Your Boss Says Hi!

Rate this book
This is a revenge story. Well, that’s my intention, anyway . . .

I, Oakley Durant, am nobody’s fool, at least not once I’ve seen photographic evidence. If my smug-faced, lying boyfriend thinks he can gaslight me out of believing that I saw who and what I saw on his phone, he’s got a wake-up call coming in hot. I recognize her and the cross-eyed squirrel on her shoulder—which should definitely have left her with more than a few RAGRETS!

But we’re at his company picnic, and I am not going to make a spectacle of myself. I’m going to have one more free margarita, and then I’m going to get the hell out of here.

This is a rock-solid plan . . . until the owner of the company, Hollis Nyx, former NFL player/current Daddy Thick Thighs (ugh, don’t ask, and please do not encourage my use of this nickname – it could only end embarrassingly for me), raises his beer at me and smiles. It would be rude not to say hello and introduce myself.

You know how sometimes hello leads to a conversation, which leads to some mild flirtation, which leads to two people in the elevator headed up to the president/CEO’s impressive corner office? Yeah, it’s like that.

Listen, nobody’s looking for a happily ever after here. I know exactly what I’m doing with this man. I’m getting even, that’s all. This is just one incredibly hot, spite-fueled encounter on his huge leather couch. And up against his tinted (probably) windows. And in his private bathroom. And it only makes sense that a gentleman like Hollis Nyx would buy me dinner afterward. But that’s where it ends. This is no fairy tale. No swoon-worthy romance.

Nope, never going to happen.

In my Top 5 favorite books of 2022

So I'm still thinking about this dang book.

I didn't know what to expect going in, but I definitely didn't expect to find one of my favorite reads of the year. Y'all need to keep your eyes out for Indie Sparks.

I'm super picky on the writing when reading any book, but this was so smooth and fluid that it's extremely easy to devour in one sitting if you're not careful. The characters, plot and dialogue were top notch, 10/10. One word kept popping into my head: effortless. The witty and funny banter between characters, the development in relationships, the storyline. It was all SO WELL DONE. I've never laughed out loud with any other book as I have with this one, it had my type of humor.
"What were you thinking about to fend off your orgasm?"
"You."
He clutches his chest dramatically and staggers back a few steps. "I've been shot."

I LOVED how once Oakley caught her boyfriend cheating, she took charge of her own future/happiness/well-being and went and got herself laid.👏🏻 Although it started as revenge sex, it didn't harp on it by repeatedly coming back to being about her cheating ass of an ex. She just wanted to be happy and do something for herself, which I am always here for. FMCs deserve hot sex just as much, if not more, than the male characters. Plus, she was finally discovering what she liked during sex because she was safe and comfortable enough to explore it.🥺 And these spicy scenes, y'alllllll 🥵🥵🌶️🌶️🌶️ I melted 🌊 Also, can we normalize reading romances about men coming before women, the women still enjoying it, but then the guys making sure they’re satisfied after? I didn't know I needed that, but it's SUPER realistic, and I might've felt seen 😂

These characters...👌I felt like I could easily meet them irl. They were real, funny, imperfect people. Oakley definitely had her flaws, but she was mature and honest and realized on her own she deserves better, that she doesn't have to be manipulated and gaslit by a narcissist. Also, I lived for her type of petty 👏 Nadine was the GOAT of friends, and I am very much looking forward to reading her book. Hollis might be my favorite MMC I've read about. Talk about non-toxic, positive masculinity!! Breath of much needed fresh air. Even though there was an age-gap, he was a professional athlete and a millionaire, they weren't brought up every other page. I think that's why I really connected to these characters, they felt like everyday people, and I got to focus a lot on their budding relationship- a healthy relationship too!

I struggled to find something I didn't particularly care for and all I got was wishing it was longer lol. I wanted more time in this world with these people. I was smiling so much while reading this, I know it's going to be one I pick up again and again, especially if I need a mood booster. Read this. 🙌

**OMG we get Nadine's book next!

3.5 stars. I really enjoyed this - I found it light and occasionally funny and just a generally easy read. I liked the heroine and how she didn’t allow herself to be sucked into a new relationship without asserting herself and her own desires. She wasn’t throwing her life away or risking her career for a seemingly perfect man. She didn’t drop what she was doing when he invited her to accompany him on a business trip. She wasn’t living on her friend’s couch in anticipation of moving in with the hero, but instead quickly got her own place. She also didn’t want her ex back after realizing that he was a cheater and gaslighter.

However, I do wish there were fewer sex scenes, or just more time spent outside of the sex scenes. I found that they were all so overly long that I just ended up skimming through them. I’m all for long sex scenes (was this book meant to be purely erotica??) but I don’t want the relationship to be built only on sex. I believe they spent more page time sexing each other than they spent doing anything together outside of the bedroom, which was detrimental in my feeling they had a true connection beyond the physical. Also, they never even had any kind of safe-sex talk, just went in bare from the start. 😨🫣🤯 I didn’t feel like their relationship developed enough outside of the bedroom. Lots of “and then we talked about x, y & z” instead of actually having those conversations on page. Adding some more banter and conversation would have gone a long way. I think the heroine talked to side characters a lot more than she did the hero.

Finally, the third act breakup, as I had feared, was pretty stupid. But it thankfully wasn’t dragged out too much. And I really liked the way the hero reacted to the situation. I do wish that her ex had a better comeuppance.

Overall, this was a light and sometimes funny book. I liked the MCs, and the side characters.

Safe; no virgins, heroine is in a relationship right at the start and catches her bf cheating, she immediately goes off and has sex with his boss (the hero). This could probably be considered cheating on her part since she never officially broke up with her boyfriend. But she certainly never even entertained giving him a chance to stay together and breaks up immediately afterwards and moves out of their shared home. Not many details given about the hero, no ow drama, some OM drama from heroine’s ex, no scenes with om/ow, no cheating between MCs.

3.8 stars.

I liked it but also I was puzzled by some aspects.

This woman finds out her boyfriend has been cheating on her while she’s at his work party. She immediately finds his boss who proceeds to take her to his office and f*** her every which way.

This felt like fantasy wish fulfillment. She thinks “he screwed my coworker, I’d like to up the ante and screw his boss”. And she does. And the boss is not only amenable but pursues her. He kinda makes sure she is single and okay to mingle… but kinda doesn’t. She makes a cryptic remark about her boyfriend, but he doesn’t ask her much of anything.

I could see how sensitive readers might be weirded out by how they get together before she’s completely broken with her boyfriend.

Also, they never use birth control or even discuss it. It’s super weird because they go from strangers to screwing each other constantly and never have a real convo about potential diseases or pregnancy. It’s especially strange considering her boyfriend has been cheating on her and she never gets tested.

If you can get over these two things, it’s a pretty fun read.

Another thing was it seemed pretty amazing for them to just roll right into a serious relationship. There’s not a lot of bonding on page (other than a lot of sex). He calls her slut and whore during sexy times. I don’t really like it but I can live with it. And lastly, the third act breakup felt dumb. Like she acted petulant about everything.

But mostly, this story was a good time. She grows, a little… they share some stuff with each other a little… they have a lot of sex… and her ex boyfriend is a douchebag and she’s done done with him without turning back.

I couldn’t help but compare it to Tis the Season for Revenge due to the revenge plot (tho this book is pretty loose on that). The boss is in on the revenge part in this book which makes it feel better. And while he goes alpha during the first sexy time, it didn’t feel quite so out of place.

I like that she has a job she likes and friends who love her. I also like that she gets therapy.

The hero seemed pretty awesome and supportive of her. He pretty much likes her right away and just keeps liking her. There’s a 12-year age gap.

Your Boss Says Hi is the story of Oakley Durant and Hollis Nyx. It is a revenge sex story. Oakley is at her boyfriend’s work picnic when she finds out that he has been having sex with one of her coworkers. To get even with him, she decided to have sex with his boss. It was awkward and hilarious leading up to it which keeps you involved because you wonder if it’s really gonna happen. When it finally does, there is so much steam it will fog all of the windows in his office. As the story goes on, we see her ex-boyfriend for the @$$hat that he is which makes it super easy to root for Oakley and Hollis from the very beginning. This book was full of laughter and steam that I couldn’t stop reading. I can’t wait to read more!!! This was my first book by Indie and I don’t know why I waited so long!!

Eeeek fluffy romcom with spice

I absolutely adored this.
I've been reading soo much dark romance i needed something light, fluffy, Funny, and spicy. Indie Sparks delivered. I can't tell you how many times I was giggling out loud or cackling due to her. Add in some of the very Relatable bits of trauma and ooof. Perfection.

Plot 4.8 🌟

If you like highly relatable character's that have a lack of brain to mouth filters or quirkiness that makes you laugh with them not at them, then this is a Must Read for you!

I can't even truly begin to express how much fun it was to read this book honestly. The whole premise of this book pulled me in and once I started it, I just didn't want to stop reading it. These characters were absolutely ones that I loved from the start and need more of as the story continues. I was laughing through most of it with the antics of Oakley's craziness. I mean when the MMC is referred to as "Daddy Thick Thighs" you know it's gonna be an epic book to read. I will say yes there is a lot of fun moments in this book but there are definitely a lot of self acceptance and healing for Oakley in her journey to finding a real love this time around.

This book dives into the "what would you do when you find out your lack luster boyfriend has cheated on you with a new coworker of all the things he could possibly do?!" Well you definitely don't start a fight at his company's employee picnic, no what you do is totally hookup with his extremely hot boss as a nice send off to him lol. That leads to a lot of hot steamy and kinky moments between Oakley and Hollis. What may have started as a little revenge blooms into a fast paced attraction and feelings starting to form just as quickly.

I loved the side characters of her best friend Nadine, Garth her crazy coworker and her bosses Jonna and Pepper they all bring something to the table as the story unfolds. This group of characters were ones you would definitely want in your corner when things get rough or you need the hard truth. I loved every one of them.

I had the pleasure of reading this book early and man it did not disappoint in the least. I absolutely loved it and couldn't put it down. This author brought some of the best and relatable characters out in this book. If you need a pick me up or mood change this is a great book to grab because it's fun and full of hot/spicy moments with a unlikely love story mixed in. If you like age gap romance, fun and sexy moments, and a bunch of amazing characters then this is your book! It definitely hits all the things you want in a book. I highly recommend it for all readers. I can't wait for the next book to drop because like I said these are characters you just can't help but love and want more of!

Steam: 4/5 Strong Language: 3.5/5 Characters: 4.5/5 Plot: 4.5/5

Triggers: Emotional Abu$e & Manipulation, Neglectful Parenting

This is the first book in Indie Sparks' Vengeful Vixens series. It can be read as a standalone and ends with a HEA.

Oakley is out with her boyfriend when he gets a picture message that no partner wants to see - another woman in all her glory, spread across his screen. The sputtering jacka$$ attempts to try to pin the blame on her lack of qualities as a girlfriend, and Oakley decides to grab her six shooter and show him how the west was really won - good old fashioned Revenge. Lucky for her, his ex-football star boss, Hollis, likes the way Oakley sits in a saddle and graciously offers to give her a ride. Cowgirl style...and several other positions.

What ensues is a series of humorous give and takes and a whole lot of steamy encounters between the two that are enjoyable to read. This is a fun romantic comedy with the perfect amount of angst and heat thrown in to keep from being sweet and cute. You root for Oakley because we've all had that moment where we let someone made us feel 'less than' our true value. You're proud of the self-love journey she takes throughout the book. You cheer for Hollis, not because he's rich or famous, but because he builds up and stands by his woman. You fangirl for Nadine and Gareth because you wish they were your besties too.

This is a great breakup read but an even better Annie Get Your Gun and Take No Prisoners Read. Kudos to the author.

Hollis sexy as sin and boy oh boy that grin...

Oakley the girl that is dumped and decides to come out and play- aka Revenge Sex is Sweet.

This tale grips you from the very start and the writing is wonderfully refreshing. Dialogue cutting, super funny and also real... so very true to life.

I really loved that, even though Hollis was a hot as hades ex-football player (and, don't forget, gazillionaire), he has a sweet heart. The relationship from start to HEA is fast but its real and the reader, well I, accepted that it can and did happen. I wasn't sitting there going 'yeah sure' I was going 'yeah this is great'

These two characters smoked up the page and the connection was made, and made believably by Author Indie Sparks, instantly.
Best Friend Nadine was a great sidekick and even though she had only a little part here I cannot wait to see her in her own story. Christain the snake of an ex, the villian, just didn't stop I wanted to punch him out haha. Oakley's mom and Christian- match made in heaven!

Looking forward to reading more of Indies Spark(ler)s ;)

After a nasty breakup, every girl deserves to have a good time with someone like Hollis. He can take her to new heights and make her forget about her past mistakes, including her ex. This thought resonated with me, and the delivery of the story was excellent. Both main characters are likable, and their interactions are easy and smooth. The smut is balanced with emotional depth, which adds layers to their relationship.

Hollis teaches her to trust that she deserves only the best, and Oakley learns that he never felt good enough for his own father. These shared experiences create a common ground between them, allowing them to understand each other on a deeper level and become whole together.

As someone who can relate to Oakley's independence, I understand that she did not expect anything lasting from Hollis, given their social and financial differences. I also can understand that he already gave her more than she expecting helping her discover her own self-worth and happiness in life. While I didn't mind the happy ending for the characters, I also appreciated that it was not overly sugarcoated and they stayed true to themselves. Normally, I would rate this book with 4 stars, but after row of annoying books, I feel generous.

A nice, fun, steamy read.

After discovering her bf is cheating on her, Oakley finds comfort/revenge with his super sexy boss.

One hot encounter turns intro dinner, turns into 3, and so on.

Christian, the ex, is a true narcissist, turns out he's been putting Oakley down for years. He keeps trying to get her back, saying he'll forgive her!

Hollis is too yummy. Built from his NFL days, slightly dominant in bed, likes to be called sir... And she likes calling him sir.

No one believes her though who she's dating, least of all Christian, until he walks in on them making out in Hollis' office and calls her a whore.

Obviously, hollis defends her, but he does it by firing him... And Oakley is too good to let that happen. And cue first fight.

Gotta hand it to hollis though, he didn't sit on it, was there the next day, and organised am event through her company to make sure she couldn't leave and listen.

The mother was a piece of work, the best friend is great, funny, her bosses and Co worker are more her friends.

There was just something that didn't drag my full force into the story. The writing style or it felt like things could have gone deeper.

Going into this story, I thought there was going to be more angst. It ended up being a cute MF story. The series is Vengeful Vixens… well… more the FMC finding her HEA, than vengefulness I found… but I’m OK with it. Oakley catches her boyfriend cheating, and right away we find out he’s a class A- something not nice that I can’t write in a review… haha… I have no sympathy what so ever for him. He’s manipulative, and I’m rooting for the FMC right out of the gate. There’s a brief stint where she thinks the perfect act would be to get with her ex’s boss for reasons I won’t disclose, but that quickly backfires, and we lose all sense of vengefulness, and its like she wasn’t even in a relationship before. Hollis is pretty much perfect. And one wonders why he was single. I guess when I saw the title and the description I thought there would be some more angst… i liked that the FMC didn’t use Hollis for his money, and really just fell for who he was immediately. All in all, a quick cute read with some funny dialogue. I enjoyed Oakley and Hollis’s relationship

This was told in single POV
4/5 overall
3/5 spice
2/5 humor
1/5 emotional

This was amazing! I loved the characters and the story. It had amazing world building and plot.
The gaslighting from the ex though - I enjoyed when she put him in his place. But in the elevator when she said 'Your boss says hi' hahaha I laughed yelling 'yeah girl' lmao

The next book is about Nadine (her BFF) and I'm kinda wanting to know what happened to Jayce who was her beau in this book. He is not mentioned in the summary for her book and they seemed so happy together in this. It was mentioned that she doesn't do serious only 1 nights so I'm wondering when did she go from him to the guy mentioned?

The chapter titles had cute or funny phrases. I always LOVE LOVE when authors do this. Most authors don't do that though, but when I get ones that do I always get super excited. I have to stop myself from reading them all on the title page >.<

Where do I start with this…

Oakley is a fantastic FMC, she is wronged and instead of falling into despair she takes control of her life. She may fall into her ex’s boss’s bed along the way but who wouldn’t with Hollis ‘daddy thick thighs’ Nyx.

Hollis is a great example of non-toxic masculinity he supports Oakley and never stands in her way. He gives her a safe space to grow and explore her own desires.

This is a fast burn but still manages to give you a good plot where you can enjoy the characters journey of self discovery. But those spicy scenes will get you hot under the collar, I mean I’ll never look at butterscotch pudding in quite the same way and poor monk-monk (IYKYK 😉)

Nadine is a fantastic supportive best friend to Oakley and I can’t wait to read her story in the next book.

I thought this could be a fun revenge read, but honestly I didn’t really the main characters.

Oakley was so annoying to me and I couldn’t connect with for most of the book; I did like her when she was putting her cheating ex, Christian, in his place. I couldn’t really tell if I liked Hollis or not since he wasn’t really featured in an in-depth way, he was basically the sexy billionaire with sexpertise.

The book focused mostly on the sex between Oakley and Hollis and really nothing else when they were together; it was all sex all the time which is fine because that’s what they signed up for, but then we are supposed to believe they fell in love with no relationship building what so ever.

Even the “break-up” that occurred between Hollis and Oakley didn’t make sense to me.

Oakley started her “relationship” with Hollis to piss off Christian and then got mad when her revenge plan worked. This book was short yet I found myself skipping pages just to hurry it along because I just couldn’t stand Oakley’s drama, her bestie, Nadine, was awesome.

Wow! I started this book thinking it would be a quick, fun, spicy read, and it was all of those things. But it also made me snort laugh, smile at the beautiful friendship between Oakley and Nadine, and sweat from the spice...and had me reconsidering what I want from a steamy book. Sexy times? Sure. But this was a true romance as well, one filled with such real moments, both in and out of bed, and my heart went pitter-patter more than once. Sparks made these characters utterly believable, and I want more!
The writing is sharp and clean, the dialogue punchy, the steam hot enough for a Texas gal, and the humor was the perfect cherry on top! 10/10 would recommend, 5 stars.

Revenge hookup turned HEA

Let me start by saying that this book started spicy and only hot hotter from there.

Your Boss Says Hi! might be my new revenge trope favorite. Seriously. While the spice is HIGH so is the emotional growth for the FMC, and that’s something I really like to see.

Learning to let go of shame and find one’s self is such an important thing in life, and Indie managed to put that on page for us here.

With a swoon worthy hero, fantastic (and absolutely hilarious) best friend and coworkers, real emotions, and oodles of spice.. I will absolutely say that you should read this book. Right now.

Being that Indie Sparks is a brand new author to me I was honestly not sure what to expect when I first sat down and started reading .but before I knew it I was completely Hooked and on the edge of my seat anticipating what would happen next . I tend to read a lot of Dark romances so it’s not often I come across a book that has me smiling the whole way through. Well your boss says Hi - did just that and more . It’s fun , and sexy as well as humorous and angsty , it’s filled with witty banter , unexpected surprises and lots of steam . I have definitely found myself a new favorite author

I definitely thought that this would be a one track mind for revenge on some level. Hoping she is getting some well earned spite at her ex, but it was also so much more! I love Oakley's sassy and sarcastic personality. She makes me wish I was more like her. Her taste in men definitely improves too, making this hot, hot, HOT! I definitely recommend this intensely hot and amazing story that is realistically dream worthy and the man is realistically drool worthy! I can't wait for more from this author and series!!

I wanted something naughty and the title of this one spoke to me ^^ The reviews convinced me and i dived in... And honestly it's not really what i expected. I wasn't a fan of the characters, they had chemistry only in bed but i didn't feel the love or deep attraction. The book is not long at all but i was counting the pages until the end. There are bits of wisdom sprinkled out of nowhere (the tone seem a bit light flighty fun). Anyway i didn't really get into it despite the potential so maybe it's a "not you but me" situation

So fun! Your Boss Says Hi! Is the first book of the Vengeful Vixens series by Indie Sparks and it is so much fun.

💜 bad break up
💜 terrible ex
💜 tight friendship circle
💜 age gap
💜 🌶🌶🌶🌶spicy spice

Oakley is out FMC and she finds out at her boyfriend’s company picnic that he’s been cheating on her. So what’s a girl to do, but get more margaritas and plan on revenge hook up. And revenge hook up she does, right with his boss…..in his office…..during the company picnic. The rest? Well you just need to read this to find out. But, make sure you do as you don’t want to miss this fun story.

My new favorite couple.

Hollis and Oakley are hot from the very beginning. But there is a story here. Two people and TBE only thing they have in common are their less than stellar.parents. But they are good people with great friends to help over the rough spots.
I loved the tone and pace of this story. They talk and share what they like and don't like, and about the life experiences that made them the people they are today. I smiled and laughed out loud and enjoyed the neck out of this book.
I very much look forward to the next one. 😁

Loved this book! It was a perfect palate cleanser for me. After finding out her boyfriend is cheating on her, Oakley decides to get over him, while being railed by someone else...his boss! Alas, it becomes less of a vengeful plot when Oakley and Hollis have more than a one night/day connection. I love Hollis' dirty talk, and how he encourages Oakley to say what she wants, and to try new things, without pushing her. And the spice... is unreal. Definitely a 5 star read for me!

Revenge has never been so sweet!

This was a delightfully funny read, with so much steam it’ll fog your windows! It had me hooked, and laughing, from the very beginning.

Oakley is a unique heroine, with plenty of self doubt that makes her feel realistic. Hollis is exactly the right kind of bossy for her.

The story is low angst, and very easy to read. The writing is fantastic, with obviously careful editing.

It’s absolutely a five star read, and side splittingly funny!

Excellente

That and oui are about the only two French words I know, unless you include French fries, and this was an excellent read. Perfect length and pace. Great settings and characters. I kept waiting for some crazy conflict to arrive with the ex-boyfriend long before it happened, and the angst until it arrived was on point, not to little, not to much. I'll be looking for my next read from Indie. Thanks for this one.
