lasso you in. Saddle up, and see if Brooklyn and Tyler's rollercoaster love story in the wild West is your thing.
That Feeling is the first book in the next generation spin off to the Slade Brothers series. This story follows Tyler, the eldest child of Drake and Celeste and Brooklyn. As the oldest child it was expected that Tyler would run the brewery which is a family business, but Tyler prefers the outdoor lifestyle and so decided to run the family ranch instead. Tyler and Brooklyn first meet when they make a bet if she wins he will go on a date with him. Before the date happens, Tyler goes to a board meeting for the brewery and there he sees Brooklyn again who turns out to be the new social media events manager. Tyler reluctantly agrees to be the face of Slade Brewing and they both end up working together often. There was instant attraction between them from the beginning but Tyler doesn't want to mix business with pleasure so tries to resist the attraction. They do eventually give in to their attraction but have a lot to overcome before they get their HEA.
I loved the story of Tyler and Brooklyn, it's a sweet, funny, romantic and steamy story. I loved the banter between the two which added humour. I can't wait to read more of the next generation of the Slade family.

That Feeling is an age gap, small town romance and follows the 2nd generation Slade family! Brooklyn is a smart, flirty, feisty city girl who moves to the small town for a career opportunity. This is the change she was looking for but little did she know what she’ll find once she gets there. Tyler is a broody cowboy rancher who lives a life of solitude. He is still on the board of his family brewery, but prefers to be outdoors at the ranch. He volunteers with his family at an annual fair and meets Brooklyn. Tyler and Brooklyn have insane chemistry. Brooklyn has an agenda behind her flirtatious behaviour and Tyler tries to deny and ignore the instant attraction he feels. His insecurities and Brooklyn working for his family’s brewery keep him from acting on his attraction. But the more they are together the stronger their attraction and their genuine love build. Their relationship is one of love and partnership. Their smutty times are spicy with a bit of dom/sub play. The ending is so sweet and continues the Slade family traditions. This story is not only a sweet love story with some spice, but it also gives us glimpses of our fave Slade daddies too! I loved this book and can’t wait for more from the Slade family next generation!

Tyler is the oldest son of Drake, he was entitled to become the CEO of the family brewing company, but he decided to leave that up to his younger brother as he would rather run the ranch. Tyler meets Brooklyn when she beats the 8 second rule on a mechanical bull he is operating, she requests a date from him as the prize for her win, but come Monday morning he finds out that she is not just some tourist but the new social media strategist for the brewery. Brooklyn convinces Tyler to be the face of the brewery which means they end up working together more. Even though there is an instant attraction between them, Tyler doesn't want to mix business and pleasure especially when he thinks she is too young for him but Brooklyn is intent on pursuing him. Can they finally end up on the same page with their feelings and end up with a HEA.
This is the first book in the sequel to the Slade brothers series, which follows their kids as they find romance. I enjoyed reading this book just as much as the original series and am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Tyler is a bloody prick. The double standards are out of this world.
Spoliders to follow . . . . . The conflict at 60% is the fmc ex has been messaged by her ex a few times and she's blocked his number and hidden the messages and calls from mmc. Then ex turns up and twists the truth to mmc and he's pissed. He asked her NOTHING of depth about her previous relationship but it pissy fmc didn't bring it up? Catch a grip 🙄 so she explains all of the miscommunication. He doesn't accept her apology, shuts her down and he still doesn't speak to her for TWO WEEKS! She finally goes to speak to him and HIS EX is leaving his house. Fucking kisses his cheek. But she is still apologising? Fuck all that noise.
He is so mean to her on several occasions and she is so forgiving. Maybe she needs to grow a backbone.
Also I can totally get down with a bit of degradation kink, fuck toy talk. Yes I'm here for it BUT the fmc needs to be being treated well outside of the bedroom. There needs to be some after-care. Not "good I'm glad you hurt" the next morning.
Urgh. Sorry, no. Tyler is an ick incarnate. 👎 DNF 62%
I just loved the Slade Brother series and was really looking forward to the Slade Brothers Second Generation series. And this new book is absolutely fabulous! Tyler Slade is a sex cowboy who prefers to run the family ranch and who is also active on the Slade Brewery Board of Directors. Brooklyn is curvy and vivacious dynamo who has been hired to be the new social media director of the brewery. There is an instant attraction between the two. This a wonderful love story full of sexy & steamy deliciousness, personal & relationship struggles, family involvement and drama. Tyler wants a forever relationship but is not sure if it is worth taking the chance and Brooklyn wants someone who will listen to her and be an equal partner. Pass relationships come back to haunt the couple as they struggle to find their happily ever after. I loved this book and it is an excellent addition to the Slade Series. I didn’t want to put the book down and would give it more than 5 stars if I could! I received a free copy of this book from Booksprout for an honest review.
