When Megan moves into a new apartment in Yonkers with her 4-year-old son, Josh, it is with the best intentions of making a fresh start, after a terrible ordeal.
However, when Josh makes a new imaginary friend, Megan's dreams of peace fall apart around her, as the nightmares begin.
Almost every night, she is haunted by horrible realistic dreams of brutal torment, followed by strange occurrences during the daytime hours.
The stressful combination of these events turns her life upside down.
Megan realizes she has somehow stumbled upon a decades old local mystery involving a young woman, who mysteriously disappeared without a trace during the summer of 1988, and that is only the beginning!
I am a writer with a few published books, but I have a lot more to write before I'm through. I don't want to be stuck in any one genre, so I am going to branch out little by little with my future books. I hope to entertain many of you with my stories.
O-M-G!!! This has now become one of my favorite books!!! It ties "Marliz", Colleen Stan, the TV shows, the movie, the documentaries, and Jodi Foster's book together in the most perfect way. I am highly impressed. I don't want to give spoilers but there were a few different times in the last parts of the book where I cried. My whirlwind that started with an episode of Unsolved Mysteries and snowballed has come to an end...until "Marliz" gets her justice and peace...
Yes, I know I wrote this book, so it is difficult to be biased. However, I read all my books with an open mind and give my honest opinion. Let's face it, if I thought it sucked, I would not waste money publishing it. I would work on it, until I loved it. I really loved this book! It was inspired by true events, as stated on the cover. While I mainly used two actual stories as inspiration, the main victim that inspired me was named Marie Elizabeth Spannake, who went missing in the 1970s. It is very likely she was abducted and murdered, but her body was never found, so justice has never been served. I was very moved by her story when I learned about it through a person, who was haunted by her spirit, after moving into her old apartment. Jodie Foster, not the actress, moved into Marie's old apartment and experienced a whirlwind of crazy things that I'd rather not get into. I saw her story on a show called "Paranormal Witness," and then read her book, "Forgotten Burial." I owe her many thanks for sharing her experiences. It gave me the idea for this book. I hope you enjoy my spin on the tale, which also has some local flavor added to it, since my story takes place in Yonkers. I added a few homages to Jodie's experiences and Marie's tragic tale, but my story is a work of fiction. Read it and let me know what you think.
Jason Medina’s MEG is a chilling psychological horror that intertwines the fragile hope of a fresh start with the haunting weight of unresolved mysteries. At its heart is Megan, a mother simply seeking peace for herself and her young son after enduring trauma. But when Josh’s new “imaginary friend” ushers in nightmares of brutal torment and inexplicable daytime disturbances, Medina transforms ordinary domestic life into a terrifying descent into the unknown. With atmospheric tension, realistic psychological fear, and the eerie pull of a decades old disappearance, MEG grips readers with equal parts dread and intrigue. It’s a ghost story that’s as much about survival and maternal strength as it is about the horrors that linger in the shadows of the past.
