Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: heroine in peril, age gap
Angst: 😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Absolutely FLOVED it - my favorite Syndicates novel yet! The Syndicates series has been favorite of mine, but none so much as Haruaki, which is book 3. It seems fitting that it's Kenji, Haruaki's right hand man, that finally usurps him as my Cala Riley fave of all time. Miya is a girl that's been hiding out. She caught a break with her employer and her circumstances, despite having a hate/hate with her overbearing boss, Kenji, her boss at a Chicago area Yakuza casino, which offered her a safe place to flourish. But dead bodies are starting to pop up around the city and Miya may have to confide in her temperamental boss in order to keep everyone safe.

Kenji is filled with fantastic writing and characters that completely draw you in. The chemistry between Kenji and Miya is what hooks you in from page one, but it's followed up with a complete rollercoaster of a ride of non-stop action, some devastating losses, and some bigger emotional wins. There is tons of witty banter between the brat and her overbearing boss that will having you laughing out loud. In addition to the laughs, there were also some tears shed, but I went away with a huge smile on my face. Seriously, just a fantastic read in what's ben a fabulous series. I'm REALLY hoping we get a book for silent Kado as well who totally deserves his HEA too!!

Loved it

"Some would say it’s the voice of the devil, but I know the truth. It’s the voice of the only man in this world who would burn it down to save me."

This was such a great book, it has a chunk of spicy scenes with that hint of danger full of twists and bodies dropping around Miya. Kenji and Miya have such a strong attraction it's impossible not to notice from the beginning. I couldn't put this book down.

These authors can write! Dang, I was instantly sucked in to the story and was captivated from the first page until the last. The story was packed full of steam, action and emotion. My heart hurt, my kitty was feeling the heat and
Kenji and Miya were perfection!

I want a Kenji for myself. He can be a bit, okayyy, a lot possessive, but damn when he loves he loves hard. She brought out the fun in him and he helped tame her in the best of ways. She was bratty, independent and knew what she wanted. She had to put herself first to survive. The banter between these two was top notch. Sexual tension to the max!

Not only do we get the amazing storyline of these two, with the addition of some characters from past books... we get a dark twist when crimes start occurring too close to home. They escalate in proximity, crazy and brutality. It's a no brainer for Kenji to keep her close, to protect her at all costs. Miya disobeys quite often when it comes to his commands and tends to pay for it in some of the most pleasurable ways! Hot, hot, hot!

Please, please let Kado get his own book! I freaking LOVE him!!! You fall for him too, I dare you!

Kenji is the seventh book in The Syndicates series and features Miya and Kenji. I have no idea where this writing duo has been all my life but they have written a spectacular romance.

Miya has been on the run for quite some time and managed to find herself in a wonderful position working for Kenji at a Chicago Yakuza casino. She finds Kenji bossy and dominating but she also can’t help but be attracted to the broody leader.

Kenji has alway known that Miya carries secrets and when dead bodies start popping up around her and he’s convinced she may be a target, he takes matters into his own hands. Kenji not only wants to protect the fiery beauty but he also wants her in his bed.

“I’m not scared to tell you my secrets, little one. Just know that when I do, they don’t come free and once you know them, you’ll never be able to escape me. Now scurry away before I decide I want to eat you for lunch.”

Miya is running from something that could put everyone in danger so she is hesitant to accept Kenji’s protection. Her heart and head are always at war and it’s only a matter of time where she may not have an option but to accept his help and give in to the lust she feels.

“Keep lying to yourself all you want. You gave me your body back there. That was only the first step. By the time I’m done with you, you will be mine completely. Body, mind, heart, and soul. We will be one and you will never think about another again.”

Will Miya and Kenji be able to weather the storm ahead and come out on top? This whole story was filled with action, suspense, great banter, and steamy moments that will leave you swooning. Miya was, at times, frustrating with her uncertainty of Kenji when he never gave her a reason to doubt him but I did adore how she finally realized and acknowledged her feelings.

“It took me a while to get a clear picture, but now that I have one, I know who you are.”
“Who is that?” he whispers against my lips.
“You’re mine.”
He growls. “I am, and you are mine.”

Kenji was all alpha male but it was more subtle in some ways. He let Miya be the independent woman she fought to become but also stepped in when he felt like she needed him. I loved their banter and their chemistry.

“Being mine means that you are the single most important person in my life. I will always put you above everyone else, even myself. It means that when it comes down to it I will die in order for you to live.”

Kenji was such a good read with a great plot and a passionate romance with MCs that you’ll love. Now I am going back and reading the other books in this series!

Ok, this was a bit better story than Book 6, Callum, in terms of more tension between the leads, some original elements on the mafia business and a mildly interesting thriller background (warning: quite gory, and loss of well liked secondary characters). Where it felt flat, was the characterisation of the h, Miya, for whom I did not care much. Also, the sex scenes, while original were not my yum. I don't know why I persisted with the series when I was so disappointed with Book 6. It was not a bad book, but really nothing like Haruaki. I think I will pass on future books.

Kenji by Cala Riley is a slow burn romance that centers on capo Kenji Ono and waitress Rachelle Smith.

I loved how the side characters' deaths were what gave the book a more realistic feel, despite the angst and sadness they caused. Also, the fact that Kenji and Rachelle had such strong chemistry right away but chose not to act on it really made it better because they were both holding back, which added to the anticipation of it all. Can we also talk about how protective Kenji was of Rachelle? He truly was down bad for her and would go to any lengths to protect her, despite his
"bad boy" persona.

Although, I was promised a enemies-to-lovers and a hate-to-love relationship, when there was none of it; rather, they seemed more like “friends” who hardly liked one another and would argue constantly.

In all, Cala delivered what she promised, or at least most it, and did not disappoint.

*Thank you to Grey's Promotions and to the author, Cala Riley, for providing me with this e-are in exchange for an honest review.*

I am so in love with Cala Riley’s mafia men! Every single time they bring it but deliver us a completely different type of guy and a completely different heroine but still manage to make me fall in love with all of them and Kenji and Miya were no different.

Kenji is Miya’s boss and he’s SO possessive and I was here for it! But Miya didn’t take that lying down. She gave back every bit of sass and kept Kenji on his toes. The sexual chemistry is explosive between them!

If you love
💜Mafia
💜Brat/brat tamer
💜One bed
💜Touch her and you 💀
💜Boss/employee
💜Mystery and suspense
💜possessive alpha

Then you need to check out Kenji!

I’m dying to get my hands on Kado’s book!

Miya and Kenji found their way deep into my heart forever and always. I love them to pieces I cannot even, they're simply *chef's kiss* 🤌🏼💋 I was so damn obsessed with them and their story; the possessiveness, banter, intensity, ✨️ incredibly ✨️ hot steam and then also raw feelings had me completely in love, I seriously never wanted it to end!

Miya is one badass queen 👸, she loves to push all Kenji's buttons, is bratty as heck and makes him fight for her attention 🤭 but also is insecure sometimes and very vulnerable, and I adore her! 🥺💕

And oh boy, I'm utterly WEAK for Kenji's possessiveness and the way he pleases Miya hehe! 😌 He is also sweet, caring and stops at nothing to keep his girl safe and protected! The perfect man right there, am I right? 🫠🩶

Their story also had me so emotional and some tears were shed. If I was completely obsessed with the book before, my love just went up tenfold after that! I thought nothing could beat the way I adored Cleo and Kai but I gotta say these two went to the top couple in the series so far with ease! But damn if there is ever a book for Kado I might have to rethink everything!

“I would rather have you fight me every single day until the end of time than go a single second without you in my life.”

This is the sixth book in The Syndicates series and I couldn’t put this book down. I’m obsessed with the series and I love how each one is a standalone. This writing duo never disappoints with their books.

Miya manages the girls at the Currency casino where she has been working since she was 17. Kenji is the 2nd in command in the Yakuza and he also runs the Currency. Miya and Kenji have been working together for years and definitely have a love/hate relationship. Miya is constantly yells and argues with Kenji but he always lets her get away with it and if it was anyone else they would be dead. Kenji been in love with Miya for years but he won’t go anything about it until she comes to him. But when murders being to happen all over the city and all the victims have a resemblance to Miya, Kenji will stop at nothing to keep her safe. Miya thought she has finally outrun her past but it looks like it’s right at her door. Will she run again or will she finally let Kenji in and let him protect her?
Their chemistry was undeniable whenever they were in a room together and when they finally gave in they were explosive. They definitely didn’t disappoint in the spicy department, I mean that office scene was everything🥵. I love how possessive he was of Miya and how he took care of her even when she was a brat. And I love how Miya beings to open ups and becomes free even after all the things she been through and the the ones she lost along the way. I love all their moments together from the fighting to them just being together but I also enjoyed their relationship with the other characters. This book has a bit of everything drama, suspense, action, loss, and romance.
I can’t wait for the Dimitri’s book.

I would recommend if you like:
💜Mafia romance
💜Boss Employee
💜Age gap
💜Possessive Hero
💜Tragic Past
💜Steamy Scenes 🔥

Some would say it’s the voice of the devil, but I know the truth. It’s the voice of the only man in this world who would burn it down to save me.
***

This has been, by far, my favorite I have read of the series. Kenji was everything. Loved his dominating personality and his love for Miya. A love that she had no idea about for years. That man has some amazing will power to resist her for so long.

But with this story came all the feels. I hurt, I laughed, and I even cried. I couldn’t believe how attached I got to some of the secondary characters before the floor was dropped out beneath me. So much pain and sadness in this one. The emotions will really grip you throughout.

Cala Riley did another amazing job and blew this story out of the water. From start to finish you will be hooked. The story will captivate you, the romance will leave you twisted, and when it’s over you will be sad there isn’t more. 5 Stars.

I think this one takes the cake for my favorite in the series so far! The detail put into Miya’s backstory and the dynamics of her and Kenji’s relationship were so well done! Again the sprinkling of past couples throughout the story made it so much better! Miya’s relationship building with her guards was lovely - I think she’s my favorite FMC for this series, her attitude is highly relatable - and the banter between her and Kenji had me giggling! LOVED IT!

Holy hell!!! I have been waiting to read this book, and I was definitely not disappointed. I was hooked from start to finish and just like every book by these authors, I read it in one sitting.

Miya, she has a past...one filled with pain, so much pain and when she is faced with the most heartbreaking moment in her life, she is told to do one thing, 𝐑𝐔𝐍. She goes from one place to the next and she finds herself working at the Currency casino, for Kenji.

Kenji, holy smokes this guy 🔥🥵. When he first met Miya, he instantly knew something was different about her, he denied letting her do the job she came for, but he gave her an opportunity to clean the hotel, and later made her a manager.

As the years went by, Kenji became even more protective off Miya, but she never realised just how much he cared, but when someone starts going on a killing spree, and all clues start leading to Miya being this persons obsession/target, Kenji does everything he can to protect his "𝓌ℴ𝓂𝒶𝓃"

The chemistry was off the freaken charts, it was steamy as hell with 𝓈ℴ 𝓂𝒶𝓃𝓎 𝒻𝓇ℯ𝒶𝓀ℯ𝓃 heartbreaking moments and twists and turns I didn't see coming(ℴ𝓃ℯ 𝒾𝓃 𝓅𝒶𝓇𝓉𝒾𝒸𝓊𝓁𝒶𝓇, 𝒾𝓉 𝓌𝒶𝓈 😪)...freaken page turner.

disappointing after the wait

Kenji was not alpha like the others. He rolled over for Miya each time. Also, to be a supposed too dog assassin people sure did the drop on him. 🙄 I actually didn’t like the fmc at all. Irrational, kept saying don’t treat me like a child proceeded to act like a child. No logic behind her reactions. Just really unlikeable vibe from her. It was a struggle to finish because of her. Ended up skimming a lot.
Overall? If I had known the book was like this I would have only read if it I was realllllllyyyy bored and nothing else was in my to be read list….. Yawns and irritation were my only reactions. 🥱

I've lead a rough, but fulfilling life. That all changed when she walked into my casino. Miya Johnson. She knows how to press every single one of my buttons to get me riled. I should stay away from her, but when an unknown stalker starts leaving blood presents throughout Chicago, it leaves me wondering what secrets she's hiding?

If you like a book boyfriend with a dirty mouth then Kenji is your man. This book is so good. I was sucked in to it and loved every single second of it. He is a quiet guy who is dark and mysterious and I just loved that about him. When Miya walks into one of the casino's owned by his family he is taken with her and she hires her to work there. She is mysterious and running from her past. She is not one to let anyone get to close to her either. However she is a really warm and caring person at the core, hard working, and always takes care of the people working for her. Kenji though as you will learn has this super possessive side. See told you perfect book boyfriend. However Miya isn't so much all about the possessive nature of him. She doesn't want someone making decisions for her and certainly not telling her what to do. However they have some amazing chemistry and you can feel the tension between them just melting off the pages. However when she starts getting little bloody gifts left on her doorstep he knows that she is keeping big secrets. Can she trust him to let him in. And him to keep her safe? You have to read to find out. This book is absolutely amazing and I love every single second of it.

If you are looking for a suspense-filled, workplace romance that has a bada$$ MFC and a dark and mysterious MMC who is really a softie, well Kenji is definitely the book for you. Being the seventh book in the Cala and Riley The Syndicates series, you have been introduced to Kenji in previous books and he is just as mysterious. Cala and Riley will always deliver a book that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat as well as having your heart stop beating and falling in love with the characters. Kenji and Miya are just those characters. The two of them have this hate-to-love, employer-employee relationship that comes volatile but is it just all the sexual tension that has been building for years? Miya came to Kenji for a job when she was seventeen but he knew he could not turn her away. Feelings for her grew to the point that Kenji is all about her safety and is fixated on her and bound and determined to keep her safe and all his. The problem is that Miya will not have anything to do with him. First, he is her employer and second the girls will not respect her at work. When women start showing up dead and they happen to have the same features as Miya, Kenji is determined to find out who this person is and why they are focusing on Miya. His sole purpose is to keep her safe but there is only one way to do it. No problem, right? Well, Miya has a very different view of the way he can keep her safe. Will she finally give in and realize that there is more there than she wants to accept?

Although this book is full of suspense, I did shed a tear or two. I truly loved this book and I have to say that have been waiting a long time for Kenji's story. He has intrigued me since the first time he was introduced. Miya is his perfect soulmate as well as his equal on so many levels. I highly recommend picking up Kenji and be prepared for a book that you will not be able to put down.

I feel like I have waited for years for Kenji’s book! I feel hard for this quiet, dark, and mysterious man. I knew he was going to fall so hard. What I didn’t expect was his dirty talking mouth, and wowzer was it fan freaking TASTIC!!! When a young Miya walks into a casino owned by the Yakuza’s he
Miya is mysterious herself. It is clear she is running from her past, and works to keep people at arm's length. Yes, those around her can see how warm, kind, and caring she really is. She is also hard working, she works hard for the casino and ensures those who work for her are taken care of.
Kenji takes possessive male to a whole new level, and Miya pushes back. She isn’t interested in someone making decisions and telling her what to do. The sexual tension and chemistry is so thick in this book, and I was just waiting for these two to give in. But it was worth the wait. These two set the pages on fire, so very steamy. Kenji is dominant, and when Miya gives in and allows herself to feel, well it is perfection. But danger still lurks and Kenji along with the rest of the Yakuza and Irish family (who Miya has wrapped around her finger!) will stop at nothing to ensure she is safe!
This installment of the Syndicate series is so amazing. I laughed and I cried. This is one of my favorite mafia series, I will never stop recommending it. This author duo does a fabulous job of giving us a dark romance filled with amazing characters, spice, and a unique but beautiful love story with hard earned HEA’s! So, if you love Chicago, a little mystery, some dark elements, hot possessive heroes that are crazy about their women this book should be on your TBR!

Kenji And Miya Are Absolutely Perfect Together ❤️🔥

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Review

OMG my poor heart, and not to mention the major book hangover I now have. I can’t even begin to thoroughly express how much I absolutely love this series. Kenji’s book was next level phenomenal. Cala and Riley seriously out did themselves with this one. With each story they add to this series they just keep getting better and better and I just keep looking forward to each and every book they add to it.

This is Kenji and Miya’s story and when I say it’s a tragic and on the edge of your seat intense that’s putting it mildly. Not only is Kenji hotter than sin and the way he is with Miya is panty melting hot, but there is also so much danger lurking that you won’t want to put this book down for even a second. When Miya’s past catches up to her things really take a dark turn and reading about her past and the trauma she faced will absolutely break your heart and see red towards the man in her past. But she has the love of one man and the protection of two others to help her get through it all. Kenji truly is the absolute perfect man for Miya, and she is the perfect brat for him.

This is an absolute must read but do be aware of TW and have tissues on hand because this book will gut you at times. I’m truly looking forward to the next book in this series which is Dimitri’s story while also one day hoping maybe they will write a HEA story for Kado I would love that for him. I truly adored him in this book. Highly recommend this book and series!!

Miya is on the run from a killer. She’s dyed her hair, changed her name, and for the past six years, she’s been safe working at the Yakuza-owned Casino Currency. Now the killer has caught up to her, and she’s in danger. Kenji, an assassin who is right-hand man to the Yakuza boss and who manages Currency has Miya under his watchful eye, and hasn’t yet told Miya of his feelings for her. As Kenji and Miya grow closer, the killer approaches leaving bodies in his wake until he has Maya in his clutches. Despite his love for Miya, Kenji may be too late to save his beloved.

I think I have a new book boyfriend! Kenji is dark, sexy, and romantic. He’s the perfect match for Miya who is sassy, independent, and strong. I love that Kenji is able to make Miya tear down some of the walls she has put in place to protect herself. Together, they achieve a balance in their relationship that is perfect. I enjoy the interaction between Kenji and Declan who flirts with Miya just to annoy Kenji. The world building is on point in this book as we get a real sense of the inner workings and employees of the casino. Overall, Kenji is a compelling and exciting read.

Kenji can be read as a standalone, but you’ll enjoy it better if you read the entire series to get to know the characters. Let me know if you read - I’d love to discuss!

Best book in the series!! If you have not read any of this books, you are serious messing out! These books are getting better and better with each one!

I have loved every book of The Syndicates series, but this one was by far by favorite. It was also the darkest, with lots of twist and turns and suspense. Cala Riley is the master of sucking you in to the story, and you won't be able to put this one down.

Miya and Kenji have been working together for years. They have a love/hate relationship. Miya is the only one to yell or go off on Kenji and get away with it, anyone else would be killed. Kenji has been in love with her for years, but doesn't do anything about it. He wants her to come to him, not the other way around. When murders start happening all over town, Kenji realizes Miya is the target and nothing will stop him from protecting his woman.

Holy hotness!!! Kenji is as possessive as you can get and I love it!! The office scene, yes please!! Seriously this boy can do no wrong. And I love how he wanted for Miya to come to him first, well beg first. The chemistry between these two...fire!! I love how even with her past Miya is a strong woman who doesn't take anything from anyone. Her and Kenji together will be unstoppable,

'I can't let you go.
Not Now
Not Ever."

The seventh book in the Syndicates series, and Cala Riley is still producing gripping, mesmerising, spine-tingling storylines, for me, Kenji and Miya's book is my favourite so far, dangerous and dark broody Kenji, manager of the Currency Casino, who is also well known in the dark underworld streets of Chicago, maybe frightening to those around him but his one weakness is Miya the young woman who works for him, Miya maybe slightly afraid of this powerful man but there is no deny the attraction between them and WOW the chemistry is hot, but Kenji also knows that Miya is hiding a secret and has been since the day she applied for a job with him, what it is he has never found out, but now girls looking like Miya are turning up dead, is it a coincidence all is there more to it? as the danger ramps up so does the blossom romance between them, can Miya let her guard down with this exhilarating man and give him her heart or will she run?

Kenji may be a big bad Lion, but I loved how Cala Riely managed to keep this side of him while showing us that swoon side that was just for Miya, and Miya was a brilliant sassy take no nonsense woman, which just made this couple so right for each other.

Kenji is book seven of the interconnected series, The Syndicates, by the duo Cala Riley.

I am in love with Cala Riley’s mafia men! Every book, they have brought us a new man... who is completely different from the last... I always think they couldn't be better than the last.. but they always prove me wrong. I still manage to fall in love every time. This book has a bit of everything drama, suspense, action, loss, and romance.

Miya works at the Currency Casino. Kenji runs the casino and is the second in command in the Yakuza. These 2 have worked together for years and have this love/hate relationship. Kenji has been attracted to her & feels the need to protect Miya. When her past catches up with her, he gets his chance. Their chemistry is undeniably & off the charts!

I want to start off on a positive note and say that i’m in love with Kenji Ono. I could read an even longer book just based on his past, because I don’t feel like I got enough of him 😭 Don’t get me wrong I also loved Miya, but she had her moments that really just pissed me off. I understood her want to be bratty and difficult (at times) however it took her a bit long to understand she was better off and safer letting Kenji do what was needed.

As for the writing, I had a hard time in the beginning. The writing changes quite a bit throughout the book and I found myself enjoying certain parts way more than others. I would’ve given this book a higher score had it been a bit less cringe. Especially when it comes to Kenji constantly talking about the age difference and him not wanting to be a perv, like we get it.. she came in at 17 and you knew you had to have her. I’m also on the fence with the “little one” nickname. I think maybe if there wasn’t so much age gap talk it would’ve been cute, it felt like more of an endearing term towards the end but otherwise it kind of pissed me off.

Do I think it was a bad book? No. Would I recommend it? Kinda. I think Kenji is worth getting to know.

Kenji is a romance/thriller story where Miya runs from her past and met Kenji, a 2nd in command Yakuza. Kenji helped Miya who was in desperate need of a job. He accepted her and gave her a job. Over the years, he became her protector and vows to keep her safe even if it cost him his life.
I love a plot that combines romance and thriller. It gives different vibes to the story.
This book made me wonder what danger awaits the main character in every chapter. Will Kenji or Maya get hurt or tortured once Miya’s past caught up with them, or if Kenji’s job will put Miya in danger? Will the other character get killed?
I also like how the author shows the other side of a Yakuza with Kado and Akito. They are tough, and scary but have soft hearts and are willing to die to protect Miya who showed care for them.
This book brings out different emotions. I even cried in a couple of chapters.
I recommend this book if you like a combination of romance and thriller with a high level of 🌶️.
It is the first book of Cala Riley that I read and definitely will not be the last. Kenji is the seventh book in The Syndicate Series, and I will check on the other six, particularly Haruaki.

Cala Riley you girls have done it again! I absolutely loved Miya and Kenji and could not put this book down. The series was my introduction to Mafia books and I have to admit they are kinda my guilty pleasure now and fun change from the typical small town romance books I usually read.

Kenji hires Miya when she is 17 and finds himself with a fierce need to watch over and protect her. He is protective, possessive and used to getting his own way. After overcoming a horrible past Miya has worked incredibly hard to get to where she is now. She challenges Kenji like no one ever has and brings out a side of him that makes him even hotter than before.

Kenji has everything you want in a book! It is emotional, suspenseful, a touch of humor and SO-MUCH-HEAT! The chemistry between Kenji and Miya couldn’t be more amazing and they are truly perfect together.

Keeping this review short so I don’t give away any spoilers but trust me when I say this book is amazing! While this book can be read as a stand-a-lone I highly recommend reading the other books in this series as well.

The emotions throughout this book are brutal and honest, even when the characters try their best to put up walls so others cannot see. Kenji and Miya have a lives that are intertwined from the first moment they met. He is a strong, intelligent member of the Yakuza, a man who is trusted and feared. He is also a man who is born to protect those who have his loyalty and Miya is without a doubt one of those people, whether she realizes or not. She has been running and hiding for so long that she isn’t sure how to allow anyone in, allow anyone to have her trust. This couple plays cat and mouse throughout the entire story.

Readers will be drawn into this book by the suspense, thrills, moments of laughter and passion. The characters, even supporting ones, are so well thought out, thoroughbred written and are so vivid that you cannot help but see them in your mind. Another fantastic book in The Syndicates series and I look forward to more!

this book had the perfect balance between character development, suspenseful plot, relationship building (including platonic) and spice. I read Kenji in one sitting this afternoon and never felt a lull or a moment where I wasn’t excited to be reading.

Both main characters know how to push the other ones buttons and test limits in the bedroom and with attitude - I loved seeing these two bicker and banter 😂

something special I really appreciated was the connection that Miya built with the other members of the Yazuka. She treated them like family and you can feel their bond. That being said the epilogue was absolutely beautiful and made me cry.

this really just made me all that more excited to keep reading in the syndicate series so I can spend time with all the side characters I’ve also come to love 💕

definitely a favorite of the month and likely the year!

Kenji was an exciting read with heaps of steam and a nice suspenseful story to keep you on your toes. Miya is a strong character and how she comes to know Kenji and works for him lets you in early on how attached Kenji is to Miya. Their story of these two strong personalities clashing and what it leads to is, at times funny and very steamy. Kenji is the first book I read in the Syndicates series. I enjoyed meeting other characters, and I would like to go back and read some of the others. Kenji's relationship with his men and those in his employ are in stark contrast to those who cross the syndicate or try to cheat his business, and those distinctions are evident several times in the book. The book had a good pace, and I didn't find myself getting bogged down at all. It was a fun and, at several points, quite an emotional read (my eyes may have leaked). Even if you have not read any of the other books in the series you can jump right into Kenji and have a really good read.

The dream team just keeps knocking it out of the park with The Syndicates series, and Kenji was just as spectacular as the previous books. Miya works for Kenji, and while there's a love/hate (okay just hate) situation on her part, he's having all kinds of inappropriate thoughts & doing his best to stay away from her. Things take a dangerous turn when bodies start dropping all over the place, and now Kenji is going to do whatever it takes to keep her safe despite the fact that she's doing her best to go rogue in all of her rebellion. These two are seriously perfect for each other, and lawd knows the sparks are flying like crazy, but while Kenji wants to make her his, she's determined to not have that happen so the push & pull was intense, and yet entertaining. There's a ton of heat in these pages, the twists are coming in hot, and maybe just maybe, they'll find happiness together at the end of the day but I'll never tell! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I loved Kenji and Miya! And Kado! I loved him so much, I was afraid he might not make it til the end but thankfully he did. Really there were a few characters I really liked.

When Miya was down on her luck and looking for work someone directed her to a casino that offered protection. One look at her and Kenji knew she running from something but more than willing to offer her protection.

She constantly bickers with him, something no one else would dare to do. He's done his best to stay away from her because his world is dangerous. Out of nowhere bodies resembling Miya begin appearing at places she visits along with creepy messages.

Now Kenji will do everything in his power to keep her safe and stop the man responsible for hurting Miya. He knows its something to do with her past but she's not ready to share that painful experience.

Thank you so much to the author and Grey's Promo for this ARC to review.

This is the 7th book in The Syndicates series, and it really packs a punch. Kenji and Mija's journey is full of steamy hot chemistry, just waiting to boil over, and action packed.

Kenji is the owner of a casino and Mija needed a job. Kenji can tell she's running from something, what? he doesn't know, but he can offer her the protection. Kenji is one of your true Alpha males, dominant, possesive, dark but passionate. Mija is a strong headed, sassy, mysterious women. Kenji and Mija are one of those forbidden romances, employer and employee, the attraction between them is off the charts. To start with Kenji doesn't give in to the attraction between them, whilst Mija keeps Kenji on the boil with her sassy mouthy ways.

But with the sizzling chemistry, truths, lies, danger, emotions, and so much more bubbles up to the surface you get an explosive journey for Kenji and Mija which will have you needing more.
