A graphic novel adapted and illustrated by Raina Telgemeier, the #1 New York Times bestselling, multiple Eisner Award-winning author of Smile ! When The Baby-sitters Club gets into a huge fight, Mary Anne is left to her own devices. She has to eat alone in the school cafeteria, figure out how to make new friends, and deal with her overprotective father. But the worst happens when she finds herself in a baby-sitting emergency and can't turn to her friends for help. Will Mary Anne solve her problems and save The Baby-sitters Club from falling apart?
Ann Matthews Martin was born on August 12, 1955. She grew up in Princeton, New Jersey, with her parents and her younger sister, Jane. After graduating from Smith College, Ann became a teacher and then an editor of children's books. She's now a full-time writer.
Ann gets the ideas for her books from many different places. Some are based on personal experiences, while others are based on childhood memories and feelings. Many are written about contemporary problems or events. All of Ann's characters, even the members of the Baby-sitters Club, are made up. But many of her characters are based on real people. Sometimes Ann names her characters after people she knows, and other times she simply chooses names that she likes.
Ann has always enjoyed writing. Even before she was old enough to write, she would dictate stories to her mother to write down for her. Some of her favorite authors at that time were Lewis Carroll, P. L. Travers, Hugh Lofting, Astrid Lindgren, and Roald Dahl. They inspired her to become a writer herself.
Since ending the BSC series in 2000, Ann’s writing has concentrated on single novels, many of which are set in the 1960s.
After living in New York City for many years, Ann moved to the Hudson Valley in upstate New York where she now lives with her dog, Sadie, and her cats, Gussie, Willy and Woody. Her hobbies are reading, sewing, and needlework. Her favorite thing to do is to make clothes for children.
The baby-sitters club is back and they have more clients than they can handle. But they have a little fight over the jobs and like any other group of friends they get mad at each other and end up not speaking to each other.
This story is told from Mary Anne's perspective. I am loving this series but especially the part that each story is told from a different member's perspective. Mary Anne's mother passed away when she was little and she is being raised by her single father. He is pretty strict as compared to other parents and Mary Anne isn't allowed past 9 pm to stay out even for babysitting.
Meanwhile, the fight keeps getting longer even though Mary Anne tries to cool things but it just doesn't work. Mary Anne meets a new girl, Dawn at school and they find out that Mary Anne's dad and Dawn's mum used to be together. So they plan to bring them together as Dawn's mother is also single now after a divorce. The baby-sitters club end up apologizing to each other and they also get a new member, Dawn for their club.
This is my favorite of the series so far. I loved the story and those illustrations are absolutely amazing.
This was great! A favorite. I love Mary Anne and Dawn being a new girl to the group. Love seeing Mary Anne step up to her Dad and let him know how she was feeling and the stuff the girls uncovered from her Dad and Dawn's mom - super sweet. The Baby-sitter club girls got into a huge fight so Mary Ann eats alone in the cafeteria and finds a new friend in Dawn.
Mary Anne's mama passing away when she was little and her father as a single father is a great layer that many kids could relate to.
This is all about a shy girl who saves the day -- and shows kids how important it is to forgive, apologize and help others. We also saw an emergency arise and how the kids handled it was great.
I really like the Baby- Sitters club. This one is very good also. I like how it is made and in my opinion the graphic illustrations are professional. I think this is worth reading. It is very interesting. I read a copy of this book from my school library, I chose it because I realised that my classmates really liked this series. I absolutely recommend it.
Eu realmente gosto do clube Baby-Sitters. Eu absolutamente recomendo.
This book is about a shy girl saving the day. I really liked this book because this girl is shy but she can stand up for herself to. You should read the serie books because if you like babysitting and you need tips or you like to read about a friend group.
Mary Anne and the Baby-Sitters Club struggle to keep their business running in the midst of a dramatic fight between the group. Mary Anne matures throughout the story and, with the help of a new friend, helps bring the group back together.
Curricular Connections: Elements of drama; character emotions; dialogue; setting; conflict/resolution; character motivations.
I love how we see the realistic struggles how friendships can have their own problems and struggles, the way Mary Anne grew way more confident with herself and learned to navigate new friendships. 🧸😭🫶🏻

I felt like this book had a good message in it. That fighting with friends is easy, and sometimes it's even okay, but finding away to make up and forgive one another is a sign that you're true friends.

Another cute adaptation of the series. I enjoyed it even if, reading it as an adult, I was a little bothered that in the end they all were saying haha I barely remember why we were fighting, instead of them all apologizing to each other.

The main plot in this story, told from Mary Anne's point of view, is that a big fight breaks out between the four members of the Baby-Sitters Club, and none of them are on speaking terms with each other. A few attempts to work it out go wrong for various reasons, and the quality of their work begins to suffer as they close in on an upcoming birthday party that they are all expected to work together.
The main plot here, is a bit generic, and it's the least interesting thing going on in the book. Mary Anne makes a new friend, Dawn, who's new in town and discovers a connection between Dawn's mom and her dad. She also confronts her dad about his overprotective side, handles a genuine emergency on a babysitting job, and even changes her hairstyle.
The character development for Dawn is great, and so are a bunch of the small moments involving interactions with supporting characters. Raina Telgemeier has done a great job bringing Ann M. Martin's setting to life, and all of the small details really give the story some extra sparkle.
This book is about Marianne and how she saved the day. First she got a babysitting job that she wasn't supposed to take because she didn't let anyone else answer the phone cuz they just wanted her. That's not allowed in the club but your anyway then when she went to the house little girl is sick. She tried calling everyone she knew including the parents no one responded so she had to call 911 when she called 911 they got ambulance and took her to the hospital. When I got to the house to put all the doctors were communicated like a girl like a boy so Mary stood up for the little girl and asked for a pink down not blue and for them to treat her the way she is. Then the squad congratulated her and what not her anymore and she apologized for everything and her dad have more trust in her abilities now.
This book is an awesome book, especially for middle grade. ( 5 )
In this book, there is a small little fight between Mary Anne and her friends, where Mary Anne says a lots of things to her friends that makes them feel upset. She makes a new friend Dawn, who is very helpful and has a heart of a lion ( is brave ). Mary Anne faces many problems with her friends and family, where she tries to be courageous and smart. She apologizes to her friends with a lot of tries, and finally they becomes friends, and this is how Mary Anne saves the day. Also, Dawn, Mary Anne's new friends joins the baby - sitters club and becomes a part of it. I really enjoyed reading this book. This book is more likely about friendships and family problems. I like this book a lot.
The babysitters club is in turmoil, the members aren't speaking to each other. They ignore each other at school, they fight when they are together. Can the club survive with them fighting? It gets harder and harder to take jobs when they aren't communicating. Finding herself alone at lunch Mary Anne meets Dawn and they become friends. When Mary Anne is baby sitting and runs into trouble she needs help and Dawn is the one who comes to her rescue. This is a turning point for Mary Anne. She becomes determined to either end the club or get the girls back together again.
I nearly vomited while reading. Everyone is horrendously petty for over 100 pages, and Raina Telgemier's repulsive art style certainly doesn't help matters. In fact, I hate this book so much that in the sixth grade, I wrote an entire monologue, detailing everything I disliked about this pile of crap. I'm sorry if that was uncivil, but this book deserves nothing less. 1/5 would give it 0/5 if I could. My least favorite book of all time. Come on, Ann M. Martin. You wrote Rain Reign, which is around 8000x better than this. You can do better.

It felt like clickbait for books, yes Mary Anne figures out a way to all get back together but really the title feels fake. I've been reading this series for many years now but out of all the books this is the one I dislike most, mostly because when I first bought it I thought maybe she would do something a little more...heroic. But other than that Its a great book that I highly recommend!

I think that this one was one of my favorites that I have read of the BSC. I personally have dealt with friendship drama and struggled to solve it. This book shows how a girl took initiative and solved her friend groups drama. This story also shows that it is okay to have separate problems and keep some quiet, but some if you think they might affect your relationship you might want to open up. Overall, I would recommend this yarn to women and girls struggling in relationships and handling multiple things all at once.
I really enjoyed this 3rd book in the graphic novel series as it talks about some realistic and difficult situations that tweens can be experiencing in their lives. The girls have a huge fight and the group breaks up and Mary Anne has to learn how to stand up for herself and be a leader, while gaining a new friend along the way. She helps mend the relationship with a little advice from Claudia’s grandma, Mimi, and then end up adding a new member to the baby-sitter’s club, Dawn.
I loved this , Mary Anne is my favorite character mainly because I relate to her , losing your mum so early although I lost mine at 18 but still being raised by a single parent is never easy for both the parent and you. Also fighting with your best friends and feeling so isolated , literally one of my worst fears but in the end it all worked out and I love that
