The plot is full of unexpected twists that maintain intrigue at all times, and the main character, Rick Malone, is a charismatic and complex detective. The narrative is fast and addictive, making it difficult to put the book down. Williams creates a dark and dangerous atmosphere that grabs you and doesn't let go until the last page.

It's an exciting read that will keep you on the edge of your seat, and Russell Williams proves to be a master of the genre. This book is a clear example of his ability to weave exciting stories that keep the reader glued to its pages.
Under Fire: A Hard Boiled Crime Thriller is an attractive short story written by Russell Williams. It is the second book of the Rick Malone Short Story series but it is possible to read it as an independent story. With the detective Rick Malone as the protagonist, the plot tells how he infiltrates a dangerous criminal organization while trying to stay alive and get justice. It is entertaining and full of action. This is a really short story; so much so, that I read it all almost without noticing it. I liked very much how the main character is developed because he is not a "cute and delicate hero" but instead, he has a strong character and personality. I recommend it for lovers of crime and suspense stories.
The Mendez crime organization took a big hit when the FBI confiscated a giant warehouse of illegal guns, orchestrated by Special Agent Tom Woods and Detective Sergent Rick Malone. In the process, the son of Toni Mendez (head of the family) died, and now he's after revenge. After kidnapping Woods's son and planning to kill him, the only man capable of rescuing him is Rick Malone. I really enjoyed the writing of Russell Williams; Under Fire is a thriller following the Rick Malone series. The suspense and action this book contains keep the reader interested until the end and, being a short book, it is one of those books to eat up in an afternoon, pure action and not dreadful at all
This is the second installment of this gripping thriller that has really gripped me from the very beginning. It is an easy but intense read and its characters are so well defined that, with simple sentences and descriptions, the reader can get to know them and get a clear mental picture. I will definitely read more by this author and will continue with the end of the series. Under Fire is a truly gripping story full of suspense, action, great heroes and very dark characters; all combined in a perfect balance and making this writing a real gem to enjoy. I recommend it for young adults, adults and especially for action lovers.
"Under Fire" is a crime thriller that captivated me from the beginning. I think the way the story was presented made me want to know more of how things ended up the way they did, and how things turned up at the end of the book.
It all starts with a vendetta from the mob and things start to escalate quickly from there. I enjoyed the description of the characters that Author Russell Williams wrote. It for sure elevates the storyline and the action in the book.
Overall, a good and entertaining read with a lot going on between the rivalry of these two forces. Great read!
I am used to reading, and I must confess I read way too much, and, even though I read book after book, not so often does a gem like this one emerges. I was totally blown away by how neat the storyline is, and the way the conclusion comes up; I never saw it coming!
This book is unputdownable, I read it just a couple of nights. I believe this was because of the way the author arranged the events since they are mostly tense and this is what keeps one entertained and engaged.
Under Fire is definitely full of action! I can’t wait for the following installments to come out.
