Monique Orgeron is a Contemporary Romance w/ suspense author. Stern Family Saga
Written by Monique Orgeron’s eldest, most beautiful, and intelligent daughter. (My sister is going to hate this part.) My mom happens to be the most caring, loving, and stubborn person I know, well anyone knows. She gives 100% percent of herself to everyone and has given up so much of herself for my sister and I. For twenty-one years she has poured her heart and soul into making sure we know that we are loved and that we can do anything we put our minds too, but it was about time she figured that out about herself. Up until this year I hadn’t seen my mom do anything for only her, but this book has allowed her to travel the world through the pages of a book, make new friends, and feel the joy of doing something exciting. There is a new light behind her eyes and it is just making me feel more joy than she can ever imagine. While she might be annoying most of the time, I am so thrilled that she is finally allowing herself to grow as a person and not spend all of her energy on her family. It has been a long journey of self-discovery for my mom; she has gone from domestic supermom to domestic goddess throughout the process of writing. We are so very excited and proud of you! I love you as big as the world. -Bria and Tony
Regina was widowed after the death of her husband Aiden. He was the son of the Crescent Kings MC President and destined to take over one day. This responsibility will now become one that her son Griffin will take up when he comes of age. For now her gorgeous boy is only 9 years old. Regina works at the club house and pretty much holds things together for Marcus, her father in law. He loves having Regina and Griffin there as much as he can, they are his family.
Aiden was not the first guy that Regina fell for, first it was River. When Regina first began hanging out at the clubhouse she met River and got to know him intimately. He completely rocked her sexual world but when Aiden was released from prison and welcomed back to the clubhouse, Regina caught his eye. River pretty much served her up on a plate to him and despite his own wants and desires with her, it was the least he could do for his best friend.
That decision he made is one he has regretted ever since. Aiden and Regina fell in love, got married and had Griffin. For a few years there, Aiden had the happy ever after that River thought he might one day have. Even though he is now gone, River knows it will never come to pass for him. He loves Griffin, as if he was his own son. He is fully involved in his day to day life and there is nothing he wouldn’t do for him.
When Marcus heads out of town for a while, he insists that Regina and Griffin stay at the compound. He is always worried about their safety when he is not around and feels better knowing his brothers will be looking out for her.
Regina is tired of being alone and not having anyone to snuggle at night. She craves the touch of a man and the companionship she has been desperately missing since she lost Aiden. Being around River stirs up memories of being with him and she fantasizes about him all the time. He just seems pissed off every time he is around her. Like he can’t stand the sight of her. However, the truth is that the temptation of her frustrates the hell out of him. Making a move on his best friend’s wife is just wrong, so why can’t he seem to stay away from her…
It was fun to be reading a romance set in the MC world, it’s been a while since I read this trope. Not too much angst and easy to read.
This book is Raven's and Regina's story. It's a second chance heartbreaking love story. It describes the life in the world of outlaw bikers and their unique brotherhood life style. This story is also a raw and real description of the women's world who are involved in their lives.
I love this dramatic, heartbreaking, tragic and emotional book. I experienced so many different emotions while reading it. And not all were pretty. A life of an outlaw bikers just isn't for everyone and some of the actions in this book were not something a "normal" woman can understand, I think.
This is not a sweet and swoony story, this is a story that provokes and plays with your feelings. This is not a story about teenagers and their dreams, this is a story about adults who have lived their lives and are trying to find meaning in their lives, in their future.
This is also a book about grief and pain after the loss of loved ones. About trying to find themselves after the loss.
Do you know those books where you would have loved to fall into the action and shake people because they sometimes behave like little children? That's exactly one of them for me. I was so involved in the story that I wanted to be a part of it, just to yell at all of them 😂
I loved every second of this exciting, emotional and unique book.
Monique brought me to the highest high and the lowest low with River and Regina. I'm not sure how she just gets better and better with each story she tells but she does.
Just when I think the book I just read was my favorite Monique writes a new one and that becomes my favorite. I airways wondered what made River and Regina tick and now I know. You have Regina morning the loss of her husband and trying to move on but there is just something about his best friend River that she can’t get out of her head. He always there but just out of reach and she thinks he don’t like her. Then you have River the VP of the Crescent Kings motorcycle club and Marcus right hand man. He was best friends with Regina’s husband and has been looking out for her and her son since he died. But what happens when feelings from a long time ago come back to the surface and you try with everything you have to do the right thing? You have this explosive showdown. This I learned from this story. I loved Griff. Regina was fierce in how she lives her life and I wanted to punch River in the face.because he was so stubborn and everyone needs a bad ass friend like Margaret. You will laugh cry and yell at your book and then be rooting for these two to the very end. Another must read from Monique you won’t regret it.
What a ride this book was. So emotional and so beautiful it had me riding the highs and crying during the lows. River and Regina have been through so much together and I was with them on their journey to each other. This is my first book by Monique Orgeron and it most definitely will not be my last. I hung off every word and I was totally hooked with this story and all the wonderful characters. I felt every bit of raw emotion that the characters did and I was left wanting so much, much more at the end. Amazing read!
I received an arc copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Gosh I’m definitely book hangover after reading this book. Monique can keep writing all this books and I’m going to keep falling in love with them all. River and Regina are so perfect together. I was like, “no this time is gonna be everything good, not strong feelings here”… and bam 💥 omg I was happy, desperate, ecstatic, heartbroken, sad, flushed and more 😂. This book had the ability to give you all the feels. River is perfectly imperfect and just what Regina need. I don’t want to spoil anything so go and read this book is freaking amazing and so h0t.
Marcus and Margaret oh gosh they are so cute and everything!!! I loved sawing them through Regina and River’s eyes. Griff is so cute and growing so fast!!! There is a glimpse of the Stern’s second gen, can’t wait for they turns. My Gabriel Stern made an appearance here and I was so so so freaking happy! Thank You Monique for giving me time with Gabriel again ❤️. Super, Extremely, Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Omg 😳 yet again Monique smashed this book!! I loved it, I binge read this in less then a day, I couldn’t put it down!!! Be fair warned you may or may not need tissues as damn Monique makes you feel every bit of angst! Wonderfully written with characters we’ve met before in previous books briefly and wondered what’s their story, now we know and I for one enjoyed it so much this will defo be another paperback joining my Monique shelf in the near future xxx
Another Amazing Read From Monique Orgeron!! You are drawn in, captivated, and get all feels. My heart hurt for River and Regina. All the twists, turns, ups and downs just made you want to throw your tissue box across the room. This is just an absolutely brilliant read. Bravo Monique Orgeron! Bravo!
It’s been quite a while since I read a book that had me crying with a lump in my throat. My emotions were all over the place. Once again, Monique Orgeron had me captivated from beginning to end. This book has it ALL. Humor, angst… throw in a few STEAMY scenes and it makes for a book that readers don’t dare put down. So buckle up buttercups and enjoy the ride.
OMG this book made me want to rip my hair out and squeeze the characters ALL AT ONCE! River and Regina are heartbreakingly beautiful. A must read of 2022!
I love finding new to me authors that I am certain will make my regular reading list and Monique has drawn me in for sure. We have a true MC book in the sense of club business, many unknowns and always looking for someone to try and knock them down. But the second chance push and pull of River and Regina was front and centre in this story.
After many years mourning her dead husband Regina is ready to move on, but how do you do that when at every turn you are reminded of what you had, living the life they did together but alone. Being protected and smoothered by the President (father in law). She is struggling to be the woman she once was, but is determined to make it happen. There is one person from her past life that is front and centre and he used to ignite her fire. One big problem is he hates her and won't give her the time of day unless it's to help with her son Griffin.
River always knew he would end up in the VP spot but he was certain it would be beside his best friend Aiden not beside his father. With Aiden gone so many things have changed and watching out for his wife and son are something River does without thinking twice, but that closeness is also causing him more hurt and quilt. He never saw himself as a family and home kinda man, the club was his life. As of late, he can't help but remember what it was like to have Regina's affection. He is trying hard to keep her at arms length but when Regina is determined, only the strongest man can keep his guard up.
Could there be a second chance option for Regina and River. Or will he always feel like he gave the best thing he had away?
This book is full of emotions and the strongest push and pull, explosion when the heart overpowers the mind. I am excited to see what the next book brings.
*** Advanced copy provided in exchange for an honest review. ***
This book hurt my heart. The dead husband falls for his best friend trope isn't one that's always done well, but it's a guilty pleasure of mine. Throw that in with the mc world and I couldn't wait to have this baby in my hands!!
Regina is mourning the death of her husband, trying to keep a brave face for their son, keeping the clubhouse together and fighting the intense attraction for her deceased husband's best friend. To say she has a lot on her plate is an understatement, and to top it off, she's lonely. She has unresolved feelings with River, but with him acting like he can't stand her, can they find a way to bridge past mistakes? Or will they always be a flame that won't die out?
River has been in love with Regina for what feels like forever. He saw her first, he had her first, but when his best friend gets out of prison and sets sights on her... he steps aside and let's him have her. (Which I have so many feelings on, but let the record show he was being a misguided idiot here.) And now with his friends death, he's wracked with extra guilt for still wanting what he threw away. But is there too much pain for these two to ever have what they once lost?
This is a story full of hope, growth, despiar, Redemption and above all us, love. I shed so many tears, and I know this is one that will stay with me for some time. Did I want to shake these two at certain points? Hell yes. But you just can't help but love them all the same. If you read any mc this year, read this one!!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions**
River had it all first but let it slip through his fingers. He had to sit back and watch the woman he loved marry his best friend and start a family. His best friend was murdered leaving behind Regina and her son. River was there for her and Griffin but kept himself at arms length out of respect to his best friend. Years after her husbands death Regina is ready to move on and find her chance at happiness. She has loved River from the start but when he let her slip out of his hands she turned to another. Now there’s so much to work through. Guilt of wanting to live again and love again has thrown these two in a whirlwind. They have obstacles to overcome.. the club president(Regina’s father in law), both of their grief, feelings of unworthiness and guilt for wanting each other. This was a heartfelt book with a second chance at love. It sucked me in from the beginning and I could not put this book down. Left me wanting so much more of their story.
What can I really say that I haven't said before… Every. Damn. Book. You have me crying, laughing and always wanting more. From the beginning I was hooked. And damn now I'm hoping you have a book for grfifin! And let's not forget gavin. He is gonna be a force! Anyway regina and river! I just loved their story. It hurts that sometimes WE ARE what holds us back but when we accept our fate and live in the moment that’s when true happiness begins. You certainly have a way with words and man I will continue to buy every book you write. Autographed ofcourse! xoxo
Wow One roller coaster like no other. His best friend is gone. He left him with the responsibility of his son and his wife. Not a problem right. She drives him crash like no other. But he can’t cross that line. His son is the next President. Regina lost her husband but lost herself on the way. She takes care of the club, her son and everyone else. She misses the human touch of a man. River won’t make a move. So it’s up to her to show him they where meant to be. Loyalty is everything to River. She’s club property. Together they find love . Amazing book.
This isn't my first Monique Orgeron book. If you look through my reviews you will see a few.
Monique's books are Hallmark meets HBO or Starz and they are GOOD.
Can you handle spice? If so, you're good. If not, go find another book.
This book really invites you deep into a different side of New Orleans. Different from the Sterns at least.
This time we get to meet the hardest bikers in town: The Crescent Kings.
We've met their leader before: Marcus.
Marcus' son died six years ago. Since then he's been watching over his daughter in law, Regina and his grandson, Griffin. But how much is too much?
Regina is ready to move on with her life. She'd like to do it with one person in particular but he will never touch her.
River is the VP of the Crescent Kings. He has responsibilities he has to take care of. He's got a whole club to watch over. But he can't get on girl out of his mind.
Monique brings you through all the emotions: hate, love, tears, hate again (mainly at her).
I love this author and her books are so good. This one just seemed to drag and I just wanted it to get to the point at times. Both main characters seemed to just wanted to hurt themselves with their actions/words and were into putting themselves down all the time. It got a tad repetitive.
AH! I just can't even process River and Regina! Love, loss, heart ache, heartbreak, humor, suspense... This book checks every box! This author has not failed me yet and I look forward to each one of her releases, but this is the first that's after the Stern Saga so I was excited to see if it was truly the author I enjoyed, or just the amazing characters she created within the Stern family. Happy to say she knocked it out of the park with this one as well.
These two are a perfect storm of not knowing what they've got when they've got it, wanting what they can't have, and misunderstandings. I couldn't put it down!
I loved River for Regina, she was the best, the kind I wish were real because we need more decent people like her in the world. She was pragmatic and thoughtful and gutsy in a way I could never be and I was envious of that. She was determined and stubborn and funny and I might just have a bit of a girl crush on her lol.
River fights off so many demons. Its hard to fight them when you constantly feel 'not good enough'. He was definitely not a white knight rescuing a damsel in distress, but he had lines he wouldn't cross, I would put him firmly into the 'morally grey' category.
The author gives us an exciting ride with this one, so buckle up and be prepared, you'll not want to miss a minute of it!
This is my first Monique Orgeron book and I will tell you. It will absolutely 𝙣𝙤𝙩 be my last! From the very beginning to the very last word read, this book pulled me in, kept me hooked & took me on one amazing emotional roller coaster ride! River & his guilt over Regina absolutely twisted my soul. I couldn’t get enough! I wanted to hug him so many times! This is a 4 ⭐️ read you shouldn’t miss! It will break you & piece you back together again in the best way possible! I can’t wait to read more of these books!
* I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Author/Publisher and was under no obligation to post a review, positive or negative.*
4.5 ⭐️ this is my first book by Monique Orgeron and definitely will not be my last! I am not overly familiar with the “lovers to enemies to lovers” troupe, and this one dug deep at ALL the emotions!!!
River and Regina … what a pair! Both deeply in love with the other yet both still delved in the past and their grief. Hating each other but both still trying to be there for Griff, Regina’s 9 year old son, makes for an incredibly angsty and satisfying read!
💋 I received a copy of the book in an online giveaway and left this review of my own free will 😉
This was a somewhat unexpected book because it’s an MC. However, it’s directly tied to the Sterns and Margaret, so it made sense. I have to say it brought up lots of emotions, conflicting at times. I was impatient and upset, but then just let it go and let the plot progress and unfold. It was hard to put down this book and sleep, work and eat, but I managed. The characters are complex and interesting, and the story has unexpected twists and turns. I just loved this family, this MC and can’t wait for the next book in this series.
River and Regina were a couple many years ago and one night things changed when his best friend Aiden got of prison. Many years later and after Aiden died their life changes again. When old feelings are still there and the guilt one of them feels will it be the end for them. Can either one come to terms of the past and for themselves, her son Griffin, and the club? Right from the beginning I was pulled into this story and this book has everything and so much more. I was an emotional mess reading this, and some parts will make you mad, laugh, and ugly cry thru most of it you won't be able to put it down and by the end you will want more. Another amazing, beautiful, emotional read from this and I so can't wait to read what she has next.
I know this is River and Regina's story but I just love when an author brings in her characters from other books and gives them a voice without making the story about them. That being said. Love can endure. And it can endure a lot! How long can you love someone and just stand back and watch? Do you dare let your feelings be known? Or, do you suffer silently and punish them?
This is Ravens and Regina’s second chance love story. This is the lifestyle world of outlaw bikers and their brotherhood’s. This amazing story is dramatic, heartbreaking, tragic and emotional. This is a very emotional read that will grab you by the heart.
River and Regina’s story I never saw it coming!!!! This is one of my top reads of 2022!!! It takes you from high to low then back around. It’s hard to find an author whose writing can make you feel all the emotions the characters are going thru but Monique is defiantly got it down to an art… can’t wait to see what she has in store next.
This is the chaotic love story of River and Regina. Torn apart by pride and self-doubt, these two struggle to see how perfectly they fit together after losing the man they both loved. His best friend, her husband. But this is a story about how River loved her first and loathes her for it. While River struggles with his loyalty to his dead friend, Regina struggles with finding her own identity outside of being Aiden’s wife and River’s lost love. I was really impressed with Monique Orgeron’s ability to weave a complex love story among an MC romance, the perfect blend of dirty clubhouse life and intriguing love.
From the first page to the last this was a book that will pull readers into the world of the Crescent Kings MC wholeheartedly. It's an emotional journey of grief, starting over, and redefining who you are after a major loss. This book will pull at every heartstring while taking you on the ride of a lifetime as the death of one man leaves his wife and best friend navigating new feelings, a heartbreaking push/pull that sometimes frustrates while causing a few tears along the way. The grittiness of the MC lifestyle is also on display as roles have shifted there too. Throughout the story the author showed the MC lifestyle in a realistic way, showing the support of the brotherhood as well as the action and suspense of surviving in the gritty world of MCs.
Regina has mourned her husband for years, but is ready to finally move on. It's not easy to do that though when everything around you reminds you of him. The Club he once ran is a support to her and her son, but it also sometimes feels as if it's smothering her. After years of devoting her life to the Club she finally wants to make herself a priority, be the woman she used to be. The reigniting of her attraction to River is part of that remaking of herself, but his devotion to her late husband has him keeping his distance. Regina's a determined woman though, a strong and gutsy woman who knows what she wants and goes after it with eyes wide open. She's a wonderful heroine, someone you can see yourself friends with, and I was rooting for her every step of the way.
River's the typical biker, a bit dark and occasionally morally ambiguous. The Club, the brotherhood, is everything to him and he would never do anything to jeopardize his place as VP. Years ago he and Regina were in love, but the moment the Club Prez decided he wanted her River stepped away which left him watching over Regina from afar and makes it difficult for him to do anything differently now. His actions back then, and his stubbornness now, had me wanting to slap him repeatedly. He clearly wanted Regina but stood in the way of his own happiness, hurting her along the way throughout their rocky road to HEA. He's definitely not a White Knight in this story, he's definitely full of greys, but I still found myself drawn to him. He's weighed down by his guilt, trapped by his commitment to his dead Prez (and friend), and his inner conflict was palpable. He and Regina were meant to be though and through many twists and turns, a few tears, and a lot of angst, they finally get their hard-fought HEA.
This was an emotionally engaging read, realistic in its depiction of Club life and loss. The main couple has a lot of baggage to work through but the journey they undertook kept me glued to the pages through steamy and heartbreaking moments. The secondary characters were equally as captivating and I'm particularly looking forward to Regina's son Griff taking center stage one day. This is my first time reading Ms. Orgeron but it definitely won't be my last as the world she crafted here is an unforgettable one and has me wanting to see more of it.
River and Regina were together years ago, at the time his best friend, Aiden, was released from prison. Aiden was the son of the Crescent Kings MC president, so he was in a position of authority. When Aiden decides that he wants Regina, River hands her over immediately, leaving Regina feeling unwanted. Later, he regrets his action, but it’s too late. Aiden and Regina marry and have a child together. River watches their life unfold from the sidelines and loves her from afar, all while blaming Regina for his own foolish and immature choice.
Yes, there’s quite a bit of tension and angst in this story. There’s also a lot of passion, and a few other stupid choices as well. Nevertheless, this story flows beautifully, and these characters are doing what they think is right—even when it hurts. There is some violence in this book, but not as much as some of Orgeron’s other books. We are privy to the inner machinations, thoughts, and heartaches of both River and Regina, and we get a strong sense of what makes these protagonists tick. The character development in this book is excellent!
All of Monique’s books are interconnected, but some can be read as stand-alones. However, the experience of every single one of her books is much richer if you have the backstories of the other characters from reading the prior books. Once you pick up a Monique Orgeron book, you can be certain that you are going on an emotional journey with flawed characters who often make you cry, but who always find their HEA ending. Her pacing and tension are spot-on in this book, and her dialogue is snappy. Well done!!
One minute I had it all, I was ruling the Kings at my best friends side and all I needed was my bike but then he made a choice that changed it for all of us. She’s always been my achilles hill and slowly she’s becoming my living nightmare, I want the one woman I can’t have and a life I know I don’t deserve.
I’m a sucker for a MC/Biker book and have been chasing the high The Fallen Series left me in so when I read the blurb for this book it sounded amazing. This is a 2nd chance, best friends wife, single mom and slight slow burn romance that is filled to the brim with angst and longing till the very end.
Regina knew that when she married her biker husband she signed up for a life of danger but she didn’t realize how quickly she would lose him. She’s now the widow of the group and left to be taken care of by her Prez father in law and unfortunately her husbands best friend River.
Regina and River share a very long and complicated story, with a lot of up and downs and quite a lot of guilt consuming them both. This is a far more complex story then just my best friends girl, these two share a connection and bond not many knew about or realized. I can tell you one thing River will have you wanting to smack the living crap out of him or at least wanting to shake him to death almost all the way to the end. He is a very stubborn, pig headed and difficult man to understand or even like a times but I never doubted his feelings for Regina and griffin.
You will enjoy every second of watching Regina finding herself, of healing her heart and finally realizing it’s okay to be loved again. This book gave me all the tension, angst and passion I was needing, including quite the possessive alpha male MC (doesn’t get much better then that)!
